Nice hostess
Beautiful old house but would be a warmer stay during the months outside winter. The hostess, Danielle, was excellent and helped us stay warm. Cancellations cannot be made after 72 hours before check-in. Is rather restrictive. We departed 1 day early, because it was too cold to downhill ski. Even though we departed at 9am, 1 day early, we had to pay for the not-used departure day. In hindsight, we should have stayed at a hotel. We would have not lost the $$

Beautiful. My room was large suite with great windows for lots of light. The decor was true to the origins of the house. I would recommend it to anyone
We so enjoyed how this property was fairly newly and tastefully renovated. Tho it may not be the most quiet (busy street) or convenient to downtown, it was comfortable! Beautiful surroundings, bed was great, and the breakfast very good. Danielle was an awesome host.
Television in room didn't work. No staff after hours to trouble-shoot. "Basic" room aptly described - very basic, dated furniture, no bathroom in room.
Superior to a Hotel
I had never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast before so I wasn't sure what to expect. As it turned out, it was a terrific choice. It was definitely not a cookie-cutter hotel room experience. The room and bathroom were very nice. The house itself had lovely common areas. The neighborhood was a little out of the way from downtown Fredericton, but not prohibitively so (only a 30 min walk). The area and house were very quiet at night; very relaxing experience overall. I would recommend.
By The River has been restored to its century old grandness. It is just an awe inspiring place to spend a night. The innkeeper was warm and friendly, great breakfast served in the grand dining room. Very special place, loved it.
Great breakfast and comfortable rooms.
The person that runs the place is a young woman. She is welcoming, helpfull and charming.
The property is an old and historic house, in need of a bit of tlc and the decorative touches that would make it interesting to the b & b crowd. The staff was pleasant and willing, but slightly overwhelmed by the many demands of their guests. Breakfast was ample and well cooked, but would have benefitted by the addition of a glass of orange juice or a piece of fruit. Not a bad stay by any measure, but not quite living up to its mark.
A charming historical property on the outskirts of Fredericton. Breakfast was yummy.
Welcoming and helpful staff, several choices for breakfast, several comfortable areas to hang out, including a lovely piano to play, games , booksand a lovely porch to sit outside. We loved rm#1the Executive suite. Coffee and tea and a small refrigerator to save leftovers. It was a very pleasant stay.
It was a beautifully kept old Victorian house. The hostess, Danielle, was very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was tasty. And there was plenty of hot water for showers. I'll be choosing By the Riber B & B again.
Clean, comfortable, and quiet.
Everything
Excellent breakfast, bed was too hard for myself and pillows not so good
Lovely place and staff are excellent.
We booked a king suite room as a treat. Overall our stay was great. The nitty gritty: They keep the main areas very warm, but the room has A/C. It's an old house, so the stair ways are narrow and steep, and may be a challenge for older people. We got the room with a fancy bathtub but it was hard to figure out how to work and there were no instructions. There's also a sign asking not to use it after 10pm. I wish there was an information sheet in the room, explaining how to contact someone if help is needed, how to check out, etc. would go again!
We live in an old home. It was a pleasure to stay in this lovely beautifully renovated old building. Our room had a little porch attached. We communed with the trees and felt very grateful.
Second time we have stayed in 2 yrs, highly recommend
All good.
Beautiful, charming, romantic room with deliciously comfortable bed and jacuzzi bathtub. However, the front entrance stairs to the porch were wobbly and frightening.
Beautiful property. Quiet. Comfortable.
Beautiful property and the Innkeeper was very friendly and welcoming.
Nicely kept old house! Great breakfast and friendly staff. Room was fabulous!
Nice accommodations and good location.
Charming old property. Lovely, clean room. Friendly service. Walkable along the river to nice restaurants, etc.
Loved our stay, such a beautiful place. Staff are super friendly and accomadating. Easy walk to go for dinner.
Large washroom
Beautiful B&B suites with private bathrooms Excellent location and service
This is a well-appointed, well-maintained property, with courteous, helpful and friendly hosts. Our king size bed was very comfortable with excellent linens. There were multiple choices for breakfast, and they were all delicious! We will definitely stay here again on future visits.
stayed 2 nights. One night no coffee/cookies no one about to ask quesdtions or how to contact staff etc Just sign in sign out - no one about Bed , rooms setting very good having staff member about helps sell future sales, give place character
No welcome!
Check-in was delayed over an hour because no one was there, even with advance notice by 3 guests who planned to arrive after 6. Finally called listed number and were given instructions to check in by phone! This was a poor start for a stay at a nice facility.
Lovely accommodation and a friendly warm greeting. Easy walk to the town centre
Great location. Quiet and convenient parking
Loved staying there! Beautiful house and I fell in love with the staff! Highly recommend
The old house was very charming in nice Victorian style. I liked that you were able to order breakfast the night beforehand. The room was not great, due to the bathroom being in the hall way. The bed was also not comfortable. The other rooms in the B&B looked very nice, just make sure you don’t get the Violet room
Very nice inn, comfortable beds
I so enjoyed my stay my room was so sweet Ivory white with gold accents it was so restful! Breakfast was delicious Thank you for saving this beautiful place!
Great stay
I was very pleased with my stay Coral and Danielle were very helpful and lovely ,breakfast was always yummy and the house was full of character
Pretty and unique. Great staff. Good food
Charming B&B friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.
Frankly, it was not a good stay for us at by the river. We arrived there on Saturday 3h:30 pm, we were kindly welcomed after waiting around 7 minutes for someone to open the door. Once we got into the room, we needed to iron some clothes so we spoke to a young lady in charge who told us she would check, 5 minutes later, she came back and apologized as she couldn’t provide us with an iron, we complained, but she politely said that we can leave if we are not satisfied and she will refund us the money, we booked in another hotel and went down to ask for the refund, surprisingly she told us she cannot refund us the money and that she spoke to the owner who told her she didn’t do anything wrong and that she is not supposed to refund any money, we surely complained as she promised to refund us, she then reacted in a rude way and asked us to leave saying : “ please leave, I have enough, this my home and I am asking you to leave “ so we left. Briefly, she took our money and fired us simply because we asked for an iron and complained about it.
Will go back
Only stayed one night but will definitely go back. Late check in was accommodated amd easy. Liked that we could order our included breakfast.. bed very comfortable, large room. Nothing negative to say
Nice staff
Felt like home
What a lovely place to stay! Both the room and the bathroom were clean and fresh breakfast was made every day and served with a wide smile that lit up my day. It felt like home. Also, the B&B is located in quiet part of a city, yet close to downtown, and there is a bus stop right in front of it.
Beautiful, clean accommodations with excellent service.
Loved our stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast we stayed in the honeymoon suite absolutely beautiful, huge room. Beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi tub, breakfast the next morning was delicious. We will return! Staff and owner were extremely friendly. 😊
Charming,clean,comfortable,fresh, historic
Beautiful big old Queen Anne Victorian style home built in 1903, with fresh and comfortable guest rooms, modern amenities, and home-cooked breakfast. Great service; hope to visit again soon! Also has a reasonably priced spa menu - we may try some services next visit!
Beautiful and elegant!
Very nice room lots of room very large bathroom comfy bed
Good
The experience was wonderful, very clean and very relaxing
We enjoyed our stay
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Our room was excellent. The bed was super cozy. The jacuzzi tub was very relaxing. The breakfast was excellent and the host was very nice. I loved the decor. It was very quiet. It was great for a peaceful night away.
The owners are very pleasant and responsive to requests.
We love this old house. It has been beautifully restored. It feels like a step back in time.
Absolutely no communication and extremely poor service for the breakfast. Nice B&B but staff need to step up their game.
Beautiful old Victorian B&B. Excellent sleep- very comfortable bed. Very clean and professional operation
We loved our time staying here. Our host, Coral, was very friendly and helpful. The delicious and generous breakfast was a treat. Thanks!
Truly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back again.
Lodgings were affordably priced and within walking distance of restaurants and the venue where I was taking a week long course.
Quaint, clean
Exactly as advertised – charming Victorian elegance.
The building, entry way and parlour are beautiful.
Perfect location! I walked to many places. The Bed & Breakfast is located in an old magnificent mansion and the rooms are HUGE and extremely comfortable. The best part are the owners. They are sweet, nice, professional and the breakfasts are superb. I will definitely stay there again. Thank you!
Very well kept place. Beautiful. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was great! Definitely staying there again!
Wonderful stay. Great breakfast. Lovely host
A beautiful century home. Needs to be upgraded. Mattress and pillows uncomfortable. Breakfast adequate.
This is a beautifully renovated all house, comfortable, located in a great area of the city.
By the River is a beautfiful old House that has been restored. Do you feel like you’re stepping back in time. The hosts are Polite and courteous.
Beautiful rooms, well appointed.
Spotless and lovely honeymoon suite. Perfect breakfast and amazing spacious home with interesting history. Excellent all round!
Beautiful home, kind hosts.
Very nicely restored. Looked great. Staff were great as was the food. Coffee on the veranda during a rain storm, can't buy that.
Lovely, charming and beautiful space with incredibly kind and helpful staff, delicious breakfast and respectful guests. Would definitely return
Extremely clean and so cute!
Nice historic B&B
People were helpful. Location, parking, wifi was all excellent. Excellent value. Zero complaints.
Very good location. Excellent room.
Great place…so beautiful and peaceful!
Wasn’t a warm atmosphere. Poorly decorated. Good food. Not really the atmosphere you’d expect in BC a B&B. By the River… can’t see the River. Yard is a mess.
Older motel….exterior needs work…not appealing… Inside is clean…staff are very obliging and kind…ignore the outside and I’d give this a 4 star…
Very friendly and easily walkable!
The rooms were clean. Breakfast was great! Easy parking ! Friendly owner!
.
I happened to be at this b&b the first uear thre river was so high it wiped out the beach. I will need to go back for sure
Comfort and beauty
I love this place. The B&B is in an old, beautiful house on the Saint John River. Nearby you can join a walking trail along the river (you can enter the trail by the Diplomat Restaurant) and enjoy a nice stroll to downtown, passing the Lieutenant Governor's residence on the way. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The price was quite reasonable. I highly recommend staying here.
Not as advertised
Property is nice. The food is acceptable, but not excellent. Would not recommend for breakfast. No chatting from the owners. They did not make us feel welcome or at home.
Nice rooms, excellent food, quiet area,
This beautiful victorian style B & B is convenient to down town - right on the river trail - so very walkable. Room is lovely and appointed well. Check in was super simple and common areas and yard are very nice.
Lovely place to stay. We will come back if we are in Fredericton. Very comfortable and clean. Amazing history to the very grand building. Wonderful hosts
All of it
Beautiful old house. Very clean. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Great breakfasts. Hosts drove me to the bus station because they were going that way anyway. How kind! Very convenient location to the relative I was visiting. Beautiful neighborhood and great walking opportunities. Three good restaurants close by.
Beautiful b and b
A beautiful old home with modern rooms
Beautiful house and very welcoming host. Love the bathroom
We are not used to Bed and Breakfast type of accomodations and it was a little bit like being in someones house, which it was. Everything was fine and the owner is great, no issues. If you are not accustomed to B&Bs, you may want to have a good think about it. The house is beautiful and the owner war and welcoming!!
The property was truly wonderful. The architecture, the finishes were wonderful. The staff were great. The only problem was the king bed in the executive suit. Very uncomfortable. There needs to be an upgrade. This was not a true king size bed.
