Beautiful stay
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff. Fabulous breakfast accompanied by a pianist!
An excellent hotel with lovely rooms. The rooms are quite spacious compared to some hotels I have been in. The rooms had a lovely unimpeded sea view.
Beautiful place!
Brilliant
A very comfortable stay and an ideal location
Nice stay.
The room was nice. Large, a sofa, twin beds pushed together. Nice bathroom, nice large balcony looking with great view of the beach and the ocean. The layout of the hotel was weird, not an easy flow. Large dining area with buffet breakfast and dinner and live music with a set play list.. We are not fond of buffets so the food was on par with our expectations. The staff was good but not exceptional.
Second time staying here and loved it as much as the first, there is some tiredness in the room, more wear and tear but overall I love this place and will be back again
I enjoyed the breakfast. The buffet dinner was poor and cold. Service was great.
Fabulous adults only hotel. Friendly polite staff. Excellent facilities, exceptionally clean, great food and very conveniently located. Can’t fault it. Will definitely be back soon 😃!!
Relaxing week
Had a very relaxing week early July. Not too busy so finding a sunbed by the pool was simple as was finding a table in the restaurant. Great range of food at breakfast and dinner.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in AP Oriental Hotel.
awesome
We loved our 6 days at the hotel, it was everything they said it would be, the beaches, the hotel itself.....only one small complaint, the beds are firm and when we say firm, we mean FIRM. Definitely stay there again!
Enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location on the beach via a stairwell and boardwalk. Quiet and relaxing grounds and pool. Would stay there again.
Never coming back
Worst stay and service ever. Firstly I requested when I booked to be on the upper level of our partial view booking as we were celebrating our 40 years of marriage. When we arrived not only did they not honour our request( only hotel who did not in our 11 days travel in Portugal) but they put us in the worst room possible. They gave us room 30 which is located on the lower floor all by itself next to the fitness room and passage to restaurant and near the glass elevator. Everytime the elevator stopped we could heard a loud screeching sound.I guess the break hydraulics. The room was stuffy with very little light because it had a partition wall that blocked half the room with a stain sofa on the other side. The balcony was the smallest and right beside it was stairs for everyone to access the green sunbathing area.No privacy or quietness at all. There was no robes, ration of towels and more importantly only gave you a roll of toilet paper. Towels were awful quality and for paying half board the breakfast was not that great of a variety with only one person cleaning up.Oversll this hotel made me feel like I was on a cruise ship of seventies plus. My husband and I are in our early 60’s. There is a young front guy who needs extra coaching on customer service. When we first checked in he was present and saw us going in and out of the hotel several times and not once did he acknowledge with hello or ask how are day is going.I feel this hotel is struggling and cutting back on things.
Fabulous
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The staff in this hotel are all so friendly and helpful. Our room was bright airy and spacious and also had a balcony. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, and a pianist playing every morning. We enjoyed a few of the Theme nights and found the dishes very authentic. Architecturally, the hotel is stunning. It is in a quite area, has its own access to the beach and is close to bars and restaurants. All in all, we had a fabulous stay and hopefully we will return.
Great hotel on Praia da Rocha! Amenities and services are great! The garden and facilities are very nice and the views amazing! I recommend!
First impression was hotel was charming and exotic, but the room was disappointing- tired and in need of renovations. Staff was courteous and the luggage valet was informative and friendly.
Location on or near the beach not to far to walk to some good restaurants and bars.
Nice spacious room with huge balcony on 1st floor with ocean view . The stuff on reception was so kind to bring us a bottle of wine as a status of VIP Expedia member. Booked with option half board - we had a wonderful dinner and breakfast. Walking around the resort - great views, ocean, people are walking and running. Water in the pool was not enough to swim in the beginning of April. Definitely will come back at warmer season to enjoy the swimming and sun-bathing
Very Fine Stay
Great stay! Nice location, terrific breakfast, comfortable. Only small complaint is the noise of the elevator.
View of the sea from the balcony was breathtaking. Breakfast buffet itself and the view was fantastic. Rooms big, lovely lobby. Great experience and amazing location.
Excellent hotel very friendly staff very clean beautiful views even with a partial sea view room parking spaces are minimal but free parking on street behind hotel lots of choice in the restaurant definitely worth a visit
The staff were all friendly and helpful. During our three week stay, they treated us like family. We liked the food for both breakfast and dinner. The music provided by a pianist at breakfast was a bonus.
Love love love everything
The AP Oriental Beach Hotel in Portimao is a beautifully well thought out property. The hotel has a tranquil atmosphere and is beautifully decorated in Moroccan inspired design. The front desk staff were beyond amazing! Very helpful and spoke various languages. I was travelling solo and felt safe. The beach is easily accessed by stairs going directly down to the beach from the hotel. My ocean view terrace was great for enjoying a morning coffee and evening cup of tea. I traveled during the winter - but still managed to enjoy a couple of beautiful sunsets and sunrises from the balcony. The food served buffet style was plenty and the variety appealed to all taste buds - including vegetarian and I believe there were also gulten free options. Highly recommend this hotel.
good Location and very friendly staff
Nice time
Beach access excellent. Pianist very good. Lovely breakfast.
Property is close to the beach which good. Parking is a big problem. They have three spots. If they’re occupied free parking around the streets are a big challenge.
The breakfast was good, the customer services excellent, and great location.
The sea view discreption is misleading, our room was in a basement with a garden full of chairs, we changed room after a big hustle with the staff to a partial sea view. The hotel is not what we liked to experience, it is more for large groups.
Pros: Stunning common areas Amazing views Easy beach access Very spacious rooms [Double, sea view] Very friendly, helpful staff Great buffet with a spread of typical continental breakfast items, and amusingly, all the inputs for a Full English, and even some sparkling wine! Cons: No in-room recycling No on-site parking, likely difficult during peak season
Great hotel, great staff, great atmosphere. I really enjoyed my stay here and I’ll be back!
This was one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed at and we’ve travelled extensively. The view is worth a million bucks. The interior of the hotel is gorgeous. The breakfast buffet is incredible. The food is delicious and the pianist who plays during breakfast is really, really good. Overall I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
LOve this hotel and the amenities, food a little cold side but overall our experience was great.
A peaceful place to enjoy and rest! At the end of our trip to Portugal we chose to have a few relaxing days! And truthfully this waterfront hotle exceeded our expectation! Everything was beautiful! The restaurant and food was excellent! The only draw back was the smell In the hallway. The ventalation for bathrooms was not effective!
We stayed five nights and enjoyed every minute. The staff were friendly and courteous. Check in and check out were a breeze. The room was very comfortable and quite. The food on the buffet both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. The only criticism I can offer is that they didn't enforce their own dress code for dinner. There are postings through out the hotel that state no swim or beach wear. People still showed up in tank tops and trunks.
Perfect location and adults only.
Oriental was in an amazing location. The views were amazing from our room. The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. Multiple languages are spoken by staff
Excellent adult only property. Breakfast was plentiful and buffet dinner was great. Access to beach was easy. Major issue with parking your car! There is no parking or valet service. It was a nightmare.
No children was great as we had offloaded ours for the trip. Arriving was such a pleasant experience - offered a glass of wine and the staff were so attentive. Right next to the beach with a sea view - perfect. The only negative is that the atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit like a cruise ship, older clientele, quite old fashioned, so one night we skipped the half board and went out to eat on the beach front which is a 1 minute walk down the steps. Four or five restaurants on the beach which are really good. Great cocktails. All in all 5 stars.
Really nice hotel, enjoyed it a lot
Excellent hotel and hospitality.
Large comfortable rooms with lots of amenities. Spacious balcony and furnishing standard is high. Very attentive service and staff. Very good buffet breakfast. Missing a bathtub and would be nice in a leisure hotel, the main guestroom entrance doors could do with some more sound insulation. So overall it is very comfortable but would help to modernise sound insulation around the doors and windows.
Right on the beach
AP Oriental Beach is located as it's name suggests, right on the beach. It's at the end of the busy Priai Da Rocha main street, which means it's nice an quiet at night. A 10 minute walk into the centre of all of the restaurants and bars. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Portmao area.
Staff were wonderful and very welcoming. Room 401 was excellent. Fabulous balconies with good views of the beach, great size room, very clean and comfortable. The only thing that let this down was no coffee in the room, just tea. Parking on site was limited, though got free parking on adjacent street to the hotel.
Great Time in Portimao
Great time in Portimao. AP Oriental was great this was our second time staying there.
We’ve had a lovely stay and we’ll definitely come back once everywhere opens up again. The view from our room is the best that we’ve had in our years of travelling abroad. The reception and restaurant staff are extremely helpful and are always asking whether we are having a good time. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring Praia da Rocha, Alvor and Carveiro. The brief time we spent sunbathing due to the changeable weather was enjoyable. Again lovely views and attentive staff. Thank you Ap Oriental Beach, for making my pre-40th birthday celebrations memorable x
Great location
We were given a room that was down half a flight of stairs, so beware if you're caring heavy luggage. Breakfast was good and varied but fresh pastries would have been welcomed
Would definitely return if beds more comortable
Very friendly and helpful staff throughout the stay. Staff gave a lovely welcome and were very informative. Wonderful, relaxing resort with immaculate cleanliness, dining room and food quality and beachfront view. Slightly let down by the beds and linen since they weren't very comfortable and bed sheet setup was too simplistic - only a bed sheet without a light duvey, this should be improved.
Lobby and beach
Overall, a really good hotel. Location is fantastic, with direct access to the beach. Breakfast was quite good. Would recommend. Things that we found unacceptable for a 4 star hotel: - Check-in - it was a terrible experience. We waited for about 1h, at one point there were 4 other workers looking idle at the person on the computer checking in. - No parking - had to drive around and pray for a place. This ruined the experience. - coffee is an extra for breakfast (!!) - juices were not fresh on breakfast.
Excellent hotel, great location. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Very comfortable, nice and clean. Very calming environment.
We have a lovely stay at Hotel Oriental. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good, with a great view of the beach. We had a small issue with the air-con unit but the staff were able to sort that out for us.
Avoid the food buffets.
We enjoyed the beach, pool, grass sun umbrellas —-and the great location, plus the balcony with partial ocean view. (Jr suite) The lobby is pretty, and the staff is friendly upon check in. My husband ordered ice to the room. He was charged at the door for service of 5 euro. Mini bucket! This was our 8th hotel in Europe and none of them had charged for ice. He usually tips well, but this time he obviously didn’t ! Breakfast was included in the rate, but the buffet was really lame, low quality items, especially meats and breads. Coffee was from a machine. Espresso had instant crystals in the bottom of the cup, and the cappuccino tasted like sweet convenience store fake-ness. It felt like an all inclusive without much included. We noticed many guests eating the dinner buffet, too. Glad we avoided evenings here altogether, since many nice restaurants are walking distance on the boardwalk and charming street.
Amazing experience! Friendly and helpful staff, great food, location is wonderful, amazing value for the money. Can’t wait to go back! Front desk guys, you’re Ángels!
Excellent Vacation
Fantastic place and amazing service. Right on the beach! Highly recommend!
It is a very nice place and all staff are very friendly and polite I would definitely stay there again , I would stay there every time I come to algarve
It was an all round excellent hotel. Location, staff, food and experience generally were all great!
Big room, clean and modern but is missing an iron in the rooms
This was our first trip to Portugal to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. This hotel was absolutely perfect. Good location, near the beach and away from the busy end of the “strip”. The staff were phenomenal, all of them. We were offered Prosecco on arrival and made to feel very welcomed. The managers went out of their way to speak to each guest at breakfast and they remembered names. Very impressive. Special mention has to go to Paolo who sorted out our slightly delayed check in, which was not the hotel’s fault. Paolo upgraded us to a wonderful sea view room which he didn’t have to do, but we appreciated it nevertheless. The room was lovely, spacious, clean and I have to say had one of the best showers I’ve ever experienced. For my husband’s birthday, at dinner, the management surprised him with a mini cake and bottle of bubbly. The attention to detail was amazing. We will return. We had a great time here and didn’t want to leave.
Disappointed
Wouldn't call it 5star service by any stretch of the imagination. The hotel says it has parking, what it doesn't tell you is that it has 3 dedicated spaces otherwise you have to drive round looking to park on the street 5-10min walk away. Check-in not 24hrs so don't bother turning up earlier than 3. No late check out rudely told to check after breakfast on the day of check out, then proceeded to "check" the system to see what time the next people were due to check into our room before being told no. Breakfast was just about 3star. Had to leave a deposit to get a beach towel. Overall disappointed and glad we used our free nights to stay, no way worth paying full price.
The atmosphere of this small hotel was warm and friendly, the food food and staff very helpful. Views of the beach are stunning.
A Charming Slice of Paradise! This hotel is a real charmer with great character yet modernised to suit the needs of discerning travellers and set right on the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach. The large bedroom with its modern shower room had a sea facing balcony with fabulous views across the beach. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, particularly Paolo and the general manager made the the time to come and chat to guests during breakfast. The hotel has a fabulous pool area with stairs leading right onto the beach. The food was excellent and varied throughout our stay and included Portuguese dishes within a wide choice of other dishes to suit all tastes. For a really relaxing and most enjoyable holiday in the sun, it’s simply one of the best places we have stayed!’
Delightful
Not be further fro A nonhappy face which could Somehow our arrival mark listed a non happy face:nothing could be further from our truth! We had a wonderful time on our return trip. Right on the beach. Beautifully decorated hotel with spacious rooms and wonderful meals. Very helpful staff throughout. I highly recommend this hotel oriental!
I spent a few days at Hotel Oriental. It was a great choice and I would definitely go back. The location is perfect, on a beautiful beach, and also close to shops and restaurants. The food is simply amazing. We had half board and I think I never ate so much in my life. Not only there was a big choice and variety of food, but it was also really good and fresh. The staff is super nice and helpful, from the guys at the reception to the restaurant staff. The room is nice and clean. I can 100% recommend Hotel Oriental
Comfortable faded elegance
Very welcome bit of comfort after 5 nights on a boat. Great reception, great location, newly refurbished room with beautiful sea view. Superb view out over the sea from the restaurant it was just a shame the buffet style evening meal was only adequate.
Hotel with spectacular beach views.
The hotel is in a spectacular location overlooking Praia Rocha. We had a spacious sea front room and a balcony with sunbeds as well as a table and chairs. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast and dinner buffet had a good variety of hot and cold food. We were disappointed that the spa was closed and the lovely outdoor pool wasn't heated so it was too cold to use.
First trip to Europe
Stay was fantastic! Great location on the beach! Breakfast each morning was amazing! Sunsets from balcony were unbelievable and stunning. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and very clean. The pool was a little chilly but for the time of year that was understandable. We still managed to take a dip everyday. Walking the beach everyday was a real treat. We have enjoyed our stay so much we booked another two nights to extend our time at Hotel Oriental. Would definitely return with friends and family.
End of season bargain.
Nice big room, big comfy bed, all looks freshly decorated, great breakfast, and at a bargain end of season rate.
Fantastic hotel right on beach, with wonderfully helpful staff and a great room over looking the sea!
Lovely hotel with excellent staff.
Seaside Delight
The staff were incredibly helpful and genuinely cared for their customers. The room and view were spectacular and the food and entertainment were top quality. A delight to stay.
Ocean front Paradise!
The hotel was fabulous. We loved the ocean view and location was perfect. We ate all our meals at the hotel and the food was delicious. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were great and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
員工很好
前枱員工很有禮貌。 在我入住前,我在巴士上遺留了行李,酒店員工幫我聯係巴士公司。所以最後我找到行李了。
Amazing location and truly relaxing environment. Spa like feel. Cab ride to town can be expensive but we thought the beaches were prettier in our location.
Fabulous sunsets from the balcony!
Lovely beach with amazing sunset, comfortable pillows, and friendly service.
A pleasant few days.
Good value for money hotel in a quieter end of the beach. Superb location with private steps to the beach. Staff and room were very good. Mediocre food let's it down. They have a captive audience only offering half board option. More cushions needed for sunbeds by the pool.
Great Hotel. Great Location
Great Hotel. Great Location. When we come back ... we will come here !
Good hotel next to beach.
Very nice hotel for adults close by shops and restaurants beach great just down the private steps very relaxing area visit the village of Alvor and trip to Lagos great for shoppers had a great holiday will return entrainment good as you can join any hotel in evenings with music.
Exquisite hotel in ideal location
The hotel was designed with oriental sophistication appealing to solely adults. Our room was large with tasteful decor with everything you would want: balcony with sea and pool views, sofa, table, chair, ensuite bathroom with added feature bidet. There was kettle for tea making and fridge. My husband and I had one of the best massages ever at the hotel spa. There was a small gym but adequate and ran activities few times a week: hydra gymnastics in pool and mind and body (tai chai, yoga, Pilates and meditation) in the sunbathing garden. The shops were good and pleasant walks to observe picturesque scenery. The golden sandy beach looked like it stretched for miles with tropical tree shades in front of the blue sea (bit cold tho'). The hotel cuisine was exquisite with something for everyone. The hotel put on a sardine speciality lunch with sangria unlimited and entertainment. Friendly, helpful staff. Great holiday!
Fabulous.
Beautiful location, hotel has some issues
A lot of issues, disappointment but beach was beautiful . Food was cafeteria quality, we ended up eating out each evening even though it was included. Breakfast just ok. Would not stay at this location in the future
Avoid Room 102
Kitchen ducts outside room . Poor breakfast.Hotel set up for people on half board. It's. race at mealtimes for a table and food. Popular with Saga. Tried Sunday evening but left and went down the street which is easy plenty of choice. You can replace the tea bags in your room for 3Euro Very poor check in . Checkout good
Perfect location
Very nice hotel in Praia da Rocha. Super close to the beach (just one flight of stairs down to the beach front). Beautiful, wide and clean beach. Hotel room clean and comfortable. Ocean view was a side view but we were not too fussed. We would go there again.
Friendly hotel with great food
We booked the hotel as it was on the beach and had nearby restaurants. However, the food in the hotel was so good we soon upgraded to half board. Check in was easy and Ana on the front desk was great and helped us with booking tours as her local knowledge and contacts were invaluable. We chose a room with a sea view as it is a great view of the beach. Overall a great experience and no hesitation in going back.
Lovely hotel and location
lovely looking hotel, great views of the beech, Staff were friendly and helpful. Beakfast was very good. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and the nearby garden. Lovely beech, straight onto it from the hotel.
Good location but conditions can be improved
The hotel is just above the beach and has direct access to the sand and to the main walking street in Praia da Rocha (Avenida Tomas Cabreira). The rooms have a kitchen box; the fridge comes handy. However, the ventillation in the hallways is not very good. Also, the shower drains next to the pool get clogged occasionally.
Near to the beach.
Lovely room, nice setting. Staff were helpful. The first night we were in the last room, which has disabled access and no balcony, which was slightly noisy due to the position, however we were moved first thing next morning to a garden view room, which was perfect.
Lovely hotel on beach
Lovely hotel right on beach in the much quieter end of Pria da Rocha. Room was lovely modern and clean.
GREAT HOTEL CLOSE TO BEACH
GREAT STAFF , BOTH ANNA'S ON RECEPTION WERE EXCELLENT , VERY GOOG BUFFET BREAKFAST , ROOMS WERE SPOTLESS WITH AIRCONDITIONING..
Portimao hotel break
Nice hotel, close to beach but infirm/elderly would struggle with long series of steps down to beach level. Service was efficient. Not much character to resort - mainly hotels, bars & restaurants but if willing to travel a little way, we found Alvor and Lagos good for day trips.
Expected more
The hotel was nice but the staff was not very helpful or friendly
We had an enjoyable stay. Fantastic beach walks
Best time to go April/May for us and we had good weather 20+C. Some days cloudy but mainly sunshine all day. Many restaurants to eat out for lunch and at night. Hotel ideal for a short break and to get some sun. Not sure we would come back in high season. Bit of a concrete jungle with many hotels and Bars but it was great to get away for a week. Flight out from UK departed Stanstead/Faro 07:10 so a bit of a long day. Flight home left hotel @ 07:00 to catch Ryanair flight 10:30 ex Faro. Found this ideal time and we arrived home in Lincolnshire around 1730. Used Shared Shuttle taxi no problems and only £46 out/back to Faro airport. Took about 01h 30m each way. Would we come back again - Yes
Hotel room
Booked hotel expecting balcony as advertised in room 116 no balcony. Asked to move one lady looked & said no another lady found a room but we had to wait 2 nights. Room obviously set up for disabled disappointed for 2 nights
Algarve
Stayed for 3 nights. Excellent service, friendly staff, wonderful location on the beach. Would definitely book this hotel again.
Weekend away
Just there for a weekend away, only negative comment would be about the tea and coffee in the room
Great proximity to beach and marina
Greet at reception was pleasant but forgot to tell us a few things so we had to pop back a few times. Room was nice but dated, bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a few dark hairs to contend with! Missing one of the children's beds, but didnt realise until bed time when there was no extra bedding for the 2nd child, this was rectified the following morning. View was partial sea view, OK. Breakfast was pleasant, beans cold but fruit lovely. Staff in the restaurant were like robots, no smile, no expression and we quickly realised this was a SAGA hotel and we were there with our two well behaved children (9 & 6) and felt frowned upon. The children didnt give anyone any reason to make us feel unconformable but the looks at breakfast and the tuts as they swam and splashed each other by the pool made us feel awkward, as if we were in the wrong hotel. Not a bad stay and would recommend, but don't ask to use the SAGA chess set or scrabble. NOT ALLOWED!
Staff great, room nice with welcoming bottle of wine, walk right down to the beach with private access. Parking available but if no room showed us where to park one street over and safe. Clean place. Breakfast area very clean. Best buffet breakfast I have seen since living in the Middle East, everything fresh from fruit, cured meats, yogurt, beautiful local pastries and breads, variety of nuts cooked oatmeal- could not fault this place. Even had a gentleman playing piano during breakfast - not for everyone but we enjoyed it.
