The hotel is on a dead-end street so very little road noise but a challenge for parking. Plan to walk or use taxis. The front desk attendants were very helpful with any questions. The room was comfortable but small with a large balcony. If you are planning on breakfast at the hotel, it’s not great and an additional cost. The coffee was terrible and food, eh. It would be better to plan to go out and find something else. All in all, not a bad hotel.

This is a hotel in a fantastic location, with easy access to transportation to all of Rome's wonders, in addition to being just a 20 minute walk to Piazza del Popolo. On the doorstep of Villa Borghese, this is a quiet and safe residential area, with cafes and restaurants priced relatively affordably compared to the city centre. The downside to this is the hotel itself - it is weathered, but if you're like me, than you'll find it charming and a step back into the classy 1950's, with marble everywhere and busts of heroes of antiquity on display. Please note - not all rooms have air functioning air conditioning, however this is common throughout Italy. There is WiFi, however, my room found itself inconveniently located between two routers whose signal strength would fluctuate and making it difficult to conduct any video calls. This however I think speaks to the thickness of the walls (a positive) as I did not hear any other guests with my room right beside a lift/elevator, and again, when in Rome your room really is only to sleep so I did not find this a tremendous issue.

We booked for two days. The room was very hot and the ac did not work. We asked them to fix it and it ran for a few minutes then quit. Attempt two same result. We spent the night sweating it out like we were in boot camp. Checked out the next day at 10am and the front desk staff refused a refund for our second night that we did not use. At E350.00 I would say that I should not be held responsible to stay another night on property. Also they charge E12.00 to use the gym. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and this is a first for me.

Avoid this hotel. I booked because in description they said that there is a Shuttle service available from hotel to airport, but there is no such thing provided. when i asked about the shuttle service they simply called a cab for which i still had to pay out of pocket. Also the staff is rude and all they care about is how to make guests pay more money for every tiny amenity that they offer. The breakfast is not included with the price of the hotel when you book and you will end up paying 25 € for two people. the elevator is so small that two people can barely fit in.

BAD HOTEL-STAY AWAY !!

Regret staying at this hotel too. The hotel is located on a small residential street where cabs are not allowed to park or get inside. The cabs will drop you off at the main street and you have to carry your luggage to the hotel. Also, the customer service person kept our passports and asked us to comeback later so he can finish us checking in at night time cause he was busy and did not have time to service us. We were the only customers at night time and when we refused to hand him the passports, he made us wait an hour before he could service us. Also the toilet in the bathroom was so small and placed under the sink that we could not properly sit on it. When I complained, I was told all bathrooms are like that. see the picture posted and you won't believe it. Yes, it is under the sink. I hurt myself few times getting down and up from the toilet seat. I will not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel even if they offer for free. Also there are some small insects that craw on the bathroom floor that you can not see cause the floor is all dark but if you pay close attention, you will see them crawling.

The cups/glasses that were in the room were wiped not washed as everyday my "new" cups and glasses still had remains of my lipstick on them even though they were placed in "new" bags. It makes me question other areas of cleanliness. The breakfast buffet had almost every table covered with dirty dishes. There is no bistro on the premises so if you want to eat you need to go somewhere else. Bus transit was close by. The bed was very comfortable. The view from my bedroom was looking at a building and a bunch of scaffolding which didn't seem to be in use. There was a dog constantly barking/ whinning. Overall I was very disappointed. There is nothing nearby and it appears to be in a residential area in the middle of nowhere. I would not stay here again.

This property is located in a quiet and safe residential area, not very far from the town centre. Probably a 45 min walk, 15 min bus ride. I recommend using the Google Map app and it will totally help you navigate the public transportation and bus timings etc. It made our getting around so much easier! There’s a newspaper stand a block away where you can purchase bus tickets. The hotel is quiet and clean is within walking distance of a few nice restaurants. Breakfast buffet is very reasonable 5$ euro.

Cozy gem in a quiet area with a great breakfast

This hotel was a great value and felt very safe. Cleanliness and friendly service were excellent. International travelers seem to have enjoyed it too. As a retired art professor, I found the beautiful paintings and sculpture especially pleasant. The Parioli neighborhood is elegant and beautiful, but unfortunately the garbage situation is unbearable in Roman streets, even in this upscale zone!

The hotel wasn't close to the city, however was close to nearby public transport. The bus into the city/Vatican was about a 20 min ride. Highly recommend getting the Roma Pass. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was always great. However the rest of their food options for lunch and dinner were average. The laundry service is rather expensive as well, better to head to a nearby laundromat. The internet wasn't the greatest as the connection kept dropping in and out.

The Best Western Rivoli Was Excellent

We found the Rivoli perfect in almost all respects. It has a quiet elegance that BWs don't often have in Canada. The room was perfect, had a sizeable balcony, the bed was very comfortable and room and bathroom were very clean and modernized. Monia at the front desk, although very busy, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and enjoys interacting with everyone. Her English is excellent. The other staff are also very nice and accommodating. Loved the lady that took care of the breakfast area, she made coffees to order, and was very gracious. The breakfasts were excellent by the way with many choices for a breakfast. The only negative is that our booking stated explicitly that breakfast was included which it wasn't, there was a 3 euro charge per person per day. Still not unreasonable for what you got but a booking error needing address and correction. Accommodation tax, which is a standard hotel charge in Italy was, I believe, 3 euros per person per night. Taxi to downtown or back depending on time of day varied 10-15 euros. Taxi to the airport, if ordered from the hotel is flat rated at 58 euros. We left at 4 am and it was a fast 40 kilometres to the airport due to minimal traffic.

The hotel is very comfortable, clean, pleasant and helpful staff. There is also a good breakfast each morning and a small bar for wine or drinks in the evening or espresso. Good Hotel, fair location, courteous staff

Hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from good shopping and roughly 40 mins from Coliseum or other major attractions of downtown. Many local restaurants within walking distance allow you to get good value while avoiding the tourist traps found elsewhere. Rooms are small but clean and hotel is maintained very well. Breakfast is an outstanding spread and was honestly one of our best meals of the week. Tram stops are only 2 blocks away, and by consulting the hotel staff you can easily find your way around the neighbourhood. The "3 Girls" cafe nearby is a cozy little spot to grab a coffee and sandwich for under 5 Euro. (Go out to main road, take a right, then first right gets you there only 2 minute walk from the hotel).

Far walk, nice hotel, bugs

My husband and I stayed here for four nights at the beginning of our honeymoon in europe. The daytime staff were helpful. Our hotel room was nice but on our second day I noticed a mystery bug bite on my leg that over the next few days swelled up fairly badly although I have absolutely no recollection of being bitten/stung. On our last night I noticed red ant like bugs, two in our bed and a few on the floor...I don't know if this is what bit me but I went downstairs (this was in the evening) and attempted to explain the bugs and asked for a change of rooms. The man did not fully understand what I was saying but he did switch rooms without an apology or checking our room. The next morning during checkout the woman working asked about it again but we got no apology or explanation. While I understand things happen outside the hotels control I would have appreciated some concern over the matter. In regards to location - plan to walk or take a cab once in awhile. The walk is doable my husband and I took the walk through a beautiful park nearby but it is tiring especially after a long day of seeing the sights. It is in a great quiet neighborhood! Overall the hotel is average. I'm not sure we would stay there again based on price and location and my one specific negative experience but it was overall a positive experience.

Overall my stay was ok; Hotel service professional and staff members were very helpful. Hotel was pretty much far from city centre. Neighbourhood was very quiet; but there's pretty much nothing "touristy" to do or see around there. Except you're willing to spend at least 10€ for every trip out of the area to the town centre; or perhaps take their public transport. Me and the SO stayed for 3 nights; therefore we wanted quick and straightforward access to town centre without any hassles.

Not so pleasant!!!

The hotel is very far from the airport, like a 45 to 50 minute drive. The taxi cost is approx 50€ each way. The hotel staff tries to get you too book the taxi so they can get a commission and the cost is more. The rooms are on the small side, typical Europe rooms. The air conditioning is controlled by the hotel so if youre there during fall or winter months, you willl have no qir conditioning just because it may be cold outside and the room is very stuffy. There is nothing around the hotel to see or eat. So if you wish to not be stuck with high taxi bills and bad customer service, stay away from this hotel.

Rivoli for roamin'

Above every other comment here please know that the complementary breakfast is the absolute best at Hotel Rivioli with fresh baked pastry and cakes, eggs, pancetta, fruit, and enough to make a lunch or late night meal to keep in your 'frig! It is an elegant facility that reflects the opulence of travel of a by-gone era which is somewhat obscured due to what must be insurance concerns from the Best Western take-over. Apparently the all-marble interiors which have been covered with carpeting and wall fabric, although tastefully done, must've eliminated slippery issues. The bathroom probably had a tub which must have been replaced with a lovely modern curved shower that unfortunately leaks - ironically creating very slippery marble in the one place it remains. The location is a bit removed from the main sights but is a couple of blocks from the Bourghese Gardens which was reviving in a city that is mostly cobblestone. Final note, the hotel works with a car service that (for less than $60 for both of us) got us to Fiucimo in under an hour and avoided getting our (now stuffed) carry-ons and back-packs onto the bus and train for the same amount. Thank you Hotel Rivoli!

Very plesent

Overall this is a very pleasant hotel situated in a very quiet area. If you know how to use Google maps you can find your way from here to Any of the main tourist attractions in Rome number 52 bus stops outside the hotel and connect s to all routes u will need. Bar is very basic only does two cocktails and five Euros for a bottle of beer eight Euros for a gin and tonic. Only very basic bar food available no full restaurant but grand for a quick snack sambo or small . Hotel is spotless well maintained has a nice seating area outside with relaxing seats if you wish to just chill out. Staff are very pleasant and most speak enough English to help you with any questions. Fantastic fish and pasta restaurant around the corner for a special treat. Rooms are quite small but fully equipped with T-bar sunken bath balcony and large bed. Breakfast is served till 11 o'clock which means you can have a lie in if you wish standard breakfast very pleasant.

Not a good four star

Rotting smell from (unplugged) fridge. Rather poor bathroom state. Front desk said they'd look at fridge and never did. Bar was rather sad. Decor outdated and not well kept.

Quiet and Relaxing

I booked this hotel mainly for the reasonable price, and it priced this way because it is off the beat and path of the Rome tourist attractions. It not fancy in terms of room service and hotel services, but it is clean and charming. The room is basic, but it has everything you need if you are looking for a place to lay your head at night and is very comfortable a bit small, but I would assume most rooms in Rome aren't much bigger. This hotel does not dissappoint or suprise it as advertised a beautiful little gem of hotel with no extras.

Difficult to find

We only stayed one night at end of vacation, but it was very difficult to find. It may have a street address, but it is really an alley. We arrived Terminii train station and followed hotel directions to take bus 192. We asked bus driver where we should get off and he had no idea where hotel was. A passenger tried to help. We were near the hotel so got off bus and got directions from other people but walked around 30 min with luggage before we found it. If you decide to stay here spend the E15 for a taxi! Our room was attractive, bathroom large but black marble made it too dark. Had large bathtub with shower hose, but no shower curtain or door. It was difficult taking shower without soaking the bathroom. Had to leave early to catch flight so can't comment on breakfast. Hotel construction didn't bother us as just there 1 night. Construction actually helped us find it as I had seen comments posted about it.

Good Hotel, very comfortable, just a bit too far out of Rome. It is in a local neighbourhood, with not a lot to do nearby. About a 20 minute walk to nearest Rome attractions and underground.

Hotel building site

Not good to arrive and find scaffolding around 2/3 of hotel and our balcony and window not accessible or useable - we had to find this out for ourselves. The bedroom was claustrophobic and noisy. Our request to be moved to another room was refused on arrival but we were moved the following morning. Breakfast food was limited - poor choice of cereals for healthy eaters and very thin, greasy bacon. Hotel location is a bit far from most tourist areas but bus stop quite close. Local train about 400 metres with one stop to kink into metro.

Look elsewhere

This hotel has its priorities mixed up. The entrance, lobby and hallways are marble and look all nice. Staff are friendly and understand English. The mix up is that they have spent their money on all this stuff but not the rooms. The room we stayed in was old with a slight smell in the air when we first entered. The decor is outdated but we didn't mind that. The bathrooms hot water was erratic and we couldn't even hang the shower head anywhere. You cannot sleep in as from 8.30am to 4.30pm there is construction work on the outside of the building. Sleeping on the floor would have been better for our backs but we don't trust how dirty the floor is. Even my wife bought slippers to not touch the floor. The wifi on the first floor had a terrible signal. The upside was that the staff were really friendly and assisted us in many matters (early breakfast, tours.)

It was the second stay in this hotel after our two days away to Napoli. Great feeling of coming home when we got back. Retrieved our bags, run a hot bath and get a good night sleep. Next morning had a nice breakfast, checkout and taxi arrived in 2 minutes. Great service and also nice yalks with reception staff. We will be happy to stay again when we come again to Rome.

Worst hotel we have ever stayed in!

When you walk in to the hotel it looks like it was last redecorated during the end of the Roman Empire, it looks tatty and cheap. The lift was tiny and you could only get one suitcase in at a time but nothing could prepare you for the room. Although the room was clean enough it was very aged, with fabric on the walls it looked dated. There was dust on the lamps and walls as well, it just looked tired. There was the bonus of a balcony but because the hotel was being renovated, all you could hear was drilling. The thing that made the room unbearable was the bathroom, it just looked dirty. The shower head holder was broken and you couldn't really get a decent shower as a result. The bath looked like it had not been cleaned since their last visitors. You couldn't believe that this was a four star hotel. The bed was two singles joined together and it was was not to the standard you'd expect in the UK. When we went for breakfast in the morning the buffet layout was very disappointing but it wasn't just us that thought this, everyone who came down to breakfast seemed to have the same reaction. During our stay it was uncanny, every day you could see who the newcomers were, they would take a look and you could see that they weren't sure it wasn't a joke. Scrambled eggs looked gross, with undercooked bacon, and to top it off at one point they were offering green beans for breakfast, which not only looked overlooked but was soggy and unappetising. Not a single offer for coffee.

Not suitable, if you are a tourist

This hotel is not accessible through any public transport, esp by train. We stayed here during summer and got baked in reaching the nearest metro station. The room is standard for this class of hotel. As a tourist, it is better to stay in a location closer to the station.

Good hotel with friendly staff but small rooms

Hotel is a little bit out of the way but it was only 15mins by bus to/from Termini station and 10 mins to Barberini Piazza so it wasn't a problem. We were originally given a very small room and the air conditioning didn't work well and on complaining they showed us a number of rooms in the lower floor which were much larger and had been aircon. Did get the feeling, however, that most of the rooms on the upper floors were the same size as our first room which was very small. They did a very good selection buffet breakfast. They only served very basic evening meals and wouldn't deviate from it so you'd have to travel into the centre as there are no restaurants near the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly which was what made our stay enjoyable despite the bad start.

Keep your expectations low

Stayed there for 4 nights in Jul 2013 practically no air cobditiobing, very poor internet. Cannot buy public tranportation tickrts at or near the hotel sas there are no machines to buy tickets from. A tobacco shop sells it but is never open. Restaurants around the hotel are expensive and serve bad quality food, so much for italisn cooking. Do not, repeat DO NOT expect Canadian standard of living and life style. Be ready to hop in a cab when you wanna get back to you hotel in a jiffy. Hotel reception staff make minimum effort to explain transit system. Discover it on your own or keep asking repeatedly till you get it. In a nut shell expensive town with low standards.

Great staff, easy location

Everything was great with the hotel except the was no parking and the parts of the hotel was being refurbished. The location was ok. We had to get on the local bus which we waited for about 40 min.(only downfall) from there we got on the train and we were able to get anywhere. If your looking for the Hard Rock it is on the same bus route. The parking garage we used was a 3 min walk just two streets over.

Not too shabby!

The shower made no sense what so ever. It was really hot or cold and there was no shower curtain. We basically had a waterfall in the bathroom. Other than that, it is close to a bus stop, a little ways out of town so you avoid the crazy traffic. Kind of a pain to get to if you ride the bus, sometimes the buses took forever. Parking was pretty ridiculous near the hOverall not a bad place!

''Escape the hustle and bustle''

The hotel is situated in a largely residential area of Rome, so be prepared for a walk into the city! Finding the shortcuts, using public transport or driving is a must! However, it was nice to escape the hustle and bustle at the end of the day. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the reception staff. The exterior of the hotel was covered in scaffolding but the interior was very well presented. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little over heated! All in all, a very pleasant hotel amid a city renowned for chaos and noise.

A little bit far from public transport unless you get to know the busses, in which case there is a bus stop very close by. Very tastefully decorated inside, nice rooms, nice staff. A good hotel if you're not daunted by having to find your way around and the staff are very helpful. Nice breakfast.

Sufficient for our needs

Hotel Rivoli is situated on a very small (read: smaller than average) side street near the Boghese Gardens in Rome. It is well maintained, with outside spaces, and lovely little balconies. We were in town for a funeral, and this suited our needs perfectly. A few blocks walk to the tram to take you to Vatican City, and the area seemed very nice, clean and safe. The room was fine--we chose a triple, with a king bed and a roll-away. The bed was very hard, and left both hubby and I with sore backs, but that could also be attributed to jetlag. Our room was on the 5th floor, so the lift only takes you to 4 and then a flight of stairs. There is Wi-Fi service free--however it does time out after 30min and was a bit of a pain to connect to with my iPhone. My husband had no problems however, excepting the time out issues. The bathroom was clean, albeit small. The shower ran hot and cold, there was no happy medium, I was either shivering or scalded. Only shower gel was provided, no shampoo or conditioner. All that said, we would probably stay here again as the price was perfect for us on our budget, it was clean, the staff was polite and breakfast (a full breakfast) was included.

Excellent knowledgeable staff with great English!

I have stayed at many hotels in Rome and this was the best, with amazing value for the money. The front desk staff were more than helpful and spoke wonderful english. They provided me with maps, bus routes, and directions with time estimates to all the major destinations. The kitchen and breakfast staff were also incredible and even provided me with some treats one evening when i had a sweet tooth - free of charge! Excellent hotel and I will definitely make this my go-to for when I'm in Rome again.

We enjoyed our stay the previous time and enjoyed it just as much this time. The staff are very polite and helpful and always ready with a smile. The room we had was clean and had every thing we needed or requested. Breakfast is more than adequate. It lasted us until the evening meal.
