Room was wonderful. Loved the daily muffins. It is a steep climb to the property from downtown. Good hike or take a cab back. Very comfy bed. Limited kitchen access but was able to use microwave w owner’s permission.
Balmoral Lodge
We had a great stay at Balmoral Lodge. The lodge is in a beautiful location overlooking the lake. The property is a little dated but the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed.
Pictures of the views for Thai place didn’t do this place justice. Our views from our windows were gorgeous! The Hostess was very nice and receptive to our needs. Although the house was on a busy street, we didn’t feel like the place was too noisy. Easy walking distance to downtown, bit of a climb coming back from CBD. Highly recommended for extended stays, just make sure you plan for breakfasts.
Beautiful property, close to the city centre however far enough away you’re not in the chaos. Amazing views from the room. The staff and owner were so lovely and their little dog Benji was very welcoming. Would definitely be staying here again when we come back!
Perfect spot
Every detail is attended too. Muffins and tea in my room in the morning and snacks and cocktails in living room in the evening. Views were amazing and landlady went above and beyond to be helpful to me. Loved this place. A little piece of serenity.
The place was perfect for my partner and I for 5 nights. The view was perfect and the place was clean and comfortable. We will be back if we ever return to Queenstown again.
Great property, great hospitality and great views
Just up the road from tons of restaurants and shopping
Very beautiful place! The staff is very kind! We recommend ir so much!
Very friendly Host, so helpful & welcoming I will be back !!
Lovely place with exceptional lake and mountain views. Views and rooms are as lovely as the promo photos . Cosy, comfortable, welcoming owner and very helpful staff. Friendly atmosphere.
The Balmoral Lodge was a great spot for our Queenstown stay. Although it was up the hill, it was quite convenient and provided a beautiful view of the lake. Our stay was wonderful and would highly recommend it to visitors. We also really appreciated on-site parking!
Comfortable, spacious and classy decorations accommodation with beautiful view of lake Wakatipu and the mountains behind.
Vid is an AWESOME host!! The lodge is clean, walkable, has great parking and very comfortable beds!
Just amazing! Loved everything about it. Rafaela was absolutely wonderful.
Balmoral Lodge is a house up the hill from the centre of Queenstown. It is a nice clean house and our room had its own good clean bathroom and shower. The lady who comes in each day to clean the rooms is so kind and helpful and did our washing for us. It is a steep hill to walk from town but if you don't want the 10 minute walk it's easy enough to grab a cab.
Great Views. Subpar Everywhere Else.
We spent 12 nights in New Zealand and the two at the Balmoral were the lowlight. While the view was magnificent and exactly as pictured, the room itself was stuffy, with mold in the heavy curtains, carpets, or both. The Balmoral uses candles and incense and open windows to mask the room's condition; when Queenstown's colder evening temps led to closing our room's windows, the inside air not only became unpleasant, but for anyone with allergies or any respiratory issues, nearly unbreathable (note that without screens on the windows, bugs and flies also freely entered...which is not a fault of the owner/operator, just something to be aware of as a future guest). We spent the first night weighing whether to check-out early and eat the cost of our second night (as the Hotels.com booking, done weeks earlier, was non-refundable, a red flag to us for future bookings) and only limited options (during high season, for under $400/night) prevented that outcome. With that all said, for older couples this place may be exactly what they're after! But for us it was not. Details like a bathtub with a rounded half shower curtain were odd and the uphill location (that provided the great view) requires a fitness level for returning at night's end.
Incredible view from room!
We had a great stay at the Balmoral Lodge! The lodge was nice and clean and provided for a wonderful holiday!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
The hosts were so welcoming and generous. The place is beautiful with a wonderful view.
Great location with wonderful views of the lake, Cecil peak, Walter peak, the town and the gardens. Perfect housekeeping and the laundry and kitchen were very useful. And besides the great view, had a great sleep too. Wonderful place to come back to!
Quite, peaceful, tidy, lovely service, 10 minuet walk to town center, spectacular views. Just perfect.
This accommodation has a beautiful view and is still close enough to walk into town. I had a snowboarding accident and the owners were incredibly accommodating to this and included a free breakfast, which was very kind and thoughtful of them. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting an affordable place to stay that overlooks Queenstown’s beauty.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Balmoral Lodge. Sis made us feel right at home, and you couldn’t ask for a better view. It was an easy walk to the downtown area as long as you’re not afraid of hills, and there was plenty of parking if you’re driving and prefer to get around town that way. Would happily stay again and recommend to friends/family!
We stayed there for 3 nights, in the two bedroom studio apartment. Really great host, clean property, walkable to the city (keeping in mind the uphill), muffins and chocolates everyday were a bonus! Really enjoyed staying there. Highly recommended. Laundry and kitchen was a bonus too :)
It was a lovely view and comfy bed with clean bathroom etc, always different staying in a "home" - however we were very independent from everyone and enjoyed our alone time in a lovely room with plenty of room to relax.
This place was perfect, comfy beds, fresh muffins in the morning, view from the garden was amazing and very close to town. Can literally walk to town in 10 minutes. Owner was very friendly and so was her little dog which may visit you while having a coffee in the garden. Would definitely stay again next time I am in queenstown.
Everything we need for lodging - clean, small property with wonderful views of Queenstown and the lake.
Our family had a wonderful stay in thr two bedroom and king room. The garden patio outside the living area was a welcome surprise and the most beautiful views of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. Wish we could have stayed longer. The owner Cis and her friendly doggo Benji were lovely and accomodating. Would highly recommended this as a home away from home whilst exploring Queenstown.
A wonderful stay in Queenstown
This is an amazing place to stay in Queenstown, directly uphill from town center, about 15min to walk into town and about 20min uphill back. Plenty of parking also, just take care with the hills and winding roads which I don’t think you can avoid in Queenstown. The host and a friendly dog Benji also lives in this very spacious and beautifully designed house. Although a little like a B&B, but serviced just like a hotel. Muffins and chocolates are complimentary daily, as well as a guest living area with amazing views and small selection of wines and spirit for a nightcap. Cleanliness was superb and we had a great time there!
Great view of lake!
We stayed here for 4 nights (family - two adults and two teenagers), and it was just perfect for our stay. Two bedrooms (one queen, and one with two singles). The lodge was large enough to give everybody space, with two bathrooms. The lodge was self-contained with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. It was serviced daily, and the complementary chocolates and muffins each day was a very nice touch! It is a walkable distance into town, but it is on a steep hill so you'd only walk if you're very fit! The views were amazing! A very comfortable stay! We would stay here again if we're every lucky enough to come back.
Wonderful view in cozy lodge w/ the sweetest owner
What a wonderful lodge! I had the most pleasant stay after leaving another hotel. The view from the room was worthwhile. You could see straight to the mountains, and there's so much natural sunlight. It was so cozy that I didn't want to explore the town as much. Balmoral Lodge is a 15 minute walk downhill to Queenstown, but I would recommend taking a ride share back up since the hills can be brutal. The view is totally worth being a little farther from the city center. I also took a moment to speak with the owner of the Lodge. She's so kind and wonderful to talk to. She also has a dog, Benji, who greets people as they check in. I would stay here again.
The views were amazing
This was a good location within walking distance to Queenstown. It was relaxing and quiet and easy to come and go as i needed. Cis was a lovely host, and everything was clean and fresh. Lovely stay.
Great service and lovely muffins each day
The lady was so lovely made sure we were comfortable and had lovely talks. She let us leave our bag longer on the last day. The view was incredible from our room. You could walk down to the main town in 10 mins. Walking back in all uphill, very doable but a umber or taxi home was under $10.
Stunning Lake View in Town Apartment
Stunning beautiful view over lake and mountains, close to town, parking right out front. Enjoyed the jet tub and comfy beds after each day on the slopes. The laundry room was great for all the gear. Was so comfortable we ordered 8n with a movie instead of going out in town. would stay here again. Enjoyed the muffins provided every day.
excellent
An absolute joy to stay in this quaint boutique lodge. Celso was an excellent host. The room that we stayed in was very clean ,spacious and tastefully done and the view was just stunning ! Free parking on site and walkable into town. I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely stay there again.
Superb view Good parking Nice decor No microwave Excellent hosts Guest lounge with welcome drink and chocolates
Normally I was lazy to give comments, but this time I have to say it’s the best one in all of my NZ motel experience. The landlord is very nice, the rooms are tidy and the facilities are modern equipped. It’s definitely enjoyable!
Half Marathon haven
Excellent accommodation, fantastic views from bedroom, close to city. We would definitely stay there again.
Outstanding views, great hospitality, very comfortable beds with excellent pillows. Newly renovated and very clean. I will definitely stay here again next time I go to Queenstown.
The staff where amazing and looked after us very well
We loved the Balmoral Lodge. The apartment has everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and daily housekeeping. The location could not be better. The views from the apartment are fantastic and better than in the photos online. The location is very close to downtown Queenstown. We used Uber and it was very cheap when we went into town at night to avoid driving and parking issues. The staff +
One of the Best Stays I have ever Stayed...
Our stay was made perfect by our hotel and our host. Cys was wonderful, even giving us a needed ride into town one time! Our room was always spotless, our greetings were always warm, and the bonus is Benji, her dog, who warms the home even more. We spent one evening in the family room available to guests just to watch TV not in our room and away from it all - it felt like home and very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone that loves the feeling of home while away from home. The views, location, and hospitality are great! Thanks to the Balmoral Lodge for making our Queenstown stay the best of all my adventures.
Great location on the edge of town.
The hotel is on the outskirts of town, but close to the city center (about a 5 minute drive most days). The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was a small apartment and having in-room laundry and a kitchen saved a lot of time and money during out trip. The staff was friendly and respectful of our privacy. I recommend this location for a family looking for room to stay.
This lodge was a lovely stay. We had beautiful views of the mountains and lake. This seems to be a family run lodge and the owner seemed to live on the first floor and so there isn’t a true check in desk which was a bit confusing on check in but no problem once she came out to greet us. Our room was on the second floor. No elevators so be prepared to bring luggage up a short flight of stairs. The main lobby is adorable with free drinks and little snacks available. The room was very clean and well maintained. It felt very homey and I had a great stay overall. Parking is available on the property which was a huge plus as parking in the heart of the city was difficult. It is walking distance to the city, about a ten minute walk but very steep uphill up to the lodge and downhill to the city. It was a nice workout but may be difficult for some. Overall I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again!
Balmoral Lodge
Place was well kept and had an amazing garden and view, the owner was very friendly and accomodating. The lodge has all the essentials you need to make your stay comfortable. I have to point out though that the place is not as accessible for travellers without a vehicle as it is located on a steep hill, parking is also a bit limited although the owner will find ways to accomodate. Takes about 5 mins drive to get to town. Great place overall.
View from our bedroom was the best thing. Bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. But we were expecting a hotel beside the lake - it wasn’t even bed and breakfast - just a room with a 10 minute walk down a very steep road to the lake and shops. Parking was hard to find so we’ ended up walking there and paying for a taxi back. This would not be a suitable place for anyone with mobility issues. The people who were temporarily looking after the place were very friendly and looked after us well
Highly recommendable
We had a great stay at Balmoral Lodge. Our hostess was very welcoming and helpful. The room had the most beautiful view over the lake, was clean and had a very comfortable bed. It’s advertised as having a jetted bath which our room didn’t have but still had a full sized bath tub which was so nice after a long day walking around Queenstown. Walking into town is an easy 10 minutes downhill, the walk back up to the Lodge is a little steep but an Uber was only $7 if we didn’t feel like making the hike
Amazing Lodge, Beautiful Views
Although we didn't realise it was a B&B, we were more than pleasantly surprised by Balmoral Lodge. Sis, the owner, met us and was very welcoming. Our rooms were large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The view from the rooms is amazing and everything about our stay was enjoyable. We would especially like to mention Sis, who was very friendly and offered us lots of useful advice.
Amazing balmoral lodge
Balmoral lodge was the best place we stayed on our travels touring New Zealand staff helpful and friendly opener was great sat with us one day and gave us a bottle of wine amazing place over looking queenstown great well kept gardens highly recommend this place for singles couples & family if we could give it 10 stars we would
Just what we hoped for
The Apartment was warm, modern, very clean and provided everything that we needed. The views from inside and the sitting area on the lawn outside were fantastic. All this and only 15 minutes walk to town, although a bit longer back up the hill - the price for the views?
Amazing views!
Had an amazing time staying here. Very clean and spacious setting with beautiful patio and garden areas and a million dollar view from my room out over Queenstown. Would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends!
More than expected. Love the location. Very comfortable.
Can’t recommend this stay enough. Beautiful, quiet, spotlessly clean, comfortable, picturesque views, close to all amenities, lovely, friendly helpful staff. You can’t do better than The Balmoral
Helpful staff.
Great view of the lake. Friendly and very helpful staff. The area is expensive and this is great value for the money.
*WARNING* This is not as advertised (Gorge Rd.)
Our stay was not at their main advertised property. It was at their other property, an apartment on Gorge Rd. It is not what you see in the description and pictures. It is a lone apartment in an industrial business park, that is above some businesses. It is NOT convenient to by walking. It has no central heat and makes use of multiple space heaters (some are very loud). It has no real security besides the standard door lock, so there is no dead bolt once you are inside, so anyone who has a key could enter the apartment during your stay. It would be nice to know you could lock yourself and your family in for the night and not worry about someone being able to come in. The apartment is on the 2nd floor and requires you to go up a set of very narrow stairs that are slippery when wet. there is not elevator, so we had to navigate 5 large suitcases up these stairs during the stay, as well down the stairs when we were leaving. Luckily we had a car. The "convenient 10 minute walk to town" would be more like 20+minutes. There is nothing to see from this apartment besides a parking lot and a busy road that you can hear all the cars driving by from the window next to the bed. It does NOT feel clean. It has appliances, but the microwave was dirty and stained, the freezer didn't freeze anything and literally stunk like fish. The bathroom sink is cracked, the shower head is less than 6ft high. The carpets are stained and dirty.
Outstanding!
Facilities and location were spot on...would definitely recommend this accommodation.
Nice hotel
Absolutely excellent wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Queenstown

Amazing views and comfortable room!
This place is a real gem. The views are amazing and the rooms are very comfortable. The owner is very welcoming and the breakfast he made us was a feast! I would highly recommend this BB to anyone who wants to stay at a romantic or just very welcoming and comfortable place in Queenstown.

I was NOT able to stay here due to health problems and the vertical climb to lodge. The property assured me I would get a refund, because they were able to rent unit that very same day. At this time i have NOT received the credit. Expedia was NOT available to assist with this issue
