Had a really wonderful stay here while skiing Kicking Horse. A wonderful home “base” for adventures in Golden. Nice rooms, super cozy shared space. No complaints.
We had a cozy stay for 3 nights. Lodge is lovely, and the great room/ common area is terrific for relaxing, eating your own snacks, playing cards or reading about the area in front of the fireplace. 24/7 hot beverages is a wonderful touch, with microwave and sink, tables and chairs available for use. We loved all of that. Be aware: the rooms are cozy and somewhat small, and absolutely not soundproof in the part we stayed in. However, we laughed this off because the location and price and overall vibe of the place was perfect for our needs. (Ear plugs are provided along with soaps and hand cream) Beds were comfy, staff was lovely, and the self check-in if done in advance, made the whole experience easy and positive. Would totally stay here again- the price was right for us.
We’ve been enjoying our stay here and find the setting quite pleasant. However, our experience was unfortunately disrupted when a neighbor knocked on our door to complain that we were being too loud after 10 PM. The only noise was one excited sentence my son spoke before going to bed, as he was thrilled to be here. We were otherwise careful to speak in lower-than-normal voices, and he was asleep by 10:30 PM. Additionally, we used headphones all evening while using the computer to minimize any disturbance. Unfortunately, my son was so frightened by the confrontation that he couldn’t sleep afterward. He’s now too scared to speak, worried that a stranger might knock on the door again. It would have been much better if any complaints could have been communicated by the staff, rather than having a stranger knock on our door directly. This experience was not child-friendly, and I’m deeply disappointed as it completely ruined our night.
I’ve been a fan of the basecamp properties for a while now and in my opinion this one I wasn’t the biggest fan of. It’s an amazing hotel don’t get me wrong but compared to the others it’s just on the lower level. Due to its wood construction the walls are quite thin so it’s easy to hear the rooms next to you clearly. The floors and walls also speak like crazy when someone is moving both in and around the outside of the suite. Now the hotels proximity to kicking horse mountain resort is fantastic and the town is a quick 7-10 min walk away so it makes for a great location within the town of Golden. Also it should be noted that the property doesn’t have any camera surveillance for the parking lots as I found out when I became a victim of a hit & run. Just be careful where you park and ensure you lock your doors if you choose to stay here. And before I forget the staff were absolutely fantastic and did everything they could for me! Definitely 10/10 service!
2nd visit to Basecamp Lodge Golden. Still love the simple beauty of this unique find. Sitting in an overstuffed chair with a blanket and a cup of tea in front of the wood burning central fire place, lit Christmas tree and large windows into the winter night sky is a great way to end the day.
Great lodge for a couple of nights. Clean. Friendly staff. Recomended.
Picturesque stay, very comfortable beds and quality of stay was exceptional, a little bit from town but an easy drive or 15 min walk
Quiet, clean , nice, comfortable.
We loved this property. Our room was amazing, clean, spacious and well thought out. We thought the communal socialising area was fabulous and enjoyed our evening playing board games. Excellent onsite parking, lots of local area information.
Very nice view of the river and mountains. Staff was excellent, and you have to love the coffee machine.
Friendly, clean. Shiwer extremely small
Loved it would recommend!
Accueil agréable. Propreté impeccable. Bien situé. On recommande cet établissement.
The building /decor is really pretty. Room is clean, staff is very friendly. Cons - Room is very small, no place to sit and relax. Just a bed and bench for bags. Floor heater took about 8 hours to heat room on high. Once heated it stayed warm.
Amazing staff. So much better than the usual run-of-the -mill chain motels. Quaint and cozy
Property itself is aesthetically adorable and quaint gorgeous wood burning fireplace and a wood structure reception staff was friendly and nice however she left at 10 pm assuring us the guest would be quiet as it was quiet time from 10 to 7 she left and it was party time for the other young guests staying there ... so i guess if your 2o something youd love it... when tried to share about, loudness, fights and yelling that occured late at night...yes were trying to work out the sound issue... very sad as the place is adorable
Hotel looked great very rustic. Staff was nice. But the room was VERY noisy. The walls must be very thin because we could hear every word the people in the next room said, and their TV. It was very hard to get our son asleep because it felt like the people were in the our room, it was so loud.
Comfortable if you don't mind the noise
The room is clean. The bed is very comfortable. The only problem is noise from surrounding rooms and the sound of the dryer machine kept me up, when I was ready to fall asleep around 9pm.
This property has a great room accessible all hotel clients that has a fireplace and a beautiful view of the mountains. The coffee bar is well stocked and clean.
Not a good place to stay
Definitely will not stay here again. Extremely rude staff.
Heard a lot of noise from the room above us.
Good value - great building
For the over $350/night rate this hotel was definitely over priced. No clock or cups in room No water or coffee in room No safe No deadbolt or chain Entire building shuts down at 10. No front desk If you arrive after 10pm the front door is locked and you must use a code to enter. The lobby is dark. No heat, just a space heater Paper thin walls Loft so noisy with creaky old wood No remote for TV Unit is shabby-Cracks in tiles, cracked sink, old plastic shower curtain. 1 very small mirror in bathroom No closet No iron No phone in room Didn’t receive a check out receipt. The hotel is in an industrial area and backs on to what looks like an abandoned trailer park.
Staff was great.
Excellent place
Comfortable but would not return
Essentially a self service hotel. No staff on site, when you arrive you have to phone the Revelstoke lodge and they tell you your room number and door code. No dining options just complimentary tea and coffee in foyer. Walls very thin, could hear TV from next room. Clean and comfortable room but furniture decor tired.
A nice, relaxing stay
Room was too small
I loved the central coffee and lounge area that is just as it looks on the pictures. The staff we great but the room as at the end of the corridor and was freezing when we walked in The good news was that the staff had a fan heater to solve what must be a common problem. As there are no individual heating controls in the room The room was Extremely noisy and you could hear everything in every other room The location was next to an industrial area, which you can not see from the pictures as they are closely cropped
Very nice!!! Would definitely stay again.
Nice log cabin style hotel. We had an upstairs suite ( no elevator..) with a queen downstairs and 2 bunk beds upstairs. Downstairs was very nice, great view of the river from the bed. Table & chairs, small bathroom with shower. Upstairs lacked night stands and side lamps. A bit cramped. Beds a tad springy. No breakfast included but some cereal offered. One great plus was a terrific espresso / cappuccino machine in the lobby.
The rooms are pretty good unless you are on the back side then you see the trailer park . Also we checked in later in the afternoon went out for supper came back went to watch some tv and it had a crack on the bottom left corner but it still worked and I failed to phone the front desk and tell them about it so after we left then texted and said they found the crack and it would shut off but the tv worked find for us so we had a 400 dollar room plus damage deposit for the TV they would even phone back . It might help if they didn’t have the TV on the bench and maybe support it down in room 200 .
The family room we are in smells bad in the loft. AC not working properly as well.
Very mountain lodge style!
Super option for staying in a very rustic area.
Great little lodge! Beautiful timbers... Super cute compared to everything else in the area.
A good place to stay in Golden
Better end of what Golden has to offer. Bed was broken or lopsided but otherwise the place a great stop if staying in Golden for few nights. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There’s games for kids and free coffee, tea and snacks in the lobby.
Nice cabin like accommodation with convenient virtual access. Clean and comfy bed. Has dining facility to eat and warm food. Not in the best location though, limited shops and dining around. Also we could hear snoring from another unit, through pipes or vents. Also, there were lots of bugs/mosquitos outside the structure when we came. Overall still a good place.
Very clean and cozy rooms
Unique experience in a small town, we were tired, booked it last minute but everything was great. Not disappointed at all with this option, will choose it again if I am in the area.
The room was acceptable for what we needed for our stay but we didn’t like that we had no thermostat in our room and that we could hear the guy snoring in the room above us
Unique neat place to stay with a family
It was simple, everything was clean, no complains. If I come back to Golden I will definitely stay at the Base Camp
Francie was really helpful and accommodating.
Loved the family room - some separation but all together. We played games in the main area and enjoyed the views from our room. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops.
Thin walls but they do provide earplugs. It was clean, no front-end staff was around while we were there, its more of a self do it yourself place vs a boutique hotel that I am use to.
Absolutely beautiful! Clean, tidy, perfect location, excellent staff, unique. Would definitely go again.
nice place
Very nice property and was happy to stay there.
Fine stay, although surrounded by industrial area
Amazing stay in a cozy hotel!
Stayed here for a quick overnight. Check-in via text/email was quick and effortless. The staff on duty were nice and helpful. Got to our room and it was clean and inviting. Beds were comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the mountains. A nice patio and lobby were comfortable and a great place to relax. Would definitely plan to stay here again on our way though, or for an extended stay, in Golden.
It was freezing all night and has very thin walls so we could hear everything in the next rooms. Very pretty log cabin and very clean.
We liked the log cabin style. The 2 story rooms were really cool. Also, the coffee and breakfast bar was a nice touch. My complaint is that you cant control the temperature of the room. The air conditioning made the room so cold we opened the window in an attempt to warm it up. A space heater was in the room and we used it. Keep in mind it was 35 outside that day.
Loved the place. The coffee machine was the best. Beautiful stay!!
We loved the very convenient no staff contact checkin…we arrived at midnight. It was so easy to checkin…input code into main lobby door and again for our room. Room was cool (in spite of heat wave with a welcomed fan blowing in the room). Room clean, beds comfortable and bathroom clean with Rocky Mountain soap. Love the mountain feel of this hotel. Location seems sketch at first (drive to it via industrial area), but it sits along the river. Walking trails etc in the area. Not a long drive from the highway, so convenient for a one night stop. But far enough away that you feel in the mountains and on holiday. Also like to support a smaller franchise.
The room I had was cold. The air conditioning was directly to the bed downstairs and it was hot comfortable.
The property itself is beautiful and well laid out. I like the kitchen area and the back deck. The rooms were quaint and clean. Although I did not like that you could hear everthing! The walls are very thin. Our room was beside the stairs and between those and the room above us, we could hear stomping feet constantly and conversations in the common area from our bed. I also did not like that there was no fan for a noise buffer. Also, there was a quiet rule for all guests after 10pm, but no staff to enforce it. The room above us did not settle down til 11/1130. The property has so much potential, but I would not stay again, I did not get much sleep.
Not bad, but not good
Great quiet location. Ten minute walk along the river to downtown. Cozy and comfortable hotel.
The upstairs toilet flashing extremely loud in the room beneath
The floor was dirty, the bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan, many details were not properly cleaned, and it was very noisy at midnight.
A decent stay.
We stayed for one night in a suite with one queen bed and 4 twin bunk beds, on 2nd floor; bunk beds on 2nd level of the suite. As it is an open space, noise easily travels. Thoughtful with makeup remover wipes, ear plugs and a foldable toothbrush.
Beautiful view, nice room, not just regular hotel room. Only 1 night but, really enjoyed our stay.
Calm place surrounded by mountains and river . Only issue was one staff member has bad attitude in morning who helped us opening our locked door . Everything else was good !
Very clean and decent property with wonderful young staff,
Polite and helpful staff at checkin. Beautiful area to stay in- wish we could have extended our stay.
I really enjoyed my stay. It has a cabin like feel to it. The customer service was excellent. They were very friendly and offered to help whenever needed. Great game selection and they have oatmeal and hot chocolate. I’m glad we stayed here. Basecamp is a really good hotel brand.
Great stay at beautiful location
The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure all our needs were met. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with a stunning view
Didn not like it at all. Staff never there.
Gresy
.
They have Very kind staff memebers :)
Beautiful and quiet!
Outstanding
Great place to lay your head for the night.
Everything is fantastic. The ear plugs provided by Basecamp literally saved my trip. No late check-out was allowed but it’s understandable.
Noisy
I can hear the sound of phone conversations from the next room. Even though I'm farthest from the emergency exit, I still hear the emergency door sound constantly. It doesn't seem like the log cabin is divided into rooms like a hotel. Only after making two phone calls when I went to check-in did a front desk staff finally show up.
Very noisy and location was in industrial area
Great interior and lodge vibes! Convenience location two minutes off the highway provides both peace and access.
Great spot for a short overnight stay
Simply beautiful
Conveniently located, clean and beautiful lodge The room has a pleasing simple but elegant furnishing with a.Very comfortable bed,
This is not your typical hotel room set up which was a nice change with the upstairs bedroom for the third person in our group. We attended in early June when the heat hadn't yet arrived. Therefore, the upstairs bedroom was cool enough for sleeping (no AC by what we could see). Given the room set up, there isn't much floor space on the main floor. You are on your own for breakfast but they do offer coffee and teas. I think this lodge would benefit with a continental breakfast being offered. Otherwise, very comfortable, homy location.
Great hotel
Very beautiful property, a bit noisy between rooms, but we would definitely come back to this one.
We thought this was excellent value and a really great spot
All was great!
Great place to stay!
Neat little hotel. Pretty nice place. Clean. There is zero sound proofing between rooms. There was a guy talking on the phone next door and he sounded like he was in our room.
The room was pretty cramped. We moved the bench out from under the stairs so we had somewhere to sit besides the bed. This is more for skiers, I think, who are only going to sleep in the room.
Great stay
Great stay
Noise noise noise. You can hear people talking in nearby rooms. Showers running. Toilets flushing. Many reviews about this issue suggest they are working on it. Doesn’t seem like much has happened. Great rooms! Great beds! Great hotel. The noise ruins the experience.
Lovely hotel and lovely.staff. we stayed in a room for four, it was beautiful and very spacious. There room had a mezzanine floor with 2 single.beds and a queen bed downstairs. Perfect.for a family with 2 adult children. Clean, modern and staff very helpful. Great coffee machine !!
Clean
Clean, cozy rooms with comfy beds. Good for sharing or family. Nice common areas.
Not only is Basecamp Lodge an absolutely adorable place with great accommodations and phenomenal views, but it is also has some of the most wonderful human beings working there that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! So friendly, genuine and kind! It was a perfect experience.
An Alpine Cottage
The team at basecamp offered exceptional hospitality and efficiency, during this visit. The breathtaking panoramic view of Golden, British Columbia, with majestic mountains in the backdrop, provided a truly relaxing experience. Ample firewood was available during colder days, allowing guests to unwind in front of a cozy fire. You also can also book this accommodation directly through hotels.com and avoid additional charges that can happen at other places where you can only pay at the hotel. The room was well-equipped with plenty of toiletries and in the community area there is a fully stocked coffee and tea machine. Additionally, the carpets were clean and free from any lingering odors. Guests also had access to a designated area for washing dishes, ensuring a seamless transition to the next meal or snack.
This property is off the beaten path but lovely mountains surrounding it. Very quiet i was able to keep windows open. Lovely end room. Very reasonable.
Spent 2 nights, we were on the ground floor and the window faced the parking lot which meant when the curtains were open people could look in. Staff were friendly, there is a coffee area available for coffee and tea. Golden itself is an okay town, nothing wildly exceptional. Had amazing pizza at 'Red Tomato Pies' in town, and saw a few shops.
