The room was clean & tidy very quiet, staff were good, property needed a tidy up. But it suited us & we would stay there again.

Neat and tidy motel with nice staff. Nothing fancy but Oamaru is well worth visiting.

Disappointed

We have been on holiday 3 weeks and have stayed in a couple of Bella Vista motels so we were disappointed with a few things. Could not pay at property. Paid over the phone, no choice to use EFT-POS and charged $5 to pay on credit card. Room was very small-had to put bags in bathroom. Needs some Exit Mould on silicone seals in shower. Charges $30 per hour for early or late check in. No cooking facilities- this is a motel not a hotel.

Centre of town to restaurants,coffee shops, and to a few long walks to the old town and hilltops with great views. The property had most requirements for me, except the news channels on TV, as in bbc world news and the fox and cnn channels, and free movie channels.

Pleasant enough

Only stayed one night and we had everything we needed. Pleasant enough room.

The room too small,it’s hard for two people cross to each other….not recommended

Nice well appointed studio for short stay

Welcome Staff was excellent (Nancy was lovely)!! It was the perfect place for a ‘home’ base while we explored the area.

We've stayed at a few Bella Vista's this was very pricey for a tiny room. Needs money spent on dates rooms for the price.

Nothing great, nothing terrible. Just blah. Would look for another place when visiting Oamaru again.

This was the most expensive of the acccomodations we booked, and the worst. So we will not be using any of their motels

Friendly staff and the room was perfectly set.

Great place to take a break whilst on a long drive thru the South. Conveniently located next to MacDonalds. Great for our kids and dog. The proprietor has a very friendly son.

Recommend to stay

Clean and spacious sized room. Easy to find. As it's not the middle of the town, you need to walk a bit to access the town. Generally good place to stay as it's quite. The host also very friendly.

Clean tidy friendly check in

Location was good ...not too far from anywhere

Property is conveniently locate with 10 minutes to centre of town and Countdown supermarket. Down side is that the kitchen is very poorly lit around cooking area and everything is stored underbenchwhich for an olde r person is difficult to see or get down to rummage through. Motel is quite date and could do with a refresh. Bed is comfortable and area is very quiet although located on main street

Very small rooms for the price

It’s an easy and convenient place to stay in Oamaru

Very accessible to a variety of food outlets. Also very easy to drive in and out of the complex. Plenty of car parking space

Dissapointing

Room was a lot smaller than the photo I booked from. This had table chairs and a kitchen. THINGS NEED FIXING. Tap in bathroom that floppy it’s almost falling off. Notice says turn extractor fan on prior to shower. Three switches in ablution area none make the fan operate. All in all disappointing , a pity as I have booked teams into Bella Vista at Kaikoura & Westport with good feed back.

The room was clean and well appointed. The motel is close to town and a short walk to the cbd.

The property was ok. However, when we checked in they were trying to charge me extra for my 4 year old daughter. According to them she should have been charged for an adult rate. After I showed the receptionist the Expedia booking confirmation with all the T&Cs they didn’t asked me for any additional fee.

Late check-in no hassle

Booked late and hosts were very accommodating. Rang me and said they would keep reception open until I arrived. Room was all ready and warm.

Close proximity to the old part of town and the penguins

When we checked in I was told we were given an upgraded room. It was room 1 ground floor right next to McDonald drive thru. And it's open 24 hours. Bathroom smelled like sewer gas. Between the smell and exhaust frkm cars it was horrible.

1) Room was small and gloomy, under a staircase, VERY UNLIKE other Bella Vistas. Badly done paint touch up in small bathroom. 2) No sink in kitchen area - just a plastic collapsible bowl as in a Third World country! 3) VERY POOR WIFI, we need it for both work and leisure, so will not stay again. NOTE:staff and cleaning both excellent.

Loved studio 8. This will be our room of choice when visiting Alex on the future. Great people, great place. Thanks

Clean and modern room, good location close to town

The property was clean and quiet and met our needs for the weekend

Front desk staff was unfriendly and not available. We had to ring the bell to get someone at the front desk. When the staff showed up, she appeared to be annoyed by our presence. Our room was extremely small.

Room is Quiet, clean, close to town suits us perfectly

Location - close to my family. The staff were very helpful and took my luggage upstairs for me.

Excellent service. Minimal cooking facilities - sm fridge, microwave. Had to use bathroom sink water for coffee, washing dishes, etc. Did offer housekeeping would was the dishes, though.

The owner couple are very nice and helpful. Showed us the way to supermarket and give us very good advice about what to see in Oamaru. Highly recommend!

Very efficient check in, friendly and helpful manager. Room facilities very good. Could benefit from additional sound insulation between rooms but overall good value for money.

Overall good

This was the smallest room for my entire 12-night trip to NZ. The room ventilation was a bit of a problem - the bathroom had the only window of the entire room - a sign was there to remind customers to the ventilation had to be turned on to ensure steams went away after shower. So by closing the bathroom door, you were sleeping in a room without window. Room cleanliness was fine. Convenient location, nearer to the town centre than I had expected - perhaps that explains the small room size.

Oamaru

Pleasant stay. Room was small but had everything we needed. Handy to main town shops and Opera House a 5min walk away. Plenty of eat out options close by with in walking distance.

Suited our purposes as a bed for the night. Bed well worn and room musty but aired out well.

Very friendly staff and a simple, clean facility made for a very nice stay. They make sure you have fresh milk and ample tea/coffee, and the bed was fine. Not a great option if you're looking for spacious accommodations or require WIFI - the room was very small, and the internet is extremely slow.

Booking was mucked up. Ended laying for two nights and only staying one. Price was a lot more than its worth.

Nice motel, close to shops and cafés

Motel close to town, comfortable to stay in , was able to walk into town and have a look around.

The room I was in is compact but perfect for the single traveler. (they have larger rooms) The whole facility is like new. It was very clean and had everything I needed. I would book here again with no hesitation.

Great location, close to lots of food places

Quite a cramped room with basic facilities. A little bit of traffic noise from main road but a good location right on the edge of shopping district. Right next door to McDonalds and a nice Thai restaurant. Across the road from two Liquor stores.

Comfortable and warm

All amenities were fine but the room was very small. Nowhere to have a suitcase accessible. Travelling required bags coats etc but these had to be quickly put in a cupboard to make room to move around. Only a microwave for cooking. It was all just too cramped. We won't stay here again Older motels that we have stayed with in the last week are far more spacious for the same tariff.

Room too small

I have now booked Belle Vista on 4 occasions in different places over the last 12 months or so & each time have been allocated the smallest room under the stairs. Certainly not enough room for 2 of us. It would appear that is the standard Expedia room and in the future will avoid Belle Vista

Small but had everything we needed.

This place was as they said exceptionally clean and everything we needed just a little bit small but we were not disappointed The host gave us excellent advice where to eat and we were lucky enough to be able to walk to a jazz and blues festival that weekend. It couldn’t of been Timed more perfectly.

Very small rooms not comfortable.

Very small rooms, not very comfortable. Internals need updating. No dining or hat breakfasts. Position in town is good and the motel is in easy walking distance of the town centre.

Have stayed in other Bella vistas and found all rate rather well will stay again

The room was so small there was not enough space for one suitcase.

Dependable Chain Motel

Friendly, helpful host; decent, clean, but very small room. There was a fridge, a toaster, a microwave and a teapot, so we did all right.

Convenient location

The hotel is located a half hour drive from Moeraki Boulders. The rooms are clean but small, as is typical for Bella Vista hotels. There are several restaurants close to the hotel.

my error

I booked a room on line and booked the wrong date, so when I went to check in there was no reservation for my wife and I. The motetior checked and found I had booked for the following week. With a very helpful motelior found a room for us and all was great. Many thanks to a very enjoyable stay

Smaller in size but close to take away food establishments & town. Walk to penguins 1 1/2 hours return.

an amazing town , a visit to steampunk, well worth it, and historic original township, well worth a look.
