Perfect couples vacation for US couple in 50’s wanting beach, excellent food, onsite activities, spa and yoga, peace and luxury with access to city life and sightseeing.
Superbe hotel. Le personnel très gentil avec un service incroyable
Words cannot express how amazing this resort is. From the staff to all the amenities, environment, and tourists, it is truly remarkable. You dont feel like a number here, you feel like family. Thank you for making my experience feel wonderful! Thank you, Steven Calogredes
most amazing 4 days at hotel!!! great food, great amenities, pricey but worth it!
Overpriced but excellent location with the Temple of Poseidon across
Amazing
Amazing stay! I can see where this resort becomes like family. Great service from several consistent faces - we loved Georgia!
Quite dated and not good with the in room services at all
The staff is excellent and service is supreme It’s a beautiful hotel
The perfect weekend retreat
Beautiful property in unique spot, quiet setting perfect for relaxation. Private protected beach .
First we were in a terrible room with smoking smell Than we pay a lot more to upgrade our room and the room was great and all the atmosphere changed for the best
Amazing property amazing service
I had high expectations due to other reviews and quite high price of the room. Be aware that there is a public main road running through the property! The rooms is dated to the point that it is not acceptable for a 5*hotel. The faucets were broken, the bathroom/shower are very difficult to get into. The bed is old and uncomfortable, linen is a motel quality. When these issues were addressed to management, they could’t do anything, stating that there are some rooms that were not updated yet! But why are you charging 600 euro a night for a malfunctioning room? Definitely not worth the money paid, opt for a private room or 4* nearby, at least you are not being mislead.
Beautiful great service
Wonderful service from all team members of the resort. Incredible food experiences. The spa treatments were absolutely perfect. A memorable and beautiful stay.
We had an amazing stay. The staff are incredible and the amenities of the hotel were beautiful!
I am now a fan of Grecotel- The moment you walk in the staff and the kindness they show makes your stay wonderful. Apostolos drove us up and down and all around, so cheerful. our massages were wonderful- xoxox
This is a go there and relax place. There is nothing around this place. Ok beach but very well designed pool and grounds. Recommended for couples although there were plenty of families.
Clean and quiet property. Simona was very attentive to our needs as customers.
The Buffet dinner was expensive for what it offered; room service menu was better value. The a al carte restaurant options were not available every night, and fully booked when we tried. The breakfast buffet (included) was good. The "Superior bungalow" was a strange layout with an open plan bathroom with a movable/ sliding screen; the bath had no tap, so had to be filled with the flexible hand shower - which was do-able but a bit strange. Lighting was also a bit strange, with numerous lights and slightly randomly located switches, most of these did not provide much light. The access door was a sliding glass door panel, the locking of which was using the room card; successfully achieving this was a bit of an art, and it was not immediately intuitive. A full size wooden "shutter" door provided privacy across the glass access door at night, but had sagged on its hinges so was hard to close. the remainder of the glass window was coverable by an electric roller blind. Gym and spa pool were good, as was the outdoor pool. The private beach - accessible by tunnels under the road - was pleasant with many sun loungers and a good view of the Poseidon Temple. Both beach and main pool had bar/bistros providing a reasonable range. The temple was about a 1.6km walk along the road from the hotel, which was wide and fairly quiet. The hotel would arrange a taxi at a price. Visiting just before sunset gave good colours for photography, but also seemed to be when a number of coach tours arrived.
We had a great vacation, the location is beautiful and beach is top-notch. Staff was super welcoming and friendly, they really made us feel at home. Thank you
Beautiful property … great Buffet … rooms need an update .
Beautiful property- managment not good- day to day staff very sweet- cleanliness poor- they asked my driver on 2 occasions where I was going??? This is unfathomable!!! Amenities in poor condition
Staff, location and food were excellent! Room needs update. Bed was very uncomfortable. Bath fan was broken and squeaky. Told them after first night but was not fixed. The grounds were really nice. The view of the Temple was great.
The rooms were phenomenal!
Room, service and natural beauty amazing
Wonderful
The property overall was beautiful but the room we stayed in was very outdated and the bathroom needed to be gutted. The bath did not drain properly and the outlets did not work at all. There was also no vent or air conditioning in the bathroom. The shower head was placed at a low angle making impossible to take a shower. This hotel should not be rated 5 star.
Amazing hotel. Beautiful grounds beach and pool. Excellent service. Appreciated the big suite so my family of four was comfortable.
The room was average
Had such a wonderful stay. We got upgraded due to Expedia Gold Membership Status which was a very nice surprise. Strawberries and Prosecco we’re also waiting in our room - another lovely gesture. Service is we polite and attentive. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The room was ever so slightly dated but nothing I couldn’t look past. Shower had brilliant water pressure and the bed was very comfortable. The property itself is stunning and the area around the pool simply gorgeous. How many hotels are there where you can see the Temple of Poseidon while swimming in the pool?! Private pool with another gorgeous view of the temple isnt to be missed either. View from the terrace is also amazing. Would not hesitate to go back; in fact, we already booked the in-laws a 3 night stay for the autumn.
We stayed at this beautiful resort last August. We had an absolutely amazing time! The resort is nested in a picturesque hill right across from the temple of Poseidon. The grounds of the resort are beautifully kept: the resort is actually built next to ancient ruins, making the stay there even more special. The staff is exceptional! By the end of our 5-day stay we knew everyone by their first names. All of them eager to make us happy and offer any possible help. The breakfast buffet is out of this world! Fresh baked croissants, fresh fruit, fresh honey (out of an actual honeycomb!) waffles, pancakes, bougatsa….you name it! The breakfast buffet is a dream come true! Once you are in the resort, there are golf carts that take you anywhere you would like: to the pool, to the beach, to your room etc. Breathtaking views of the sea and the temple of Poseidon, especially that one night that we were lucky enough to enjoy a full moon under the beautiful voice and piano notes of a wonderful couple performing. We plan to return to this gem of a resort very soon! We had such a memorable stay!
Purchased sea view, could not see water unless outside on the porch draining your neck. Beach is across the street. Told management about issue with view they showed us room with worse view. Plan on walking on this property, everything is stretched out, and there are lots of stairs. Bathroom was way out of date, it’s is a slip and fall hazard waiting to happen. For $250 euros per night, I will never go back. The breakfast buffet was lack luster and some of the staff was rude. Pictures on Travelocity don’t match the rooms.
Mostly peaceful and relaxing
I was stationed in the military 38 years ago and visited the cape numerous times. I was glad to find this property to finish our trip. It is a very beautiful property but it showed som wear in our unit. There was a storm in the area so we didn’t use the pool. The bar food (tacos, sliders) were delicious. We had a mosquito issue in our unit and the wasps were out of control the day after the storm, which made breakfast uncomfortable
Excellent staff. Very helpful. Beautiful scenery.
Great views of the Temple Comfortable beach & pool setting Hotel landscape Friendly staff - Food & Beverage really overpriced (no nearby restaurants) - Sauna & Jacuzzi not available - Very limited communication in resort/room - Rooms built on hill - be aware if mobility issues
Our room didn’t have any view but it was very clean and modern and had a lot of extra’s such as robes, slippers, and toiletries. They also set up a nice arrangement for our anniversary of champagne and sweets. We ate at their restaurants on the resort and both were OK- not great.
Beautiful hotel
Not a 5 star
In short- it’s
Great resort overlooking the Temple of Posiedon. Staff welcomed us apon arrival, with choreographed excellence. Our rooms where clean and great condition. Staff thoughout our stay where exceptional.
Amazing views. Family focus made it less romantic for couples. Would be nice to have a family section separate from others at beach and other areas.
Absolutely loved Sounio. It’s very quiet so not for families who like lots of action and noise. But the kids club was EXCELLENT - our 8 year old daughter didn’t want to leave! It was beautiful and peaceful and we returned very relaxed.
The property is beautiful, well maintained, offering an incredible panorama on the sea and the Temple of Poseidon. Rooms are very comfy and would advise to go for one with a private pool. There is a private beach and a pool as well. Different kind of restaurants, all were very good. The staff is lovely, very professional, friendly and welcoming; all led by a very good manager. We will come back
The location was marvelous. The staff was very helpful and nice. However, the following small things were missing: 1- no tissues available in the room. 2- for 4 or 5 night stay limited supply of water. 3- a lot of ants in the room and the surrounding. 4- for us the bathroom culturally is not suitable.
I did not receive the room upgrade, despite my VIP Expedia status :(
Grecotel Cape Sounio is truly in a fantastic location with its views of the Temple of Posiden. The staff is very service oriented and friendly. Our bungalow was a short uphill walk from the main building and was clean and spacious. The bathroom was a drawback in that it wasn’t truly private — just a sliding screen separated it from the main room. The amenities consisted of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap (I.e. no sewing kit or any of those other small things you expect in a five star). There were four sodas and four bottles of water, some fruit and some toffees / jellies that were provided complimentary. The beach had plenty of chairs, towels, and a competent bartender. It was quite breezy though and given it was April, it was chilly. The pool area was warmer but still not many people in the water. The breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. The lunch at the pool was quick and tasty. We only had dinner once and the buffet while varied was a disappointment for the cost (€93) for two people. This includes the bottle of water that you have no choice for which to pay unless you want to eat within drinking anything. We arranged our own tours from the hotel to Corinth etc. and there were other guests doing similarly. We walked to the Temple of Poseidon. It was about a 40 minute walk along a busy road but easily doable. An Uber from the Temple back to the hotel was €4,00. Overall lovely hotel that is between a 4 and 5 stars.
This is the gem of Attica area. A true 6* in my opinion for service, accommodation and value. A must stay !
Extremely Nice and Luxurious
This place is extremely nice! The views are stunning and the grounds are fantastic, the staff is super attentive and the meals were very good! It is a 10 min drive to the Temple and the beach access is sooooo nice!
Overpriced and i would rated as 4 star hotel nothing more, 3 good restaurants with polite staff and also helpfull beach bar staff. Propertie is old and needs renovation including the deluxe room i stayed in, front desk staff are a bit aggressive making sure you check out on time and such which i can almost assume it's a systematic behaviour, they can soft in a bit as for someone who paid up to 450$ a night so a little grace can take them a long way, i end up checking out on time and went to another hotel resort instead of extending my stay just because i don't like the hassle attitude. In summary, polite and helpful restaurants and bar staff, old property that really needs renovation and finally front desk pay upfront management style.
Clean, friendly and helpful staff! The food was excellent!
The resort had impeccable service with professional yet friendly staff who took COVID protocols seriously. The villas with private pools were wonderfully relaxing. Grecotel Cape Sounio was a nice beach option without having to ferry out to the Greek Islands. My kids loved this resort so much they vowed to return to it on their own as adults! Grecotel provided happy memories that will last us a lifetime!
Beautiful grounds
Property is beautiful!
We really enjoyed our stay at the property. Once we arrived, we remained until it was time to depart for the airport. The staff at the front desk, bars and restaurants were attentive and provided excellent service.
Beautiful property. Very secluded, so no town to walk to. If you want to sit and read a book, this is your place. Amazing view of the Temple of Poseidon. Great food and good service. Rooms were oddly close together, so not a lot of privacy.
The Grecotel is like a trip to Paradise!
The location is suitable for a Greek God with beautiful views of the Poseidon Temple on the hill and yachts on the Bay. The beach is spectacular with clean clear water for swimming. Delicious food is served in the cafe or to your bungalow. I enjoyed a very nice massage on the beach. The pool is Olympic size with salt water filtration. The hotel lobby and surrounding area is tastefully decorated with flowing fountains candles and torches at night. My family couldn't have been happier with our stay. One of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen! The only downside is that rooms are a little far from the main lobby but this gives you plenty of privacy. Great views of the bay and Temple from the room which has complimentary drinks chips candy and macarons. Yum!
Beautiful and peaceful place
When we arrived, we have been given a quite small room, with not much privacy. The front desk manager, Marco, has been very helpful to manage a bigger room. Our stay has been super relaxing.
Amazing 3 night break from Athens. The service was excellent throughout the stay
Recent stay
The service at the hotel was efficient. The public areas of the hotel were very nice and well done. The pool area looked clean but when one moved the sun loungers which I did 3 times there were remains of chips and food particles around the chairs and umbrellas. The breakfast was just about Ok but the restaurant near the pool had excellent food and menu which was a pity it was not open after 4.30 pm. In the evening there was only a choice of very fine dining or a buffet and so we took a taxi (expensive) to a nearby restaurant. The bed rooms needed updating but that did not spoil our stay at the hotel.
friendly staff, nice pool area and good food at the restaurants
Staff and location were superb. All of the restaurants were excellent and the quality of service was equaled by the great food. The beach was lovely- the views utterly beautiful and the location so near Poseidon’s temple made it even more special. The only negative was the room which was below the standard of the facility but still comfortable and very clean. It’s also a short commute to Athens. We will stay here again.
Strange hotel concept.
Disappointing stay, except the view it was really not what we were excepting.....
Very nice resort. Bungalows are kinda small. Beds make you sink in. I would recommend it.
the most amazing resort that I have ever stayed in!
This was an amazing resort that was very layed back and relaxing. The views from the grounds was breathtaking. The staff was super nice. The food was top-notch. Great pools and access to a beautiful beach. I highly recommend it!
Amazing view, Gourmet food and friendly service during our stay! Must comeback again with friends!
AMAZING
All amazing best place ever
Unpleasant Reception
We booked a deluxe room with a sea view and were allotted one with a communicating door to a room occupied by a family with young children yet the resort/hotel was running less than half full. requested a room change only to be told that it was my fault for requesting one with a nice sea view.Next room we were given had 2 other rooms' access in front of ours and yet the next rooms further each with individual entrances were all unoccupied.Go figure?!
Cape Sounio was excellent in every way. Everyone staying and visiting needs to pass through a security gate with a security guard in order to get onto the property. The location feels very safe and quiet and the enhanced security measures went above and beyond. The staff greeted us in a very professional way from the beginning to the end of our stay. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The pool was big and relaxing, and the beach was not far from the pool. Great view of the Temple of Poseidon from the hotel. The buffet dinner was 45 euros per person, but there are many tavernas nearby if one wants a greater variety at a better price. We stayed only one night but I definitely hope to return in the future and stay for a longer period of time. I honestly cannot think of any improvements needed.
The location is great, the property is nice. The concierge and front desk staffn and restuarant servers were great. The beach and pool staff were some of the worst I've experienced during all my travels. With this being a beach resort, the service at the pool and beach should be the finest encountered and they were far from it. I wouldn't return to this resort.
Clean, super view of cape Sounio, quite, Relaxing and convenient to reach ATHENS from northern side of ATTICA,close to Athens airport, superb pool and private beach...GO THERE !!!!!!
Beautiful gardens and peaceful beach- attentive staff - great location to have time out from a busy life
Fantastic!
Amazing trip, would recommend to all.
Excellent hotel in a wonderful place
Great view, spacious room, the best breakfast ever
A Sanctuary among the ruins.
This is my favorite hotel in the world! The location is fabulous, the rooms are carefully planned to instill a sense of peace and relaxation, and the food is magnificent. Dining here is an experience in itself, with a tremendous amount of detail in presenting every dish. Even during the hurricane, with its strong winds and rain, the hotel provides a luxurious respite to low yourself and let troubles melt away. When the sun is out, the private beach and pool are also glorious! I must add that the best part about staying here is the excellent service and genuine kndness of its employees. And for these reasons, we return again and again.
Paradigm of landscape blend architecture, first row majestic view to the ancient temple remnants of Sounio.
Idyllic Seaside
Fantastic hotel on a beautiful location where you can sit on the terrace or relax in the pool overlooking the Med and temple of Poseidon at the same time. Service is great with lots of attention to the visitors we’ll being.
Very good service in checking in. And exelent service in our 5 day. But very bad in our check out and horrible. They nice when day need you. But when they not longer need you very sad.
An Amazing stay! Cosy and calm!
Amazing stay! The resort is faboulous and the personnel is doing everything to please you! The aquagym teacher is wonderful and very professionnel. She checks if everyone is ok and the course is really personalised.
Fantastic family friendly hotel, great food and great kids club for children 4+ years
Relaxing
Beautiful hotel & great staff. Mainly couples & families staying there. Not that many single guests or activities. I had already visited several islands & family & was there to relax & get a few more days of sun & swimming before returning to work so was perfect for me.
I like too much this hotel!! Everything there its amazing!!
Great hotel with terrific view
We arrived at this resort with high expectations as the reviews on line were terrific. We stayed one night and loved everything about our stay. Staff was attentive and gracious from moment of our arrival, the welcome drinks were amazing. Our room was nicey appointed spacious and clean. We had a private villa with pool, which was cleaned by staff daily. Very accomodating even in their top restaurant with a child. Just had a great time. Definatley reccomend this hotel to others!
Perfect for a quick beach retreat
The hotel is beautiful, pool & beach stunning, staff very friendly and helpful. There is an ancient site to visit very nearby and it makes a beautiful focal point from many areas of the resort. If you want a quick beach getaway it’s perfect.
Best hotel n Greece
Gorgeous location, perfect staff, deluxe bungalows, and the best hotel breakfast in the world.
Relaxing hotel with lovely staff
The hotel has a relaxing and luxurious ambiance, set amongst mountains and beach front. The staff are warm and always helpful and the views make the experience very special
Very children friendly hotel! The staffs are very nice!it is really a good place for relaxing family holiday!
What a wonderful stay at a fabulous hotel!
We were overwhelmed by the attention to detail and care that the staff in this hotel showed us, in every department. The restaurant and leisure facilities were exceptional and everyone was very professional and attentive to our whole family. The wonderfully equipped indoor pool was a lifesaver for us as we visited at the end of October and then other pools aren’t heated. Also, the sea is cold at this time of year. Thank you for the best family holiday we could wish for! We’re planning our return trip already.
Excellent Hotel - great views of Poseidon’s Temple
Terrific family room. Good food, excellent caring, supportive Kids club staff and the sport classes lady was brilliant. Worth knowing there were no programmed activities scheduled on a Tuesday (including kids club activities - I didn’t note this on the hotels website) and the ‘discovery activities’ at this time of year for kids aged 7-14 were limited to the climbing wall only (no astronomy, kayaking etc, it does state on the website that these activities were weather/guest number dependent - but it was October 1/2 term, a fare number of kids on site & my children would have appreciated more ‘discovery activities’ being available. The hotel should probably publish a draft programme online in order for guests to be fully informed of what’s potentially available.
Beautiful greek luxury
Great views. Great food. Beautiful greek sky. Friendly people. Fantastic relaxation.
Slow service
Large resort close to the Poseidon Temple with acces to the beach. 3 restaurants with rooftops. We have arrived at the hotel late in the afternoon but still had to wait 45 minutes before we were escorted to the room only after multiple inquiries. Our bungalow sea view was completely obscured by the trees and shrubs. Room phone and one of the lights did not work. Ok place but lacking personal attention.
great view, spacious rooms
very friendly staff, children activities and free lunch for small children, very nice beach and swimming pool
Great Hotel on the Beach
This is a Great Hotel. Very good staff with lovely facilities. Nice Welcome. Very pleased with the room. Went to the beach - good sand, nice beds and shades; loads of nice towels. Ate at 3 of the 4 evening restaurants - good staff and food, nice wines. Good bar. Breakfast is a treat. Swimming pool works very well. Great stay - not a fault.
Beautiful escape from Athens!
What a wonderful property with beautiful amenities. The breakfast blew us away, with mostly fresh local products and wonderful views. Will make a point to return.
Nice Hotel near Athens
Nice Hotel near Athens, ideal for weekend escapes. Friendly and polite staff, nice pool for kids, excellent buffet. Facilities are getting old and obsolete.
Upscale, nice, but need little work on service!
Checked in, weirdly as a girl just walked us to the resting area of the hotel, wished it was explained on what was happening to fill out the info. Normally it's done at the reception, so I found it out of place being between guest that were just relaxing after dinner. Mix up with the room, prepared for someone with kids while I booked ocean view room for 2 adults?!? The baggage boy was the best, nick, took care of us and brought us back to reception. Too bad it was to find out that they overlooked and there was no Room for us for two nights. They insisted on moving us, which for 2 nights I didn't want. Had to stay, no other hotels in the area. Manger, peter, made up for it with complementary dinner and beautiful suite for one night. 2nd was still not seaview, but I was too tired to argue. Overall beautiful hotel, very clean, good food and great atmosphere! Would recommend!!!!
Horrible
Mold in the shower I could go on and on a bad experience
Didn't want to leave
Great hotel, great staff, great location. We'll be back.
Super luxe hotel
Friendly staff, very good swimming pool and a great place to stay when visiting the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio..
Nice location area
Great staff, location, facilities ,lovely resort highly recommended
Cape Sounio, A Grecotel Resort To Live | Home in Lavreotiki | Travala.com
Not so good
Very poorly designed room! No place in the washroom to put your traveling bag, sink plug was broken we called and during our 4 day stay nobody came to fix it, no table in the living room to have a inroom dinner! Doesn’t worth the cost!
