Lovely little hotel

The bathrooms need renovating but other than that, good location, big rooms, friendly staff. Good breakfast and great stay. Bathrooms decent but could do with some renovating.

We stayed for three days in January. The hotel staff were all excellent and helpful, especially Nayim. We felt safe and easily walkable to all the main attractions in Colaba . Wonderfully quiet away from Mumbai's hustle and bustle but shops, and restaurants nearby.

Average Hotel

The hotel is well situated, and has very gun potential but it is average.The 1st thing they can do is improve on the cleanliness. The workers always look untidy and sweaty. The do not provide any bathroom accessories, not even a shower cap, i thought it was standard on all 3 star hotels.

Well located hotel

This is a well located hotel near the taj hotel. The rooms are quite large and the breakfast was off a menu. Bathroom was very big too. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Great breakfast in the morning; service at breakfast was wonderful. Front desk service could have been better. We didn't receive a wifi code until 30 minutes after check in as the "computer was resetting"? Also, when we asked for more hangers, they returned saying they couldn't find anymore.

Loved our room

We had a beautiful room on the top floor with a king size bed and fantastic shower. The a/c was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. breakfast was excellent. This hotel is very close to a major street in Colaba that allows easy access to restaurants and sights. Be aware that there’s a lot of street noise but that’s probably unavoidable in this section of Mumbai.

The Ascot Hotel is a lovely place to rest and relax amidst the Colaba chaos! The rooms are spacious and quiet, the prepared coffee is excellent, breakfast is plentiful, and the staff is truly superb. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a mid-range place in Mumbai's Colaba area.

Our experience with the Ascot Hotel was awful. This is our story. We are a senior professional couple from Toronto Canada. We booked several months ahead. A week before arriving, we sent an email requesting their Airport shuttle service, which is advertised by the hotel, by kindly requesting, just to be sure, a confirmation reply. No reply was received. Two days before our arrival, we were notified by our tourist agency that Air India had cancelled our flight from Varanasi to Mumbai. Once again we notified the Ascot Hotel of the change of flight and requested their Airport Shuttle Service with the new airline, flight number and arrival time. Once again, we received no confirmation. At our arrival, no Ascot Hotel shuttle service was there. We arranged our own transportation and, once arrived at The Ascot Hotel, we were informed that there was no room available for us. They suggested another hotel for us for a night. They would have a room for us for the remaining 4 nights. Luckily enough, we still had our taxi on the premises. The only positive service: one of their staff came with us to the other hotel with our cab. The other hotel was of lower category and considerably cheaper. The following day we refused to return to the Ascot. We remained at the new hotel because the staff was very friendly although the facilities were “challenging”. Conclusion: no one wants to be stranded late in the night in a foreign city... never mind in a challenging city like Mumbai.

Excellent hotel

Best part of this hotel is the staff. They go out of their way to make your stay good. Extremely helpful & pleasant. Comfortable room & bed. Good breakfast. Close to waterfront, India gate, shops & restaurants.

Cozy hotel

I have stayed at this hotel before and love it. This time though, I am not sure if the bed sheets were clean and changed, there were no towels in the room, and the trash can had trash from a previous occupant. The Internet was also patchy which was a real bone of contention. That being said, maybe this was a one off, as otherwise I really enjoy the hotel and would recommend it.

Ascot Hotel Remains A Favourite

Our 3rd stay at the Ascot. Always very friendly service. Rooms are large and in good repair. Marble on floor is nice in hot weather. Great location. Will return to the Ascot Hotel. Good value. Highly recommend. Met friendly owner.

Easy access to shopping and sightseeing such as Gateway to India and Taj Mahal hotel.

Hidden gem.

Very pleasant staff and great location!

The room I was given initially was not great - it was in pretty shabby condition and was not very clean (except for the linens, which were spotless). I arrived very, very late and so was content to sleep there for one night, with the intent of finding another hotel the next day. However, when I explained my concerns to the staff in the morning, they moved me to a much nicer - and cleaner - room. I wouldn't say the new room was spectacular, but it was clean and came with simple amenities like soap and hand towels (no washcloths). The daily paper was a nice touch, and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location as well - very close to the Taj Palace (go for high tea!) and the Gateway to India, and immediately proximal to the Colaba street market. Ubers are plentiful in the area, so it was easy to get around to other areas of the city as well.

Amazing Stay at Ascot Hotel Mumbai

The Staff at Reception were amazing. Especially the Gentleman on Night Duty. Very Very Helpful. Breakfast Continental. Should include Indian Breakfast on some days. Unfortunately the Guests across my Room 206 were extremely noisy day and night. Lots of people staying in that Room .Overall Amazing Stay

Ridiculous

Had done the booking through Expedia , when I showed up at the property they had forgotten to book the room for me. Had to look for other options as the hotel could not accommodate me.

The service was very good. Everyone was helpful and accommodating. I was very happy with the location. My room was big, comfortable and quiet. This is a great place to stay.

Wonderful hotel

I recommend this wonderful hotel to all travellers. Everything was perfect: the staff are fantastic and very helpful. The hotel location is also perfect for a tourist: walking distance to many things and a great vibrant buzz of activity and restaurants and shops and bars. Great fun!

The restaurant and room were clean, but it certainly needs refurbish and upgrade.

Nice Hotel, walking distance to everything

We ha a very pleasant stay at this hotel everything you needed was there, comfortable bed,clean room,air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities,Bottle water, large room with sitting area, shower had hot water even had a bathtub. Reception staff were very helpful thank you Jackson. Walking distance to Gateway of India, Marine Drive and good Restaurants. We would stay here again if given the chance. We also had our washing done it was delivered back to our hotel early the next morning. If anything there was no shampoo in the bathroom but that is the only thing that I could say about this hotel.

Spectacular small hotel with everything done right

The hotel was fantastic in every way. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety considering this is a small establishment of only 18 rooms. Our room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The only minor issue is the location, as it is not reachable by foot and there was construction all around it.

Excellent Hotel, Incompetent Staff

The hotel is in a great location, and in fairly good condition, a little more attention should be paid to detail like cleanliness, the appearance of the staff especially the kitchen. The front desk is the most incompetent, it takes them about 15 minutes to answers the phone, and about 30 minutes to respond to your request. The front desk manager was having screaming fight with a guest... So unprofessional.... The WiFi hardly ever works.

Clean hotel, good location.

Overall, good hotel and enjoyed our stay. Large, clean rooms and comfortable. Great location to Gateway to India and Taj Mahal Hotel, walking distance. Easy access to street shopping and restaurants in area. Front reception staff courteous and helpful. Restaurant limited.

Excelent hotel in Colaba district

Clean, comfortable, quiet hotel in busy Colaba district. Staff polite and helpfull. Breakfast of fresh fruit, canned juice, cornflakes, eggs to order, toast with jam and tea or coff ee. Large rooms. Close to India Gate and restaurants and about 30 minute pleasant stroll to Churchgate and Victoria rail stations. Not 5 star but good value.

2 nights in february

This accomodation is a good place to be in Colaba. We had a room on the side of the building. The room was spacious and clean. The newspaper at the door every morning was great.Informations given by the reception staffs were relevant. The minus points were: internet wifi charged and the noise inside the hotel.

Comfortable friendly and in a fantastic location

This hotel was great from the minute we arrived to when we left. We could not fault it. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Good value for money

One is weary when booking accommodation online, not knowing what you would expect in another country, but the Ascot hotel, Mumbai India will set ones mind at ease. It is well situated and in walking distance from the Gateway of India and various sights. The room was comfortable, clean with good quality bedding. The front desk staff very friendly and extremely helpful. A nice touch was the wonderful fresh dates offered at reception.

As good as it gets

Excellent - from the moment of arrival when Jackson made us feel like honoured and welcomed guests. Nothing was too much trouble from the excellent staff. Recommend without hesitation.

Best asset: good location

It's not the Ritz but it was fine for a short stay. Everyone was pleasant and tried to be helpful. Included breakfast was decent. I was skeptical that they would show up to pick us up at the airport late in the evening as arranged by email from home but was pleasantly surprised that they were there to greet us. We had requested a room with two beds expecting two double or two queen beds. Instead we had a room with a king and a separate rollaway bed. Our room was rated as a 'delux' but I think the 'superior' rooms are just the same as a 'delux' and not worth the extra $$. I would say that it was worth the price we paid..

Good hotel in great location in Colaba

I would recommend this hotel for its location in Colaba,amidst the shops and street traders,and five minutes walk from The Gateway of India.The staff on the front desk were helpful and efficient and suggested places we might like to visit.The rooms were clean,but showing signs of a little wear and tear in places.

Comfortable place to stay, vibrant neighborhood

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff very attentive. The various Colaba tourist sites are all close walking distance, and the neighborhood itself is entertaining. My meetings were in Worli and I had no problems getting back and forth.

Nice but noisy

Hotel room was clean and the staff where very friendly and helpful. Our room was big in size and the bed was comfortable too. Outside was noisy which did disturb us in the night. It was the room next to reception might be better if on a higher floor. Location was great for Mumbai sites.

Great centrally located and affordable hotel

Whilst the hotel is very centrally located for shopping ,the Taj Hotel and the Gateway to India, iit is also quiet - a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation recommending this very reasonably priced hotel

Great Location for Colaba

I was soo surprised! The hotel rating says 3 I would say more like a 4 star.Our room was granite/marble very spacious.The room at all times was very clean.All the staff are very friendly and helpful.The main desk staff especially Jackson and the lovely young lady{sorry i forgot her name}always went out of their way to help us in our enquiries.The waiters were always polite and courteous.I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is great value for money,location and most important cleaniness is a priority.

Good Value in Munbai

The staff were friendly and provided good information about getting around Mumbai. The hotel is located on the main shopping street and near Leopold's the world famous bar and restaurant. Good reasonable priced mid range for Mumbai.

Very nice

I was very suprised how nice this hotel was, very nicely greeted by the front desk, very charming. Super Fast check in, they did it all for you leaving you to go straight to your room, returning passports in 15 mins. Room was great, bed really nice, tv big/new. Only problem I had was frosted glass door on bathroom/toilet who wants that??

Ascot Colaba Mumbai

Everything was great except the key card system was broken so we had to have the staff let us in our room every time. They were incredibly apologetic and responsive, but it was frustrating that it took two days to fix it. Still, the staff was incredibly helpful, the location was great, and the hotel was nice.

Only a few minutes walk away from the "Gateway to India" so very handy from a tourist perspective.

Good place to stay near India Gate

This is a really great area to stay in, as long as you don't mind the street vending, which can hinder walking on the sidewalk. There are some really bad hotels in this area and for just a bit more money this place offers a very good value. I had one problem--Ethernet cable connection was not installed, instead bare wires were present). The issue was "corrected" relatively quickly but the fix was just moving me to another room and I don't know if the underlying problem, of no connector, was actually acted upon. The room size is very comfortable and even luxurious. The bed is huge, but it is two mattresses put side by side, each with separate sheets/comforter. For a single person it was fine but for couples it will be awkward.

A good hotel and well placed

I spent the last three days of my holiday in India at the Ascot hotel in Mumbai. I was very impressed with the accommodation and staff at this hotel. The room was large, conformable and very clean. The staff (especially Mr. Jackson who made a point of welcoming me each time he saw me by name), were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast at the hotel was good and served very efficiently.

Nice Hotel; disorganized staff

Don't be deterred by the rather tired exterior appearance of the Ascot Hotel (it desperately needs a lick of paint!); the interior is much nicer. The rooms are well appointed, fairly big and sparkling. The location is great - you are close to most sights yet on a relatively quiet and leafy lane. The breakfast service is attentive; the reception staff however is very disorganized. Solid option in Colaba - would definitely stay there again.

Mumbai excellent location

Very clean hotel, nice and helpful staff. Well located beside the Gate of India and the water. Food was ok but not excellent.
