Highly recommended
It was a fantastic experiences, very good and beautiful hotel with all facilities, the service was 5 stars
recommendable
well managed hotel. nicely furnished, super clean rooms with very comfortable bed and bedding. very friendly and attentive staff (kuuoko, quinn leigh, and tisha were particularly helpful). breakfast buffet is fantastic, but unfortunately, during my entire stay there was no dinner buffet offered. wifi in my room was strangely erratic (perhaps better in other rooms near to router). in the looby wifi is always very good.
Overall: Perfect location with excellent breakfast. Needs to improve: security at lobby.
Decent downtime hotel with a very unprofessional check-in.
Lively hotel in the center of Windhoek
Simple hotel for a nights stay. Inside is great and restaurant bar on the top floor is very nice and drinks were good. Outside of the building is a bit tired but that doesn’t matter really. We had a great stay.
To say they have a swimming pool they could be done under the trade descriptions act, it was like a large bath 3mtrs by 1/12 mtrs at most, a dipping pool. Nice views at sunset from the roof bar Terrible music playing loudly in the street from 0700 until 0200 19 hours.
I enjoyed my stay!
All the staff were lovely and provided exceptional service. From Sylvester at front desk to room service staff, you were all fantastic! Well done!
The lighting in the rooms was too dim. Could not see very well
We received the warmest and friendliest greeting from Gabriel and Tisha at reception after arriving from our exhausting overnight travels. Their smiles instantly boosted our energy. They both went out of their way to elevate our check-in experience and we are grateful for their genuine desire to help their guests feel happy. Keep up the excellent work. We will be back :)
The location was perfect to experience Windhoek and the modern facilities and friendly and helpful staff were appreciated on our first trip to an African country.
Great service
All staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived late and left early - the hotel helped to arrange morning transportation for us on short notice and everything went as arranged, even last minute.
The lifts were not working. This was a huge inconvenience. You fumigated. You fumigated the first floor yet it was clear the chemicals and smell would protrude throughout the hotel as it indeed did. You did this so as to save money from having to close at all. Koekoe was excellent in her service and very nice. The noise from outside was remarkably loud and overbearing.
This property is central to Windhoek; in fact when I put “Windhoek” into my Google maps, it ends up a block away from the hotel. The food on the roof is just a touch better than the fantastic view. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Every museum is within walking distance. The wifi works better than most places in Namibia and the room is temperature controlled. There is absolutely nothing negative to stare about my stay at this hotel.
AC didn’t work properly, and after pointing out several times they didn’t fix it
Check-in was easy. Transportation from the hotel was easy.
Very good location and facilities. Nice buffet for breakfast and dinner
We loved this place. Very modern hotel, great food and drink options.
Very good for business and holidays
Shower door was broken.
Friendly staff, a great roof bar, and convenient for walking Windhoek.
What I Liked was the staff's ability to compensate for my mishandled room reservation. I liked the staff and breakfast buffet very much. I liked the three dining restaurants within the hotel. I liked that the mall was connected to the hotel. I liked the convience and central location of the hotel as well. What I didn't like was that my hotel reservation from expedia for the Presidential Suite was not honored even though I reserved it four months prior to my stay. I also didn't like that every room had an issue such as door or phone not properly. I also didn't like having to keep requesting face towels for the room daily (even after the room clean).
Property is perfectly located in heart of the city, where businesses are located. Ideal for people watching yet very peaceful. There is a mall attached the to the hotel so there is a number of activities there. At night, the area is peacefully quiet, with a couple of social lounges area within walking distance.
Great central location
Convenient location
Convenient location. Friendly staff.
I stayed in the hotel many many years when it was call The Kalahari Sands Hotel, it was very nice then but a bit ancient. The outside shape is the same but the inside has been totally transfofmed into a modern chic hotel with lovely rooms and many facilities. My main praise is to all the wonderful, helpful, friendly, happy, staff who make the Avani real spacial. I will definately be back
Nothing Special
Was centrally located. Service was ok. Nothing to write home about.
Great place to stay.
Spacious rooms, clean everywhere, attentive and friendly staff.
A very nice hotel in the center of Wndhoek. My wife stayed at Avani in March and enjoyed it. Clean, friendly staff. Would stay there again if travel to Windhoek. Change some money into local currency for tips. If any Namibian currency remain, can change into US Dollars, Euro or other more popular currencies at the airport.
Great hotel; service could be improved
Great hotel but I was disappointed with service there and I am not a high maintenance guest. I filled in a survey before check in to 'speed it up' yet check in still took 15 minutes at a time when I was the sole guest checking in. The survey had also included a request about how I would like the mini bar to be stocked. That was completely ignored. I would normally expect, as a resident, to be able to put food and drinks on my room bill but instead at Avani I was asked to pay for a glass of wine at the door of my room, as well as dinner and breakfast before I could leave the restaurant which was a little unwelcoming. So I liked the hotel but was left a bit disappointed by the poor service which made me feel like I was untrustworthy.
Loved the accommodation, friendliness of staff, delicious breakfast and options, cleanliness of bedroom generally and bathroom specifically.
Great!
Property was close to things. Easy to get to the road to head to the airport. The cafe seemed to be the only place to eat. The top bar/cafe was not open
Very decent place. Area nice and clean. The pool area was nice very small pool. But the view was great
Very modern hotel with excellent staff and facilities in the center of town
The rooms are okay. The food was not. They didn’t have anything I wanted to order from the menu. “They we’re out of stock “ for most staffs. Annoying
Nice hotel at a good price
Fantastic stay!
The room was spacious; clean but TV reception was very poor. The restaurant decorum is dull and not bright; breakfast food in the pots not good... very cold. The Chef's uniform not presentable; One Chef serving many guests why?
Helpful staff
Fairly average large hotel. Clean an well located. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Windhoek stay.
Quality accomodation.
Nice hotel in the centre of Windhoek Walking distance to restaurants , shops !
Not a four Star Hotel
I chose the trip based upon the location, the swimming pool advertised and the additional perk of the NAD 200 food credit. The location was great and the bar service was lovely. After that - not so much. The food was just okay. There was no remote in my room -so I tried to call early enough in the time to get it fixed no one answered at reception for 30 minutes. When I did finally get help, the maintenance person noted the TV was not working because of missing cable. The maintenance person said they would return and if he couldn't find the cable would arrange for me to change rooms. So I stayed up waiting for an additional hour before I realized no cable was coming and at that point it was 10:30 pm and I had to be up at 6am. The pool facility was not really a pool. It is more of a soaking pool in middle of a bar deck where noone would really want to swim. As far as the credit hotels.com confirmed with them and then when it came to check out - there was no acknowledgement that they were going to honor the credit. I asked for specific things at check out when it came to providing the rate in USD - which they kept saying they just used the rate for the day. When I asked if they could do that- he said no. I just felt that while there are a lot of groups checking in on the property - because I was by myself I really wasn't a priority.
There has 3h without water in all the hotel, from 7pm to 10pm!! And any one know why and nobody could answer when water will come! It is incredible for a 5 star hotel
Treated like you're not welcome
Check in process slow, they couldn't find my reservation. Once found, more delays, and denial that my room included a 200 NAD food/beverage credit. Rooftop bar a locals only joint, it seems, as it took me forever to order a beer. Thought I'd use the credit for a room service breakfast but my order remained hung on the door when I opened it the next morning. In a rush to get to the airport, had a quick 200 NAD breakfast at the restaurant (The Pantry?) Breakfast was good but sitting in my cab, getting ready to leave, I was accosted by a front desk employee, accusing me of not paying my bill. Americans: stay at the Hilton!
Great stay!
Everything was great!
hospitable
great stay
Nice Hotel in Downtown Windhoek
We had a good time staying at the Avani Hotel right in Downtown Windhoek. The location is perfect for exploring restaurants and souvenir shops in Downtown Windhoek. Concierge service was very good, helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel has been recently renovated and has a fresh feel. The room was spacious and ad a good view of he city. However there was a stained section on the carpet that should be removed. The breakfast buffet was very good and had many options. The Sky Roof bar and restaurant were also really nice with a great view of the city skyline. The Sky roof pool is nice decoration while enjoying a meal or a drink but is not really convenient for swimming as it is too close to the bar. Overall, We had a great time staying in at the Avani in downtown Windhoek.
This hotel has friendly staff and a good location but that's where it ends - boring and limited breakfast, very limited facilities while the building is renovated. Looks like this will not be done any time soon.
Overall the rooms were clean, but the carpet was dirty and there was a weird smell in the room. Beds were clean and comfortable. Nice view of the city and very central. Food was good as well.
Avoid until construction is complete
I understand hotels need to be updated, but this was so under construction that it ruined the stay. We were awoken at 6am by the construction starting. We called the front desk and were told they were expecting a lot more calls. They did absolutely nothing about it. Got calls from every department head but never the manager on duty. Poor service at best.
renovations
This hotel was under renovations. no pool no restaurant. we booked 7 months ahead and added 2nd room 8 weeks before arrival No mention of renovation sand no 100% service facilities. Worst were the elevators. there were 3, one did not work, 1 was for work staff, 1 for the guests. We were on the 8th floor. and when ready to check out in the morning, we ( with luggage waited 30 minutes for an empty elevator to stop. All people were very upset.at last I went in with 1 suitcase and my husband waited for another 10 minutes. This was the worst start of our Namibia vacation. upon check in they could not find our reservation. it took 1 hr so long that they asked us to go park the car and come back to the reception as the car was in the way
Reasonable hotel a few members of staff let it dow
The hotel is well situated for business purposes. The pool was disappointing being surrounded by concrete on the roof, no services (drinks etc) available up there. Some of the domestic staff were very polite whereas others just walked in without even knocking. Reception staff were very good and polite as were the bar staff. Some of the waiting staff did not want to serve anyone. The hotel is undergoing extensive upgrades so lifts were a problem which is why they are being replaced.
A short stay but most enjoyable.
The staff are all so courteous, from the reception crew to the crew at the canteen, the guards in the hallway and the room stewards. The room was very neat and spring cleaned daily. A lot to see in the Avani building complex which hosts lots of business centres and yet felt safe and peaceful.
Excellent
Everythig was great: room, location, breakfast, staff
Great buffet options
I was there alone on business and so needed somewhere to look after me for the week. Breakfast and evening meal were buffet style with great options in evening from steak, stir fry, fish, plus stater and desert options. Convenient for city centre meetings.
SOUTH AFRICAN FLIGHT DELAY -UNABLE TO GET TO HOTEL
SOUTH AFRICAN AIRLINES was late and i missed my flight to WINDHOEK and could not nuse the reservation I hope i did not pay for a room I did not use because of SOUTH AFRICAN AIRLINES
Home away from home
very enjoyable
Good Breakfast!!
Okay didn't feel save at the hotel lobby and bar. The breakfast was wonderful
Will book with Avani again
The only problem was apparent overbooking which resulted in a threat to cancel our stay on arrival. I hope this was just a once-off confusion which will not occur again in future. We will book with Avani again next time we come to Windhoek and hope there will be no problems at check-in. Otherwise general standards of the hotel are high.
Staff were very generally very helpful but there were a couple of things that could be improved (no complimentary water in the room despite being told it was there, slow service at breakfast). Location is perfect and the views from the room were great.
Undoubtedly the best Hotel in Wondhoek
Been to Windhoek numerous times and never enjoyed my stay like this.
Centrally Located - ideal walking distances
Reception was efficient and friendly. Hotel meals and Bars, good food, and lovely staff. Casino was TOO loud and noisy for us. we enjoy casinos, hence the reason for staying there. But they were celebrating their 20th Anniversary, which brought in a lot of seat warmers!
Clean hotel and friendly staff.
Business trip. Convenient location. Nice linens. Over-priced. But nice.
Excellent condition but weird entrance.
Everything was wonderful. I would stay here again. My only complaint is that it is hard to get into, it is on top of a mall. You enter from the second floor. and you park for from the rear and have a long walk to the hotel from desk. Its a weird entrance.
staying at Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino
It is a great hotel in center of Windhoek, by the mall. Great location and access to many venues.
Nice hotel in the middle of the downtown.
I had an exellent stay.If you don't know how the outlets works then you have a problem. My advice to the managent is pls label the electric outlets for the instruction how to use them. My cellphone plug have blown up . The maintance person adviced me to turn off the plug before plug anything. Overall i had a comfort and pleasant stay. The staff are polite, customer service is exellent.
Very happy
Easy check in, polite staff, good breakfast, location near major shops
A very nice and comfortable hotel
We only stayed overnight at the Avani, and that wasn't to use their casino either, but they couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. Breakfast was very nice too, a full buffet with plenty to choose from. I would happily stay here again.
Best place in Windhoek
Quick overnight stop. A lovely visit. Great buffets.
Nice Establishment
Fantastic establishment, pity the WiFi was not working
Nice hotel
Pool was small and not heated so that was an issue as that was he reason we chose the hotel. Other than that it is a great hotel.
Possibly the best Hotel in Windhoek.
Very large comfortable room. Centrally placed in down town Windhoek. Good choices for breakfast. Would recommend it.
