Nice Onsen Hotel Except for One Thing
Greatly enjoyed this stay. Big resort up in the hills offering a great view of the city out the windows. The room was big and comfortable. For dinner, we ordered the special set dinner for two which was fantastic with great service. For breakfast, it was a buffet but great nonetheless. The onsens were spacious with multiple pools. The only negative, which was a big one, was the self laundry facilities. The four machines looked modern but they weren’t. Firstly, four machines for a hotel of this size is inadequate. Worse, the dryers didn’t dry. People had their clothes in there for an hour and they were still pretty wet. We ended up having to abandon ship after midnight and went to a local laundromat the next day. They need to upgrade these machines!
Such a beautiful hotel and onsen!
Beautiful onsen and clean, spacious and homely rooms! Thank you for a great stay.
Very good breakfast spread.
Huge place,but bit smelly room
Peaceful and Serene
Spacious and comfortable with great views.
Very comfortable and spacious room with great views. Excellent breakfast buffet in a sunny big room. Shuttle bus service is prompt and good to have as hotel is on edge of town. Onsen was lovely, with great views and several different ones to try aswell as a relaxation area.
very far from town. difficult to get even taxis. staff very inefficient , not very helpful , language problem even at front desk for a large hotel catering to international customers
Kind of old for the property
Great property & service
My family has stayed in this hotel 4 times over the years, and plan to stay there in the future. The Onsen is great, the food at the hotel is very nice. Shuttle service into town is on the hour. We always enjoy our time there. 😀
Great clean hotel with huge rooms and polite professional staff. Big free parking lot. Excellent stay great choice for Takayama.
The positive: Our double bed room was very large, was very quiet and had an outstanding view of the Japanese alps. The hotel facilities were clean and well maintained. The negative: Other than a very limited menu at the bar and a buffet breakfast, we were unable to eat at this hotel's restaurants. Inconveniently situated, it only offered a shuttle bus to the city center on an hourly basis. Communication in English was nearly impossible.
Excellent location and service. Shuttle bus is available and on time. Would stay again
Great onsen, amazing restaurants for breakfast and dinner. Other than that, you'll have to go into town which they privide a shuttle to and from. Great hotel.
The hotel itself is very nice and has a lot of cool features. Upon checkin an older man was extremely rude yelling at us. Also, it’s about a 30 minute walk from the bus station and it was very difficult getting from the bus station to the hotel at 11 in the morning. We had to hire our own taxi which took forever to get there. Also if you didn’t arrange the dining way ahead, you can’t eat at the resort and all the places in town close down around three or 4 o’clock in the afternoon!. The staff has a lot of “rules” which they aggressively enforce - not customer service friendly.
View is good, room is clean, a bit far from the town centre and public transport is not frequent
Their public bath was so relaxing n had nice view. The room was nice and big.
Room was spacious and clean. All atmosphere in hotel breathing by comfort. Bed was not too soft. But blanket makes loud sound when you turns in the bed. I wake up many times at night when my kid was rolling in the bed and blanket was creaking.
Rooms were big enough. Nice location and Onsen was beautiful to Enjoy the winter
Excellent
Great public bath area. Excellent views, and nice staff. I would definitely stay there again.
It was alright. Very expensive for my room, despite it being very old and run-down. The hotel was in a very poor state and reeked of cigarettes. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, to the point where it made it difficult to sleep on. The onsen was a nice experience and the staff were very friendly.
It’s a good hotel although it is little far from city center. It may not be convenient if you don’t have car. Service is good. Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast has limited choice.
The guest rooms were spacious. The location is about 5-10 mins drive from JR station. The breakfast restaurant was very large but the variety of food were limited for buffet breakfast.
Comfortable hotel in less than ideal location.some
This is a nice hotel, the rooms are very comfortable, breakfast is good. Location is far from the city center, but there is a free shuttle once an hour reaching the station in 15 min. Last departure back 0900 pm.There is a bar in the lobby that closes at 5 pm., and the last order at the restaurant is at 9 pm. There is no room service. So if you return to the hotel after 5 pm. you have nowhere to have a drink or coffee in the lobby and after 9 pm. you have to take a taxi to the city if you are hungry. They give 2 keys of the room and I lost 1. They charged me about 40 USD for it!! I told them that it costs almost nothing to duplicate it, and I was shown that in the little paper envelope they give the keys, it is written the fine you pay if you loose one. This is extremely upsetting. When checking in you receive dettailed explanations about everything, but this "small" dettail they omit to tell you. Anyhow, charging 40 USD for a lost key is something that is not done.
Spectacular hotel
We stayed at the hotel for two nights with our 3-year-old and we had an incredible stay. The staff were friendly and the room was spacious with a nice view of the snowy mountains. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and the outdoor hot springs were spectacular, with breathtaking views in winter. We also had dinner twice at hotel restaurants and we highly recommend the Japanese restaurant. The hotel is a bit further away from the station than other places, but there is parking as well as a shuttle bus available every hour and it's definitely worth it for the quiet atmosphere. We would love to go back!
In the morning, the smell of the forest was amazing.
Rooms are spacious and clean. Onsen is big and with different pools. It is not convenient if you don’t drive.
A wonderful hotel with exceptional service.
Spacious rooms with good access to city
Enjoyed the stay with great views and reliable schuttle service. Bar and restaurant services were expensive and below expectation.
Nice view good onsen
The hotel located on the mountain that have nice view of Takayama. Privateonsen is good for relax
Amazing
What an amazing hotel and location!!! I would love to come back here. The food, both breakfast and dinner was fabulous. Courteous staff, the view from the room was unbelievable. Large rooms, very clean and comfortable. I give it 5 stars
Quiet, Comfort
The surrounding is quiet and comfort. Facilities is well maintained. If you looking for a relax hotel, may be this hotel is right for you, but suggest visit by car as no shop nearby. Hotel offer regular transit to and from local train station The lower score on services is mainly due to two experience we have 1) we see a lot of trolley at the door but do not see any staff helping customer with their luggage on our three days visit. 2) we are disappointed the concierge desk cannot support English conversation response to query related to Shirakawa Village. We rely on online info, tourist booklet and we ask the Gas station for direction when we were in Shirakawa.
Takayama Views
A bit out of Takayama but good views and very convenient shuttle service from Rail station. Huge rooms. Very nice Onsen and good choice of restaurants
Nice hotel
Up in the mountains and very nice onsen. Clean and quiet.
Nice hotel with a fabulous view and hot spring
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. This hotel is located at the midst top of the mountain and has a fabulous view of the city. 10 minutes' ride from the station and the hotel has a bus shuttle for the guests. Really fabulous hot spring SPA (outdoor and can enjoy the view at the same time. 5 different pools each floor. 2 floors and each for male or female separately). Breakfast is also good and the staff is helpful. Highly recommended.
Disappointing for the price
We would highly recommend Takayama but this hotel made it by far the most expensive leg of our stay in Japan. The hotel is about a 15min shuttle bus ride away from the train station, this gave us a little less freedom than if it was closer to town. When we arrived I was surprised to see that it had an overpriced, large, gift shop in the lobby, a first in my experience for a hotel. The room was very large and had a good view over the town. It was clean and we had no problems with it. The breakfasts were included and were great, we had fresh fruit and pastries but there was a huge range of choices. Our main issue with this hotel came when we decided to have dinner in the hotel one night. The hotel seems to fairly unashamedly take advantage of its poor location and offers three hugely overpriced restaurants. We chose the one that they use for breakfast service because it seemed a little cheaper. As we got to the entrance one of the slightly strangely mannered restaurant managers (of which there seemed to be 3+) told us to 'wait there'. He then let a number of guests who arrived after us in, and eventually allowed us to sit at a table after 10mins. The food that arrived was one of our most expensive meals in Japan, and probably the poorest quality one that we had there. I can buy better sushi in Canada. These were also the cheapest items on their menu. Very disappointing for the price of the room. The cheaper hotels we stayed in were nicer and didn't charge us a 'bath tax!'
Great Retreat Onzen Hotel
Great indoor and outdoor onzen facilities for guests. Quite far from the city center but there is free shuttle to the train station frequently. Great room size for Japan Hotel.
very comfortable hotel
We went to Takayama to attend my nephew's wedding. The hotel was suggested by the bride's family and it was a very good option. It was clean and comfortable. The hotel was up on a hill and had a great view but a shuttle bus was available to passengers to go downtown. The actual walking was about 35 mins to the city, which was not bad. Food was tasty but limited. Lunch hours were short and options in between only limited to sweets. Breakfast was excellent. The only downside was the limited space to put your clothes. I was travelling with my two sons and there was a very small drawer dresser so we kept our clothes in the suitcases all the time. If you chose this hotel you must go to the hot spring bath. It was superb.
Top spot up the hill on the edge of town.
Unbelievable views, biggest room anywhere (we booked a "deluxe" - well worth it), nice people, shuttle bus to town, reasonably priced "casual" eating/drinking facility. What more can we say - it was great.
Excellent hotel
This is a most beautiful hotel I stayed in Japan. Facilities are wonderful. Room are lpspacious, unlike many other hotels in Japan. The hot spring bath overlook the magnificent snow capped mountains. Breakfast is delicious! Very pleased.
Beautiful hotel, onset with million dollar views.
Old style hotel with big traditional rooms with milliion dollar views of the Japanese Alps. The onsen has the same superb views, inside or outside bathing. Takayama old streets are beautiful and worth seeing.
This resort is about 10 minutes away from the train/bus station on a hill top with a great view of the city of Takayama. The free shuttle runs every 45 minutes. The resort is elegant and very clean. compare to some other hotels we stayed on this trip the size of the room we had is double of the others. There are 4 restaurants on site. There is an onsen also. Our room included breakfast and everyday we had wonderful Japanese/ western breakfast. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staffs are very polite though their English is not as good as the staffs in big city hotels.
great hotel!
Hotel staffs are great! Onsen (hot spring big bath) is wonderful!!!!
Second stay at hotel
We stayed at Hotel Associa Takayama last October 2014 and again in June 2015 when there were no conventions and less tourists. However, both times the service was excellent. The rooms are spacious and comfortable (although a bit dated but it didn't matter). The service was excellent. When I mentioned to the receptionist that we had an early train to Toyama at 7am, they had breakfast packs ready for us when we checked out (a variety of delicious pastries and apple juice). The shuttle times to and from the hotel are on time and reliable. As this was not a busy season we had the shuttle all to ourselves. The hotel is a 5 minute ride away from the town but the views from the room are lovely. The onsens are a must-try. Just be sure to read the rules beforehand to observe the proper customs. Don't forget to also bring your bath towel from the room. I would recommend this hotel and stay again if we return.
Perfect Hotel for a good price!
Love the hot spring, especially the outdoor one is like a dream comes truth~Room is clean and big, we have a 3 beds room, and my 5 yrs old nephew was so happy to get his own bed~ Very nice hot spring area arrangement, and the food is good too. I would give it a 5 stars and can't wait to visit it again.
Unprofessional staff ruins the beautiful onsen
We booked a triple room with 3 single beds (for 3 people, obviously). However when we got there, the hotel staff pointed out that booking was for 2 people, and we needed to pay more for the 3rd person to stay in.We tried to explain that we are paying for the room, which was for 3 people, and we shouldn't have to pay extra. We spoke to the manager too. However, both the hotel staff and the manager were unhelpful, and we heard the hotel staff telling the manager in Japanese that we were stupid ("baka") thinking that we didn't understand basic Japanese. After we agreed to pay for the extra person, the manager came back to show on hotels.com on how we can select the number of persons;to prove that he was right and show that it was our mistake. Even though it was possibly our mistake,I didn't like the way the hotel staff handled the situation, and felt that they were rude to us and unprofessional.I definitely will not stay back in this hotel in view of the above. poor service. When we got into the hotel room immediately after paying, the room was prepared for 3 people(3 beds, 3 towels etc);so even though we initially paid for 2 people according to the hotel, they already prepared the room for 3 people. Perhaps that hotel works differently from others, where you don't pay per room, but you pay per person. Other than that, the onsens were marvellous;and so was the breakfast buffet. But still not good enough for me to return to see the surly faces of the hotel staff.
Room was nice, good facilities, free shuttle bus to take you to and from the hotel, and very helpful staff. WiFi was sketchy at best, and the buffet dinner was average.
Deserves better rating... And a better picture
Went with family and was pleased. Food was good, staffs were friendly, view was great, rooms were clean. Only thing about it is its location, it's about 3 minutes driving from the main street. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are driving.
Highly Recommended
I had such a pleasant stay. The hotel is about 10-15 mins outside the city center. Most restaurants at the hotel are closed early (around 8~9 P.M.), except one at the 6th floor next to onsen. So, we decided to have dinner at the Sennen no Utage (just across the street from Takayama station) and took a taxi back to the hotel (paid around ¥1,3xx for the fare). The onsens at the hotel are very nice; highly recommended. They are open until midnight while in the morning they are closed at 10 A.M. Hotel staff can speak English very well.
Great place to visit and stay
The Associa Resort is set high on a hill above Takayama and offers impressive views over the valley and to the mountains beyond. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable, have free WiFi and are clean and in good order. We stayed for two nights in January 2015 and would recommend this hotel to couples and families. There are three restaurants in the hotel complex - we at at the Japanese Restaurant on the sixth floor and enjoyed our meals. The hotel also has a good spa and offers an "onsen style" experience with its baths which are entered from the sixth floor. A shuttle bus runs between the hotel and Takayama station on an hourly basis.
Amazing resort
We had the most amazing stay at Associa Takayama and would highly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone. Points to note - very large rooms, possibly the largest I've seen in Japan; there are convenient hourly shuttle buses to and from Takayama JR station (timed in conjunction with trains); the public baths are amazing and must be tried (nothing like watching the sun rise over Takayama with snow falling on your face); the breakfast buffet and Japanese restaurant (on spa wing side) were delicious and very enjoyable. You should also take the trip to Hida no Sato.
A very comfortable and spacious hotel in Takayama
Lovely hotel overlooking Takayama. The shuttle bus into and out of town works really well. The rooms are really large and were great for our family of five. The only issue was the beds are too hard. Buffet breakfast was lovely and beautifully set up. Rooms were very quiet and had a lovely view
Beautiful hotel area up in the snowy location.
Beautiful hotel area up in the snowy location. Snowing through out our stay, just a wonderful place to stay. Will recommend if anyone want to feel snowy Xmas.
Nice resort with large onsen facilities
Hotel is about 8mins drive away from train station, and you need to use their shuttle as walking is too far and taxi is a little pricey for that short distance. Room is clean and very big and their onsen is open air overlooking the surroundings and they have 4 separate pools and jacuzzi areas.
Good Value Stay
Though not the newest hotel in Takayama, it is really a well maintained property and has large rooms. Saw a number of tour coaches parked upfront, but the sheer size of the property meant that it was still quiet and comfortable. They manage the shuttle to town very nicely, and the moment it gets overcrowded, they despatch another. Do your shopping in town though because there are no shops in the vicinity of the hotel.
Nice old world hotel with a fantastic views
The hotel has a terrific view of the snow capped mountains & is worth it for that. The staff were helpful & we had no issues. The hotel is a little out of town & the bus timetable can be a bit limiting however we elected to catch a taxi home at Y1200 and it suited us fine. Rooms are very big & clean.
Nice hotel, good shuttle service
Breakfast very good. Rooms good too. Takayama is an interesting town. Very Japanese experience short of a ryocan.
Good Resort Hotel
The free shuttle picked us up at the JR station; it ran once per hour all day for visits to and from downtown. The hotel is about 2 Km from the city center. The deluxe room was big and clean. The spa baths were hot and relaxing. Restaurant menus ran from inexpensive up to the high end, something to suite every appetite. The included breakfast was very adequate and good tasting, but not luxurious. The view from our 9th floor room of the nearby hills and the town were really nice. The fall colors were beautiful. Take advantage of the free 2 hour guided tour of the old town from the tourist information office with one day advance reservation. The walking course through several Temples and Shrines was also interesting. If you go to Takayama, this is a good place to stay.
Enjoyable stay
Hotel is out of town a little ways but they run a complimetary shuttle to & from the JR station. We arrived before check in time but were able to leave our cases at a cafe just outside the train station & our bags were delivered to the hotel beforehand - an excellent arrangement! The lobby & restaurants are very impressive & breakfast was a varied & well-stocked buffet selection. The rooms are very large by Japanese standards & pleasantly-appointed. Service very professional - the shuttle drivers, reception staff, everyone. Very clean & comfortable.
Modern hotel in rural setting
The hotel provides modern Western style comfort combined with traditional Japanese service and facilities. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with a nice view. The staff were courteous and helpful. This place is a good base to explore rural Japan. The hotel shuttle bus provides hourly rides to Takayama train station which is next to the Nohi bus station. From the station, it is a short walk to the old town of Takayama where there is a lot of attractions. It is also very convenient to go by bus to visit the surrounding villages and sights such as Shiragawa-go, Kamikochi and Shinhotaka.
onsen relief
lovely onsen. restaurant service very slow though.
Very good hotel
Spacious, comfortable double room, great view of mountains and valley; spa baths were excellent, staff was courteous, clean nice rooms. good shuttle to town every hour. Our room did not have a double bed that was the only negative thing about it. This is a top hotel.
Comfortable Clean & Nice View
The triple room is extraordinarily spacious, with a view overlooking the city. It is very clean, everything looks new probably it has just been refurbished. The onsens are very good, clean, with city view as well. It's really relaxing and enjoyable. The public areas are also clean and spacious. The breakfast is full of varieties while the restaurant is nicely decorated. We loved the stay very much.
Relaxing stay
Nice clean and enjoyable hotel. Helpful and polite staff. Onsen has a decent number of pool selections. Location is 5 mins drive from Takayama city.
Lovely Onsen experience
Big rooms with a gorgeous view over the town and out to the mountains. Gorgeous Onsen facilities. The food at the hotel is not great and the shuttle is not coordinated with the train. Because of this I was prepared to be critical, but the hotel itself is so lovely and the onsen is such a fabulous experience I got over my surprise at the strangely inconvenient lack of that service.
Internet barely worked
All good except for hopeless internet. Wireless barely worked in room or lobby Staff aware of problem but no solution offered No cable option To make things worse they charged to use the one computer in lobby area !
Enjoyable stay
We had a lovely stay in Takayama. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It was about 10 minutes away from the station and they had a shuttle bus that ran every hour. It was a bit hard to time it coming back and we just missed it one night so had to take a taxi but it only cost about $12. The hotel was elegant in an old fashioned way. The staff were generally very friendly and tried to help in every way but they didn't speak much English. We stayed in a deluxe room which was very large and had a pleasant view. The only criticism would be that the bed was a bit hard. The onsen was lovely with all amenities and the breakfast was good although the restaurant room was uncomfortably hot one morning. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night. The food was nice but it was very expensive and we left a bit hungry. I also felt the staff in that restaurant weren't as friendly as the staff in the rest of the hotel. Overall it was a lovely hotel and I would recommend it.
Great place to wind down after the crowds in Tokyo
Rooms are spacious and ours was a corner with amazing views. We ate at 2 restaurants there and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Breakfast was buffet and my only complaint is that we couldn't ever get a window table...seemed to be kept for bus tours. Best part was the onsen with both floors having a fantastic view down the valley. I would come here again to relax. Such a contrast to the hustle and bustle everywhere else.
Nice hotspring baths (onsen)
Relaxing in a very nice town.
fabulous
The hotel is great. Don't be put off by the location. The free hotel shuttle service is great. The onsen in the hotel are superb. The hotel has a nice Japanese tapas style restaurant and some more exclusive ones. All are very good. The views are great.
Reasonably priced nice resort
Very big room for a family for four (including two bigger kids). The hot spring facilities are good and free of charge. Hotel staff are helpful. Considering the good facilities and spacious room, the room rate is very reasonable.
It was a very pleasand stay
Although a bit far from the station and the main atraction, It was a very nice and would go back to stay longer at least 02 to 03 nights.
An exceptional hotel.
The hotel accommodations were very nice.
Fabulous stay
The hotel advertises itself as "feminine" and that it was- from the soft furnishings in the room to the fragrant body wash. The room and bathroom were big. Though the hotel is not within walking distance to the city centre the shuttle service was very regular. The last trip from the city centre was at 9.15pm but that didn't bother us as there wasn't much we wanted to do in the city after 9pm. The best part is that the drop off and pick up points are outside the bus and train stations so it was very convenient to catch a bus to visit places like shirakawa go, etc. The same goes for when we got in from Tokyo by train and when we left Kyoto.
Great Town Great Hotel
A terrific hotel. Large room with majestic views. Staff excellent. Shuttle bus into town ran precisely on time. We ate out of the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Check in check out speedy, friendly & professional. Great free breakfast which we gobbled up. Highly recommended.
Good view hotel and Comfortable hotel
Nice onsen with good view
Nice venue full of promise
Wonderfull idea taking luggage up from the railway station, just spoiled by the last shuttle being at eight thirty and the hotel not willing to supply any food after nine pm. Incomprehensible that a hotel cannot supply guests any food after nine pm and on eating in town it was almost not possible to get back to the hotel after eight thirty
spacious rm.
Enjoy our stay. The only let down is the wifi. Told to go near the rm window to get better connection. But failed miserably
Fair
Nice facilities. Clean room. Slightly outdated. Ac did not work.
Was not worth it. The hotel is far from the city center . Very expensive restaurants of average quality. The breakfast was of very poor quality and costs 24$ approx.
Overall is good. The room is very big, but the bed is not as comfortable as others hotels we stayed.
Fantastic service!
fantastic service and facilities! love the spacious 3 bed room! although the location is a little far from the train station. but the frequent bus shuttle service more than make up for the inconvenience. will definitely stay again if am going back to takayama!
Good breakfast with Japanese and western spread .spacious room
Must be great in ski season.
Hotel is immaculate! Wonderful service. Only drawback is the distance to town. Bus shuttle is exceptional. Schedules are maintained to the minute. Hotel is located in very quiet, rural area. Beautiful spa. Hotel entertains many tour groups, but you seldom know they are there.
Breakfast buffet was delicious
From the moment we stepped on the free shuttle bus to our one nite stay everyone treated us very nice. Since we came for the Takeyama Festival and the parade was cancelled the first day the hotel provided umbrellas for our walk about the town. They collected the umbrellas when we returned to the hotel. The nice service that was provided was they stored and put our luggage in our rooms when it was ready so we could go our merry way to enjoy our tour of Takeyama. We wish we could have stayed longer but we had more cities to venture to.
Great hotel, convenient shuttle, bad smoke smell
The Associa hotel in Takayama is an exceptional place to stay. Although it is not in town, the hotel shuttle to/from the train and bus station is convenient and frequent. The onsen spas available at the hotel are very relaxing. The breakfast buffet has both Japanese and Western offerings -- for Western appetites, it will certainly satisfy. The room was extremely spacious, and had all the necessary amenities. The only (major) complaint about the hotel was a strong cigarette smoke smell in the hallways and elevator area, even though we were on a non-smoking floor. Overall: a strong recommendation for a relaxing stay in Takayama.
Comfy very large room to a very high standard.
Although there is a free shuttle service to & from town, which worked well during the day ~ there are limitations at other times & there is nothing nearby to the hotel to mitigate this. The meals in the restaurants advertised were EXTREMELY expensive. Luckily, we tracked down a cheaper traditional Japanese restaurant on the 6th floor ~ which was not advertised but was very good & reasonably priced. The Onsen was very good but all residents, whether or not you use the Onsen, have to pay a 'Bath Charge' of 150 Yen ~ per person ~ not advertised either!
Comfortable hotel
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The breakfast food had a good variety and the Japanese restaurant's lunch and dinner were excellent. The twin room and bathroom were large for Japanese standard hotels. The boys had good experience with the "onsen".
Hotel associa Takayama
Great selection of onsen pools. Location is far away from city and baggage stowaway is an issue. Hotels cafe at the train station refused to assist with storing our luggage although we just checked out. We had to pay 500 yen per bag to store the luggage at the bus terminal for an hour while we checked out the morning market while waiting for our train.
Dated design.
Furniture and linens very dated.
Staff with a serious attitude
Travelled all over the world. Stayed in hundreds of hotels. The Associa Takayama would be one of the least friendly establishments Ive stayed in. The staff think they are someone. Unless you are dressed in your designer gear they don't want to know you. Next hotel 5star in Osaka so welcoming.
Associa
The hotel is located around the hill top where we are able to see the alps from our room. We stayed in standard twin room for 2 nights. The room is spacious given the space constraints in Japan. Free shuttle bus is available to the train station and free entry to onsen in the hotel. Would be good if the hotel can offer more TV cable channels in the room as we see many foreigner guests from USA and Taiwan
Great location
The view of city and mountains are very beautiful.
Most amazing hotel onsen (Japanese bath) ever!
Excellent hotel. Rooms were large for Japan. Nice view of the city. Fantastic onsen! A bit out of town from the train station, but there is an hourly shuttle.
Great resort in the Japanese Alps
This is a very comfortable hotel. The room was as large as one you would expect to find in Canada and had all the amenities. Some of the fixtures are a bit dated in the room and throughout the hotel, but everything is very comfortable. The onsen is great and the buffet breakfast that came with my room price was also very good. I asked for a quiet room and was given a room at the end of the floor away from the elevators, although the hotel generally seems very quiet throughout. The shuttle bus from the train station to the hotel is also frequent enough and worked well for me connecting with my train leaving Takayama and a bus tour. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and met some other nice guests at the hotel.
Relaxing hotel near Takayama
This is a 'spa hotel' with hot spring baths as a focus but it is equally convenient for people who are not interested in this and simply want somewhere pleasant to stay. Although it is outside the town, there is a free bus service which shuttles between the hotel and the railway station fairly frequently. The bus takes about 10 minutes and leaves passengers about 10 minutes' walk from the old centre. The hotel's location makes it convenient for walking in the hills near the town, where there are various things to see. The hotel is big but service is good, without being intrusive. The food is no worse than that of most Japanese hotels and the bus service makes it easy to eat in the town.
