The service was amazing, the price was kinda crazy 8 dollar per coke but whatever. Great location, the bathroom was pretty small but bedrooom is more than enough place
.
Nice services
I have stayed in many hotels and a comfortable bed after a long day is very important to me. The bed at Beacon Grand was the second best sleep l have had next to Westin in San Diego. Property is clean, centrally located to all activities and public transportation. I would highly recommend hotel to anyone staying in Union Square.
Definitely a big change. I love when a property listens to the reviews and alters it ways. I stued hereless than 6 months ago and it was awful. The staff was so unfriendly and racist. However, the new manager that checked me in was very friendly and explained everything and pointed out all the hotel amenities. The staff this time was super friendly and i felt accepted. As a person of color, this is important. The hotel is very walkable and in the center of union square. Beautiful property and lovely rooms. Toilet had weak pressure.
Stayed here on a business trip, area is very safe and clean with lots of restaurants around. The breakfast here is excellent but quite pricey. Quite a decent gym here too. Rooms come with a steamer which was nice especially for work related trips
Lovely service, nice rooms in a central location!
Staff is very nice, very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay overall. There was a crack in our ceiling that should probably be looked at. My only complaint is that when we reserved the room we specially requested a high floor for views. When we reached out to the hotel to ask about an amenity. We were told that we had been booked into a lower floor and that we should ask for an upgrade when we arrived. Thankfully staff were able to assist with that.
Beautiful but cramped
Room was nice, yet it was small. It was hard to move between the bed and the dresser. There was no stand to put your luggage, and the staff disappeared after 10pm.
Delightful Stay!
very very beautiful property. Bar staff and Starlught Lounge staff are absolutely amazing. Front desk staff are outstandingly friendly and helpful. Will for sure stay again.
Favorite hotel. Beacon is awesome.
Will stay here again Bathroom tiny Room tight
This was a wonderful property!
Live a little
Please don’t stay here if you’re going to call security at 10 pm on a Saturday night on the couple next door to you having just a little too much fun. I’m sorry you’re not having fun. Stay at the Marriott across the street if you’re that kind of traveler to a major metropolitan city in the year of our lord 2025. It’s not 1959, and this isn’t Topeka. Do stay here if you want a central location in the city, amazing staff, old school service and vibes, and one of the best top floor cocktail lounges around, bar none. The DJ up at the Starlight Lounge spins vintage soul on vinyl bro. Get the P0rn Star Martini and watch the sunset over Nob Hill. Or go to The Tap Room directly across the street for a more low key date night USA: there you can play pinball, pool, watch sports, eat nachos, and drink good beer on tap. Just whatever you do, don’t go to this hotel and call security on your neighbors as 10 pm for having more fun than you. Get out there. Try to live a little. You won’t regret it, we promise.
It was in the center of everything and everyone was very friendly.

Stunning classical hotel in the heart of stunning San Francisco
Great Staycation
We had a fun couples staycation last minute. We got a nice upgrade that overlooked the cable cars going up Powell. The room was spacious, clean and in great condition. We ordered ice and it was brought up immediately. We didn't have a phone charger so they provided one for us. The Post Room drinks and service were fantastic. They had live music and the ambience was great. We would definately stay here again.
Just the perfect location. Despite the age of the premise so well maintained and upgraded. Bar scene (and tender) were great. So comfortable and cozy
Very nice
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable! Would definitely stay again.
Great hotel! Loved how it’s very convenient to many food options around and located in a great spot to walk around and explore
Great service
Good hotel
Very good and semi dated
Very friendly staff
Love the location, the price, and the convenience. The staffs are very courteous and helpful. This hotel mails your postcard free of charge if you use their mail-chute; I am still waiting to see if the postcard arrives. The room is spacious and nicely renovated with elegance. My desk lamp was broken but the staff took care of it with speed.
Quiet, centrally located and safe. Room was small. WiFi was slow and water pressure in the shower was poor.
Love a hotel that is design forward. Beautiful common spaces. Well appointed rooms. Rooms are smaller but as expected in an urban city. Very clean and convenient for business travel. Took advantage of the free postcards to send a few to friends and family. Nice touch.
Good location, dirty room and avarege service
2 adults 2 Kids, 1 King bed only and a terrible, dirty, hard mattess sofa bed. Even the sheets and blankets were diferent and worst from the bed. Didnt have extra roll away bed or suites with 2 queen beds. 6$ ROOM DELIVERY FEE, for a SODA CAN.

Very central and good area
Perfect location for walking to nearby Chinatown and North Beach areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and updated. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.
Room super small. Decor was bad also, like no sense at all what the style was. Bathroom was uncomfortable there was no place to put personal belongings shelves were super narrow everything fell.
Amazing service, incredibly clean, and overall a beautiful hotel.
I’m not a frequent traveler but I know a great hotel when I stay in one. I had a comfortable room, a view kind of, a clean desk to write at, quiet and efficient service. Will stay again and recommend.
Overall a great experience. Centrally located in the city, easy access to multiple major sites, very helpful staff and service, and clean and functional rooms. My room had a great view of the bay and Union Square. Would stay again
Allergy to animal dander
Had a lovely room on the 17th floor with a city view. I wasn’t aware that the hotel became pet friendly. I was awakened by a barking dog that was coming from next door. It’s unfortunate but will not be staying here again as I am allergic to pet dander. It’s no wonder I had to take my allergy meds during my stay.
Lovely hotel. However the bathrooms could use a redesign. Could not understand the hole in the shower glass that allowed water on the floor but made it hard to turn on the shower. Walk in shower would make more sense and convenience to the guest.
Hotel was perfect, staff was amazing! Parking was expensive but valet staff was very friendly.
Wonderful stay!!
Definitely my new go-to when I’m staying in SF!
The Beacon Grand is an unbelievably charming hotel. From the grand lobby and dining area, all the way to the adorable letter chute (which made it so easy to send postcards as they’re available on every floor I believe!). The rooms are extremely clean and also just gorgeous. The beds are soooo comfortable. It was honestly hard to leave the hotel every day hahahaha. The food is also delicious, and service is fast. The staff—Stuart from guest services, in particular—were always very helpful and accommodating. I am in love with this hotel and I cannot wait to stay here again when I’m next in town!!!
Character
The building was beautiful, and very clean. The Doorman was very rude.
This is our second time staying We stayed for Christmas with our kids Our son was having a hard time (he’s disabled) and I know they didn’t know what was going on so they checked in on us But helped us get to our room quickly so we could calm down and relax. The whole hotel was so beautifully decorated for the holiday. My husband and I came back alone to celebrate our Anniversary and had the best time. So nice and romantic
Loved it!
Fabulous Old World Style Hotel!! The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Food was excellent and I had quite a few meals at the Hotel. I loved the Room Service Staff.. they were friendly and professional every time. I am planning another stay and it is likely I will again choose the Beacon Grand
Beautiful stay! Will stay here again.
Great experience.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so nice and accommodating. Great location to shopping and restaurants.
The property is an older building that has been nicely designed and upgraded. It has a speakeasy vibe which is warm and cozy. It was easy to get to several destinations such as The Ferry Building and there are swveral easy modes of transportation such as the trolley, ride shares and even driverless options. I stayed on an upper floor which was very quiet and i did not hear a lot of street noise. The room.was clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. I slept like a baby! My favorite part of the hotel is The Post Room, which is the bar and restaurant. The staff is absolutely lovely and attentive. The food was delicious but the cocktails were extraordinary! Highly recommend at least having a drink there even if you plan to dine elsewhere.
5 out of 5
We love this hotel! The staff is always so kind! The hotel is in a great location and Starlite the rooftop bar at the hotel is fantastic!
Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in SF
Beacon Grand
Thank you Veronica for helping me with a smooth checkin. William was very attentive to my needs during lunch at the restaurant. Angelo was instrumental in helping us with our packages and valet as we arrived. I would definitely stay again at the hotel
Beautiful property, the staff top notch. Perfect location. Everything was amazing. Will definitely book again.
Unfortunately, we were there during the Hotel strikes. The noise was heard from 7am to late in the evening.
Smaller rooms but convenient location and great bar downstairs
A wonderful hotel that I will visit again and again! Helpful and attentive staff! My room was fresh and comfortable.
Historian & classy. Nice hotel.
Right in front of the Trolley! Great location and the rooftop bar makes for a fantastic way to end the night!
Nice hotel. Yes, its cozy, but most of the time we were out in the city. Soft bed. Nice in-house food options.
Love the old architecture of this hotel.
Overall, a very good hotel.
The hotel lobby & property were stunning; elegant & quiet with a unique Gatsby charm. Housekeeping was splendid & did an exceptional job at refreshing our room while we were out for the day much to our delight. Unfortunately, the room itself was a bit disappointing. The bathroom was terribly inconvenient & quite tiny. We did not opt for a luxury suite however I would have hoped for more spacious quarters; at minimum enough space to be able to comfortably navigate the room in its entirety. Overall an averagely pleasant experience for those planning to use the hotel primarily as sleeping quarters otherwise I suggest upgrading.
Good staff and nice old school historic hotel. Glad to see it is back and Starlite on top floor is great!

Too small rooms
Everything was great! Clean room, great location and staff were wonderful.
Wonderful hotel! Welcoming staff, from the time you walk through the door, they make you feel at home!
Great stay. Minor mishaps
Overall a great stay close to Union Square. They were very busy during the holiday so I think a few cleanliness things got missed. Our floors looked like they hadn’t been swept/vaccumed/mopped. Found a random wrapper as well. Other than that the staff was really friendly.
Great service. Tight space in rooms.
An absolutely gorgeous historic hotel! The central location was perfect for our visit. Cable car pickup just steps from the lobby. The staff was so kind, professional and helpful at every interaction. Elevators were very accessible. The rooms were spacious, elegant and spotless. Lots of excellent food selections within just a few blocks. We plan to return annually. Simply superb accommodations!
Beacon Grand Weekend Getaway
Fabulous hotel with old world charm. Beacon grand hotel employees are so great, helpful and knowledgeable.
The property is old and needs lots of updating besides a fresh coat of paint. I also don’t appreciate that I was charged additional fees in addition to what I paid on Expedia when all fees were included.
It was okay, just okay
we ask to extend our time for an hour for a run and when we came back from the run our keys didn’t work. so we spoke to the front desk. she was very nice. so it was ok
Beautifully restored historic property with the perfect balance of charm and modern comfort. The staff was completely flawless. I would come back here over and over.
Won’t be back
Room was too small, and better suited for one person, not two. Bathroom was tiny! It was in need of more renovation. Walls were thin. We could easily hear conversations next door. On plus side, mattress was comfortable and employees were helpful and friendly.
Absolutely loved this hotel! We will definitely be staying here again! It’s beautiful and the vintage decor and esthetics give it character!! Very romantic and the skylight bar is very chic with a great view!
High quality hotel with fun bar in the lobby as well as swanky lounge on the top floor. Rooms were very clean as well.
Just the best hotel!
Friendly staff, beautiful bars. Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve experienced in ages.
Great central hotel with access to the cable car. Amazing bar!
To stay self is all right I find it atrocious to pay so much to basically stay in a small tiny bedroom. They also did not let us know ahead of time that there would be a strike on going from 7 AM to 10 PM daily and that was super inconvenient and I don’t feel like they comped us enough for the lack of sleep.
Hotel was great, close to a lot of things walking distance.
Convenient location. Beautiful lobby with interesting architecture. Nice roof top bar. Great cocktails. Friendly staff. Small rooms with no closet or drawers. Resort fee will be added of $36 per room per night for WiFi and gym. Online states they have a pool and jacuzzi, they do not. Please note that tip/service is included at their restaurant and bar. Valet parking is expensive at $85 per night. Rooms will only be cleaned when requested. Overal was a nice stay.
Loved the room design & details
Pleasantly disappointed.
The place was beautiful, and the location was excellent. However, the service was disappointing—definitely one star. From check-in to dining to check-out, the staff was consistently rude. Would it be too much to ask for a smile and a simple “thank you”? We were excited to try this place, especially after a poor experience at the Westin down the road, but this was no improvement. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
I like the location. Wish we had a view of Union square etc. I like the older hotels and the history behind it.
Great location
Great Location - Great Staff
Great location and friendly, helpful staff. We had a great stay in San Francisco and will stay here again on future visits.
Great location, beautiful articheture, very nice room, loved the lobby bar, received early check in and late check out at no xtra charge, and the front desk folks were extremely nice and helpful.
We will be back!
You can't beat this location a block up from Union Square and several blocks from China Town. Right on the Trolley line adds to the charm of this gracious and impeccably restored historic hotel. Lots of restaurants around and felt safe. The beds were super comfortable and our room was quiet. The Starlight Bar on the top floor is amazing!
Beacon Grand is a great property. The restaurant is also very good.
Staff are not professional. The doorman is particularly uninterested in offering any help whatsoever.
Vintage feel
The staff were amazing! From the doorman to the wait and bar staff. Top tier care and customer service. This will be my go to stay every time I visit San Fran!!
Great location and great value for it. Rooms small but so are all the hotels in SF.
The Beacon Grand in Union Square, San Francisco, is a gem of a hotel. Its historic charm blends seamlessly with modern touches, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped for a relaxing stay. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel cared for, adding to the overall exceptional experience. Mediocre hotel location but friendly helpful staff
