Great place, highly recommended, owner very attentive, be sure to read your welcome email if arriving later in the day to get entry info, bldg not readily recognizeable, it is near the Salad Box, we think the BigBus hop-onoff tour bus may be better option, love the place ......

Andras the host was always accessible and extremely helpful in all matters. Not to mention quite funny. His English is excellent. Facilities were fantastic — extremely clean. All furniture appeared to be brand new and plenty of room for storage. Also, a ton of electrical outlets. The breakfast spread was incredible. HIGHLY recommend staying at Butterfly Home. The location couldn’t have been better! Literally across the street from the Danube and Liberty Bridge. 5/5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Deception and misrepresentation

When we checked into Butterfly Home in the early evening we met one of the workers at the entry gate and he led us to a large room with my name written in chalk on the door. At no point did he inform us that we were in an upgraded room or that we would have to pay more for the room as we had paid for three nights in the standard room. The next morning we met with the main owner (Andras I believe?) and he informed us that we had come to the wrong property even though it was the address listed on the hotels.com reservation. He also mentioned this had been an ongoing problem. He told us that it was a more expensive room and we needed to move to another room in the same building, which we did. Imagine our surprise when we were charged an extra $154 on top of our 3 nights booking fee! If we had been directed to the proper location or proper room when we first arrived, this would have been acceptable. However, directing us to an upgraded room without telling us until the next morning is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Why was our name written in chalk on the door? Why did the first person who met us not tell us that we had to pay extra money for the room? We tried to settle this issue through hotels.com but were told that the owners were firm in their decision. We believe they should not do their business in this dishonest way because other people who try to book this place through hotels.com might go through the same problems as we did. We feel we were scammed.

Amazing view/ late access

It was amazing over there. Even we arrived in the night, we could access to the place thank to the good explanation of the staff and the late running of the cable car.

At a B&B which room matters

Butterfly Pent house has 3 rooms. #1 is very good and on the level with the lift and very nice breakfast area and lounge #2&3 require going up a narrow spiral staircase #2 is large and has a modern bathroom. (Tub ok, shower not working) AC and WIFI worked. #3 a rolling disaster. Bath is very tiny, shower is an add on, in the sleeping area. AC inadequate plus they could not figure out how to turn off heater. WiFi didn’t work, the patio was dismal, actually a low roof top with no breeze. The folks are really great. Eventually we moved out of 3 to 2. Breakfast was fine, with eggs to order. The young woman our first day was very helpful with directions. If I never saw room 3 my rating would be higher

Lovely stay at the butterfly home

Had a lovely stay at the butterfly home for 3 nights. The room with the river view was amazing. The budget room was suitable too. Breakfast was really good. Locationwise it was near the underground and tram station so we could go everywhere easily. Andreash was really kind and gave really good tips and advices too :) So overall i will give it a 5/5

"Problem with your room" then attempt to scam

When we arrived at the airport, the driver that had been arranged by the hotel was there to greet us. We got in her vehicle, and her phone rang. It was the owner of the B and B, Andras. He wanted to speak to us. He told me "there is a problem with your room". He didn't say what. He went on to say "I have booked you at a very nice 4 star hotel just one block away. It was more expensive, but I paid for the room and paid the difference. You will pay me when you leave. And please come over to our B and B for our breakfast". When we arrived at the "4 star" hotel, the staff were very accommodating. It was not the type of hotel that we would have stayed in, and certainly was not "4 star" by North American standards. But we were so jetlagged, and at that point there was nothing we could do. The next morning, I asked how much the Butterfly Home had paid for the room, and was told 94 Euros. This was much less than the 181 Euros for our original reservation through hotels.com. When we went to settle the bill with the Butterfly Home folks, they told us we owed 181 Euros. I refused to pay this. We settled on 96 Euros (not sure why the addition 2 Euros, but were told it was a "tax"). Andras and his team tried to scam us. Why would we pay 181 Euros when he had only paid 94 Euros for the alternative room at another hotel. And we never found out what the "problem" was with our original booking. Please be aware -- this guy is a scam artist!

Good B&B

Nothing to see from the outside, just a 5 storey building with the only sign being on the buzzer. But on the 3rd floor there was a cozy 7 room B&B. Large variety of good food for breakfast. Great location next to Vaci St and the Central Market. Friendly, helpful hosts.

Beautiful Danube River View

I was expecting more like a guest house, but this beautiful facility is a private home B and B. The facility had recently moved locations prior to our stay, to a facility with fewer rooms than advertised, so were overbooked so we did not stay our first night in the B and B, we stayed in an apartment owned by the same business two blocks away. The second night there was space in the main facility. I had booked through Hotels.com as I was traveling alone with my daughter and during those times seek a facility/hotel rather than a single place through Air B and B due to it feeling more secure. So that was my only negative feedback, that there was not available a place in the main location with part time concierge, and that the place that was available, while amazing, was way too secluded for my comfort as a single woman travelling with a child. I was very impressed with the kindness and helpfulness of the staff who made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful in assisting us to get acclimated, and explaining for, and apologizing to us for the change in reservation. I imagine now that they have completed this move, this should no longer be an issue for those who do not want a geographically separate place.

great nightlife and simple but perfect rooms

The staff was very helpful once we got through a hiccup or two with communication around the online booking. I hope that that can be resolved in the future because it seems like the hotel must have to do a lot of negotiation just to cover deals made from antiquated websites. The actual deal and hotel is wonderful.

Unreliable

Not a good experience. Ended up needing to book another hotel (at 10pm the night of checkin). Thought it seemed strange that so many reviews mentioned a change of address after booking. Sure enough, location was changed via email to someplace a few blocks away in what was apparently a large apartment building. I showed up at 10pm and no own answered the buzzer or the phone. I even sent an email and a half hour later I got an email response saying I was required to notify them if I arrived after 9pm...something they'd neglected to mention in their earlier email. It obviously wasn't worth their effort to answer the phone or to come let me in. The hotel around the corner was very helpful and even tried to phone them for me. Thankfully was able to book a room at that hotel instead, rather than spending the winter night on the street.

The Butterfly Home--better than hoped for!

When our original lodging reservation was cancelled just a few days prior to our arrival, the proprietors of The Butterfly Home found us new accommodations in a larger room in a newer property, with an elevator, and in a more convenient location than we had previously. They arranged for transfers from/to the train station/airport, as well as making reservations for us at restaurants and for concerts. Ernie, who checked us in, was very friendly and wanted to make sure our stay in Budapest was perfect. He made sure we had breakfast foods we liked, steered us toward restaurants and attractions that we thoroughly enjoyed, and even walked me to an ATM one night to make sure I was safe and didn't have any problems with either the language or the machine itself. We loved the location--just across from The Great Market Hall. The streets were always full of people, making us feel safe at all hours. (This also meant that there was some street noise...it didn't bother us, but if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.) We have absolutely no complaints. We love good customer service and The Butterfly Home did not disappoint!

Charming small hotel in ideal location

We could not have received friendlier and more personalized treatment. The Butterfly Home is ideally situated, in the heart of the inner city. The building is old, as it should be, but the rooms modern.

Perfect Pied a Terre in (Buda)Pest

This lovely place is somewhere between a B&B and hotel...great staff to make sure you are comfortable and provide tips about local restaurants and must-do activities with the feel of a cozy traditional B&B, complete with great breakfasts and an adorable lobby dog. The location is ideal for exploring Pest and Buda and is a short walk from the Jewish Quarter in case you need to stumble home from one of many ruin bars in the early hours after night of fun.

Amazing Staff and great location

Best things about this B&B are location near metro in city center on pedestrian street, so little noise! Also, the owner speaks perfect English (he lived in Canada for a number of years) and he knows everything worth knowing about Budapest.I arrived well before check in time and was treated to a cup of coffee and expert advise on what to see. When I returned in the evening, my luggage was already in my room. Room air conditioner was powerful enough to combat the 90 degree heat outside. Only warning is this is an older building and charm means you have to be prepared to climb some stairs.

My Hungarian Hideaway

All the places that I stayed in this year, this B&B was my favourite. As well as the room and location, what I really liked was the staff - their friendliness and the helpfulness! Even before I left Oz, I was exchanging e-mails about this, that and the other and there was no limit to the owner and his staff's helpfulness. Breakfast was good - as well as the continental breakfast I could have eggs prepared for me any way I like. Well done guys! MilFromOz.

Great place to stay in Budapest

Stayed 3 nights in the junior suite (paid for a normal room). The room was modern and nice, despite the older look of the lobby/stairs areas leading up. I did not spend much time in the sitting area, as the television was near the bed, but the couch was comfortable. The mattress was just right for me--not too hard nor soft. Breakfast was excellent, with an array of breads and fruit, French toast, sliced cold cuts and cheeses, and spreads for your toast. Also included was an a la carte menu featuring omelets or eggs/meat cooked to order. They have an espresso machine for coffee drinks, but also had tea and orange juice. Andras was a wonderful host and all the staff members had good recommendations for places to eat/things to do. Having a nice place to rest my head at night made my vacation that much better. The hotel is on a quiet, pedestrian-only street so I had no noise issues at night. I highly recommend staying here! Extra tip: they have USB chargers to lend you if you forget yours, or your electrical adapter doesn't work.

Very Friendly and sooo helpful.

The owner Andras couldn't have been more helpful. He booked a car from the airport, helped us sort out itinerary and even booked restaurants for the evening. Breakfast was a nice friendly atmosphere and we even had a free upgrade to the suite. There was a slight smell to the drain in the bathroom which once we reported it, Andras was quick to try and remedy. All in all, a very comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place

The Butterfly Home was perfect! Super comfortable and a great location. Best of all was the staff, all of them. Really helpful and kind. Got a great general orientation to the city on arrival and great help all through the stay, including help with transportation, reservations, and especially recommendations. Although everyone was fantastic, I want to especially single out Roland. I'm a big jazz fan and Roland provided excellent insights into the jazz scene. There is a lot of jazz to feast on in the area, and Roland's advice really helped me make the most of it. I realize this review is filled with superlatives, but that's how I felt about the hotel. When I return to Budapest, I will juggle my schedule if necessary to make sure I can stay here again.

Classy, quiet, and homey

I like small lodgings on small side streets to get away from the crowds when I go "home", and this was perfect. I picked the location for being close to the Balna, where I'd be attending a conference each day, but it turned out to also be comfortable walking distance to many of the city's sights. 5 minute walk to the Market Hall, where public transportation and the Hop On Hop Off bus can be used. The restaurant downstairs on the corner is top notch, with many other good ones close by. My room was HUGE, with tall ceilings and giant windows. But best of all is the host, Andras, who was always cheerful and a wealth of information about the city to answer my questions: restaurant recommendations, things to see, how to tip, what to buy to take home, and access to reputable taxi cabs! (BEWARE OF TAXIS IN BUDAPEST!) Everyone on the staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and fluent in English. And breakfast was great, made to order. I would stay here again if I return to Budapest.

Quirky B&B In Great Location

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Budapest for the first time and were blown away by what a great place it was. Architecturally stunning in places and set on the Danube it didn't disappoint. We will be back and next time it will be for longer. For us the slight downside was eating out can be a little expensive but there is plenty of choices.

Nice Location

The Butterfly Home is a nice hotel in a nice section of the city. Fantastic breakfast included with our stay. Staff and owner were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I can't give a complete review as there was a reservation mix-up and they put us up in a studio apartment next door. For what it is worth, the apartment was very nice. Lots of modern amenities including Internet, TV, large bathroom, kitchen, etc.

Hidden Gem

This is a hidden gem. Located close to the Metro and the trolley it allowed us to explore the city yet still tucked away from the noise of the city. The accommodations were very adequate for a couple and were clean and modern. The service was great. Andrus gave us great tips on places to explore. Breakfast was great with made to order omelettes. There is no elevator but the stairs were just fine for us.

A great stay!

They have options for pick up and drop off at the train station or airport. Best breakfast of any of my other hotels/pensions in Europe. Huge room, close to metro, and a mascot dog!

Hidden gem in great neighborhood

My room was huge and well-appointed, with coffee/tea and a modern bathroom. The windows stretched up to the ceiling and looked out on a charming side street. Breakfast was phenomenal, with cappuccino and omelets made to order, in addition to a lovely buffet layout. The proprietor was very service-oriented, pointing out the best jazz clubs and non-touristy restaurants. The Butterfly Home is right in the heart of restaurants, museums and shopping. If you want to venture farther, public transportation is nearby, and taxis are easy to find. I will definitely stay there the next time I am in Budapest, the Pearl of the Danube.

We stayed a week at the Butterfly Home, Andras and Roland were both very helpful, answering our questions and giving information about the city. The location was ideal just 200 metres from the metro station and 1km from the Gellert Hill, and most of the other sites of interest were within walking distance. The hotel itself was very clean and we had a lounge attached to our room, breakfast was in the restaurant next door, where Andras' father in law cooked up some yummy omelets. If we return to Budapest we would certainly stay there again

Great location in the cheaper end of town- a great location very close to a metro station. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Coffee was the best I have had for a long time.

Strongly recommended!!

Very quiet hotel close to the center of the city and subway. You can't ask for a better hotel staff, I mean Andrea, the owner and manager. He emailed us prior to our arrival with detailed directions with all the options described. He even took the time to warn us to be aware of the pocket-picker, though we never experienced anything like that. When we arrived shortly after noon, he was waiting in front of the hotel to greet us. The breakfast was nice, he will make and serve you coffee. He speaks fluent English and is very helpful in terms of giving you tips about saving money. The hotel is located in a very quiet street, yet close enough to the attractions. It is only 3 minutes from the Central market where you can buy souvenirs and local products to take home. We traveled to 4 countries this time and stayed in 6 hotels. They are all very good, but we have to give the best to this one.1

Nice hotel close to most main attractions and close to tram stops. Room basic but nice. Delicious breakfast every morning. Helpful host that's happy to point things out on map and make recommendations.

Nice find in a cute neighborhood

Great quaint place to stay with personalized service by the owner. The only negative was that because it's not a regular hotel it doesn't have someone at the front desk 24/7. So one night when we came in and the lights weren't working (around 10pm) we had to email the owner and wait to hear back from him. Eventually the problem was resolved (within 30mts to be fair), but just something to be aware of!

Bed and Breakfast in great location

The Butterfly Home had great service as soon as we walked in the door. The staff knew their city and were very helpful in finding local shops, restaurants and places to see that were off the beaten path. We definitely explored the city and felt how it would be like to live in Budapest. The room was large for 3 adults with large windows to get fresh air. The breakfast was in a cute restaurant right next door with a chef on hand to cook certain breakfast dishes in the morning, as well as a buffet; simply delicious and with great decor! A definite plus! We were in walking distance to everything the city has to offer, as well as close to public transport. Overall, a quaint place that was perfect for the few days we were there!

Warm Budapest welcome

Had a lovely warm welcome. Got collected from the airport too which was very reasonable €25. We stayed in a spacious room with nice bathroom, fridge and lots of tv channels - if you have time to watch anything. Delicious breakfast and coffee next morning cooked by Andras our host selected from a menu. Really couldn't do enough for us. I would stay here again as the location is great. The hotel is near the Market and Vaci street and the subway. But it's very quiet and you feel you are getting an authentic Budapest experience. There are lots of excellent restaurants in the area too.

A Must Stay Hotel

This hotel exceeding my expectations. My double-bed room was modern, extremely spacious, and the staff and owner very friendly and informative. I received a "must-do" list after check-in, given tips on paying, walking, and where I was in relation to other things, and the owner was very helpful in recommending restaurants, tours, and even checked on me when I missed breakfast the first day due to jet-lag. Butterfly home is small, intimate, modern, and in a very central location. The breakfast was also top notch. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Budapest in part because of my great experience at Butterfly Home.

Good service

We were very lucky to be upgraded to a superior room. And it's so nice to be allowed to check in in early morning and leave our luggage at the reception after check out. The service was really good. And they tried their very best to arrange everything just for you. I would definitely stay here again if I go to Budapest again.

Best in Budapest

Our experience in Budapest was great from beginning to end. The history and sights of the city are breathtaking both day and night. The city is clean with no rubbish left on streets or walkways.

Old world small hotel

We stayed two nights at Butterfly Home on our way to a riverboat cruise. The hotel was inviting, clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was more than expected. The staff are wonderful - friendly, helpful and always ready to give you directions, make reservations or advise you on the best the city has to offer. The location is great - close to the market, great restaurants, etc. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to someday return for another visit.

Home Away

I am really happy that I decided to stay at this B&B instead of the bigger hotels where I had stayed before. It was in a great walking neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants and I felt very much a part of the fabric of the city, The owner, Andras, was incredibly personable and helpful. I was sharing this vacation with a friend and we both loved our stay.

Perfect

From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted . Tonic and his staff Bori went out of their way to give suggestions or assist in any way. The room was absolutely delightful, the breakfast offered a wide selection and the location was close to the metro and trams. Many lovely cafes and restaurants nearby - our favourite was Cafe Alibi which is near the University for Law. Would highly recommend Butterfly Home.

Great location and value

The accommodation was delightful, much better than some 4 star hotels we have stayed in. The staff could not have been more helpful, they were most obliging and went out of their way to seek information we required that was not in anyway related to the hotel.

Could not fault this B&B in any way. The owners went out of their way to make the stay one to remember. The location could not be any better, on a quiet street (car free) but only a very short walk to the metro and tram stops. Wouldn't look to stay anywhere else if I visited Budapest again

The service alone was worth the price

This was my first trip to Budapest and it's always hard (but fun) to pick out a place when you're thousands of miles away. What reviews do you trust? Which internet sites do you trust? Well, the reviews for Butterfly Home were consistently positive and I'm going to help that trend continue. The location is on a quiet pedestrian alley which was a huge bonus for me. That being said, the location was perfect for walking to the city's highlights or catching tourist and local transportation. The room was clean and huge with high ceilings and modern touches. The breakfast (included) was the best I had at a hotel while on a 3-week trip. Finally, the service was remarkable from start to finish. The young owners are doing an amazing job with running this place and I hope they continue to maintain a superior and friendly level of service. Sorry Hilton, Marriott, Four Seasons (yes, you too) but the service I had here was better than I've had at any of your hotel. Butterfly Home provides friendly, personalized and genuine service.

Tres bon acceuil, la chambre est propre et spacieuse, idealement situe a cote du metro et du tram,les produits du petit dejeuner sont divers et suffisants,si un progres devrait etre fait il concerne l'insonnorisation des chambres, la notre donnait sur le rue et pour les gens avec un sommeil leger cela pose un probleme, de meme notre chambre donnait directement sur la salle du petit dejeuner donc reveil obligatoire a 7h00

Dissapointment

just after landing, being in front of the Butterfly Home, I received information that we got accommodation in different part of city...what occured later in really dissapointing conditions. we were not even proposed any compensation...The room was smelling cigarette smoke, there was mole on the walls in bathroom...as on the pictures. The owner is very very kind person, however the conditions are extremely different from those which we reserved...as an allergic we had to move after one night an look for another hotel...

Ikke ok

Fik først det rigtige værelse dag 2 overbooket. Der var ikke rent, ting der manglede, toiletpapir, pærer, batterier til fjernbetjening blev ikke ordnet trods påtale. Ingen nye håndklæder på 5 dage.

An ok stay

The butterfly home was nice enough. It was close to a lot, so walking everywhete was not a problem. We arrived after nine in the evening, so there was no one in the reception, but the cabdriver we had booked via the hotel let us in. We missed information in our room of how to use the codes and key (four doors and gates to get through). And they have a way to go when it comes to cleaning the rooms, did not feel like it had been cleaned good enough. Also there was a lot of noise coming from the pipes. But other than that it was nice. The staff was super nice and helpful, they gave great tips of how to get around and what to see. The breakfast was good enough. It is a cheap stay, so i felt we got what we paid for. Would recommend if you want a cheap stay!

Super adresse. Andras est tres accueillant et de bon conseil. Il parle francais et anglais. Notre chambre etait tres bien equipee et spatieuse. C est un b&b : ça rend l ensemble très convivial. Il y a une terrasse couverte commune agréable pour flaner et dejeuner. Tout est fait pour qu on s y sentz bien. Le b&b est très bizn placé face au pont, au marché et à deux pas des restos et hyper centre

Fick en lägenhet på annan ort! Nyckel saknades när jag kom fram! Fick vänta 01:30 på natten så att det kom nån och öppnade! Fick en nytt rum på annan ort som var ännu sämre! Kommer att begära en återbetalning, då jag fick boka ett annat hotell!!! Fick plats på Bohemart hotell!!! Billigare & 100 gr bättre!!!

Budapest

Var inte säker på vart vi skulle hamna när vi bokade detta B&B. Men allt löste sig när András som äger stället svarade oss direkt på sms när vi hade en fråga. Vi fick ett snyggt rum med ett härligt badrum väldigt centralt. Skulle rekommendera detta ställe varmt. Tack András för alla tips och hjälp med biljetter till Gellerts! Positiva saker + smidig och informationsrik incheckning + jätte trevlig och hjälpsam personal + mysigt och välstädat rum + bra läge + ok frukost Negativa saker - glasdörr till ett super litet badrum där det inte fans en enda krok för handdukar - mycket trafik utanför på vardagar (lugnt på helgen) - något slitna lakan och knöliga kuddar, annars skön säng

Café da manhã espetacular, com variedade de queijos, frios, pães, iogurtes, fruras e doces. Quarto com um bom espaço, banheiro grande, com ótimo chuveiro. O único problema é o aquecedor de agua, que fica no banheiro e parece servir outros banheiros. Fiquei no quarto 5.

Betrug! Falls Ihr Euch Euren Budapest Urlaub so richtig verübeln wollt, bucht dieses B&B. Am Anreisetag gab es spontan um 18 Uhr eine Nachricht, daß das gebuchte Zimmer wegen Elektroproblemen nicht verfügbar ist. Stattdessen wird man in ein Appartement in einem anderen Stadtteil gekarrt. Gefühltes 60er Jahre Ostblockflair, durchgejegene Matratzen, kein frisches Bettzeug ... am nächsten Morgen geht's zum richtigen B&B zum 'Frühstuck' in einer Art WG. Das Zimmer ist noch nicht bereit, aber vielleicht nachmittags?? Wer weiß das schon so genau. Der versprochene Donaublick für 40€ / Nacht extra? Nicht vorhanden... Der arme Kerl vor Ort muss alles alleine regeln, vom Inhaber keine Spur... Wir haben dann einen Schlussstrich gezogen und vorgeschlagen, das ganze Elend abzubrechen. Folgende Abmachung: wir gehen einfach, keine Zahlung für die 1. Horrornacht, dafür gibt es von uns keine negativen Bewertungen. So weit so gut? Mitnichten, uns wurde der gesamte Betrag für geplante 4 Nächte von der Kreditkarte abgebucht. Auf meine Anfragen, daß es sich doch hoffentlich nur um ein Missverständnis handelt, keine Reaktion. Bucht niemals dieses schreckliche B&B !!!

Erro na cobrança da estadia

Foi-me cobrada uma noite a mais. Reportei a situação logo no momento, fiZ reclamação por e-mail e até agora não tive nenhum feedback

Situation idéale

Hôtel idéalement situé, proche de toutes commodités de transport ( taxi, métro). A proximité du pont szabagsag et face au grand marché couvert. Personnel très sympathique

Fel adress på hotellet

Hotellet låg inte på utlovad adress, valde ett hotell med centralt läge men detta låg 30 min promenadväg från det område vi önskat. Tråkig frukost med kallt kaffe, trevlig kvinna som jobbade där.
