Very friendly and helpful staff. This is my third time staying here in the past 18 months
Good location.
Same at last time would staying every time here
Very good breakfast fresh made 😋
Quiet, clean, comfortable, wonderfully maintained room at the best price imaginable.
The floors were why I gave a 2 for cleanliness and some of the furniture in common areas were dusty. Our stay was in February and I think we may have been the only occupants in an eight room inn. We only saw one employee and he was great. The bacon and egg breakfast the next morning was an added bonus.
Nice historical property conveniently located.
Very comfortable. Quiet. A lovely place.
Cozy warm very nostalgic
Very centrally located. Good parking. Easy a cess
Nice quiet stay
Staff did not clean the rooms at all Only gave us fresh towels This not the way to run a hotel
Great downtown location, antique style furniture, beautiful wood floors and balustrades, high ceilings, comfortable enough beds and very comfortable pillows. One complaint--breakfast hour closed purportedly at 9:30. We arrived in the breakfast room 9:00. No one was there and not even the whiff of coffee perfumed the air nor was even a continental-style leftover. The inn promises a hot breakfast. When we contacted the desk person, he told us the kitchen closed at 9. I don't believe the kitchen opened at all that morning. Lovely place to stay but I'd suggest affirming the kitchen will be available when checking in. It may make it so...
The building was warm.It looks true to “Victorian” style. It has unique woodwork/trim. The bathroom was big with a tiny shower. It’s close to restaurants and shops. The bed was clean and comfy.
Enjoyed the stay at this Inn.
meh.
Everything was great except the cobwebs on the ceilings, mold on the shower’s privacy screen and someones used sleeping mask just hung up on the mirror
Great value for quick overnight stay.
It's worth for this price.
All good for a solo trip. Clean, quiet; just the basics. No in-room fridge or coffee maker but frankly that didn’t matter for me: the low price made up for it in a very big way.
The establishment is very cozy and comfortable. The rooms are not well insulated from noise but this is understandable cause the building is old. The breakfast was good, maybe a little light. The only problem that makes us remove a star is that there was no hot water in the bathroom which was not very pleasant. The rest was perfect, it is a beautiful place, well maintained, in a nice city and neighborhood
We stayed in the cottage for 4 nights and then 5 nights in the main building - see the other review for details. Very good for the rates.
This charming Inn is beautifully decorated reflecting its age. Keep in mind that the main building has 2 flights of stairs although there are cottages out back that feature direct access from the parking lot. Also, the cottage has a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and cupboards. The shower head was poor but there was plenty of hot water for a bath .Bring your own shower safety mat. Comfy bed in both the cottage and the main building. Breakfast was complimentary and featured eggs, toast and ham or bacon along with very tasty coffee. Aatmann and Smith were excellent hosts.
A very enjoyable stay!
Comfortable room and good breakfast
Beautiful grand house built in 1904. Architecture and decor is amazing. Nice, quiet room was comfortable. Walking options are great: one direction you can walk the length of Main St; the other direction towards the walking trails along the harbour. Really enjoyable with nice breakfast.
We liked the style
Not well maintained
We had a great stay in the turret room. There were a few cobwebs in the high places but we had a lovely sleep and the bed was comfy!!
A historic property with interesting rooms
The home and property was beautiful and very charming. Our room was relatively clean, however there were dirty marks on the white sheets like they had possibly been stepped on during transport to the room, also the round area rug in the room needed vacuuming as well as the stair case carpet leading up to the room was in need of being vacuumed or possibly a good steam cleaning.. the staff (Atmel?) was very sweet and accommodating and our breakfast was perfect. All in all it was a very nice stay and we would stay again!
Classic style and beauty..very quiet..excellent staff..
mmmmm
This was a lovely old Victorian house close to town but our room had an awful odour. We should have asked fir a different room.
Beautiful room. Some items like the shades could have used repair. The breakfast was fast and delicious. The Inn is downtown so everything needed was readily accessible.
The room I stayed in had everything. A small kitchen, living space, bedroom and bathroom.
Our room was very dirty. Toothpaste on the walls in the bathroom, dirty walls in the bathroom, a significant amount of black mold in the shower, stained sheets, broken blind on the window and the smell of Marijuana and curry as you entered the building was unacceptable. There was an artfully displayed toilet paper pyramid in the bathroom. Why? We were only there for one night. How much toilet paper can one couple use? Although breakfast was included, we decided to go somewhere else as we feared for our health. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The property need some TLC, but it has the old world charm. Our room was Eerie, and it was comfortable. The property is from 1900's, so that was a plus. The breakfast was limited but filling.
This was the worst place we have ever stayed. Everything was really dirty - crumbs on the counter, a dirt ring around the tub, dirty glasses, kitchen table not wiped, huge spiders on the patio & chairs - but to top it off, the bedding had not been changed!! There was a “certain stain” in the middle of the bed sheet - and the liner beneath it! We got new sheets and changed the bed ourselves - the staff we talked to said it was the washing machine not working - but it wasn’t “that” kind of stain …. We were EXTREMELY upset and disappointed.
The breakfast was very good.
Been here a few times in the past. Got to say that this time was a disappointment. The overall entrance was a bit messy but the weather had been rainy. The room itself was just ok but the bathroom was dirty. Baseboards were filthy and there was toothpaste or something on the wall beside the sink. Some new caulking in the shower would go a long way too. Overall a disappointment
Did not stay, charged $65.00 for a cancellation. Room did not have a private in room bathroom. Too many stairs. Not good for a couple of seniors having to get up a couple of times a night
Beautiful property - well maintained. Sits on a few acres of gorgeous land with trees (a wedding would work awesome here!). The breakfast was fantastic - choice of 5 menu options. We’d be happy to stay again -
Old structure. Well kept. Lots of character.
We're seniors and had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor. Bathroom was across the hall from the bedroom. Had to be careful not to bump our heads on the ceiling. Staff weren't particularly friendly because they were too busy. Had to return a few times before someone was there to give us our key. Breakfast was just okay. Would not stay here again.
Nice old home Right on a busy street
Our bed sheets had an awful stain right near the pillows. There was a bright light outside the bedroom window and noting to block it. No gluten free bread available.
It’s an historic building
The bed was good, but the suite very old. It did face a beautiful outdoor space though.
Place looked great
Good place to stay, bathroom drain was clogged and dusty, stains in sheets. Could use a good cleaning
It was nice with character.
Great place to stay a few days. Wonderful property, historical building, picturesque. An experience in itself.
I would never go back to this place. Our sheets were dirty and we were given sheets to change the bed. There was dust and dirt everywhere. Unfortunately it was late when this was discovered or we would have found another place
Comfortable
Great comfortable cottage, could be cleaner! Breakfast started at 8 and I wish it was earlier.
The hotel is located in downtown so is nice to walk around.
Wonderful breakfast. Beautiful Victorian home that was furnished to reflect the times but with modern amenities.
Great place
Inhospitable staff
Nice Victorian Inn, disappointed that We had booked the Inn but ended up in the Cottage out back.
Worst experience ever!!!!
This place was very dirty. Sheets had dark stains that looked like feces or blood. Bathroom floor full of urine around the bowl. Beautiful evening but nowhere to sit outside ~ 24 steps to get to the room ~ this should be noted on the website!!! Breakfast area overcrowded!! Shortage of parking as well ~ will not return to this place!!!
This place is a disaster. Falling apart, dirty, cheap furnishings. I don't know how or why Expedia lists this property. It is not what they claim to be and the pictures are either old or of another site. One such example; their coffee were grounds taken out of a larger bag and put in a Mason jar. Who knows what is in there? DO NOT GO HERE. Find another place.
Super food and service
Stayed 2 different nights on our road trip to and from Cape Breton, had 2 different rooms, first one was dusty, major dust underneath the bed, bathroom blind was broken and would not close at all, sheets and pillow cases had stains, second was just as dusty and stained sheets again, dining room floor had not been swept for a while.
A great place to stay. Very good breakfast. Neat house.
Breakfast area was a bit small, and one person seemed to be cooking and serving, and was pretty organized, but so busy, didn’t provide too much attention to customers.
Good location and breakfast was great. Well priced inn. Good place to stay if you are stopping thought
The complimentary breakfast was wonderful. The options were good and the service was excellent. Being right downtown on Main Street was a plus as well. We were able to walk to local restaurants and shops. Unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was very disappointing. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, there was a coffee maker but no coffee, the microwave didn’t work, the bath tub was plugged and worst of all our sheets were stained and dirty. We had to sleep on top of them.
Very quaint Inn, within walking distance to everything in town. Breakfast was good. Our room was not very clean. There was a lot of dirt and grime on the shower curtain rod and baseboards. The electrical outlets were very loose, so my plugins just slipped right out. That was frustrating.
Great place to overnight in Antigonish. Very comfortable and quiet. The included breakfast was cooked fresh to order. I would definitely stay here again.
Good location walking distance from downtown.
Ok but not excellent
Not bad, but angled ceilings meant you had to stoop over a lot to avoid bumping your head. One of staff was ill in the morning so no breakfast, but received a $20 discount and helped with where else we could eat.
Property needs thorough cleaning as bath shower stall is moldy! No space to put personal toiletries inside bathroom. No breakfast available on second day as cook sick gave us $24 refund however staff should have alternative cook/ staff?? Otherwise we like this town of Antigonish
Loved this spot…very quiet and comfortable and sooo clean! Plus it comes with a sit down delicious breakfast in the dining room! So classy!!
Ok
A very quaint B&B!
We had high expectations for this historic property located in the centre of this sweet town. I'm not sure if there was a recent change in ownership but the weird smell in the entrance way and the dirty door to our room should have tipped us off. The bathroom was dirty, the sheets were dirty and there was only a thin coverlet to sleep under, but worst was the small, bouncy and squeaky ancient mattress. We had paid top dollar and were not impressed. We decided to complain and at least get new sheets on the terrible bed so looked for someone at the front desk, rang the bell and called the number for about 15 minutes. No response. We finally decided to leave and found an alternative hotel about an hour away. Hoping to get a refund but cannot contact anyone at the property. Totally worth it anyway.
Moldy shower curtain, no hot water in dining room, very small dining space (not enough seats for all guests/had to share table with strangers), only 4 options for breakfast, 10 AM check out, patio area dirty
Staff was pleasant, accommodations unique as it was built in 1904. Could use some upgrades but all in all a pleasant stay. The breakfast was very good!
The location was great. Mold in the shower, dirt and dust everywhere. Tiny bathroom, no tissues, sheets were okay but the blanket was unpleasant. Breakfast was included and fine. Coffee was good. Ice machine was inadequate, water tasted yucky.
A nice place to stay if you’re in town or between Halifax and Cape Breton
Just ok. Would book elsewhere
Location was very to STFX. Lots of shopping and food options within walking distance. Breakfast was ok. Pre-fixed menu. No juice only coffee and water. Beware that not all rooms have attached washrooms. We had a private washroom across the hall from our room. We obviously didn’t read fine print. Baseboards, railings and carpet were dirty. Sheets and pillow cases had grease marks from dryer. No fridge in room. Did have AC.
Very dated and tired. But clean. They should replace a few things. (The fan in the bathroom, the shower curtain and the stained sheets) Good location and fine for one night.
Nice bed clean room
Stunningly beautiful old inn. I was a little surprised to find that my room's bathroom was not in the room (one of 2 rooms like this, I believe) but it was ni big deal. I left before breakfast was served but it looked like they put on quite the spread.
mediocre at best breakfast for a bed and breakfast.
We.had a bathroom unit 6. The bathtub was unfit to bath. Shower okay.
Lovely old building with lots of Victoriana. A it weathered, but that’s part of the charm. We spent a pleasant night here.
Was excellent except no elevator
It was a gorgeous, quiet, quaint place to stay however, I had trouble with the door, it was hard to get the door unlocked each time going in and the bed was very uncomfortable, it gave me bad back pain and I got no sleep because of it.
We had anticipated a more “Victorian” style room, it’s was more like staying in grandmas spare bedroom in the attic.
Beautiful property in old Victorian decor. Clean. Breakfast was included.
Loved the layout beautiful room clean comfy.
Great stay!
Very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was amazing!
Love the location ,very dated! Staff were lovely. Needs a deep clean and repairs and decor
Everything was great!!! The hot breakfast was excellent… convenient dining across the street! Good service!
Unique building.
Ok but dated.
Charming old place yes it's we're checking in the night of the 7th and tomorrow is the 8th

Cute spot, fair price. Would stay again if I needed to. Staff not readily available at times however.
