Dated and old. Needs refurbishment

The property needs refurbishment. Rooms are ok but just need painting and replacement of furniture and linen. The lobby and restaurant need upgrading as does the bar. Pool area is good but if you have a bar pool open if .

The hotel is rather old although renovated still shows its age. Staff very friendly but reception did not have even a basic medicine such as Panadol. According to them management does not allow for this which I deem a necessary minimum for your guest when needed.

Disappointed that the pool bar was closed for the duration of my holiday as it was one of the main reasons I chose the property. The price is good but all in all the hotel needs a refurb just a lil tired and run down. I would stay again if the pool bar was open mainly because of its price point.

Lovely room with nice view from the balcony, pool area was excellent! Breakfast buffet was great, nice location walking distance to markets, restaurants and there is deli on the same floor as breakfast area

Lovely Beach Resort

The hotel was generally excellent. Good location, great breakfast, nice room and staff. The only slight disappointment was the bar services. Theye were a bit overpriced, the sunken bar hasn't been used for years, and the main bar had no atmosphere (or customers).

Enjoyed my stay there. A lot of makan places around d area. Next to d beach where one can partake in activities like parasailing, ‘banana boat’ing, horse riding. But it’s located far from d airport n d winding roads can b quite a bother for some, n worse if it’s during peak hours.

Bar fridge was frozen and worked very poorly,was charged 10 rmb for bucket ice to chill drinks.matress was very firm.basic maintaince was lacking in many areas,pool,room,fixtures and window cleaning in foyer was in dire need of cleaning.staff at entrance were constantly on their phones.harry in the bar was the shining light very friendly and great customer service .air con worked great in room.very private and quite in room.

Bayview is a nice hotel staff very nice and helpfull plenty of restaurants around just a short walk from hotel and while I did not use the bus, bus stop just outside the hotel and the buses come by every 15 minutes. The bathrooms need a make over for sure but that would not stop me from coming back to enjoy another holiday

Not worth the money

Because this was a getaway close to where we live we arranged for a early checkin and arrived at 1 pm They said our room was not ready and they would phone when the room was ready and to sit by the swimming pool in the heat. I phoned reception at 2 pm to be told it still was not ready and then went to the reception at 2:45. The girl could not find that we had checked in and could not find any paperwork She then rushed around and found us a room and gave us the key cards When we arrived to our room, they were only then putting the requested mattress topper on our bed. We found the whole process very unprofessional and no responsibility taken for their lack of organisation For the price that they charge for a basic room, you are better off paying the extra and staying down the road at the more up market hotels. The so-called swim up pool bar is closed and will not open again in the near future. And the garden bar that is supposed to be open until 7 pm closed at 6:40 and would not serve a drink because they shut the Cash registers down.

Great

This is a nice beach front resort towards the far end of Buffat Ferringhi, so it’s a long walk to the busy area. Its interior room is a little out dated. Nice pool and plenty of seating with umbrella by the beach.

Disappointing stay

We booked 6 nights but decided to leave earlier. A receptionist advised no refund for not used nights, and even did not asked why we decided to leave this resort earlier. The hotel need urgent maintenance work all appliances required to be cleaned properly e.g toalet was dirty and some other common appliances broken / not in use. Breakfast - not much choice for Western visitors. There is z warning not to swim in the see as poison jelly fish. Not sure how this hotel resort achieved 4*??

Had a last minute booking for 2 nights. Room was spacious and balcony was sufficient. Aircon and fridge was cold, and shower had steady supply of hot water. Checking in and out was easy and quick. The lobby looks slightly dated. Room looks more updated, but simple yet functional for my stay. Wifi was available, but not the best of speeds. It intermittently dropped connection on a few occasions. The property has its own beach access on the quieter side of Buta Ferringhi, and there are food options just opposite the hotel, or a 10-15 mins walk to the night market area. I would come back to stay again if it is for a short stay like the one i just had.

The property is old. Definitely needs a facelift. The towels are limp and pale yellowish. Taps and flush makes too much noise. Lots of mosquitoes! Over - rated. It is a two star not a four star! Will not stay there again.

More like a 2.5 star hotel. Hotel is very dated. Bathroom only had a handheld shower and the towels were threadbare. Rooms are big. I had a late flight so at checkout I asked if a courtesy room was available. Reception told me the changing rooms near the tennis courts had a shower. This is untrue as the shower has been capped off which resulted in not being able to freshen up. Garden area was spacious and well kept. Nice pool although the swim up bar was closed and looked derelict. Hotel is walkable to restaurants.

Pleasant stay but far from the town area. Can be very jam to get here during holiday season. Restaurant staffs are not attentive and service is below average. Dining in is not recommended. Overall is a good place to relax with great sunset at the beach. Room is spacious. Suitable for family with small children.

Nice place

This hotel is under poor property management as I could see stains, moulds and dust inside the room especially the mould around the edge of fridge is totally unacceptable. I saw staff mopping the carpet in the hallway instead of using vacuum cleaner or machine. There are stale odours when I enter the room which is disgusting.

Just one slight feedback staff need to inform guest about closed attractions places in Penang example like the closure of Penang Hill.

The toilet and the bathtub were clogged.

Lovely location on the beach

An older looking hotel that needs updating but comfortable and convenient enough. The room was VERY basic, not even any lampshades, which at first was strange but eventually accepted it as minimalist and comfortable. Bed was comfy, with a sofa and desk, and a lovely balcony. I love that there was a bathtub but couldn’t quite get enough hot water in it and the shower flow was stronger than the tap flow. The lifts at the hotel were impressive but the hotel carpets and furniture is dated. The gym has good equipment but no air con and the floor is very old and dirty. Swimming pool was clean and lovely, as was the garden, very relaxing and enjoyable. There were also fun facilities such as tennis and table tennis. Breakfast was fine, average. Some of the staff at breakfast were quite rude, I was told it would take 45minutes to heat the water to make poached eggs and some other staff started yelling at me to choose other types of eggs! Strange. Massage staff at the garden were friendly and very good! Look for Selina or Mr Sun. The area downstairs doesn’t have a lot of restaurants but there are some that are reasonably priced and delicious. If you’re willing to walk 10-15mins, you will find more food choices and other hotels/hotel bars.

Each day the pool had dozens of screaming and splashing children in the adult pool even though the property has 2 kiddie pools. We were on the top floor (10th) and we could hear them clearly for hours on end. The restaurant had terrible and expensive food. The park like grounds were very nice and you could be in a lounge chair away from the pool. There were a lot of watersports and horse back riding and a beach bar and restaurant a short distance away which was good.

Hotel is looking old and tired. Inattention to detail. No resolution of issues. No 'in house' entertainment and the only English speaking programmes on TV are sport & news. So no English speaking entertainment at all. However the garden & pool area is lovely. My Expedia paperwork told me there was a fee to be paid at the property of $13:50 AUD. However I was charged RM180 (Approx $60 AUD) This needs to be sorted out between the Hotel & Expedia.

This hotel has a great location of being close to beach. Their facilities are quite kids friendly with an indoor kid playground and two kids swimming pools. But the hotel's condition is very old and we can see broken pieces everywhere. The breakfast is very basic with some choices. However, the hotel service needs some serious improvement. Just a few examples: 1. when we checked in, we found a cigarettes left in the closet and the previous guest's soap still left in the bathroom. 2. In the 2nd night of our stay, there was a large team building activity within the hotel. Around 11:20pm, a large number of people gathered in the lobby and made huge noises by shouting loudly. Due to the unique architectural layout, the noises go everywhere. No hotel staff tried to ask them to stay quiet. 3. The elevator floor were constantly wet as many guests did not dry their bodies after swimming. But no hotel staff helps to clean the floor. 4. Although the hotel sign requires guests to dress swimming suits to use swimming pools, no one really cares. People just jump into the pool with all kinds of dresses. 5. The breakfast runs from 6:30am to 10:30am. But some staffs disappeared since 9:15am. We like to get hot roti but the staff who made it stopped showing up. 6. The hotel does not provide hand towel (not sure why). We have to call housekeeping everyday to get some.

Great buffet breakfast with large selection overlooking pool, large rooms, hillside view was nice but due to road below, bit noisy to sit on balcony. Staff was excellent and always very friendly and helpful. Sea water this end of beach is very silty and doesn’t feel good to swim in.

Review

We stayed 3 nights, two of them in one room not facing the beach. This room was a little musty, needed to be aired out. The other room was facing the beach and was fresh. Hotel staff were great. We opted for the breakfast and there was a lot of variety offered.

This is our go to property in Penang

This is our go to property in Penang and we have stayed here on multiple occasions. The family suite is very spacious with great views over the pool and the beach. The breakfast buffet in La Verandah is great and sets you up for the day. The hotel facilities are good and the service is above expectations. The only complaint is that the swim up bar has been closed for the foreseeable future. All up a great place to stay especially if you hire a car and need somewhere to park.

Was a great stay. Had a great experience with mr sun and team on foot reflexology. Will deff recommend.

The room I had was HUGE. The king-size bed seemed way too small. The ceiling was at least ten or fifteen high. The hotel itself gave the feeling of staying in a place whose glory days had long since passed. Yes, the room was nice, clean, and comfortable. But maybe because it was Ramadan....the hotel seemed mostly vacant. The lights in the main check-in area, with it's huge domed ceiling, remained off during the day, which gave the place a gloomy look. The downstairs buffet breakfast was just okay. I would visit primarily for the coffee and orange juice.

Excellent hotel. Staff was so helpful and everything was donne we. The A/C is too humid and hard to understand settings.

Nice quiet place . Nice Celine buffet bfast with western and Asian food . The room is big and spacious with a nice balcony. The spa is unfortunately only a small hut near the beach for a simple massage . Would not consider it a spa .

Fantastic hotel and really clean. Rooms done every day and location is right on the beach. Pools are clean, however swim up bar wasn't open and prices at the pool bar were ridiculous in my honest opinion. I would however recommend it to anyone.

Connecting Room Door is not sound proof

We were given a room with connecting door. The sound proofing of this room was really bad, we can hear the occupants of the room chatting and laughing through the night and day when they are in. The toilet do flush well but u have to hold onto the flush until the materials are gone unlike your usual push and go flush system. The plus points are aircon is central and thus we always come back to a cool room. The heater are centralised and thus do not need to wait for the water to be hot. Just need to run the tap for the hot water. Room is big and like the spaciousness of the place.... furniture are a old but well maintained. Overall, the stay is pleasant but I really would appreciate if the connecting doors are more made more sound proof.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included but although there was plenty of food, you couldn't really put much of a real breakfast together. Can I ask in what country in the world do they eat bread and butter pudding and custard for breakfast?!! Rooms were clean, but dated with fixtures and fittings needing replacing. Grouting in shower had mould. Room was damp, so bedding and clothes never felt dry. All that being said it it's well placed on the beach, with a great beach bar nextdoor. It's not 5 star but it was a good place to stay for a few days

I gave the property every opportunity to rectify the situation, but they chose not to do so. Unfortunately, the property is a shadow of what it shows in the pictures, on their official website and even in their internal communications (their internal TV channel, posters around the property, etc.) They state that they have a spa, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, tennis courts, table tennis tables, billiards, a bar and several other facilities that made me book with them. In reality; *the table tennis tables no longer exist *the billiard tables are no longer there *the bar was unmanned and seemingly closed my entire stay *the pool bar was closed *they no longer have a spa *they never had an outdoor jacuzzi and there was no evidence of an indoor one either *their restaurants remained closed (except the breakfast one) *the tennis courts were in dire shape and they do not provide balls or tennis rackets The actual rooms weren't too bad, but the bathrooms had a lot of mold and a very, very dirty exhaust fan. The overall state of the hotel is not great either. The elevator floors are cracked, the main pool had a section roped off because a part of it was green, etc. I was very disappointed as I had booked multiple rooms to celebrate being reunited with my parents and in laws after 4 years. We planned to use the facilities but there simply weren't any. I consider the listing to be falsified and have contacted Expedia to do their due diligence with this property.

Their Laundry services STILL not operating. Create problem for Hotel guest to get their clothes clean n pressing.

Really decent stay: the breakfast buffet was extensive, fresh and good, with real coffee machines. The beach is fully shaded the whole morning, so it's perfect for the kids. The rooms were spacious. If we ever wanted to go back to Batu Ferenghi, we would stay there again without hesitation.

Rooms were dirty (lot of garbage under the beds). Breakfast below average (limited options, food not fresh at all). Staff not very helpful. Beach not nice in that area. Basketball and tennis court not well mantained. Rest of the facilities worn down a bit too. Not a lot of nice places to eat around the property (many closed during the day). Hotel is old and completely overpriced for what it is.

The hotel look old while entering the room the door scan won’t open had to go down to counter complain and waited for almost 15 minutes for them to get technician to come over, but still couldn’t fix had to request to change room at midnight time, imagine we are all tired already, bed and pillow very soft had an uncomfortable sleep for whole night, bed sheet and towel got stains counter staff unfriendly look, pool side can see rubbish everywhere and beverages left over by customer without cleaning up, parking very limited, over all with the room condition with the price I paid is not worth

A nice place to enjoy the sun & beach.

Short overnight stay but was memorable. The place was quiet due to travel restrictions but the staff did a good job to maintain the place well. With less tourist, there were no crowd in the pool or the lobby, it felt like we booked the whole hotel & have everything to ourselves.

Comfy Bed but packed with families

The bed was a super king and very comfy, however our stay was packed with families in the pool and beach and seemed hard without any physical distancing during this pandemic. Staff were friendly and helpful

Generally is good to stay there with family. The breakfast is not a buffet type. The serving time took longer than expected. The food is OK. The furniture is pretty old and the design is ‘80. The beach is nice with water sport activities. The garden is spaces with massage service at a reasonable price.

1.)People actually smoking and vaping in the swimming pool area, even with bunch of kids around, and the staffs just pretend not seeing it...... 2.)Breakfast waiter/waitress were quite rude.

Best Family Hotel in Penang

Overall my family really satisfied with our stay during this period. All the guests and staff followed the S.O.P and maintained a social distance. May I suggest for F&B, During Breakfast Hour, please provide back buffet breakfast with staff at all station to help the guest and maintain the S. O. P. I saw this at other hotel and actually it help the guests for the food portion and reduced food wasting. Our Family Room Suite were big enough for 2 Adults and 3 Children Other the staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities are awesome, just next to Zone H Beach, Batu Ferringhi really enjoyed our stay, Next time Bayview Beach Resort will be our choice for Penang Trip. Thank You for the Hospitality.
