Can’t beat the beautiful view of Zante town and the water!!! Staff very friendly and helpful! Quiet spot but convenient location to travel around island with a car. Bathrooms could use a renovation, mini fridge worked but door broken.
Would strongly recommend
Great view and very friendly staff
Needs a lot of t l c
The view was spectacular! Rooms are small, especially if you are traveling with large bags. Staff in lobby were very friendly, the van driver that took us into town, not so much. He was rather abrasive. We were only here 1 night as a stopping point before we could check in to our not stop.
This hotel was a great value for the price. Good location close to Zakynthos old town, easy to get to via car, and a suitable buffet breakfast. The view is also incredible overlooking the bay and the town. Property is older but has charm. Would stay again!
Receptionist was unbelievably rude, spoke badly about us unaware that we understand her. Did not respect 'Do Not Disturb' signs. Services included in reservation (included dinners, breakfasts, welcome drinks, water bottles, etc) needed to be specifically asked for and at times disputed. If you can stay anywhere else, do. We stayed here during OFF/ SLOW season so there is no excuse for the lack of service/ cleanliness.
The staff was amazing, such lovely people
I wasn’t overly impressed with this hotel. You get what you pay for. The photos and reviews definitely looked better than I expected. It’s fine if you’re just looking for a cheap place to sleep although the beds are pretty hard. Rooms can use updating. I was in a mountain view room which was actually a view of the parking lot.
Nice hotel. Room was spacious but dated. Buffet breakfast was average. Nice, large pool with lots of sunbeds and umbrellas.
Great location. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the sea. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. Very close to the city centre and they have a free shuttle to take you back and forth if you don’t have your own transportation. We had a later flight so we were able to stay by the beautiful pool and shower after we checked out. The property is very clean but room washrooms could use some updating.
It was amazing view, food, loaction etc. Management was kind and profesional and the cleaning team also good and kind
Quite mediocre, nothing but bare necessities and even those are nothing to write home about. My room had ants, shower curtain was made up of a weird material that kept sticking to me and was hardly effective - floor was soaked after each shower. There’s no option to ask the cleaning staff to “do not disturb”. Only beer option is Mythos for 5 euro?! Best part about my room was that the AC worked well and there is a fridge.
The staff was very pleasant! The shuttle was very convenient. They upgraded our room for free. We loved our stay at the Avalon Palace!
Beautiful property, pool, building, sitting areas. Impressive wood furniture collection. Needs TLC. Some renovation required, particularly with plumbing. New linens. Our sheet had cigarettes burns. Floors need to b.cleaned daily. Very dirty under bed.
The customer service was great!
my girlfriend and I had one of the suites with the private pools for 6 nights. easily one of the nicest hotel rooms i’ve ever stayed in and the view is absolutely amazing. honestly you could spend your whole vacation inside the suite and be totally satisfied. they offer free shuttle service to and from the beach and town area multiple times a day, the driver Stavros runs the streets of zakynthos, he was on time everyday for pickups and drop offs. the front desk man, John, was the most helpful and pleasant hotel worker i’ve ever encountered. like this man would run to the door to open it for us if he saw us coming from a distance. to address all the people in previous comments regarding the breakfast, it was buffet style plenty of options, eggs cooked multiple ways, fruit, bread, pastries, yogurt. not sure what more people expect from a free breakfast. dinner at the hotel is also very good, buffet style, $10 all you can eat traditional greek style food. no complaints whatsoever on the dinner. overall this is a superior hotel in zakynthos if you get the suite with private pool, 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Such an amazing place, the view it’s absolutely stunning, you can see all the movement from Zante. Very good breakfast and the staff from the receptionist to the barman are very nice. You have transfer from and yo the airport. The only thing which I would change would be the pool timingz I would let it open until later in the night.
We had a suite with an amazing view of Zante town & the Ionian Sea. Spacious room, good cleaning services. We liked walking into town in the am & browsing around. (15-20 min to get there)
Wonderful views from our room and good size room. The breakfast however is below average.
Beautiful views, Quiet area, away from the hustle of town
What an amazing view. Waking up to that everyday made the whole trip! It's a very basic hotel and comfortable enough. Pool area could do with some landscaping and beds were quite hard. Staff were helpful with any request. You do have to ask for a lot of things for your room which should usually just be there.
I recommend as good hotel
Everything was excellent!
Honeymoon at Avalon
The perfect hotel to spend our mini honeymoon. We booked a suite with a private swimming pool. We couldn't have asked for more!
Great short stay whilst island hopping
This was a great short stay during an island hoping trip. The hotel is well located for restaurants over looking Zante Town and for Zante town it's self. The communal areas were clean and not overly crowded and the rooms were very spacious. Staff were attentive and provided details service and information. Breakfast was very nice with a great view.
Booked a suite with a private pool and it was amazing. View is awesome and the suite is modern and elegant. We ate at the hotel once in the evening and the food was really good. Breakfast is typical European with meats and cheeses but also with a cooked option. All staff were polite and helpful at all times. Over all very impressed and will go back. Thank you Avalon.
Overall it was a pleasant stay, food in the restaurant wasn't very good and not much choice but still ok , we stayed in one of suites with a private pool which was just absolutely fantastic amazing views
The suite we stayed in was beautiful, beautiful all round views from wherever you are in the hotel. Unfortunately Some bits of our suite were broken, but mostly all was great
Do not stay here, there has been a bug going around the hotel since May and people have been getting very ill. This is not something going around the island but rather is isolated to this hotel. We were not warned of this upon arrival or may have taken further precautions like not eating or drinking anything after I got sick on day 2, spent all of day 3 in bed we only slept in the hotel spending all our time in Zante town or Tsilivi. Avoid this place, they need to shut down and sterilise the entire hotel. I know of over 50 people who have taken ill, google the article in the Sunday Mirror if you are dubious of this review.
Pros and cons Pros - The staff at the restaurant was great - They have shuttle to and from airport at no extra charge - they have free shuttles that run few times a day to beach and into town - they have excursions you can book onsite and also rent scooters - the views are amazing! - food is pretty similar everyday but good - they have all inclusive option - adults only resort - housekeeping was wonderful - very close to airport Cons - front staff not very welcoming (they failed to give me bracelet for all inclusive so first 2 days I paid for drinks) - pool hours are 10am - 6pm which I think is absurd, especially being adults only resort - bar is not by pool, but upstairs and pretty small - no toiletries provided (bring your own) - bedding not comfortable - not much entertainment All in all it’s nice place if you have a car. But because I didn’t feel very welcomed there I probably won’t go back.
The food was very bland and repetitive. The beds were uncomfortable. The staff was not the most receptive. Many things were missing that were supposed to be there from both a hospitality and amenity perspective
There was no amenities and I found some dust and hairs in the room and mold in bathroom.
We loved the beautiful views from pool and terrace. Infinity pool was lovely and staff serving the food and evening bar staff very friendly. On first impression room was adequate and plenty of space. On arrival we asked for some food and were told dinner had finished while we were checked in so we would have to go to local taverna if we wanted food. After 2 days we both contracted stomach bug and were ill as were many other guests. The hotel did not seem interested and it took lots of people to complain on mass to Jet2 rep before health and safety inspector was brought in. They were told to deep clean but we saw no evidence of this and our rooms, lifts, handrails etc were certainly not cleaned. Extra hand sanitizers were put up. In all our years travelling this was our worst holiday experience in terms of hotel food and cleanliness, we paid for all inclusive and were afraid to eat in the hotel for most of the week. We were even charged for bottled water when we were ill ! I have sent in a complaint to your company online earlier today and look forward to hearing from you soon , I feel we shouldn’t have been sold this holiday as this problem has been going on since may and nothing has been done . People are being put at risk and this is not acceptable.
You stay for the pool and the view, that’s about it
Amazing view, lovely staff and good hotel!
The location is perfect to be near the harbour/town and for the view! It’s lovely! Free airport shuttle too makes it convenient as well. Good variety of foods if you do this package too. Lovely pool, not to busy, and easy to book day trips from the reception! And the best bit overall was the staff, so lovely, warm and friendly, couldn’t fault the place! Great value for money!!
Lovely hotel with welcoming staff. Nice setting with stunning views. All areas of the hotel very clean.
Great hotel for location. Pool and overview exceptional. Room was fine although cleaners forgot to put down fresh towels and remove glasses/cups. Food was ok - salads, desserts and pasta were particularly nice. Sadly the rest was mediocre. Food was left exposed to flies and was rarely warm - please use covers and make less food! I dread to think the amount of food they were throwing away. We went all inclusive hoping to go into town a few evenings and as such we went out four times. It seemed many from the hotel did the same. The drinks package was poor - although they had branded alcohol we were always served with a cheaper and less tasty alternative. Staff were lovely and hard working however this hotel would benefit from some effective management and actually reviewing customer feedback which seems to be strikingly clear in identifying key ways to improve!
Good overall, but little niggles
Excellent view over Zakynthos town from hotel and good outdoor pool. Buffet meals were pretty good - especially the Greek dishes. Could take a while to get bar service as seemed short of staff. We appreciated the free bus service from/to airport, beach and town. Could walk to town during the day, but we thought it was too risky (no pavements at parts) to walk at night, which wax disappointing. Mattresses are very firm, so not to my personal liking. All included very ends at noon on last day, so you don't get lunch if you leave in the afternoon.
Nice hotel with amazing view. Staff is really helpful and courteous. Need improvement on the food menu. Major repeatation of food items. It was very very boring. If we were not on half board and the weather was better, may be we could have skipped every possible meal there.
Lovey working n clean hotel
Fantastic hotel - breathtaking views gorgeous pool plenty of sun beds with no early morning dash!! lovely restaurant for comfort n view Only negative was the food - buffet breakfast lovely but as for any thing cooked we had one of our half board evening meals - unfortunately not good - a real shame. (Opinion shared by most round the pool) No lunchtime or bar snacks available at all for non all inclusive guests. The hotel is a little remote so be prepared to get taxis’s everywhere which is easy enough and didn’t worry us Overall we had a really lovely stay here 😁
A very pleasant overnight stay
Spent just one night here en route to Kefallonia. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Had even offered to keep us a cold platter if our flight should be late and we would miss dinner. We were in time for the buffet which was good. Most buffets become monotonous after a while but our one visit was enjoyable. Wine waiter excellent...his recommendation was good and he is a great asset to the hotel. Thank you George. Not a beach hotel but they have a shuttle to a beach and to the town. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again if passing through.
Nice stay
The hotel was nice, located on a hill above Zakynthos' port with great views of the bay and port of Zakynthos. The food at the restaurant was good and the staff are polite and helpful. The only minus are the pool opening hours, 10:00-18:00, would have been nice to be able to enjoy longer...
Nice pool and plenty sun loungers. Would recommend using the provided scheduled (about 4 times a day) mini bus transfer into Zante town as the walk, although only about 20 mins is a bit treacherous, with lots of cars and not many pavements to walk on! Nice restaurant very near hotel as well as mini market for additional supplies. Head up to near the venetian castle for additional restaurant options. About a 15 min walk from hotel but less busy then the road into Zante town
Above our expectations. Well done avalon
Loved our stay from the staff that was friendly and caring. They offer shuttle service to town and beach. The food was excellent.
Stunning Views
Lovely hotel with great views over the Zante Town bay. Ideal for a proper rest and relax, nice and quiet. We were on all inclusive, usually I like to eat outside of the hotel but with the setting and choice of food we only actually ate 1 meal in Zante Town. The walk to Zante town is short but a bit precarious. However they do put on a free shuttle there so that’s an option.
I was ill during my stay. Staff were both sympathetic and very helpful. Wish I could have enjoyed their facilities more.
Friendly staff
Staff were courteous and friendly. Especially Bill, George and Veronica.
Lovely view , lovely swim up suite.
Upon arriving to Avalon hotel we were greeted by a lovely girl who gave us all the information we needed for our all inclusive holiday. After we were shown around hotel and the stunning view, we were then shown to our swim up room, which was breathtaking. Then the fun begain, as Honeymooners we were expecting a welcome note in the room , a bottle of wine or maybe petals on the bed . But surprise no! We were late arriving at the hotel for dinner so my husband had to go out to Reception and request something be done as this was so disappointing for us , we had only been married two days and choose Avalon for it’s view and beautiful new suite . We did get a bottle of wine and a platter of food delivered to our room, which was very nice but wished we had not had to moan . During our 1 week stay we never had another bottle of water in the room or neither shower gel , which in a suite you would expect this but we were told they do not do this . Take your own tea and coffee as this is limited too . There is no bar by the swimming pool you have to walk up the steps to the only bar in the hotel , there is no background music in the hotel either which to me is very odd. The food is edible but be aware there is a lot of pasta and a lot of the same food , oh and served chicken nuggets in a adult hotel. The staff are very nice but I think the mangement fail the hotel, I would suggest if you were to stay here, only do a room basis and the swim up room are beautiful.
We had a lovely time at Avalon Hotel, our room was facing the water so a view to wake up for every morning. The owner of the place was hands on from the reception area to everywhere. The staff from the bar to the breakfast area, the reception to the cleaning staff are all nice and accomodating. A friendly dog named Luna, will always welcome guests at the entrance area. :)
Pros: Nice hotel overall Lovely staff Free transfers to airport, Tsilivi beach and Zante town Beautiful views Clean rooms Free Wifi Cons: Food average at best House alcohol was poor Air con not working in room Pool not open for first two days we arrived
Excellent hotel for peaceful break
What went well... Staff are amazing, friendly & accommodating Hotel is spotless Rooms are a good size with good facilities We went for our honeymoon, straight after the wedding & it was perfect for a calm, quiet, relaxing get away. The hotel organised airport transfers, hire car, excursions all at the drop of a hat. Thomas (barman) & George (head waiter) were wonderful & couldn’t do more for us Even better if... these are minor points, that did not detract from the great time we had... the WiFi was a bit hit & miss (Fine if you want to switch off!) The food was under par (considering the rest of the spec of the hotel) it was palatable (we were all inclusive) but very same-y (it became a running joke amongst the guests) Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel & I would visit again. It’s out of the hustle & bustle of the town with superb views.
Hotel with a superb view.
First impressions lovely looking hotel as we approached. Reception staff very attentive and welcoming. We arrived at 10.30 am and our room was ready which was fabulous as we didn't expect it till 3pm. Room very clean and a view to die for. Originally had twin beds and requested a double reception staff said they would do their best. Housekeeping managed to accommodate this a couple of days later.we were very happy with this. All staff were lovely and would do anything to help.Food was always well presented and cooked well although a bit repetitive. Saying this we found something every time. Pork was particularly nice. Pity they put vinegar in the roasted potatoes and the cauliflower this put quite a few people off. Great minibus service to beach and town centre although we did often walk but it's not for the faint hearted as the road is very narrow with very little pavement and fast cars. Would definitely hire a scooter or car next time to see more of the island. Very very tranquil setting ideal for chilling out .Poolside very very quiet but we enjoyed this. Pool extremely cold!!! Maybe because it was October although it was in the high 20s. Would return to hotel when we needed to recharge our batteries.
Great sea view rooms
Infinity pool .terrace overlooking the bay ..seaveiew rooms are unbelievable
Lovely view nice area
We stayed in October when it was quieter but the location, fab views, all inclusive drinks and pool was great. The inclusive food was a bit repetitive but ok. Staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our stay which was good value.
Beautiful location
Avalon Hotel is a brilliant hotel for couples - really enjoyed stay and the sea view is just amazing - i would certainly recommend this hotel if you're looking for something quiet and peaceful ,so more suited for the over 30's . Hire a car or take the all inclusive option ! Hotel minibus which takes you to the town or beach and can be used for airport runs if booked in advance . The staff look after their guests and make you feel extremely welcome and are a credit to the hotel .
Nice hotel on a hill.
Lovely hotel and staff. Lovely setting high up on a hill with infinity pool. Food very is samey every night. More entertainment in evening needed and food labels to know what is available.
Amazing hotel with fantastic view
we loved the hotel it was fantastic! Great location, the hotel staff is extremely courteous and professional. We managed to have our room available at 8:00 in the morning even though check in wasn't for another 6 hours! And at the end of our stay they gave us a bottle of wine as a gift! Lovey people ! Totally recommend
Beautiful views, excellent staff.
Great hotel. A little isolated. Staff are excellent.
Great position but run down & disappointing. Food poor quality - did not eat dinner here.
Gorgeous location with the most unreal view.
We spent 5 days at this hotel and it was lovely. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. Its only a 7 minute drive to Tsilivi.
Dissapointing
The worst thing was the quality of the food, none of it was labelled or covered up so had flies walking over it. There is a forced dress code for dinner which seemed stupid for school dinner class of food. We and everyone we talked to travelled into town most nights for dinner (after paying for all inclusive or half board) after seeing what was in offer in the dining room. Apart from the food there's stray cats all over the outside areas, on a windy day a pool umbrella flew out of its stand and punctured down through a sunbed, which would have caused a bad injury. Paying for a double room just means 2 (uncomfy) singles pushed together. There's little in the way of entertainment, even after paying all inclusive you will need to travel about. I could go on with little problems we had, but long story short we wouldn't recommend.
Awful food
Bad points If you go to this hotel and think you are going to get a good standard of food you will be extremely disappointed.... food cold same lunch and dinner hardley any variation no greek food whatsoever covered in flies ...(if the food heaters are not on which in 1 week they was only on after I'd complained) Cats around on terrace while your eating Mini golf left to rot Avalon Bus driver rude (doesn't talk to anyone) Rooms with swimming not completed Long walk to harbour if you are not fit and active Good points Views beautiful Hotel spotlessly clean Most staff very pleasent 1 big exception
Adult only - really!
Adult only but don't expect to be treated like one, plastic cups, too many rules, trousers for dinner for men whilst women in skimpy shorts. Most snooty head waiter I've ever meet thinks he is better than everyone else almost sneers at you
Nice hotel with amazing view
Our experience with this hotel was a positive one. Very friendly staff, good food, good-size room with a small balcony with an amazing seaside-view. I would reccommend it to people that like to stay in a quiet, a bit isolated area. Personally I wouldn't choose it again as I found that I preffer to be closer to the fuss and all the action going on in a town center or in a beach proximity.
We have just returned from a ten day break at 'The Avalon', staying on an All Inclusive basis. We found this hotel ideal for a quiet holiday in the sun and was really excellent value. It is situated on a hill side with a superb view of the sea and Zante town from the Terrace, swimming pool and sea view rooms. The pool we found to be in good condition and big enough to accommodate those who wanted to swim with those who just wanted to chill in the shallow end. We found no problem getting sun beds which were quite comfortable. We enjoyed the buffet - salad was fresh and the food was always hot. The roast lamb, Greek sausage and casseroles dishes were especially tasty. Breakfast always had fresh fruit and Greek yogurt with a good selection of local breads. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned thoroughly each day - although not big the balcony was spacious enough for two people and it was nice on occasions just to sit there with a drink while the sun set. The staff were always so helpful and pleasant particularly Veronica (reception) , Veronica ( Bar) and George the Maitre D - they are a real credit to the Hotel.
Nice hotel
Nice and new hotel. About 20 mins walking to the city centre the hotel provide free bus transfer to city center and airport Good breakfast
Value for money
Service at Avalon was good, starting from prompt replies from front desk prior to arrival. I was pleasantly surprised that both front desk staff remembered us and our room number. Room was clean and there was a bottle of water that is appreciated by us. The condition of the room was a little rundown though. The inside of the wardrobe seemed a little unfinished as the base board was not fitted properly (you could see the pipes and concrete below). The soundproofing of the room was also lacklustre. There was a Greek night event going on when we arrived, and we could hear the loud music from our room though we were located on the 2nd level, in a corner far away from the main hall. Thankfully no kids were allowed at the hotel so we didn't have to wake up to screaming/crying/running kids.
Well organised and welcoming
From arrival to departure all the staff were very welcoming and informative. We requested that the hotel transport pick us up from the airport and Manolis (the driver) was there waiting, made our transit really easy. The minibus also ran regularly to the town and a nearby beach (Tsilvis), which was so convenient and of course saved us money. I would recommend upgrading to a sea view like we did, so much to see from the balcony. On departure we were given a complimentary bottle of wine, nice touch.
Needs more stars! Excellent!
As we leave Zakynthos we almost want to cry as it was the Avalon and it's hotel staff that made a place to call Home for our week stay. They went above and beyond, working like busy bees to make sure everyone was taken care of. From the bar tender remembering your name or offering a bottle of wine at the end of our stay to say thanks. Our room (311) had a breathtaking view and any where you sit on their outdoor patio or pool deck you will be in awe! Beds are on the harder side but we were lucky and had a cot which was delightful. Wasn't a deal breaker though. Once arrived we choose the all inclusive option and was not disappointed! Food was good and you can't beat the price for it! Luxurious cocktails and espresso machine would alone pay the upgraded price. A shuttle is available specific times of the day to take you down to the town of Zakynthos as well as Tsilivi Beach. Though if physically fit the walk up or down is a good way to work off some of that all inclusive food. The walk probably takes roughly 15min give or take but be far warned it's all up hill if walking back up from town. I would most definitely stay at the Avalon again, being On the outskirts Not in the middle of the town Has some real advantages. The birds chirping makes for a very tranquil environment. I would do anything to be back on a sun bed by the infinity pool. For any last minutes needs there is also a mini market a 5 min walk at most away. Grab yourself a ice cream bar or stock up on
Fabulous view
I really enjoyed this hotel although saying that we stayed for a week and not once was the food hot The shower was Luke warm But the staff were excellent
Fantastic view, amazing staff
Fantastic views and amazing staff at this hotel, they are ALL completely focussed on making sure you have a great holiday
Excellent hotel and very friendly staff.
Such a lovely welcoming hotel and excellent staff. Great all inclusive package except the food was a little disappointing
Clean and good hotel
Awesome experience At Avalon hotel, friendly and cheerful reception staff (Louanna) What ever we requested for, she will try her best to provide and always serve with a smile, good breakfast as well with lots of choices.
Friendly Scenic Family Run Hotel
Great choice of hotel if looking for relaxing stay. In scenic location. Hotel immaculately clean, tastefully decorated. All staff including resident caring Hotel owners hands on and friendly. Couldn't do more to please. Free transfers from Airport, Town and several tours also offered complimentary.
Great location and really friendly staff..
A lovely holiday at a great hotel with an amazing view over the Bay with staff who were friendly and helpful .. Food very good and lots of choice .. Overall a lovely experience.
The Avalon experience
We stayed at the Avalon for 6 days. Hotel was ok. Not much of an atmosphere at night though. Only entertainment in hotel is on Wed and sun nights. We were half board but only lunch option in hotel was the buffet. The food was very traditional. The views were amazing though so made up for everything else. Hotel is quiet which was nice.
Great Hotel
Great hotel with view overlooking bay. Staff was excellent. Facilities 1st class. Wonderful time.
Perfect Hotel to start our Honeymoon
The staff were very kind and accomodating, they decorated our bed with petals and hearts and gifted us a bottle of wine. We were very happy with the half board meals and the facilities were in good condition. Some outside areas are worn down but the main areas are lovely and I cannot rave enough about the beautiful view! We hired a car for part of our stay as the uphill walk was a bit to much in the peak of summer however down hill into town was fine. Very relaxing time and hope to return!
Dotty's recommendation
Only one night but a wonderful place for taking in amazing views of the Ionian Sea,cheap dining accompanied by a stunning band and welcoming staff.
Certainly very good value for money
Avalon Hotel is beautifully located at hilltop overlooking Zante town. In spite of the size of the hotel, the staff manages to see you and treat you as someone special. Mr George (Captain of the restaurant) and his staff take well care of the guests, and John the barman remembers each and everyones' name. The large pool and veranda overlooking the town are great retreats. Free transport to the town, beach and airport. Very good value for money
Beautiful Views, with some wonderful staff.
The hotel is on top of a hill overlooking Zakinthos town, the walk takes about 15 minutes into the centre although the hotel lays a free shuttle bus there several times a day as well as other areas. The views are breathtaking and the staff are wonderful with the rooms cleaned immaculately everyday. BUT, that's where it ends for us were afraid as the food was terribly average and there was no entertainment laid out. Which for an adult only hotel was a disappointment. No music was played by the pool-which after a couple of days becomes boring. Even our last night, we were shouted at by the security man and the barman for laughing in the bar area whilst playing cards-there were five of us and it was 11pm!!
Wow! What a view!
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. This is a great hotel with a commanding position and great views down across the harbour and town. The staff are absolutely superb - so friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is great, with plenty of choice - if a little limited on the main courses for vegetarians (who don't eat fish either). It's lovely by the pool and to sit on the terrace in the evening after dinner with a carafe or two of wine! My only recommendations would be to look at some more cupboard/drawer space in the bedrooms, as this is a little limited for two people, and to consider some softer mattresses, as mine was very hard indeed (and I like a firm mattress). Otherwise you can't fault the Avalon - and I would not hesitate to go back and recommend to others. Superb!
View is breathtaking! Hotel sits on a hill so the walk to the town is a long ways. Room is very clean but beds aren't very comfortable and ac doesn't work very well. But over all experience was good
Lovely hotel, fabulous location.
Staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived early in the morning and our rooms were ready for us. George kept the restaurant going and made sure you got the table of your choice. Alex did a great job with the drinks and remembered all our names and what we all drank.
hotel with the stunning view
Very nice hotel with the stunning view. The crew was fantastic and very friendly. The only thing we dislike about it was the Wifi signal, mostly unusable in the room, but ok on the swimming pool and the restaurant, and most of the sunbeds was broken, so only one position could be set. If not this I would give it 5.
Hard single beds
This is a standard hotel which has NO double/king beds on site. This was not clear when we booked. The hotel´s beds are poor, very hard and presented as single beds pushed together. The bathroom fittings are old and worn and require replacement. You cannot shower without flooding the bathroom. The food is average I would recommend going out for dinner as we had great food at the local restaurants which was very affordable. The hotel staff provide very good service here. With a few improvements this would be a great place to stay.
Pros: Lovely views over Zakynthos town, the sea and even more beautiful on full moon nights so a beautiful terrace to dine outside. Also very clean communal areas. The reception, bar and restaurant staff are excellent, very attentive and friendly. Live music from Zakynthos and Greece once or twice a week over dinner by a lovely team of musicians. Cons: The standard of the bathrooms needs improving. The beds are quite hard in my opinion but my fellow traveller had no complaints. In general the food needs improvement and more variety and it would be helpful to label each dish so guests know what to choose although the staff are always at hand to help. The hotel owners (family run) seem to take good care of their business and always hanging around at the hotel which is a good thing however they appear to be a little cold and unfriendly. It is ok that they want their staff to take the first line of interaction with their guests, however a little genuine smile and a warm greeting will certainly not go wasted.
Beautiful view and excellent hotel!
I spent there a week with my family and we had great time at this hotel. Location: on top of the hill just above Zakhyntos town. Less than 5 minute drive to restaurants, shops and public beach. The view from the hotel and the swimming pool is spectacular. Food: breakfast was good with decent variety of dishes. We had lunch and dinner in town so don't know how the hotel food was. Facilities: hotel is new and everything worked well. Good AC in rooms. Rooms have good size and are comfortable and clean, sea view room offer spectacular view from the balcony. Swimming pool is great - clean, good size and I already mentioned awesome view. One thing that could be improved - many sun beds are partially broken. Before we arrived one person from my group had to cancel and there was no problem with the cancellation. We really loved staying at this hotel and recommend it to everyone (without kids, as they are not allowed).
Only stayed one night but from moment I arrived I was treated like a special guest. Couldn't ask for more , except a plug that can removed from the bath (it got stuck !)
Hotel is new, clean, fabulous view
We spent 7 days in may 2015. Hotel is new, clean, fabulous view, excellent food (we had hb option). Personnel could not be more helpful, polite. Great greek hospitality every step you go. Excellent view from a balcony. Two times a day hotel bus to the Tsilivi beach (4km) which is nice, long, sandy. We fully recommend this hotel to everyone.
Stunning view and great hospitality
Overall great hotel, food could defo improve in variety/quality and availability that would make it almost a 5 star hotel . Awesome staff on every level and kind goodbye gift was very appreciated
Perfect view from pool Food not good.
Lovely and quiet
This is so far the only hotel that I have ever had the pleasure to stay at which deserves more than the three stars that it currently has The staff are wonderful, the location could not be better and thee fact that there are no screaming out-of-control children spoiling the peace and quiet make it enjoyable and so restful by the lovely pool area If you are thinking that this would suit you then please remember to take your headphones or earbud speakers as all of the guests prefer it that way and do not need or want a self-styled DJ inflicting their bad taste in music on the rest!
If you want peace - this is the place for you
A great hotel tucked away in to the mountain. For two people who wanted an all inclusive, no worries, someone else does everything, no kids peaceful holiday, this was great. Short taxi ride from the airport (about 13 euro) so no need to worry about transfers. Also, you will not regret paying a little extra for the stunning sea view, looking over the harbor. The best feature has to be the staff - warm and friendly throughout the stay. Food-wise - think local and homely, which the staff are rightly proud of. Fresh, with a good selection. Same can be said for the drinks too. The hotel was clean and well maintained, if not seeming new with perhaps a couple of loose ends to tie off. Good mix of people all staying there too. Plenty to do nearby, but not really within walking distance - the hotel really is peaceful and isolated. The hotel does run a minibus to the town and beach every day, where there is plenty to break up the peace and quite.
absolutly the best view of Zante
Super Hotel could even be one day a 5 star. Staff is great, always availble and ready to help. Food is very good not great but for a 3 star hotel - totally OK. The view from the site of the pool area is the best we had up to now. It was great to wake up and look out the window to such a view. It just is the best ! We hope to come back next year if they keep this level of pricing.
Avalon Hotel, Zakynthos Town
Welcome Ouzo drink. Friendly staff and owners - organized bike hire and the new bike and helmet were delivered to the hotel. Good size room and ensuite - shower head broke, but was replaced straight away. 2 chairs and table on balcony, good view over Zakynthos town and port. Free hotel mini bus to/from Zakynthos town. Also free transport to/from Tsilivi beach which is 10 minutes away. Long outdoor pool which was clean and refreshing, with Swallows and House Martins flying about. Plenty of sun beds. Large patio to sit out on in the sun/shade for breakfast etc. Good selection of food for breakfast and evening meal - I was half board so can not comment on lunch. Traditional Greek dancing on Tuesday nights, which was good. Airport only 10-15 minutes in a taxi. Will definitely stay here again, if I find myself in Zakynthos again.

Secured a room on short notice after original plans fell through and was happy with our stay. The pool and its view were wonderful. Breakfast was great and staff were kind. Decor was a bit outdated and the hotel is up a hill - otherwise, all good.
