We stayed in a suite. I chose this place because it came with parking included and price was very reasonable. The AC/Heater worked great, the water pressure was great, the rooms were cozy, clean and spacious, microwave was huge, the roof patio was very cool, and the customer service went above and beyond! I would definitely stay here again!

Rooms are ok but the sheets and pillows smell awful.

This property workout out perfect for what we needed it for ! Me and my partner decided to go bar hoping and it was at a great location to do so !! We were able to walk there and back with no issues. Rooms were clean and comfy ! I have 0 complaints enjoyed my stay at this property !!

Very accommodating

Neighbourhood: Fairly clean, mostly just have to worry about dog-owners not picking up. 10-15 min walk to numerous areas with lots of restaurants (Union St, Chestnut St, Polk St, Ghirardelli Square). Transit: Excellent. Bus stop directly in front and across the street. You can get to/from the airport with a bus and train ride (about 60-90 min). Front Desk: I made requests for quiet room with a handheld showerhead, and they were able to accommodate by purchasing a showerhead since the available room didn't have one pre-installed. They also had electric kettles and plastic cutlery upon request. My room was above the garden, and there were people smoking weed there and it was getting into the room. After I brought it up to them (smoking is permissible on grounds, just not in rooms), they took care of it. Room: A/C / heater unit was a bit dusty, and turning it on triggered my allergies. The room shows its wear & tear, but clean and comfortable. The provided toiletries are harsh on the skin & hair, and no body lotion is provided. Conditioner wasn't strong enough. You can still hear people above and beside you, but not what they're saying if they're speaking average volume level. Conclusion: I would stay here again for the value and area.

I was looking around to see what there was to do around the SF area and I wanted to be a tourist, so I got the big bus tour ticket. It's the bus where you can hop on and hop off all day. It turns out that this hotel is one of the stops which made it so convenient for us. And I found this out after booking the hotel which was a nice bonus!

My stay at the Buena Vista Motor Inn was top notch as a solo traveler, I had everything I needed! Quiet, clean, safe: everything was really perfect. Only thing is that my shower head was leaking a bit and I was afraid it’d seep into the floor. Otherwise, I slept so well, the best sleep I’ve had on vacation. Great price and great location too, highly recommended!

Excellent place to stay with some reasonable parking options and great service! We had no trouble parking during the weekend and had a quiet room away from the street. It’s a great spot if you’re mainly looking for a place to sleep and park. It’s also within reasonable walking distance (25 minutes) of the Fisherman’s Wharf with a nice walk along the bay.

Great location with free and easy access parking tight fit in garage though. Be careful. Can walk to restaurants and coffee shops but need Uber to the piers

Excellent location and right on the bus line. Relatively quiet for the city. We were in the suite, which was very spacious. Friendly and helpful staff.

Property needs upgrade

The parking is very convenient, the room was super clean and since this is a hotel with a hallway, there was no outside San Francisco noise. The front desk people are very nice and polite. We look forward to staying there again. Thanks from Jeff Shulman

We asked to fix the heater in room and the staff said they will come in 10 mins but no one came. For the bathroom shower, it won’t work, had to leave for my flight without taking shower.

It was big enough for my family of 5 Parking in first come first serve but the front desk helped us find parking easily , very friendly staff and helpful

The room was clean and we had enough room. They advertised breakfast and they said they stopped doing that last year. That was one factor why we chose that hotel. So that info needs updated. Even showed pics of breakfast being served.

Excellent place, truly a gem.

The room was clean and spacious. Front desk staff were very friendly and efficient. Free parking was nice obviously but the parking area was clean, well-lit, and on-site which in SF is truly impressive. The garden is tranquil and lovely. Will stay here every time om in the city.

Good Stay, I liked the rooms.

It was great, we had a nice night. The shower knob was different than I am used to, there are instructions on the opposite wall of the knobs though for those of you confused like I was. I loved that they use the soap dispensers instead of disposables. The carpets are a lil smelly, but it was clean if that makes sense. Not complaining but I have a stronger nose than most people. Our stay was great!

Centrally located and affordable

We stayed our last night in SF on 10/14. My experience was great. Large room, clean, shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom. The motel is what you pay for. It's in the city not sure why people expect it to be quiet. Normal sounds from a big city. Didn't bother us we slept just fine. The younger gentleman that assisted me at check in was nice, polite and patient as I had a bit of an issue with room key. I love that check out was at 12 pm gave us time to shower and get ready for the day. Older gentleman at check out was super nice and had a smile on his face the whole time.

Hidden gem

Very nice hotel, the lady at the front desk(sorry didn’t catch her name) was so kind and accommodating for us. The hotel parking was easy and it was nice they had 2 garages, safe neighborhood w/ a cool park nearby. The room was spacious, clean and had a huge fridge! Loved the rooftop and sitting area. Will definitely stay again.

Didn't like the hard bed and poor showers

Rooftop patio wonderful and perfect for fleet week. Great staff very helpful and professional. Will stay here again.

difficult parking

Parking is rough . The parking lots are small & difficult to maneuver a sign @ the front desk says limited parking first come first serve that was not on the hotel description. Clean , neat & tidy room but decor is less than desirable kinda depressing . Service is excellent. Very cute & nice garden area But this hotel is just one step up from a motel 6

Great location, reasonable price. Both Muni and Big Bus stop right outside the front door, making getting around the city very easy. Comfortable walking distance to Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, the world's crookedest street, and the Bay. Good, reasonably priced food is available nearby. John at the front desk was wonderfully helpful, letting us check in early and giving us a quiet room and a discount on Big Bus tickets. Can't quite give it a full 5 stars because the heater needed maintenance (loud and smelly) and a couple of other things didn't work properly. Also, this part of Lombard gets noisy (our room location on the back helped a lot). Would give it 4.5 stars if we could.

Check in was bad, waited 10 minutes before someone was at the front desk. Parking lots were crazy tight and arranged oddly. Other than that, it was a decent hotel.

Hotel was fine; 3rd floor lounge and balcony were too small to accommodate more than 2 people; great value for tourist district given the guaranteed parking. No on-site breakfast but they offer local restaurant breakfast discounts. Would stay again.

Unique hotel with cool garden and rooftop patio. Location was convenient especially for public transportation. Now the newest hotel but would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at the buena vista inn! Everything was clean and easy, and everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful. The area felt safe and was walking distance to Ghiradelli square. We loved having our breakfast in the back garden each morning, what a lovely little hideaway! Overall, the space feels very cared for. We would stay here again for sure.

Disappointed

I’ve been to Buena Vista several times over the years, but this time the room wasn’t so good. First, the shower did not work. The lever was broken. The tissue box in the bathroom was completely empty. The clock in the room was not the correct time. The refrigerator made a very loud, annoying sound all night and we had to unplug it. Also, when we returned to park at the hotel after coming back from dinner, there were no parking spaces available except a very bad one that blocked another car from leaving, so I had to get up early to move it the next morning when someone else had left. It seems they are cutting costs and not paying attention to customer’s needs the way they used to.

Great place to stay. Not too far to walk to Fishermsn's wharf about 20 minutes

Purpose of the stay was to get hip replacement surgery. Hotel staff were accomodating as stay had to be extended due to medical complications. On site parking was key. Only negative was Hotels.com extremely poor customer service following a site glitch. I would book the Buena Vista again just not thru Hotels.com

Excellent service, and a really neat location. Parking was definitely limited though. They had a two level indoor garage, and it was quite tight. We had a midsize car and it worked alright. If you have a larger SUV or truck, you'd want to show up earlier in the evening to get a larger parking slot in the garage .

Every associates we encounter were very friendly and helpful. The property was well maintained and parking was no problem. Housekeeping did good job making the room clean everyday while we were stayed 4 nights. We will go back to stay again for our next trip.

Beware of changes to your reservation

In town for a business function. I reserved a king size bed room and if possible, a back room away from Lombard Street. Surprised to walk into a double queen room. Out of curiosity I went back to ask why and they stated change was because I requested a back room. I asked for the price difference and magically a king room in the back popped up in their system. Place was decent, not bad for a one night stay. Just would appreciate a little bit more professionalism and not assuming changing room types without notice should be acceptable.
