Lovely quaint cottages. Great value for money.
The house was lovely and warm as the heat pumps were on when we arrived. Lots of space to relax. A cosy house to stay in.
Nice cottage but a bit old. Could benefit from an upgrade.
Ray was super helpful and communicated with us well. Especially appreciated the heating, especially the electric mattress heating.
It was so nice to have our own space. Close enough to town for groceries and shopping.
The place provided everything needed for a stay including a washer and dryer. Plenty of room for a family of 7. Well maintained.
Cozy cottage! Easy walk to Te Anau downtown.
Great place! Loved our cozy cottage. Had everything we needed. It was very private, clean and bed was comfortable.
Facility quite dated and the BBQ stove is very dirty.
A clean and comfortable cottage. Close to all facilities. Highly recommended.
Clean & conveniently located
The cottage was just as advertised. Clean, safe, comfortable. I’d definitely stay again.
We stayed in the deluxe cottage and enjoyed the separate bedrooms, the kitchen, the place to do laundry, the deck—everything was perfect for our party of six. I would highly recommend this lovely place.
Perfect location and amenities.
Not for bad backs
Very clean and spacious Unfortunately mattress was old and lacking any support - roll to the middle of the bed bad
Very nice and tidy, just like home but on a smaller scale
Everything what you need is in the house. Clean&tidy. We loved our stay. Thanks.
Clean, convenient, comfortable beds, has everything we need in the unit. Just steps away from shops and lake front.
What a cute little cottage. We loved it. Had everything we needed & the manager was super friendly & helpful. Would definately book my stay again on the next holiday.
Loved the decking and BBQ. Such a lovely place.
The double beds were not very comfortable, but the house was great. Everything that we needed was there and our grandson loved the trampoline
Cute cottage
Cute cottage private with all amenities. Thank you
We travelled with a toddler who loved the trampoline and swing.
Fitted our needs perfectly, happy to return if we are ever in the area again looking for a place to stay.
Comfortable house in a handy spot. Warm, clean and nicely appointed.
Lovely accommodation with wonderful hosts. Stoked up the fire for us and organised our trip to Milford. Comfy beds, warm and cosy. Thanks so much for a great few days
wonderful cute holiday home
Ray was amazing and service was great!
Great staff all working to make their guests happy.
Every thing is ok
Loved everything about this place. Awesome staff, clean, great location, awesome price. Have stayed here before and will do so again
Highly recommend, love staying at this place. Staff are extremely known and helpful and cottages have everything you need
This was a good location for taking a trip over to see the glow worm caves and Doubtful Sound, also driving to Milford Sound.
Great close location to waterfront, nice clean space!
Excellent location,very nice staff,rustic cottage
Very rustic, not what we expected. Expensive for older accommodation needing refurbishment. Strange bathroom layout. While there were laundry facilities, guests were instructed not to use the dryer unless it was pouring rain outside.
Very friendly personal service. Shown to our cottage and given a quick overview of the wifi and facilities.
The manager went out of his way to phone our tour operator and accommodated us in bigger accommodation. Really pleasant to have stayed there.
Great place with nice NZ decor, equipped with everything that we needed.
Lovely facility. Great staff and service. Perfect for our stay with a little kid (it even had a slide and a swing).
Spacious and warm cottage, great facilities including a full laundry and kitchen. Plenty of room, we stayed three nights with a family of five. Lots of room for the kids to play outside, and it came equipped with board games for inside, and some outside games and a trampoline.
Perfect for a couple of nights with enough space and clean and tidy.
When we arrived, the hostess recommended three things - watch the movie about the Fiordlands park in the cinema, dine at the Red Cliff restaurant, and go to Milford Sound even if it is raining. Perfect, she was right on all three. The restaurant is great, the movie is fantastic, and Milford Sound was glorious, especially in the rain.
We were in a house in a quiet neighbourhood. It was delightful and of course, for two of us, we had plenty of room! Only thing missing was the fireplaces of the cabins as it was chilly outside. Dee was great and we had a wonderful stay.
Excellent location, comfortable bed, quiet, very well supplied kitchen with all the pots, dishes and gear to cook including an apron and a barbeque. Also loved the small group Milford Sound tour we did arranged by Birchwood.
Really very good option for Te Anau. The 1-bedroom unit was well equipped and, as a stand alone cottage it was very quiet with no noise from neighbors or the road. Bedroom is at the back of the cottage so it is very quiet. Heat and air conditioning was a plus. Used both during my stay! Staff was warm and very accomodating. I wanted to extend my stay but they were sold out, so I moved to a motel which was not nearly as good. I can strongly recommend Birchwood. I would return here without hesitation.
2 showers one toilet off laundry?? Not great value for money Lacks character On highway but not too noisy
It was very clean, the cottage was nicely set up with the basic kitchen appliances and the staff were very helpful
Great quiet location. Lots of place in the 3 bedroom house we had
During checkin had to wait for Manager to slowly 'finger tap' finish sending an email so I felt a very low priority. Next I got a big 'mansplaining' lecture about how to operate the TV and SKY Channels using the two separate remote controls. I know I may look like just a 'woman' to this man but I am a Doctor. (And so is my husband). Was not the welcome I expected. Finally, hungry labrador looked with pleading eyes through the window everytime we went to eat something! I like dogs but gee, feed her more! Cottage was set up to suit aged care/paraplegic folk, not really necessary for a honeymoon!
Enjoyed the stay and very friendly staff. Nice place to play around in the Garden.
It was amazing
Ideal family stay
Good clean accommodation. For 5. Close to town.
comfortable cosy stay
comfortable pleasant place to stay. The unit had all we needed for a cosy winters night. close to the road but nice native bush as a filter from the road and no noise came through to the bedroom location at the rear of the unit. friendly helpful staff.
Highly recommend, very comfortable clean cottage with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Great stay with view of snow capped mountains
We had a great stay and needed a larger property because we had 3 adults and 2 kids. This was perfect. Lots of room to move around and relax for 3 days. The kids loved the trampoline outside.
Bare bones but spacious accommodation
We were in a stand alone cottage away from the main cabin site and there was road on two sides (including a highway) rather than beeches. It's New Zealand so there were good views from the living room but the proximity to the highway and passing pedestrians meant we needed to close the curtains or feel like we were in a fish bowl. Still, plenty of room and a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and the option of taking a hot bath made this a great place to stop for a couple of nights.
Thoughtful owner and comfy beds
Rey the owner was thoughtful to open all the heater ahead of time. The beds were nice, warm and comfy.
A pleasant stopover on our way to Milford Sound
The cottage is comfortable in accommodation and good in amenities. Towels and linens are clean and kitchen sufficiently equipped. It is also close to the city centre.
Trip to Te Anou
We had a 3 bedroomed cottage. The rooms were a good size and kitchen had all we needed. Given tea and coffee, as well as milk in the fridge.rooms decorations were a little bit tired. Ray and his staff were really helpful and full of knowledge about the area. We went on his trip to Milford Sounds, and this was very good. Would stay again.
Nice but everything seems like it's been there for
Everything was fine it's a basic cabin with everything including air it just seemed expensive for what you get. All that being said it was fine.
Overpriced: very basic considering what you pay.
Poor standards for the price you pay. The sad thing is that I believe this is common in Te Anau: they take advantage of the fact that they are in the middle of the way to Milford Sound coming from Queenstown and prices are very high for the quality and standards they offer.
Comfortable and private cottage
Stayed there 4 nights. The one bedroom cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped, including AC and a BBQ on the porch. Surrounded by lush vegetation and within 5 minutes walking distance to the town center. Quiet despite being located next to the main road. Daily cleaning service included. Good location, close to the Sounda and the hikes in the Fiordland National Park.
Nice single bedroom unit
Great for 2 people. Very good hosts. Third bed if required is a sofa bed which is not nearly as comfortable as the bed in the bedroom.
Trampoline!!
My kids enjoy the trampoline, it’s fun! Highly recommended
Comfortable cottage
We loved this cottage. It was spacious and private. Very nice bathroom and kitchen. Dining table and large couch. It was a fun place to stay and we could watch birds in the backyard. Friendly dog and cat for company.
Comfortable cottage in pleasant gardens and lovely views.
Nice people and good stay
Owner and manager are very nice, give us good trip suggestion, rooms are very comfortable.
Very friendly owner. Arranged our trip to Milford Sound. Small bus very friendly knowledgable driver. Great day out. Also available are trips to Glow worm caves by boat.
The owner was really lovely and helpful. The cottage is dated but all comfort available and clean
Fantastic place to stay in Te Anau
We really enjoyed our stay in our cottage. It was very spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners were great with recommendations and providing help. They also do their own trips into Milford Sound, which we didn't take because we had already pre-booked with someone else, but after staying here and meeting them I would recommend giving it a try.
Great place!! Awesome bus tour to Milford Sound
Be sure to take in the bus tour to Milford sound!! Very enjoyable worth every minute!! Cottage perfect in every way!
Quiet location. Comfortable stay
Real friendly welcome. Owners couldn't help us enough with information re local scene. Could have taken bus rides with them if needed.
A wonderul alternative
Te Anau is the starting place for the fijords of NZ. It is full of motels often crowded with bus loads of tourists. The Birchwood is a great alternative. It has several small cottages much like an old lake cottage. Ours was clean, with a comfortable bed, well-supplied kitchen, loads of tv channels, large bath, and close to town with lovely hosts Including a cat. Though our cabin was near the main road, as promised by 7 pm it was blissfully quiet. The Birchwood isn't the most elegant place but it was a wonderful place to stay before seeing the fijords.
Handy location, clean and spacious accommodation and friendly and helpful staff.
Plenty of room in the larger cottage/house.
We stopped in TeAnua on our way back from Milford Sound. We had the larger cottage, which was more like a house. It was a great size and accommodated our family very comfortably. It seemed to be freshly painted and kitchen updated. A musty smell when we first walked in that seemed to clear out after opening it up and airing it. The kitchen was well equipped, very clean and had all the facilities. It was everything we needed for the one night.
Comfort and charm
Warm welcome and very comfortable Accomodations. Perfect base for our short visit. Would definitely stay here again.
