Everything was excellent except that they never have reservations available and they don’t even try to get you in a waiting list or something. They buffet food was horrible nothing authentic they only good thing about it was the fruit and the fresh juices. We had to go outside of the resort to eat because it was that bad. Service and entertainment was amazing.
Our stay was great, nice room, Bohio buffet was amazing. Restaurant reservations were limited for dinner though. That was probably the only down side to our stay. Shops inside hotel do not accept cash.

The food was not good at all at this hotel . The shower had mold but it was fixed promptly. The staff was cool and it wasn’t much to do at the hotel besides pool & beach .
Pretty unique
Beware any one booking ...All Inclusive does not include shuttle from airport to hotel and back ...this was first time we experienced this booking an All Inclusive! The food was outstanding...variety and quality. Communication with front line staff was difficult ...language barrier made service disappointing.
There was a train shuttle that was convenient for how big the place was, but overall - poor quality service, this place is all over the place with poor management. Short staffed. Our cleaning lady in the room was good and on point. But just the resort itself- I do not recommend. They used the lowest grade alcohol and I don't drink to care so much. But to see so many vomiting and sick around the resort was very unappealing. The buffet food is almost the same exact food every single morning and lunch time. Didn't eat dinner at the buffet. Restaurants didn't have the best food either. Food quality 2.5... my stomach was upset for most of the trip. Just an overall NO for me. I would never recommend nor go back even if it was for free.
We have a very mixed review of this property. First off, it was beautiful! Well kept, grounds were clean (after they picked up the garbage from spring breakers), pools were warm-ish and clear. Food was mediocre at best and as usual, extremely difficult to make reservations at any of the restaurants. Although it says they are a VIP Access hotel, they do NOT offer upgrades which we were told upon check-in. On the booking site, it says "All onsite activities and use of facilities/equipment are included" but that was not true. You had to pay to bowl ($15/per person/per game), pay for use of the pool tables ($8 for 1 hour), one day the waterpark was free and the next it was $10/person. Also, room service wasn't free which I've never had happen in an all-inclusive. Housekeeping was polite and efficient but the room itself could've used some attention. No door on the shower (when you're with your kids) it'd be nice to have a little privacy. The lights were all or nothing and the ones over the bed didn't work. The balcony whirlpool was a nice surprise. I would definitely stay in the area again but the amount of unsupervised 18 year old's was a turn off so not again over spring break. If I could separate reviews: Property 4.5/5, Food 2/5, Pool 4/5, Shopping 5/5, Ocean/Beach 5/5, Rooms 3.5/5.
This is my second time visiting this hotel, and I highly recommend it. The beach is beautiful, the restaurants are varied, and the service is excellent. You have everything you need to enjoy your vacation with friends, family, or partner.
DID NOT LIKE: overcrowded buffet, quality of food extremely lacking, absence of shade/umbrellas on the beach, staff not sufficiently fluent in English, instructions where you can eat were not stated clearly ( all-inclusive but some buffet asked for additional charge to use) DID LIKE: beach, swimming, sea
The pools are beautiful. A lot of onsite activities, pool or beach volley ball, kayaking, hobie boats, balls are ok in the pool. The rooms are modern and clean. There are plenty of dining options, something for even picky eaters.

We liked the room. It was very nice and clean. We did not like waiting 5 hours for it. All of the extras were not really explained. We had a butler but had no clue until our last day.
Great beach! Even some turtles came and visit daily. Well maintained garden. Clean paths. Adult areas highly appreciated. The service at the bars were fast and polite. All employees were kind and we tried our best to get around not speaking spanish. Two things were not optimal: Late Dinner option at the Surf&Turf restaurant was good but it seems like our waitress was far overworked and tired. Not ONE smile, several mistakes and rude service… we spoke with the manager. In one night we got three visitors in our room. Obviously by accident and cleared situation fast but not a good feeling that someone could enter our room with another bracelet… recommendation: always lock the room from the inside.
We really enjoyed our stay at Barcelo Bavaro. The beach was really nice and you can snorkel with the sea turtles ( my favorite). The resort is big and has a lot of different activities to do for all ages. Pools are big and lots of chairs. The only improvement needs to be the check in and check out process. It went fairly smooth but could be improved. I would definitely recommend this resort and will be coming back.
El hotel estuvo excelente en todo, sus empleados siempre muy amables y atentos ayudar en lo que uno necesita. El hotel lo mantienen muy bien y limpio.La única recomendación es que me gustaría escuchar mas musica latina y en especial Dominicana en la discoteca. Se enfocan mucho en los Norteamericanos y ellos son los que se tienen que adaptar a nuestra musica y cultura. Si volviera a Dominicana me volvería a quedar.
Well laid out and nice
It wasn’t all bad. There was lots of food and sunshine, but the staff seemed to unenthusiastically complete only the tasks they are told to do. If you need anything else you are on your own and you really have to push to get even what you ask for. For instance upon arriving for our 25th Anniversary we were given a room in the 3000 block with two twin beds when we booked a Junior Suite that was advertised as having a king. I immediately went to the front desk and they said there were no other rooms available, come back the next morning to see if anything opened up. So we stayed our first night in separate beds. The room was old and worn with exposed wiring, rusting fixtures, and a light in the room that could not be shut off. The next day I went to the front desk first thing and they said there was still nothing they could do. When I explained that we booked and paid for a king room so we would like to stay in one … they said if we wanted to try again at 3pm I could come back and ask. At 3pm I over heard the girl at the front talking to someone on the phone something about how “he keeps coming back again and again”. She left and eventually came back and said they were able to move us to a new room with a King bed in the 5000 block. When we got there the room was so much nicer. What a hassle! If we were on our own we were fine … but as soon as we needed to deal with the staff there seemed to be issues. Other instances as well but I’m running out of characters.
Hotel overall was nice. Only negative was the dress code for men’s to enter to the restaurants.

I enjoyed my stay here! Very beautiful property with great entertainment and food! The Koyoto Restaurant was my favorite! Book all of the restaurants you want to go to the first night at guest services. The breakfast was a second favorite at the buffet. The staff was awesome. Housekeeping great! I recommend bringing US Dollars for tips if not you can use the atm at the hotel and get pesos. I will definitely return with my kids to enjoy

Managers were calling out employees at the Buffett because they were not making enough tips, and they had to improve the customer service. I think they were doing great and that’s not their fault. Calling out your employees in front of the customers is awful.
I loved this property. It actually is a palace. It’s so much to do on the resort you will need to stay atleast a week. Make sure to make dinner reservations bc this property has about 12 restaurants. There are 24 hour buffets. There are live shows and a plethora of other amenities and activities. The pictures are exactly how the ocean view is which was absolutely beautiful. I wish I could have moved in to be honest. I would recommend 100/10 and I would definitely revisit this resort. A must see

Everything was super nice
They gave me and my gf a room with two beds at first that was filthy, then changed to the one bed room I ordered but was filthy again, then put us in the room I thought I ordered the whole time it was ok but still just felt dirty. The Food was absolutely terrible, rooms had a layer of just dirt everywhere, pools and beach were nice but the entire resort had this sewage smell that was terrible. Don’t recommend this place.

Our 5th time at Barcelo but food akways taste the same..not tasty. Bakery has no taste either. Example: lazania taste nothing like lazania..only had a bite and spit back, spagetty was horrible, pizza had no cheese. All bakery was kind of dry and no taste. Otger than the food everything else was good

Quiet, secluded, all in one package.
Property was cleaned, and very large. The staff dont seem to be happy to be there. The bowling center staff was rude and were unclear, and seemed bother by our questions. We speak spanish and there was a language barrier. The food, not good i only ate beacause i didnt want to starve.
We had a wonderful week at the Bacelo Bavaro Palace. The staff was extremely nice and helpful when needed. We mostly stayed in the adult pool area where the bartenders there were exceptional. The beach is also fabulous. We plan on going again.

Great property overall, very clean and easy to navigate. Food was inconsistent some restaurants it was amazing and others were ok. Staff was nice but we did have a Challenge speaking English with a lot of them. Rooms were very clean and the resort was incredibly clean and well maintained. Barcy pool for kids was so incredible.

After visiting Barcelo Riviera Maya, where he had an amazing experience, we decided to try the Barcelo Bavaro. Unfortunately the experience was average. Food was average at Buffett and about the same every single day. Plates piling up at the table, often need to ask for water or utensils or to clear plates. Staff could smile a bit more. Beach was nice and aquatic activities at the beach and kids aqua park were nice. One day, left our towels at the pool chair for swim and when came back towels were gone and policy was to pay 20$ per towel “lost”. Otherwise the building, gardens, pools are well maintained. Wouldn’t go back.

Barceló Bávaro Resort provided an excellent stay for our family! Our room was spotless, and housekeeping did a fantastic job coming by daily to clean and provide fresh towels. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great, with a variety of options to choose from. I highly recommend making reservations at some of the on-site restaurants—they are definitely worth it! Japanese Restaurants was great! The only small drawback was that we weren’t given a map at check-in. With such a large resort, it would have been helpful to have one right away. Overall, please don't believe all the negative BS comments, because we did, until we arrived here and saw it with our own eyes. Our family had a wonderful experience and would absolutely return! P.S. get rid of the stupid paper straw!

this was easily the cleanest and most well attended staff facility i’ve visited in the last ten years. fantastic experience. already wanting to visit again in the future.
Beach is beautifully kept and grounds are beautiful. I did get food poisoning on the 2nd full day,(I believe it was the nachos, I loaded up with guacamole, salsa, chicken and onions) kept me in my room for an entire day. The rest of the trip I was unable to eat or drink other than water, bananas and toast but I made the best of it. I was unable to sit through any reservations due to feeling ill so I can’t not personally comment on them, although my family enjoyed a few of them. My kids enjoyed the mini golf. The water park we stayed at for an hour, would not pay to use again. We enjoyed walking down the beach to the shops for souvenirs and my daughter got her hair braided. Our room was the family duplex, we absolutely loved it and the second bathroom came in handy. Not much nighttime entertainment, other than the 10pm shows which was late for us. We made it to one which was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I would not return compared to other resorts at this price.

I stayed as a VIP and there was nothing VIP about this resort. I initially booked a family duplex and was given a completely different room so I had to pay for an upgrade. I am from NYC so I understand my expectations for food may be a little higher than average, but the food was absolutely disgusting (both at the buffet and at the restaurants)! Staff was extremely unfriendly.. You would think they might care about service when working for tips but not at all… The sports bar smelled like complete garbage, nothing special about any of the other restaurants either. Casino is only open from 3pm to 3am and there is nothing to do when it’s raining (bowling alley costs additional fees). Typical all-inclusive experience with people reserving chairs by the pool and on the beach without sitting at them for hours, people were having to sit on the ground (including myself) to enjoy the sun (without waking up at 7am to reserve chairs). Very limited entertainment from what I’m used to.. Expected some kind of music and fun going on throughout the day. Servers don’t come to beach at all and lines for drinks were always extremely long.. Check in and check out took at least 40 minutes both times.. Tried making dinner reservations which took another hour because they wouldn’t let you book for the entire week. The AC in the room didn’t work and the TV box was hanging with loose chords behind the tv on the wall.. and there were opened drinks in the fridge.. it just looked sloppy.

Overall, my family had a great experience. The staff was excellent, and the beach was the best part. The kids really enjoyed the water park. The food was good, but the quality could have been better. Everything was clean, and the entertainers were very talented. The only downside was that people were smoking everywhere. While the staff did a good job keeping the area clean, it was still bothersome. Fortunately, since the area is open, it aired out. I still recommend this place and will definitely go back.
Our trip was wonderful. People were fantastic. Property beautiful. My only points would be some of the restaurants were not great and some of the rooms need some updating.
I recently stayed at Barcelo Bavaro and unfortunately, my experience was not up to expectations. Upon checking into my room, I noticed a strong, musty odor, and upon further inspection, I discovered visible mold in several areas of the bathroom and near the air conditioning unit. This was quite concerning, as I was expecting a clean and comfortable environment. While the hotel’s location and amenities were convenient, I cannot recommend staying here until the mold issue is properly handled. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve the conditions for future guests.
Birthday Celebration
Great friendly and clean report. The resort offered plenty of activities and food options. There was no need to leave the resort unless you wanted to visit the local community which i highly recommend. The golf staff Yessica was outstanding! I had been calling the Lakes Golf course for weeks proir to my arrival to schedule a tee time to no avail. Yessica was able to squeeze me in for a tee time to celebrate my birthday. My entire trip was to be able to play golf on my birthday and she made it a wish come true. Yessica was also able to find me another opening to play the following morning. Yessica’s above and beyond call of customer service made my birthday vacation one of the best ever! The entire staff was very professional and extremely friendly!

Food okay, both Labrisa & Lafuente restaurants very good. Very limited english by staff. Welcome/check had no beverages and food. Little or no info, hetes your room number and a map. Never seen that anywhere else Punta Cana or mexico.

Service - Excellent service, if you take care of the staff the staff will take care of you. Cleanliness - Out of 5 stars i would give them 4.4, keep in mind the place is massive. Where could be improved - The beach, picking up the weeds from the ocean, even know they did a good job for the most part there is room for improvement. Restaurants - They require you to go and book them after checking in, this process is outdated and time consuming. It took us over an hour waiting to make reservations, on top of that we were told we can only make three out of the four nights. The Restaurants were decent however we stuck mostly with the buffet. Hotel - The main lobby and other public areas are huge and have plenty of space, the rooms are outdated and in need of an update. The theater was unbelievable. I would definitely consider going back, i just hope they update the rooms.
I had to pay extra for all activities they have including waterpark, no extra beach towels were given, I wanted one more towel to cover my self on the beach for afternoon nap and the towel was not provided. All drinks alcohol and non alcohol are not good at all, not even average.
Worst experience ever in all my years traveling. We had to wait 1 hr to even make reservations for restaurants and even then they had no availability. The buffet food was so bad and not to mention all inclusive but still have to pay for room service. Had to order food from outside hotel cause it was so bad and even then i had to pay a taxi to leave property to pick up cause they dont let delivery in. They dont even offer a cart. They make you pay taxi $10 to pick up. Sure ibhad bed bugs considering i woke up with bumps and itching. Scenery was amazing. Neber seen such miserable workers. They dont smile or greet properly. More like attitudes then anything. I can go on and on aboit this place.

Poor service
Room access key did not work 5 times. Ac had problem first night. The plug out of wall. The floor was totally wet because a/c humidifier wasn’t working at the beginning. Waited for 45 min just to make dinner rezervasyon at customer service desk.
Service in a la carte restaurants were subpar. Were served by multiple servers during the meal but nobody really took care of us. Quality of food is bad around all restaurants we dined at.

Warning!!! Poisoning food ! Horrible experience!!! My son went to the emergency (that is VERY expensive in Punta Cana !!!) where analysis confirmed it was bacterial infection from the food! I had gastrointestinal problems as well ! They didn’t compensate anything, they didn’t offer anything!!! I’m still waiting response for my official complaint (2nd month) no any reaction from administration…. Plus property is very old this hotel requires total renovation especially rooms Times ago this hotel was nice (great ideas) but it needs to be fixed!!!!
