It was okay
the girl at the front was nice but they didn’t offer towels for the beach or any basic toiletries in the rooms like shampoo or body washes. Only one towel per room and we were told that we’re required to use the same showering towel as a pool towel and beach towel. Fees for late check out and per person. The only open Food places in the morning were about 7-10 minutes walking distance. Property was clean but the rooms are very basic and considered to be a 2.5 star hotel. Restrooms had an odd smell. Hospitality could be improved to be more welcoming and provide the basics for people without so many fees or limitations… and maybe post a disclaimer about not having a bar or food onsite.
Very clean and friendly
Facility and Location are great. Staff was not attentive and the room needs to be cleaner and updated.
Friendly staff, quiet area. Had a hard time figuring out how the shower actually worked… and the beach is good if you’re a surfer, otherwise you won’t like it at all. I just wanted to be near Manuel Antonio (which was like an hour and a half away) so it was good.
Nothing good to say Overpriced, outdated, unsafe
Son muy amables
The Motel was right on the beach with a great restaurant next door. Our room was large with good lighting. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
This is a hidden gem. Very good price for what you get

Meh ... while the grounds were well kept, this property has seen better days. It was an ok place to lay your head down at night. Being on the beach was the biggest plus. Other than that, not much to say -- no restaurant, front desk was deserted often (poor guy who came in at 9PM couldn't find anyone to get checked-in), no bath towels in the room, etc. Alhtough inexpensive, we'll probably find a different place to stay if we return to Jaco in the future.
Luis Diego with security was effusively polite and professional during our late check in. Don Leo ( the daytime guard ) was also very humble and kind. A great stay!
The ocean and pools were needed as it’s very warm here. It’s a great location, right on the beach!
I loved that you walk right out onto the beach. Very quiet area, 3 pools. Although there is no restaurant or bat, Le Point restaurant is across from the hotel and had the best drinks and food for great prices. Ill be back for sure.
Beautiful property just wish they had a bar
Not staying again.
Internet barely working. Everything is very old. The only good thing is the beach and cold A/C.
Excellent location right on the beach, and SUCH a cute property! Very clean, and the staff was super-friendly -- especially Nina, who helped us with everything. Only downside is NO food or drink on the property, not even a mini mart to buy water bottles or snacks. Such a shame! Also a shame that the swim up pool bar and outdoor cafe seem to be permanently closed. If those were open, this would be the PERFECT stay!
Nice property, an easy walk to town and local restaurants/ shops. Many cheap restaurants with authentic food too. Our room didn’t have a fridge, to be fair we should have properly read through the descriptions but fridges in hotels are standard where we’re from so we never really considered it wouldn’t be there. The AC took a bit to cool down but once it was cold it stayed cold. They were doing maintenance/ upkeep while we visited. Landscapers were out putting down sod, planting flowers etc, sprinklers were on. They were also painting some areas and had some new pool furniture being set up while we were there. Clearly they are maintaining the property and overall it looked good. We’d be interested to come back in a few years to see how it all looks and all the updates they completed. There was a sign in the room about how housekeeping only came every second day, which we were fine with; however, we were there for 4 days and they didn’t come once.
Necesitan mejorar el servicio y ofrecer facilidades para alimentación. Tienen muchas prohibiciones y tienen el espacio en el hotel para ofrecer venta de bebidas o alimentos preparados . Y permitir cocinar algo pequeño en las habitaciones
Someone took my clothes and they didn't give them back.
A Nightmare Experience with Expedia and Hotels.com
I recently had the misfortune of booking two hotels through Expedia and Hotels.com for a family trip, and the experience was nothing short of a nightmare. Despite booking two rooms for four people, they claimed to have only one room available. Although I was traveling with my sister and her child, the situation was far from ideal. The next day, despite handing in passports for both rooms, I discovered that the second room for my sister had never been checked in. Contacting Expedia for assistance proved futile, as they washed their hands of the matter, leaving me wondering what exactly they do for their significant cut of room fees. The lack of support and resolution from Expedia and Hotels.com has left me deeply dissatisfied and questioning their commitment to consumer protection, especially when it comes to international travel. In summary, my experience with Expedia and Hotels.com was marred by safety concerns, booking errors, and an utter lack of support when seeking refunds. I strongly caution fellow travelers to think twice before entrusting their accommodation arrangements to these platforms, as my ordeal raises serious doubts about their commitment to customer satisfaction and safety.
Didn’t stay at property, after diving by and see the property and area I would feel safe at that area.
No restaurant anymore and general the hotel is not what is used to be. Very disappointed
Quiet area with friendly helpful staff.
The beach is a few steps away from the hotel rooms. No need to drive or walk far. You are literally on the beach once you leave the property. The hotel grounds are quaint with a Costa Rican flare. There is abundant vegetation all around. We saw macaws fly while in the pool in the evening. It was quite a view!! The hotel does not provide food services; however, they provide express service if you need anything from the grocery store, pharmacy, or restaurants. We drove into Jaco where you find a variety of restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, and even a karaoke bar. Staff at the hotel were friendly and treated us like family. It is the slow season in CR now so it was quiet at the hotel. We did see other guests that were there for surfing and yoga. We were told the hotel is busier in high season so plan ahead. The hotel is rated as a three star hotel, however, the easy access to beach, within a few feet from the rooms, made it an unforgettable experience worth our time and money. We are definitely going back!
Great staff, location and quiet stay
Great stay at BBR. Very clean; by the beach; and very attentive staff, specially Yurgen Araya and Junior at the Reception. Staff is welcoming. Great location near everything. Main Street with great restaurants and bars is just few blocks away. The only negative thing is that after the pandemic they closed their onsite food and drink services. So, if you want something you either grab it yourself or order delivery.
Water stains in toilet and sink and roaches
This property is located right on the beach, with easy access. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the AC is incredible. However, the beach is very popular with locals and is a little crowded. And be aware there is no food or ice available on the premises. All in all, a good stay.
I was very happy with our stay at Beach Break Resort. The property is on the south end of the beach which made for a more private experience and yet close to town. There were many employees around to ensure a good experience. The one thing I think they could do to help other guests have a wonderful experience is to help book trips.
Our stay at Beach Break was great! The property is really pretty and within walking distance to the main shopping/dining area of Jaco. The pools were also a great addition when the ocean was too rough to swim. The only downside was we had issues with the wifi connection in our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful in getting it fixed and troubleshooting but we had spotty wifi the whole time during our stay. If you are not relying on the property wifi then no issues at all!
nice and clean hotel but no where to get coffee in the morning hard to find food options close by
Ok
My time at beach break was filled with peace, beauty, self love and so much more. I will stay at Beach Break again and again and hope to bring my children with me next time! Pura Vida!
I dont like it because the hotel no has restsurant or bar not even a soda machine
What a fantastic stay!
It was right on beach, no bar or restaurant and dated but clean
Nice property, beautiful gardens!
It was absolutely wonderful to walk straight out on the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise.
Beautiful place, big comfortable rooms, awesome location, would not stay anywhere else in Jaco!
Was better pre pandemic
This place is truly amazing! I am definitely curious to how this resort looks during dry season.
Poor customer service.
There is nothing we liked. The room was filthy, bedsheets were dirty, the sink water was brown, mold in the bathroom. We planned to stay a week at the hotel but instead we got a room at the Oceano hotel. I asked for a receipt that we checked out and they denied the request. Orbitz should be ashamed of promoting this hotel on their site. The so called resort didn’t have a bar, restaurant and pool was unclean. Orbitz should remove this hotel from their site.
Great setting. Could be beautiful with investment. Nice staff. Lousy management.
The restaurant was closed.
The room was full of mosquitoes and the kitchen area (where the coffee maker is) was super dirty, greasy
I enjoyed this hotel. It was a little unorganized and definitely oversold in the photos and descriptions. Staff was friendly. Overall I would say it is a positive experience.
Large rooms
It is extremely clean, quiet and right on the beach. There isn’t a restaurant or bar right now but it looks like they are getting things updated. Perhaps new owners. I would highly recommend this place. Best location and beautiful pool and lounge chairs.
Clean and quiet
Our stay was satisfactory. There was no restaurant and no laundry as advertised.
It’s an old hotel. No tv, phone, mini fridge, It’s basically just a room. This hotel needs to be remodeled badly. The staff was great tho.
No hot water for showers in the room.
Great choice for a stay in Jaco
Very simple hotel. Was very quiet during my short stay, not many guests.
Horrible horrible experience.
Pictures did not reflect the hotel. Hotel staff were terrible. Room looks like it hasn’t been clean in weeks. Air conditioner did not work. Found a death cucaracha in the bathroom.
Beach Break July 21
Very good.
Good service good installations in good locations
Was a bit saddening to see the affects of covid taking a toll on businesses.
Rain forest and white sand beach!
Tucked into the rain forest and a white sand beach. Spectacular !
Great stay- rooms are very quiet and we were not disturbed by the parties going on around us. Pools are convenient and it's close to the ocean. Only issue was that there were no refreshments or restaurant on site (but I blame that on COVID). Just bring your cooler and lunch
Another great stay at Beach Break
The property is falling apart and there is no longer food service at the property but it’s comfortable, quiet and located right on the beach. The staff is very helpful s asks spoke good English. The shower had hot water and A/C worked. The beach side pool was a bit greenish and we found a few blue crabs in it but it’s was swimable. The standing water in the river created a breeding ground for bugs but it’s pretty much expected in Jaco. The best bonus for me was a free surf lessons included with the booking. I will definitely come back.
Overall, it was an ok experience. No onsite food was disappointing but other restaurants were close by. Property is a little dated but adequate for a nights stay or 2. It was fine.
The word "resort" is an overstatement. The surfing shop, bar, and restrurant are not open... maybe due to Covid. The rooms are out of date with old bedding and flat old pillows. The curtian are not black out and there was a bright light right outside the window. Wi-fi was good. Direct access to the beach. Great location if you are wanted to get off the beaten path of Jaco. I will say that the loud music was turned off at a decent time.
I like that the property has 2 pools areas with both kids pools! Really kid friendly. Loved the area beachfront not so crowded like in the middle of the Jaco, really friendly staff and really clean place, although it doesn't have a restaurant or a bar due to covid hits you have a lot of options around in where to eat! I really liked the place although it has like a backyard that I think that space it is not well utilized. But overall pretty good for the price we even had a extra bed.
Property was fine, especially for the price. But we discovered a large roach in our room and wasent offered another room or a refund so we left.
Let me start with the fact that my family has been staying at this hotel for over 30 yrs since it was the Jaco Fiesta back in the 1980s. Staff has always been great. However though I know COVID-19 has put a lot of hotels and business in a precarious spot, my complaint is not with the staff but the hotel amenities and maintenance. I rented 4 rooms which were supposed to be the Garden Rooms since we brought along 3 small dogs. 3 of them faced the parking lot not a garden. All rooms DO NOT HAVE : Tvs, toiletries, safes, coffee makers AND NO BARS/DRINK or FOOD services on the premises. There was a water dispenser in reception area. All rooms had small fridges. Rm 16 - the air conditioner didn't not work the entire weekend. Rm 17 - had a broken lamp and NO mirrors in the entire room. Rm 18 - 1 bed had a huge crater in the middle of the mattress. ORIGINALLY was given Rm 29 - air conditioning didn't work nor the lights....so was changed for Rm 22 - no dresser mirror and a huge frog was living the shower (my friend caught it and released it in the garden). The prices I paid per night were the same as a few yrs ago when all the missing amenities were still in place (including free breakfast) but now with a lot less to offer. I will take the blame for not checking the amenities offered now. But I didn't think to check since other hotels in Jaco still offered what the had been offering in the years past. Disappointed is how we all feel.
I enjoyed my stay at the beach break resort and would go back. I was disappointed that the on-site restaurant and bar were closed due to covid but it is close to town and other bars and restaurants. The only thing that I did not like was the shower. The shower was clean but the water pressure is terrible and it was difficult to use.
PRETTY SAD CONDITION
not entrance security guard No TV in any of their rooms. No breakfast.
First the section I requested was closed which I was not told during booking, second I discovered no soap to take a shower, informed front desk, said owner does not want soap placed in the rooms, third no tv and very poor wifi, fourth no phones in room to contact desk, fifth I went to the front desk and requested to purchase bottle of water, they don't have any, then I asked for ice, sorry don't have any but we can have it delivered to you, this was 11am at 230 no ice so I drove to town bought ice, water and soap, at 10pm I was sitting outside my room a man employee came up and said here is your ice it will be $10.00 i told him noway I bought ice he said I owe 10.00 I told him to get lost. I have stayed here many times and loved it. I understand covid but most of these complaints are not covid related. I was given an email for the owner but it was incorrect did not go through
The devil is in the details.
I will admit we had a very nice break from Pandemia. The room was clean and nice, the pools were really good, and the beachfront location is wonderful. What you need to know is that this hotel is advertising services and amenities that it currently doesn't provide. The bar/restaurant service is totally shut down. There is no daily room cleaning service. They do not have TV/Premium cable. The hot water only worked the first night. There aren't blackout curtains, etc. All of these details and more have been eliminated in order for them to survive the crisis. I told them they have a responsibility to be transparent in their advertising. However that being said the price is heavily discounted, and they were very friendly to us. We decided not to be upset and ended up really enjoying ourselves. If you want to have an inexpensive getaway and know these details you will probably be happy. We rebooked for next month.
Completely Satisfied
It is a simple hotel, nothing fancy but it is clean, well kept, and comfortable. The rooms were nice, I liked that it had a fridge and a table. The room was fairly large and felt spacious. The pools were nice and the loungers around the pool comfortable for relaxing. Super close to the beach and you can see the ocean from the second pool which I loved!
good for the price... nice people work there...it needs some updating.
Estuvo bonito!
Would definitely stay here again!
What a great find! Beautiful property on the beach, 2 adult pools & 2 kids pools, and an easy walk into town for supplies. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and most speak at least some English. Our room was comfy and cool. The food at the restaurant was only so-so, but the drinks were great! :-)
The layout of the property was good. The first room 2 hours of my time was wasted trying to get the air conditioner working. Moved to 2nd room. Sat on the bed and my butt touched the boards under the mattress. Don't bother
Nice place to stay on the beach, beach has big waves if you like to surf, makes it a little hard to swim. Our room was clean & the staff at front desk & restaurant were nice. Breakfast was very good. For $34 a day per person you can get all inclusive(Lunch, dinner) and drinks from 2-10pm. In which we didn't get it because it only includes local drinks!! Also they make you pay for safety deposit box and there's no ice machine or ice bucket on the property, you buy a bag of ice at the bar for $2 !! Over all It's a good resort to stay for the price, we'll be back.
It's fair priced, in good shape and a great location. Is it the newest/nicest? No. But it's clean, staff is friendly, breakfast is good, they have great drink specials every day and just an overall great place for all parties. Families, friends, couples, etc.
Perfect Beach Hotel
Great place right on the beach and great food for great prices
Location. The amazing beach and the lizards running around everywhere
Friendly accommodating staff great pool swim up bar good breakfast always a stop when visiting Jaco
Overall, the resort offers some nice amenities but could use some upkeep. The grounds are well maintained, food in the restaurant was better than average, the rooms need help. Beds are old and uncomfortable, bathroom is simple but shower door doesn't shut properly so water leaks everywhere, there was also mold growing on the ceiling and walls of the bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is great. We are happy with the price and would recommend to others.
Bar and restaurant very accommodating. Happy hour (sunset specials) are great. Good location.
Jay"s review
It's not fancy but the pools are very nice. They have very nice beach access. Breakfast was very good. The buffet lunch and dinner is so-so but Jaco has many nice restaurantsm
Room and Ocean
Room 8 had air conditioning problems. Had to relocate to another room because of it. Atmosphere and setting are perfect
Didn't know i lost my credit card, yet they found it and called me at my next destination. One of the best places in jaco and the best free breakfast going!
The bedding is clean but getting tired. The bathroom fixtures are also old and difficult to clean
Quiet relaxing place on the beach. Good food, clean and friendly staff. Close to town (walking distance to restaurants and shops), surfing lessons and boards available on site with excellent service.
The proximity to the beach is spectacular, the restaurant, loan of beach chairs and near Jacó center. If it is true that the rooms need maintenance, it is something they have to improve.
Loved the location. We could walk into town easily but had many great meals onsite. My daughter enjoyed the surf lessons so much she went twice! Would definitely return! Great deal!
Over it was good clean place the staff was very nice the
Staff was friendly. Free breakfast was good. Other good you had to buy at restaurant was good and priced very fair. Found my self not needing to leave and eat out in town. Noticed it was one of the few hotels that connected to beach. Mostly all other hotels in Jaco had a small street divided beach with hotels. Bar and pool were feet from hotel. I’d definitely stay at this hotel again.
Fun trip
Aside for the airport shuttle issue and slow time we went, the Resort was extremely clean and all staff was very friendly. I will be back again.
The site is old and showing it's age, but they were doing upgrades continuously during the time I was there. The staff is friendly and helpful, we made friends with the staff, they were great people. There is always cleaning ongoing, and the food was great. I would certainly return for another visit to the resort and to Jaco.
Excelente Hotel. Muy cómodo el parqueo y el precio. Frente a la playa

Nice but needs a bit of an upgrade
