Barceló Montelimar - All Inclusive

Can't give this place a perfect 5 but overall it's very good. The beach is gorgeous. Clean, clear view of the sunset. Calm waves but great to swim in. The room was where I'd like to give 4.5 stars but I'll round up because, because it's very minor. The soap/shampoo dispensers were empty on arrival. The AC is awkwardly placed where if you turn it on it hits the curtain so if you want privacy, you have to fenegle it a bit. We stayed at the double bungalow. The food is great, I'm a vegetarian and I was scared I was going to have no options, but on the contrary, very generous varieties of salad, rice, vegetables, and various types of meats, as well as dessert. We took the all-inclusive which included alcoholic drinks, they are given to you in small plastic cups. Cocktails as well, seem to be pre-made to serve people quickly, I had a piña colada and it was tasty and stuck to beer after. The staff that is in charge of all the animation, games and shows at night was another highlight, truly talented and charismatic bunch, they host games during the day and night activities, so let loose and participate, it's so fun. Staff for food is very polite and helps you out when you request things rather quick. Overall I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend it.

My wife and I got food poisoning the very first night and my family that stayed across our room the AC did not worked and got the wrong room. Also, there’s a lot of mosquitos at night. Coming here was the worst decision of this trip.

11/28/24 The property is beautiful, however the place is unkept, food is a repetitive of unhealthy food either to much sugar or carbs. Staff, is not friendly nor helpful. They have a variety Show which is not family friendly. Nothing to do besides being in the pool or beach. I don't recommend it.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food and entertainment were fantastic, I was there a couple of times on the last ten years, definitely I have seen improvement on this visit, not is much tourists like the last times, more local people from Nicaragua, it was a great time.

AC not working, broken shower head, a huge line to get food, tv is so small and not working, no hot water, no welcoming experience, terrible not recomendable and is expensive

It is only a suggestion for your visits, please put up signs for those of us who are tourists, we did not find anything on our way to the hotel that would guide us to our destination.

There is a casino, bars and restaurants that were not open and there was no information on this. All inclusive but common drinks were at a premium. For example Victoria classica was free but tona had a surcharge. I would not recommend it to friends

I had to cut my vacation one day short. Not enough entertainment, food average, room without air-conditioning when we arrived, alcoholic drinks water down, I had to pay for an actual alcoholic drink for my sister to enjoy. The front desk accused me of missing hand towels. (this was the most ridiculous thing) When I complained about all of the above and left one day early, I was not even offer any money back or other accommodations, just to send an email to voice my concerns. I will NEVER go back to this hotel. The only good thing about the whole trip was seein the beach.

Loved the fried plantains. Hated the room, it was filthy, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in forever. There were bugs and ants everywhere, I killed a long poisonous black centipede that almost crawled onto my wife’s foot. The room was so dirty that we refused to walk barefoot. The locals basically took over every day of our stay, the adults only jacuzzi was filled with children. Your locals were extremely rude to my wife who happens to be African American. The food was subpar and somedays just not good at all. So disappointed in our stay, it totally almost ruined our anniversary but fortunately my wife is a sport about it. Everyday she work up with bite marks on her from whatever bugs were crawling around in the bed she slept in. When I booked I asked for a king size bed but was given a room with 2 full size beds. We have been to other Barcelo resorts and know that this doesn’t come even remotely close to the Barcelo standards, I suggest anyone looking at this location close your browser and run fast. The disappointment is beyond words to describe the nightmare of staying at Barcelo, Montelimar. Save your money go somewhere nice the locals have completely destroyed any chance of a decent stay. Couldn’t leave fast enough! ( Side note: Thank you Franklin and Karin at the front desk for being so nice. You guys are the only positive light that shines in this horrible place.)

This is my fourth stayed and maybe the lasts, it not the same anymore, lots of things did not like for the price, it not worth it to come too far for this.

El lugar es muy bonito y acogedor. Tuvimos un buen tiempo de descanso. La playa es muy limpia. El show familiar es muy bonito; sin embargo, la música en vivo solo toca un género musical específico. Si eres amante de la buena comida, te recomendaría que te alojes por poco tiempo. El menú no es variable, y el sabor poco agradable. La comida que sobra en el almuerzo la vuelven a preparar de otra manera y la sirven en la cena. El sabor se vuelve aún más diferente. Si no te gustó en el almuerzo, mucho menos te va a gustar en la cena. Solo una chica tuvo la calidad de servicio y amabilidad a la hora de servir la mesa.

Inadequate accommodation and dining options for families given that it is a resort. No accommodations for kid with special diet. I asked the front desk for banana and yogurt and no response. Internet barely works and only in certain areas. Not worth the expense.

The Casino was(Closed) Advertised 4 restaurants (all a la cartes restaurants) (Closed) Advertised as Bilingual (it is not bilingual) Bus Loads of day use visitors create huge line ups at buffet and bars.. To be fair our room was clean and well kept. This resort seemed to be for locals or Spanish speaking clientele only.. Very Very different then all other Barcelos we have ever been too.

King bed was comfortable! Liked the adult show. I loved the beach! Everyone was at the pool, felt like a private beach just for two.👍 Coffee maker didn’t work.

Kenia P was great with everything and so was the staff at bar Carey. The oceano restaurant was full of people with attitude and were very rude. The hotel was not clean and a lot of the restaurants and bars weren’t open and don’t stay open past 7pm. The drinks were waterer down and the food was nasty. I stayed at the barcelo in puerto Vallarta and it was way better. This was upsetting!

Is my 8th time at Montelimar, and I strongly recommend it to all, one of the best all inclusive resort. The beach front bungalow I had was amazing, from my window I could see the beautiful ocean, and just steps away, the main restaurant, and at each meal it was heavenly delicious.the staff would ask you if you want another drink of whatever you are drinking, before you ran out of it. I felt pampered and is the reason I keep going back, the treatment with respect and professionalism of a well trained staff. They have clubs and casino, and just call reception to pick you up , at night it turns into party time .at the Casino with shows, Disco and Casino. Just amazing. Hiubert Castellon.

The disappointment of a dream

Overall my stay was very disappointing. The 1st time I went here it was 1999 and I was 14 years old. It was one of the greatest experiences of my young life, so now as a parent I had the chance to take my family there. I was excited when I reserved my families stay from August 19-21 two nights and three days . I had reserved two rooms right next two each other due to size of my family. The first day we were put into a cabana with no working AC, and reception was anything but willing to move us all together when they clearly had known about the ac not working. At 9pm we were moved and then room we were given didn’t have a working phone. The waitresses in the restaurants were all always so miserable, the first day we went to dinner my wife was told to move from a table quite rudely, she was told they weren’t serving that side of the room and if she wanted to be served drinks she need to move to opposite side of donning room. My wife quite visibly upsets the best waitress Montelimar has is named Doris Mojica who made my wife feel so much better with her refreshing attitude and was so polite and nice that she made everything better. From that point on every time we ate we looked to sit at side Doris Mojica was working knowing we would get the service my family deserved. I paid over $1,160 for 2 night and rooms were not worth the price and the hotel pool needs a much needed upgrade. It has been the same since I went in 1999. Tree casa in San Juan del sur has better pool & service

Lovely place to stay at!!

It was a really nice place overall very clean and comfortable we felt safe and at peace. The food was good and the pools were excellent.

Massive improvement all around over the last year> food, especially the beef alternatives substantially improved, towels in room readily available (not before), swimming pool towels upgraded in quality, the thatched huts around the pool have brand new thatched material, the pool itself has been substantially improved after a period of serious problems, staff in restaurant recognised us as repeat customers and were overtly helpfull and attentavie during meals, while the Casona night performance on the Saturday was the historical and not particulaly creative performance, the Sunday night was the best show we've seen in many years, it was excellent. Cudos for managent for their efforts and likewise to the rest of the staff.One recomendation: pay more attention to the cleanliness of the bathrooms at the restaurant.

El precio no es para la condición que tiene este hotel nos dieron una habitación donde la llave del baño se le quedaba en las manos no había teléfono en la habitación para reportar pague por 4 personas adultas mis familiares y solo nos pusieron 2 toallas ubo que ir al almacenamiento para que nos entregaran las otras dos toalla y dos toallas para los pies algunos empleados muy amables otros no mi tía que iba por primera vez a ese hotel tubo muy malas experiencias demasiado caro para la calidad del hotel lo siento no me gusto

I arrive at 1:00 pm check in but they told me they have to give me the key until 3:pm at 3 went back to reception to ask for my key and they told me that I can only have 1 towel per room ( hand towel ) for 2 people, my room was VIP, I told the lady that I was going to pay for extra towel and she told me that I cannot have the extra towel the facility was really dirty, in the restaurant I ask for 1 desert for my friend and they told me they did not have more and few minutes later I saw another person bringing the same desert that I ask for to the table next to me , at the reception I ask for the manager but he did not come out to talk to me , I did not use the room and Left, I did not receive any apology from management

The check in process was a nightmare because they didn't have both reservations ready, they then tried to charge me again. But the resort grounds and staff were great. Very beautiful layout, we had to seek out a map, and there was no info on what was open and when. Food was limited but all good. Bars were confusing but the staff was great. Best beach I've ever been to

Mainnence wasn’t doing anything for guests

Location. Room was close to beach and restaurant. Staff friendly except finding someone who spoke English was rare.The room was disappointing. Toilet did not work properly, phone did not work at all, there was no WiFi available and several times there were ants on the wall. Overall it was a good experience except for the room issues.

I loved how clean everything was and how the food was absolutely delicious. Just didn’t like that at night time DJ wasn’t really good and wasn’t even there for about 30 minutes for song requests, left because I was tired of waiting

Staff doing their best they can with outdated facilities. My bedroom only had one functioning position for air conditioning: max cool. Room was a fridge. Or turned off and used ceiling fan

Stay in Montelimar

The hotel is worn out it needs a face-lift. Service is mediocre at best. Too expensive for what it is. The beach is very nice. The staff is friendly.

I reserved 3 rooms for march 06, 2022 for family stay. For my self I have to changed my room 3 times from room 144 229 and 228 , room 229 no AC, room 228 toilet not flushing. The 3 rooms rooms was not clean, durty sheets. The food was poor. No casino, no night club, Terrible place for too much money .

To begin with they give me the wrong room they fixed but then was A lot of ants in my room Big ones really bad answering the phone when I was trying to reach front desk. I do have to say the service in the restaurant from there waitress it was awesome

What a relaxing and comfortable stay

The stay was great and I enjoyed the all inclusive perks. It’s nice and quiet with ample room for morning or evening strolls down the beach. Huge pool for adults or smaller pool for kids away from the adult scene. The price is great considering all the available food and drinks.

Restaurant staff was polite, helpful and efficient however the hotel property was run down to say the least. The room was way below any acceptable standard, public areas were dirty. Amenities non existent. Food was terrible and wifi never worked.

Disgusting !! Room very dirty , it seen I was in low budget hotel , more like a motel . Bed sheet with stain. mole everywhere in the bathroom.the toilet was with dirty it was very disgusting very disappointed with Barcelo hotel. front desk seen not to care about anything. I will never stay again .

For food and pool, this is a good resort

We really enjoyed the stay at Barceló in Montemilar. The front desk is really good and helpful. The resort is big and everywhere we requires 5-15 minutes of walking or shuttle bus riding. Our room was in cabin and it's clean. Bed is super comfortable and like trampoline. There are a few bugs but what do we expect from place with warm weather. There are free drinks for us to take from mini bar in the refrigerator in our room. There are really nice pool for us to relax. The food at buffet is pretty good. Don't expect restaurant quality but not Mcdonald food. Its a typically buffet food. As I have sensitive stomach, I can eat their food very well. Not too much oil or junk. But my girl got sick from their food. I think it's depends on what you eat. There are interactive night show which we enjoy. Tap beers are not great there. It tastes like really old expired beer. And their cocktails are okay not the best. They only serve a little alcohol in drink unless you ask for more alcohol which I didn't. There are abandoned building and attractions such as casino (which is closed permanently), whirlpool (filled with leaves and dirty water), golf (cracked and unplayable surface). Most of their employees are very friendly except for restaurant areas which is not very friendly as they seems to be really busy.

Very dated , don't eat at the pool bar nothing is hot , everything little run down , sun chairs dirty , only bar open in the evening at the small Casino , was expecting 5 star for the price , got 2/3 , really nothing to do , the shopping centre has one store with nothing much , the dreadful piped music in the restaurant is painful , will never no back , nothing good to say about this hotel.

I have made this resort my go to spot for each vacation to Nicaragua. This has to be the worst experience I have had to date. It is specially infuriating when the front desk does not even greet you when you approach them. I had to walk to the help desk because the phone in my room did not work. I needed extra towels, a remote control for the TV, and to complain about not being able to call the front desk. The lady at the counter just stared at me with her neck chain in her mouth. This is a resort and you can't even get a "hello." I was speechless when she explained what had already been explained to me regarding the phone tower. They had no internet or phone service. She stated some rooms had a remote control for the TV and others did not. I was told to use the buttons on the TV to operate it. Really, a wall mounted TV, that I would need a step stool to reach; I was speechless. A second agent took over because clearly this young lady had no customer service skills whatsoever. I booked 3 rooms with a total of 8 guests, most of whom are elderly women. I had to come back to the front desk with 2 of my guests to complain, since they did nothing for me when I went to ask for service. We got a remote control with electric tape holding the batteries and a pool towel; unbelievable but true.

I like that there wasn't many people on the beach I love the view lot's of nature The only thing I didn't like there was not wifi in my room But I will go back It was really peaceful

Nice hotel. Large pool that is well maintained and staffed....all inclusive food is generally good....a la carte menu (Italian) limited but excellently presented and delicious. Nice grounds....bungalows small and could do with little renovation...staff, generally, are good.....several where outstanding...would recommend

We loved the food buffet that they have available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The many pools that they have, the recreational areas, the ATVs, surf boards and horses. The only thing we didn’t like was that they allowed us to check in when our room wasn’t ready yet. There was water and hair in the bathroom floor, the pillows were missing their pillow cases, there were no towels and the night table was dusty BUT they were able to take care of all that right away .
