The staff were all amazing. Great service and a nice place to stay
Checking in was a breeze. The food was excellent. The kids club was awesome my son enjoyed it . My room was clean daily. I have no complaints. I wish I was there longer .
Had to really watch food that it was cooked. Lettuce had insects in it. Staff to book a la cartes were rude and just annoyed to be there. A la cartes we’re not even open. We were supposed to get 5 but got 3 as we just couldn’t reserve any due to them being closed. Water shoes needed for waterslide due to rough edges. Fridge had no supplies when we checked in. No hand soap in room had to use it from the shower. Beach was nice. Large Pool well kept kids club was enjoyed. Seemed to be chairs in shade with no hassle to find one. At most this is a 3 star resort.
We had a spacious room with balcony that faced the pool and ocean as practically all rooms have a similar view. We enjoyed the large pools which were very clean and inviting. The grounds were meticulously manicured and hotel, restaurants and facilities were very clean. All restaurants including the large buffet were excellent with plenty of delicious food and drinks. All staff from all aspects of the hotel were very friendly and aim to please! We had an issue with a private pick up from hotel to airport and spoke with”Trishana” from courtesy desk and she sure went to bat for us to resolve the issue in a professional manner! We enjoyed our stay at Bahia Principe Grand Jaimaca very much!
Great staff, beautiful view, no complaints
Molded bathroom. Roaches in restaurant. Messy buffet presentation.
There was some maintance and service issues which i think was mainly due to the sheer size of the place. My family received above and beyond services from Ms Lucksher Hutchinson at the front desk and a few interactions with Ms Yanique Samuels with Privilege Club
Beautiful property with exceptional services. Will definitely stay there again!
The property and room were clean and comfortable. There may have been a shortage of wash cloth because we had to make several requests before they were delivered. A customer service worker, I believed her name is Johnise was very courteous and helpful in a very professional way. Overall, the facility was good, and we will be recommending it to others.
The staff are for the most part amazing. The hotel needs some work. It’s starting to slip and show it’s age
NA
Everyone was very nice. The rooms were very clean. A lot to do for adults and kids.
Wonderful property
This is our third stay at this resort. The property is magnificent, the rooms are spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed all five nights of entertainment and the a la carte restaurants. The pool is beautiful and well-cared for. The bars provided an excellent variety of beverages and the Jerk Centre serves excellent jerk chicken. Despite beautiful bathrooms with an excellent shower and double sinks there was very little hot water in both sinks and one of their drains was blocked. Three calls to Guest Services didn’t result in any repair. There were three messages on the telephone that we couldn’t access despite calling Guest Services. We were told many times to dial a number which always resulted in being routed to a phone tree that didn’t offer any way to get our messages. The excellent buffet was not as good as our two previous stays and many, many times we had to set our table from the other tables. The wait staff made many, many mistakes with our orders, in one case serving my wife my seafood soup to which she has a serious allergy (which we had recorded previously with our reservation). I can’t understand why staff wouldn’t preface serving food by stating what was being served (this is the seafood bisque for the lady?). There is also now is culture of tipping extended to the bar and the buffet. This is an expensive “all inclusive” 5 Star resort (and so we habitually only tip each day for room cleaning and for the a la carte restaurants).
Everything was great
Accessibility for elderly/disabled is difficult due to size
Service, staff and entertainment!!!
5 days, 2 adults 1 child. Our stay was fantastic, our room key was a constant issue however the room and view were amazing (#23707)
All inclusive meant all inclusive. Everything we needed was on the property. Staff were helpful and friendly.
The property was nice and all of the staff was very polite. But I can’t get past my last night there and my experience with the Hibachi restaurant. I counted four roaches crawling on the wall before we was going to eat dinner. A young lady killed 3 of them, but the issue was the I am assuming the cook that came out and I discuss with him that it was a roach crawling on the wall. He took a rag and attempt to hit the roach but didn’t kill him but made now effort to try to finish killing it so it just ran away. He took the same rag that he was attempting to kill the roach and ran some water on it and started wiping off the prep area off with it. Very unsanitary so and my girl just left. One other thing this reset doesn’t have room service either.
Hotel was probably 5 stars maybe 10 years ago , property is outdated , AC barely worked, the staff was not very friendly like they don’t like their jobs , only one good employee and that was Christopher at the pool bar , the property lacks maintenance like they just throw paint over anything and don’t even tape it off … restaurants you have to make reservations and aren’t many available even tho there are plenty of empty tables, lack of entertainment for the size of the property
My overall experience was pleasant and comfortable. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. My only negative experience was the main beach. There were rocks in the water and no warning of such. One gentleman guess heard me complain and asked that I include his fall in the rocks where he bruised his knees.
Just came back from a lovely week at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica with family. Great facilities, awesome beach, friendly staff, excellent all around. I strongly recommend this option for those looking for a caribbean experience. An opportunity for improvement is the food quality at the italian restaurant La Dolce Vita, where our meal appeared poorly cooked and tasted below average. This is minor, since the food at the buffett is beyond delicious.
I love this property and I always stay here. I just wish that the resorts would give the working people the opportunity to make more for themselves. They have so much passion for making things so nice while you are on vacation. ❤️
Manager and staff was amazing.we came for a funeral to put our grandma who was 97yrs old .family of 10 and we all enjoyed our stay
Bahia has gone from a 5 star to a one. The front desk is great at check in only and then they are willing to go above and beyond to make excuses for everything. Of all the amenities they list, nearly all of them were unavailable because of occupancy. They limit spraying for insects now so the property is overcrowded with sand flies and mosquitoes along with roaches and furniture bugs. If Expedia lets me post photos and videos then I have it all to share.
Everything about the property is good. They just need to update the rooms. and fix those elevators
The staff members were very friendly and helpful. The property is well kept and there’s a lot to do. The night shows are incredibly amazing. We felt safe the entire time at the resort and the rooms were comfortable and clean.
Although I love the Bahia I must say it has fallen off. It seems like every time I return there is less available. For example, multiple restaurants are closed making it impossible to get dinner reservations, we arrived on the 6th and the restaurants were booked until the 18th after we left. The bar in the middle of the beach was open for 1 day and then closed even though the beach was packed. We were told to move all the way down to the end of the beach where the permanent bar is but unfortunately at 1:00pm the tide has gone out and the beach is dry. We had to walk 10 minutes in either direction to the closest bar which is ridiculous. My final gripe is when they tried to charge me $15 usd per person to watch a show at the theater. I would understand maybe if it was an outsourced show like the cirque du Soleil but it is produced by the Bahia company. I have never been to an all-inclusive resort where they tried to charge me for entertainment during hours there should be a free show anyway. There doesn't seem like there is much to do after 10:00 if you don't like kareokee at the lobby bar. Now that I've said the bad let me give the good. The staff was always nice and super helpful, I almost felt bad when I had to tell them I had an issue. The grounds are always clean although they are beginning to show their age without major renovations. The food is always good at the buffet we definitely didn't leave hungry. Every night is a different theme so it changes.
Overall it was a good experience with the Bahia and staff. The property was nice and rooms were spacious. Parking was Ok as there is no designated Parking from what i could find. The restaurants were hard to gauge when they would be open, i don't know if that had something to do with the time of the year we visited. Had a problem with the Mosquitos in the room, i think they were coming in when the maid propped open the door to clean the room.
This was our second time on the property. They have been updating the rooms and the food was much better than in 2022.
Friendly workers. Nice and clean. Lovely beach front.
Most of the restaurants were closed. And there is no cafe bakery or coffee shop anywhere. The coffee is not good. There really isn’t a cocktail menu. Try getting a cocktail at the a la crate restaurants… not a chance. At the Japanese restaurant… no mai tai. Your choice was white wine red wine or red stripe. And if you started with Chardonnay and asked for another glass… you got whatever white was opened… so Sauvignon Blanc was mixed with your left over Chardonnay. There is no room service. There are better all inclusive out there.
Nice hotel
Review of Bahia Principe Hotel in Runaway Bay, Jamaica The outdoor spaces at this hotel are stunning, with beautiful landscaping and inviting pools that are perfect for relaxation. My room was well-kept and tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable retreat during my stay. However, I did find the staff's attentiveness lacking. It seems that guests are treated based on the color of their wristbands, with those who have paid a little less than the privilege or luxury members, receiving noticeably lower levels of service. This approach felt unfair, as it suggested that those on a general band budget were less deserving of quality care and attention because it was deemed they are less likely to tip as much. Overall, while the hotel has much to offer, I’m uncertain if I would return due to this experience. It's important for all guests to feel valued and respected, regardless of their spending level, and that was the only downside of my visit here.
Property was nice
Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, nice quiet very scenic beach with lots of birds. Only issue we had was that all restaurants except for the main buffet were closed, but it was not a super big deal. Food choices were good with lots of healthy options, good Jamaican food and the pasta station was really good! Also, I would have liked extra blankets in the room, as it was quite cold some nights!
The staff were really amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and attainable at all times during the day. There was plenty of entertainment going on and they were always trying to get people involved in their games. The luxury side was just as great, with live shows, karaoke and more! However, they need to fumigate and get rid of all the bugs and roaches I saw everywhere. It ruined a really pleasant visit.
Had an amazing stay here. Food is great! There is no trash cans but also i never saw trash around the property. The staff is constantly cleaning. I would definitely stay here again. Lots of fun activities and things to do.
I was very disappointed with not having a Canadian TV channel considering canadians made up a large percentage of your guests also the entertainment was ordinary..
Large property
The place was clean and safe.
The property was convenient, safe and quiet.
Clean, very friendly staff.
Poor
Everything was great, but since the hotel is 17 years. The rooms and hallways are old. We love the food and the service was good.
Beaches, snorkling, grounds
Terrible smell coming from The vents and sheets were stained and dirty. Front desk staff were very rude and not Accommodating at all. Would not recommend or return again.
Very disgusting set of people. When we arrived we were told they cannot find our reservation. They tried charging us 1000USD for one night sleep which i declined because i payed over 4000USD for our stay. I had my pregnant wife and my 3 kids with me and we werent offered anything to eat or somewhere to sit. We waited for hours until they finally offered us a room with mold,no towels and no soap. 7 hours later they gave us a pass which restrict us from basically going everywhere. I had to reach out to expedia and threatened to dispute the charges as well as going live on the internet to show everyone whats going on before they corrected the situation 2 days later. They also told expedia that we were basically lying as we were currently book in our rooms at the hotel. Never ever again. This is by far the worst hotel in jamaica. Dont book here.
I am just returning home from this property after a 6 day stay. I really tried my best to look past many things that were a disservice to a consumer. However some things were just down right wrong. We arrived at the hotel, our room smells like a basement with water damage. But the hotel you can tell back in the day must have been a beautifully run hotel. It is spacious not many people on top of one another. We took our infant on vacation with us to celebrate our honeymoon. The trip cost us approx. $5k. On day two we asked for new towels and we went two days with no towels or washcloths. We would call and housekeeping would say it will be on its way. 4hrs later we decided to just go to the pool instead of wasting the day we could spend with our daughter. So we never interacted with housekeeping for 4 out of 6 days. Employees like Dean, Decoda & Travis all were super helpful& so kind it made a lot of troubles melt away. I will say that when my daughter vomited and we needed the sheets swap out they came and did it. We ran out of bathroom soap (I’m not sure how does that happen if housekeeping is in that bathroom every 1-2 days). On the last day suddenly they magically appear and keep knocking on the door to see if all is fine and what’s needed. But at this point that’s quite annoying already. And on our last day we found a roach in our room. The hotel has a nice pool, balcony in our junior suite, water park for kids. But the old smell, rudeness & hefty prices is a hard NO
It was pretty good, but they limit you to only 2 a la carta restaurant reservation, most of the food in the Buffett was cold. Finally the main stairs to go down to the pool was always wet with big puddles of water no matter the time of day
I love the property and the staff!! Crazy legs and Thunda from entertainment made my stay for my birthday really enjoyable! I love how you have so many different food options to choose from and room service is always available. Definitely will be back!!!
If you are looking for a hotel in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, then this is it. Book it now! We spent one week at the Bahia Principe Grand and had a fantastic experience from beginning to end. When we arrived we checked in and were escorted to our room. We booked a junior suite with ocean-view. The concierge showed us the hotel and explained as we walked along. He showed us the room, view, safe etc. Very attentive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were fantastic and all well prepared. I have a food sensitivity and was given a card at check in. I showed the card at the buffet and the head chef came to see me and gave me a tour of the whole buffet. He explained every dish and what I could eat safely. Never had such a service before. We also ate at the Knife and at Mikado, which were also delicious. The hotel property is gorgeous, the pool well maintained, the beach clean and the staff everywhere nothing but friendly. The beach has some pebbles, so bring water shoes, which you will need if you go to Dunn’s River falls. Also bring snorkeling gear, as you can go snorkeling right of the resort beach. Great hotel trough and through! ENJOY
.
I had a awesome time
We came on a family vacation and enjoyed our stay. When you come here you remain on the property, except for the guided tours. The facility has a lot to offer, especially for families with children. The service at the al À la carte restaurants was very good, however, at the buffet, it was lacking. When you first walked in the waiters greeted you and served you your first beverage, but after that, they became scarce. Especially at breakfast, it was very hard to get a second cup of coffee. I recommend a coffee station, then guests could serve themselves coffee, tea, etc. At the bars, pools, beach, desk, rooms, etc., the service was very good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, I rate our stay as very good and I would recommend this resort.

This is a lovely resort, and we had a lovely holiday. We enjoyed the pool(s), the food, the beach, and our room/balcony. Unfortunately, I fell down the outdoor stairs from the main building (lobby). They become incredibly slippery when wet, often because wet swimmers come and go. There is anti-slip tape on the stairs and pool bridges, but it is old and needs to be replaced.
Overall the property was good. However, it’s showing its age.. especially in the rooms. Needs updating and overhaul in cleaning. Too huge to maneuver around, and not enough elevators. Certain staff were awesome. Entertainment was great every day!
They had great entertainment for the kids!
They were out of alot, and options were slim for mid days..
Love the wide choices of dining, friendly staff.
Nice resort but is was too big for us
Nice family hotel
I liked the staff. I did not like alcoholic drinks. They were too sweet and they did not have drinks that were on the menu. I also did not like that guests need to pay for show.
My favorite hotel
I had a wonderful time staying at the Grand Bahia Resort! The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, providing a perfect retreat after days filled with activities. The beaches were a true highlight—each one had its own unique vibe, making it fun to explore and enjoy different experiences. The resort offered plenty to do, from entertaining shows to various on-site activities that kept us engaged throughout our stay. For those with small children, it’s worth noting that drinking and parties tend to center around the pool area. Families might enjoy the water park and some of the quieter beach areas more, which offer a more relaxed atmosphere. Beyond the resort, the surrounding area is stunning, with many natural attractions to explore. A special bonus is that this parish holds deep cultural significance—it’s the birthplace and resting place of the legendary Bob Marley. Overall, it was a fantastic trip with a perfect blend of relaxation, entertainment, and exploration! Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable getaway.
This place beyond extended my expectations, and not just for the atmosphere but the staff. They went above and beyond to make our (partner and myself) stay enjoyable. They were very accommodating and hardworking. The property was well kept and the pool was clean day/night. 10/10 The food was good on most days, they had a Jamaican day which was my favorite as I enjoy that type of food the most. If you Visit then one of the best Buffy restaurants was Nyam; Chef Kevauhn Crooks made our experience even better by personally making a dish of spicy butter shrimp each night we visited. Just ask him to make you some and you won’t be disappointed. 10/10 We were a VIP guest which we had access to both the luxury and grand side of this resort. I must say I enjoyed the grand side the most for food, entertainment and hospitality. In my experience the luxury side catered to tourists more and I am one as this was my 1st time in Jamaica but my partner is not a tourist. Our room was beautiful and well stocked everyday. If you plan to travel off property then you should expect to be about 1 hr away from Ocho Rios and with traffic it could take 2 hours. Thank you Bahia for this beautiful experience you provided.
Great
The property as far as beach is beautiful, but the resort itself needs upkeep and maintenance immediately. We observed cracks in walls, mold in bathroom, malfunctioning elevators, standing water/drainage issues in room bathroom and on the property itself outdoors near pool. Elevators and hallways had musty awful smells from wet carpeting. We visited years prior and was great, but clearly there is limited upkeep. The beach area is beautiful and has great fish/snorkeling. But if you are a swimmer and want water deeper than your waist, go elsewhere. Food was very good and we loved the ala carte restaurants. But the ala cartes do fill up fast. We love Jamaica and will be back, but we will choose a different resort unless major renovations are done here,
Guests of the hotel were very noisy! Noise in the hallway every morning was very disturbing.
This resort offers exceptional amenities, including a welcoming and attentive staff, and a wide array of children's activities. My wife and I, along with our two toddlers, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this family-friendly destination.
As always, the staff was great but the property would be more to my liking if it had a coffee house where flavored coffee could be obtained
The resort was beautiful! Service and staff were great. Amoya went out of her way to make sure our birthday celebration was a memorable one, and made it special. The grounds were always so clean and taken care of. Everyone was genuinely a pleasure. We went with a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 teens, all agreed this was the best vacation! Thank you to all
It nice place to go restaurant the food staff is pretty cool most if the restaurants be booked the buffet is always open till a certain time but laundry service nobody came to pick up my clothes.
The property was beautiful . Food wasnt great, communication between staff for things needed was terrible. Staff was very friendly though.
The resort was very clean. Staff were polite and kind. I just wish they had more variety of West Indian food at the buffets. But i will Daphne go back soon.
Big swimming pool, beautiful beach and pretty good food.
I like the food and i didn't like some of the staff attitude when asking a question. I was my first time there, i celebrities my birthday honeymoon and anniversary in one, and i didn't like some part. But the was excellent
Property was nice, staff was nice, clean and spacious. Only "complaint" was some of the food could of been a little bit more seasoned. Other than that, its a 9.5/10. Would def stay here again.
Awesome definitely recommend second time there
Relaxing and eventful
Stat was lovely and family enjoyed 🌺
Room was directly over the entertainment stage. Hard to sleep.
I like everything
Good snd large facilities, food was ok considering its all invludive. There is nothing outdide of the hotel. We liked the pool and the beach.
I love the staff at this hotel I found them very professional and helpful when I stayed there in November however, the staff at the buffet was excellent!!! I wish I could remember the specific gentleman name but I was please and I will definitely stay here again great job Bahia Jamaica
The front desk staff was very unfriendly (rude) and not helpful at all. We received no information on the resort when we checked in and had to rely on an app for a map, dining hours, and general information. We were never told about the Village area for shopping nor were we informed about the entertainment. We were there a week but could only visit the restaurants 3 times...the rest of the time we had to go to the buffet which literally had the same bland food everyday and night. We had to seek out all information. We requested blankets several times and never received them. The air conditioning was stuck on high due to a broken thermostat that we requested numerous times to be fixed. After 4 days and many complaints we were moved to another room. It was nearly impossible to get items replaced from housekeeping. They would take the used bath towels and bath mat but not replace, even after calling multiple times and requesting the items. I have traveled to Jamaica many times and like to stay in different areas and check out different resorts and this is by far the worst I have ever been to. If you are looking for an affordable, great place in Jamaica for a vacation, do not stay here! I will be returning to Iberostar Rose Hall Beach for my visit next year. Iberostar has always been amazing!
Very safe, staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. I def will stay at Bahia resorts in the future!
We had a good time at Grand Bahia; my only complaint is the absence of completely plant-based options. Most of the food contained milk. Otherwise, the room was very nice, and there were lots of activities to engage in.
Check in took all of 10 mins although it was busy. The concierge was amazingly informative and I was in my room in no time. The person handling my bags escorted me to the room to make sure everything was in compliance and restated the hotel and aminities. It was a perfect start
Property is an old building and the room provided doesn’t have proper drain, shower door properly closed and room key doesn’t work and everytime need to go to front desk to reprogram. I requested for the room close to friends room they told us our room is upgraded but later found that my friends room got upgraded. Food is ok but drinks are terrible and with limited options. I will avoid the hotel at any cost
Most of the staff wasn’t friendly and the service was horrible, we have decide never to visit this chain.
Food could be better, wasn’t great. Service was good, and I just hope later in the future they update the furniture and fix up certain things. Other than that it was a nice vibe.
The food at Nyam was delicious, variety of items ans it waa all delicious. Even food for vegetarian and a large selection at that
The hotel itself was very nice, we booked through Expedia keep in mind it says all inclusive, but unfortunately you are not allowed to go to every restaurant but to choose only one base on how many days you are staying.
It was lovely
Had a good time
Way too many mosquitoes in the room. After we ran out of bug spray my daughter got 9 mosquitoes bites and she is allergic to insect bites. The house cleaning was loud and brawling in the morning. Every morning! Good thing I wasn’t a light sleeper. Good was good. Pool and beaches were awesome.
Great for young families looking to enjoy a beach, family pool and kids pool. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was outdated. Some key necessities were missing such as hand soap and facial tissues.
This was a 50th celebration. It was disappointing. 1. There was very limited places to eat and limited food options. The food was served cold. It was necessary to use the microwave to heat the room temperature food. 2. There were minimal amounts of activities and entertainment. Lady Avel and sit Donovan Danny did great when activities/games were going on. 3. There were no plates at the jerk spot by the pool. There was a long line of people on line waiting in plates. This occurred 3/5 days of my stay. The chef with the keloid cooks well but he’s angry. 4. The staff is appears to clean constantly but the property isn’t tidy. Mold and mildew in the tub jets, lime scale in the bathroom sink & tub handles, stained bedding and wash cloths. The fridge was not stocked daily. E just wanted water. No comforter placed in the bed. And 1 washcloth given for 2 guests daily. Finally, I was looking forward to authentic food choices, porridge, rice and pease, beef pattie. The buffet food was dried out and choices were meh. I made the best of my stay but I will think longgggg and hard before returning. This was a disappointing experience.

Excellent environment, staff and food options!
