Wonderful staffs. Clean Property. Overall a great experience.
WaterfrontやGastownにとても近く便利な立地です。少し古い感じはしますが、過ごすには問題ないと思ます。ただ、近くにナイトクラブがあるので、遅くまでその音が響くことがあります。
It was a great stay overall. Room was as advertised, staff is great. That is if you don't mind the music coming from the bars downstairs.
Choose this one or their other downtown hostel
Cambio have two downtown locations. The trainstation is a block or two away. Bus line outside. Everything is right there. Exceptional cleaniness. Two bars downstairs. Know this: the rooms are small. Very nice staff. I stayed for 2 days and am happy. I came in from Sweden
Noisy
Definitely Book This Place!
We happened upon the Cambie Hostel because two VRBO hosts canceled on us, on the biggest weekend in Vancouver's history-the Taylor Swift Era's tour FINAL stop. We never stayed at a hostel before and were a bit apprehensive. We were SO lucky and SO pleased that a room opened up at the Cambie! The front desk hosts were always pleasant. The room was spotless and so comfy. Everything we needed was within walking distance to the hostel. BEST SPOT EVER!!! Malone's was a terrific spot to eat at before seeing Taylor. The 515 Bar was one of the best bars we've ever been to-what an amazing vibe! Every single person we encountered in Vancouver was so kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Great place to stay! Squeaky clean!
Friendly guest
My stay there was very good. Bed,bathroom, kitchen was good. Staff were most welcoming & helpful. What I am still not happy about is I have not recieved C$5 credit to my card for return of the towel issued.
Great location & walking distance from everything I wanted to do while I was in Vancouver. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Next time I visit Vancouver (hopefully soon for Grey Cup / Taylor Swift) I’ll definitely try to stay at the Cambie Downtown Hostel again!!!
The 1st floor accommodations, you could hear every song the DJ was playing until closing time from the bars next door... other than that, you get what you pay for
I had everything I required for my stay, except for hot showers. I never got any hot water. The best I could do was reduce the flow to a near dribble & get a tolerable tepid. The noise from downstairs was constant thru most of the nights, but I wore earplugs to dampen the sounds. However, on Friday night, they played loud music & I could hear the bass & drumbeats thru my plugs. I was kept awake until past midnight. Also my food was once stolen from the kitchen.
The property was clean although mold can be seen in places , the area was noisy but the convenience was great for my purposes.
Good place. Location is great and there are nice pubs and restaurants nearby.
Affordable but noisy. Loud traffic noise and music from the bar downstairs. Earplugs helped. Super convenient to transit and walkable.
Great location to be in
Excellent
Very friendly staff and very helpful throughout stay
private washroom
Very small room in poor condition, s
The worst hostile I have ever been to in my entire life and I have been going to hostels for 50 years. Absolutely absolutely disgusting diarrhea all over the bathroom. Horrible rooms just horrible.
It was very convenient to where we wanted to be.
Staffs are very friendly & polite.Good place to stay.
Not a bad place to stay for an inexpensive hostel. Main complaint was no A/C making the rooms hot in summer plus no breakfast.
Great option for Solo Trip
The location is great in downtown Vancouver, a couple blocks from the ferry and cruise terminal and a few blocks to Gastown. The taproom downstairs has good brews and food at competive prices, sometimes with live music. The main downside for me was that the room was a bit too warm now during mid-summer though the personal fan they provide helped and open windows made it cooler as the evening and night progressed. At certain times during morning rush, more toilets and showers would have been helpful but were otherwise adequate. Yes, I'd stay here again for the location convenience and price.
Good inexpensive option. Nice to have a room for two but very small. Bit of a funny layout with doors and stairs required to find bathroom. Bar downstairs very loud and also street noise.
Location is great but the room is very small and no air condition, no fan. It was very hot. Also, bunk bed doesn't have guard rails. It's a bit scary what if I fall off from the bed while sleeping. Also, at night, it's very noisy.
Location good Noisy and hot
The room has no ventilation, I must keep the windows open, but the room is at 1/F and facing the bustling street, the noise of traffic and cracked head people at mid night makes me have no way to sleep. And the music from the bar downstairs is loud enough to shack the bed. The power outlet is far from the bed, I couldn’t charge my phone while on bed. Other than great location Overall is not a great stay if you had a long day and require a good rest.
This is good place for single traveler. Not suitable for couples. Cheap and in the center of the town.
The women restroom is dirty and old.
The outside traffic noise was loud. The facilities were basic but overall it was okay for one or two nights. Very convenient location.
Cheap and clean
Pros - Downtown, easily accessible - Affordable Cons - Very loud. Windows are kept open. - Dirty - Towel service
Excellent
Access to public transportation
Very clean common areas. We got a private room and were happy with the bed.
I did stay there room is rate is not good according to room we cant take go inside the room for dinning. its not good for there
Wonderfull
Good experience
Was very clean. Bathroom was great. Bed was not bad. Was a pleasant experience
Safe place in a crazy neighbourhood!
The hostel is in the city center and very close to the subway station which is great. The staff are very nice and helpful. The facility is also clean and in good condition. But my room only has 2 sockets (for 2 guests) which I think should have more of it.
I didn't know that there was a bar at ground level and it's loud up to early morning. How can you get a good rest. Only 1 male washroom in use after they clean the one at the first floor.
I like the fact that it's right downtown. I went to a concert and could walk back and flop in bed.
This is my first time staying at a hostel and I really enjoyed it. If I ever have to travel on a budget again I will definitely do it again. I will recommend anyone to stay here, the place is so clean and safe. I like that they had separate floors for men and woman, nqde me feel safe. I also really liked the kitchen area, was nice and quiet and great way to interact with other people. The front desk lady was super nice and helpful, whenever I had a problem she helped me right away. Too bad I didn't get her name
It was clean and comfortable and Convenient to have a pub with good food.
Yes, my first time jn a hostel. I would recommend.
There hostel was very clean and quiet.
Good
Typical hostel, just a bit dirty
The location is unbeatable, as the hostel is centrally located and within walking distance of so many great parts of downtown Vancouver. It is also close to transit options, making it convenient to get here or leave by bus or SkyTrain. The 24-hr on-site staff is very helpful and accommodating, as I got very quick responses to my emails prior to my stay. The website mentioned towels for hire, but that was not the case upon inquiring about them via email. Other things like toiletries can be easily taken care of from the customers' end, but I think having towels available (either for small fee or via a deposit system) would be very helpful and an absolute game-changer, something that would have significantly enhanced my stay. I would definitely choose the Cambie Hostel Downtown again due to its price and location.
Toilets were clogged and dirty, room was absurdly hot during winter, lots of noise from the street, staff struggled with check in and gave me the wrong room. Top bunk very high with no guard rail to prevent rolling off during the night. Good location, that's about it.
Liked it . Clean place and friendly staff and service
The area is nearby to good places. If you like to walk, gastown is nearby. Clean washrooms. I felt safe staying in this hostel.
No facility and dirty Matt sheet
Everything was alright, it was totally worthy for the price. However, there was a mouse in the kitchen and when I told the receptionist about it he told me there was nothing he could do about it. Besides this, I enjoyed my stay there and the staff was often pretty friendly.
Best place
It was good
Convenient to downtown great staff downstairs but the drawback was that I would have preferred an all female floor.was a bit uncomfortable in the night going to bathroom. Some guy was in the hall staring .Otherwise all was excellent
Worst hostel experience ever. Would have got a better sleep back on the airplane. A super busy street filled with sirens, loud cars, honking, trucks every minute. Crackheads from 2-7am. A loud bar downstairs which is a feature of the place and I had food and drink there which was good, but again it keeps you up later. Rickety bunks. 4* bathroom upstairs, 2* floor 1. Cold unenthusiastic staff to "welcome you". First interactions outside immigration was the reception and was as miserable as the weather. Good access to other parts of town and stations gives its only star. I know it's an old building but a heat pipe right next to your bed unprotected to brush against constantly is just dangerous and keeps your room stuffy and unpleasant. I got about as much time sleeping as you would take to read this. Nightmare on Seymour St!
Clean and tidy. Felt safe.
Great deal
The Cambie Hostel is conveniently located, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the other guests were friendly. I gave feedback about the stuffiness (the windows don’t open), and over-heated condition of the room. The gracious desk clerk said that she would pass along the feedback, and commented that since it is an older building, the heat is connected everywhere - including the bar downstairs. This means that turning the heat down for the dorms creates a chilly bar, and vice versa. The bunk bed wasn’t exciting, yet it and the pillow were adequate. The sheets were clean and didn’t have a strong fragrance. The shared bathroom was clean, and has been renovated to have modern fixtures and sensibility. All in all, it was a great value for a last minute change, and I would stay again if the circumstances required it. I would be sure to bring my personal mini-air filter, and maybe my travel sized diffuser.
:)
Told them my flight got cancelled and tried to reschedule. But as I was only 1 hour late after their 12 hour policy. I would love to stay there if they would have rescheduled.
Great location to access downtown.
Biggest problem was: I reserved a 'shared' room through Expedia which also said '1 person maximum' so I thought I had a private room until someone else checked in and I had to pay another $100 CAD or so to move to a private room. Other problems were: inconvenience accessing the only men's bathroom, some kind of dirt in both shower stalls, dirty towel, and over-heating of the room.
If you enjoy simplicity, this place is for you.
Hostel is located above a bar with live music playing quite late. Other than that place is good for its money
Good for what I wanted. Left me alone and I partied all night
Great location
Location was GREAT! In between the Waterfront and Granville stations, it was easy to get places via SkyTram or bus or walk to Gastown neighborhood or Vancouver Playhouse. I had a single room which was maybe 7x10 feet. There were two stools but no table. Bathrooms were clean. I didn't use the kitchen or living room areas. It is on top of a bar with live music and you car hear sirens from the streets below, so bring ear plugs. Other travelers were respectful. I would stay here again the next time I'm in Vancouver.
It was very noisy. If not from the bar then from the building itself. It’s a very old building which has a lot of character but the old hard wood floors and the paper thin walls let’s you hear everything, The bed was very uncomfortable as well. Not much sleep was had
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms however looked old and needs renovation.
Close to pier
good choice
Location was perfect. Short walk to/ from Sky train. I disliked our room location. It was across from kitchen and had very loud outside fan noise from another building, never quiet.
This is a great downtown hostel with only two to a room. It’s not the quietest place given the location and old building but it’s the nicest of the hostels I’ve stayed in in Vancouver.
It was a nice inexpensive property, located right where we wanted to be. The staff was friendly and helpfu.
Extremely noisy until middle of the night. What the?!?!
I wasn't the first to arrived to the shared room, so i got stuck with the top bunk, 80's and 90's movies saying the top bunk is the place to be... it. Is. Not. Heat rises, so it was slightly unbearable to sleep in at times. I went out to the bars at most nights, when i come back, people fart, thats a human bodily function. Id come back from a night out, only to be met with my roomie hot boxing the room....then i climped the bunkbed to sleep...and contribute to the smell. Needs a cheap clip fan for top bunk sleepers.
Evrything you need is a walk away great place to stay
Close to the waterfront and transportation. Right over a bar and music is loud.
The receptionist didn’t want to resolve our issue
It is a dump, noisy, no air conditioning, not even a screen on the window, no bathroom in the room, all for $297 a night.
Best thing in this hostel is its location. Main negative point is the showers/washrooms cleanliness.
After reading reviews I found many were wrong? Some of the nicest people at the front desk, and working the rooms, who were very helpful, polite and helping me with questions about the city! It was not noisy as listed and did not hear the bar below! It was a really nice place and I will stay there again if in Vancouver!
My stay in Cambie is very convenient especially the locations to the airport, landmarks in the downtown and public transportations like the buses and skytrain.
Everything was good.
Very rundown place, no AC. Try to avoid this place if you can!
Area is good
Very convenient for me
3 nights in Vancouver
Great location in downtown Vancouver, easy to get around from here. It was hot during my stay & it's an old building with no a/con, but other than that it was fine for my stay.
Hostel was in a good property. Downside was the lack of air conditioning in the room / or natural air.
The room was rather small and very hot. We had to keep the window open so as not to suffocate in the night, and since the accommodation is located in downtown Vancouver it was super loud during the night. Additionally the towels were dirty and there was mould in the communal showers. I would not recommend.
Perfect for what I needed. Will definitely stay here again:)
Affordable place to stay, works for a couple days. Only call outs is they do not have AC. It’s an old building so it got quite hot inside even when it was only 12 outside. Also, it’s over a bar and across the street from a nightclub. On weekends if you plan to go out this place is great, but if you want to go to sleep early to explore it is quite loud and hard to sleep.
Great place to stay.
Great clean and centrally located hostel in downtown Vancouver.
Location is great. Super close to Canada Place and Gastown. Next to the road so its a bit loud and theres a bar below so expect it to be loud. I dont care about it. I will stay here again. Simple place yo stay on a budget.
I would like to see improvements in safety.
The location of the building is impeccable. However, it's important to remember that this is a hostel, not a hotel, so the price is the main attraction and should not be overlooked. The shared bathroom facilities, including the shower rooms, are separated for males and females. However, when I arrived, a man came out of the women's shower room. And also it seems that some female guests also neglect to lock the bathroom door when using the shower, so there are safety concerns.

No one should go near Either Cambie hostels they are DISGUSTING inside and outside there is an abundance of Street people around both hostels making no one safe. I left this property and went to a nice clean safe property. Please pull both Cambie hostels from your web page
