Excellent service

This is a beautiful resort with well maintained grounds. I love all the foilages and the little detail Lilly pads. The staffs are all amazingly attentive, friendly and would go out of there way to accommodate. The morning breakfast that was included is nothing but 5 stars, everday was something different. The resort offer a few water activities that was also included in my stay. This was by far one of my best tavel, I shall return!

The Tree Tops restaurant was so overrated and overpriced. I have never been so bored having a meal spread out over 2 hours 20 minutes. The hotel is not friendly for elderly or disabled clients. There are so many trip hazards getting into your room or moving around the onsite restaurants.

We booked Anantara Lewana for our honeymoon. Since the moment we arrived, we didn't want for anything. The pool suite was incredible, the breakfast was delicious and catered for everyone. All the staff were so kind and attentive and the pool gents were always there before you even realised you needed them. We could not fault our stay. There were so many little gestures, like a honeymoon reception with cake and swan towels, valentines chocolates which were delicious and a special cake when we dined at Tree Tops. It has been wonderful. Thank you so much to everybody that looked after us. The Campbells.

Let me first say, I am not the person to leave a review. However, my wife and I have been talking about this property everyday since we left. The staff is wonderful and really helps to make the overall experience amazing. I can’t find enough good things to say about the cleanliness of the property as a whole. Book this property and enjoy a 5-star luxury treatment, truly wonderful.

A good location just a few min outside of Central Samui where all the shopping and restaurants are. Taxi's come by often so finding a ride is really convenient. The customer service is excellent and the private beach and pool are big enough to be comfortable in your own resort.

A lovely property, but the highlight is truly the staff. They are delightful, welcoming and helpful. By the time we left many of them felt like family. Did I mention the included breakfast? It’s fantastic. Dishes from many regions of the world.

Property is beautiful and set a bit away from the crowd by Cheweng beach. Staff were extremely nice and welcoming.

Incredible service for our honeymoon

We arrived at Anantara Lawana after a stressful day of travelling, and within two minutes the stress had completely melted away! The service was impeccable from the minute we arrived, all of the staff were so polite and they couldn't do enough for us. Our room was stunning (we stayed in one of the pool suites) and the facilities were excellent. The food was delicious - if you're visiting for a special occasion I would highly recommend dining in Treetops restaurant - incredible food in the most beautiful setting. A visit to the spa is also a must. Don't hesitate to book this hotel!

Amazing! The staff is unbelievable, never experienced such a level of dedication and professionalism, they were available since we arrived to the hotel until the checkout! The staff at the beach is from another planet! Amazing! Helpful! Respectful! The breakfast is delicious and very different day after day! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Fabulous Resort

Our stay at the Anantara, Chewang was fabulous, and the Staff went out of their way to help you in anyway. The rooms were immaculate, and well apportioned, and like the rest of the resort, well kept, albeit starting to show wear and tear. Breakfast was well organised, and on the better end of the scale for this type of resort - good choice of western and orientalist cooked foods, fresh pastries, great selection of fruit and continental choices. Restaurant style and food was exemplary and the Treetops restaurant was out of this world, but pricey. Overall, I would definitely visit again, as the Anantara delivered on all of its promises

It was amazing stay - the room is big (pool access Vila) I liked the outside shower 😂, we had it all in the room even a bag for the beach , flip flop they thought about it all . very helpful staff In everything we wished to do Faby you are great . The cooking lesson was a lot of fun , thank u Adam and his assistant.

Sunny was very helpful and the service of housekeeping and all around was wonderful. We had the best 2 bedrooms villa on the private beach it was amazing. The only thing they need renew the wood floor outside, and all the rest inside the rooms are just perfect.

Very friendly and courteous staffs. Very good all around, can’t go wrong with it. Not a big fan of partially open bathroom though.

A true luxury resort. The staff is very courteous and hospitable with minute attention to details. Indian food station at the breakfast buffet was amazing. Vipin is a great chef and truly stands out. On the downside, Indian food is not on the menu for lunch and dinner. Hopefully with more indian tourists returning back to Phuket, they can expand the menu.

After 10 days, we had a marvellous time. Without a doubt the staff are sensational compared with stays we’ve had in other compatible hotels. Would highly recommend this hotel, it’s quiet, comfortable and if you get a chance walk into the treetops restaurant for an exceptional night out

We stayed in the room with a private pool and it was fantastic. Incredibly comfortable room and very relaxing setting. Due to the orientation of the room we didn't get much sun, but when it was so hot this wasn't a problem. The tree top restaurant served fantastic food. The service at the whole hotel was superb.

Great hotel

This is a truly delightful hotel with friendly attentive staff. The rooms are very spacious, clean, with the most comfortable beds. It is set on a slight hill by the bay so there is a incline on all pathways but the hotel operate a golf buggy service which can take you anywhere on the resort if walking in the heat is too much. 10/10 for this hotel

Anatara is one of the best hotels that I have visited in Thailand. The staff is very courteous and hospitible. The food was outstanding and everyone was very accomodating.

Anantara Lawana: Above and Beyond

Fantastic Koh Samui resort. We stayed in a gorgeous pool villa perched above Chaweng Beach and the normally aquamarine waters of the Gulf of Siam. I say “normally” because we suffered through a monsoon for the first few nights of our stay and the offshore churn and cloud cover left the waters grayish. But not to despair, the staff was fantastic and the room romantic and we enjoyed wonderful room service meals. For the final night of our stay we were able to enjoy a spectacular meal in a fairy tale setting in the resort’s Tree Top restaurant. Nestled amongst the branches of a huge banyan tree, the restaurant’s eight platforms provide great intimacy and romance to enhance the culinary delights offered by the great chef and his seasoned staff. I want to single out our room liaison, Pim. She and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant stay despite the stormy weather and the inevitable constrictions imposed by Covid pandemic protocols. I highly recommend the Anantara Lawana. It is strategically positioned and exceptionally well run and managed.

Terrific private pools in plunge pool rooms and villas. Very good breakfast. Tree Tops restaurant is spectacular. Other dining options were not as exciting. Overall a very nice experience and close enough to the "action" that you don't need to stay at the resort 24/7. Even during COVID 19 Pandemic, the staff were extremely warm and welcoming - they tried to make guests feel as "normal" as possible, while still implementing extra hygiene/cleanliness precautions. A slightly longer Happy Hour would be a great addition!

Five night stay

We stayed for 5 nights. It is a very comfortable hotel with friendly staff & very good restaurants. Our room was very nice. The only downside was the pool area was rather busy. It is unfortunate many guests (even at a 5* hotel) reserve beds with towels, even when they disappear for a considerable time for other activities.

Pleasant resort in a good location. Beach is nice and staff are lovely.

Positives: We had the plunge pool room which was excellent layout and it was very private. This hotel offered the best breakfast our of all hotel we have stayed in. Excellent staff. Negatives are: Checkin was slow and disorganised. I have raised this with the hotel already and the issue was address promptly. There are a lot of mosquitos around the plunge pool room. Overall we would recommend this hotel and return.

Relax before traveling more of the world

upon arrival no one was outside to help, but then a gentleman helped me bring my stuff inside ... after arrival a lady who I was communicating with prior to arrival she failed to tell me the elevator was broken but was adamant about taxi service then... she was rude and I asked to speak to the supervisor who never came to talk to me because she was too busy... I decided to stay at the hotel because i am hurt and they upgraded me... the bath tub wasn’t that clean I had to clean it before using... the location is great... but no wonder why they haven’t gotten an award in two years because they are lacking the simplicity of love and care they were wanted me to give energy to the accident I had 10 days prior... instead of concentrating what the guest needs and why people stay at 5 star places... this is really a 3 star hotel.

Great location on the beach.

Location is great, but rooms need to be refurbished. Doors are out of order and noisy. Shower head are broken, house keeping is poor, response is slow, check in and out very slow , restaurant are not value for money, but all in all the location covers for all defaults.

Best hotel in Koh Samui

This hotel was amazing! I had been to Koh Samui before but staying at this gorgeous hotel made my stay so much better. The hotel is beautiful, rooms really well appointed. The service is out of this world. Best breakfast buffet I have ever seen. Their restaurant Tree Tops is outstanding. I didn't want to leave. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

Me and my husband stayed at Anantara for our honeymoon. The staff was extraordinary as they paid very close attention to detail when dealing with us. The room with private plunge pool was perfect for us. The breakfast spread was very big and the food was so delicious! We visited the Tree Top Restaurant for a remarkable multiple coursed meal. Our room's AC stopped working on our last night, the hotel staff was quick to send someone to take a look. They were unable to fix the issue and upgraded us to a beautiful and larger suite with a big pool! We were appreciated of their generosity. We would definitely recommend this resort and consider staying at their other locations as well.

Amazing

Our experience was so good, the crew was so kind and gentle and we never forget the warm welcome. Amazing breakfast and thee pool located in perfect view.

The resort is beautiful! The location is close to town for shopping and restaurants and 10 minutes from airport. Much thanks to Bee and the rest of the staff for making our stay wonderful and memorable!

The hotel is Very well maintain, the staff are great and give you a intimate feeling even it is a huge resort. The room we received was the last one in the resort, far far away from the beach and pool. I tried my best to change the room even by upgrade the room type with no luck.

The accommodation was great especially recommend the pool access villas. Service and staff were all great. The beach was slightly disappointing as was the busy set up at breakfast.

Relaxing Retreat

Had an amazing and very relaxing stay. Staff were amazing from check-in to check-out. Real exceptional service with staff going out of their way to help. Rooms are very comfortable, quiet, spacious and clean. Will return.

Beach holiday

The room we were given was next to the maintenance building by the road. We had booked the “garden view” room and there was no garden view. A trainee had shown us to the room and I had said I wasn’t happy with it and wanted to change. Not sure if she understood me. After waiting 30 minutes or so I went to the front desk and the duty manager arranged another room. Rooms are nice. Water pressure for bath was good but the shower was not. Also the water was turned off for repairs on one of the mornings- assuming it was unscheduled repair as no prior warning. They did leave a dessert in our room to say sorry for the inconvenience. Not sure how Long it had been sitting there as we were out all afternoon and back later that night. Happy hour is good and breakfast is good. Food very expensive at the hotel so we walked to other restaurants further down the beach. Nice pool and lovely beach but be careful of sea urchins in the water.

3rd time at this property. We had a great stay with our one year old this time. Staff amazing as always and the property itself was in excellent condition. Can't wait to return.

Staff was great and the room was lovely. However our room had termites in it so we had to switch rooms. The resort did send a bottle of wine for the inconvenience, but I’ve stayed at other resorts that offer an upgrade for less.

Serenity & walm welcome staff. 3 nights here at ANANTARA LAWANA was blissfully experience, extremely recommend for those who prefer true vacation. The property was perfect than we expected, since we had neutral experience at ANANTARA Vacation Club at Phuket before. Khun Sunny was very helpful, we arrived hotel earlier before 2 pm which our plunge pool suite was not ready yet, but he did his best to findout the available room for us before that time. Khun Yui at Ocean Kiss restaurant was so nice, she always welcome us with big smile and caring. Although, there were minor detais such as room decor defect, less meat menu & no real juice for breakfast buffet, and quite old gym, we would give TEN out of TEN to this hotel!! To property management, please help pass our gratitude to Khun Sunny, Khun Yui, and many staffs there (we do not remember some). Lastly, we shall return and keep this hotel as our favorite list. This was our first stay at an Anantara property with our two boys and I must say that the staff is simply sensational ! attentive staff all over, especially the breakfast team, bellboys, housekeeping and even security. Newly built complex of apartments and villas with beachfront access. Amazing breakfast buffet which runs from 6.30am to 10.30am and has everything from dim sum to full english to curry and an amazing array of fresh fruit and cakes. Eat well here and you won't need lunch! Staff are amazingly friendly and very helpful.

Gr8 property and location. Staff is very humble and helpfull. Pool is good, rooms are very good.. Beach activities make your stay even more enjoyable.

Excellent stay

I had a splendid stay with my best friend in Anantara. The location was perfect, situating close to Chaweng beach, the busiest and crowded town. The location was convenient yet not too crowded. The hotel room was clean and tidy with everything we need for our stay including a portable Wi-Fi pad. The hotel staff were nice and friendly. Will definitely come back if I had a chance next time.

The Anantara Lawana is a beautiful beachfront resort with lovely rooms and grounds. The food is not the best and you’re better off eating the town.

Pros - beautiful hotel and grounds - lovely pool and setting - delicious restaurant and breakfast + gluten free awareness and options - amazing spa - best couples package - very high quality - enjoyable cooking class - attention to detail including mosquito netting on the beds - very friendly staff, very nice :-) - complementary champagne and cake for our honeymoon- very thoughtful! Cons: - expensive restaurant compared to others around - spa very expensive - cooking class - the instructor was the chef and she was very kind but she shouldn’t have run the first part of the package (market tour and temple merits) her English isn’t really there and it’s hard to gain anything of value from it. The cooking class with her is fine as her English level is enough for it. - Sunny (one of the staff) at first gave a great impression but he set us up with a ferry to koh phangan plus group taxi with pickup and it was 350bhat a person - we found out we could have taken a nicer ferry that was less run down for 200bhat plus a private taxi for this same price which didn’t leave us with a good impression. - we did laundry and it was sooo expensive as we found we could get nearby a kg of clothing for 50bhat here it was 50 bhat per item (depending obviously) - 2nd night we stayed our room smelled so strongly of smoke it woke us up. We guessed it was something anti mosquito but it was overwhelming and bothersome. - beach wasn’t very nice

We were recently on our honeymoon and stayed in the sea view pool villa. Let me start by saying the staff and property are A1. The spa to the other facilities at this property were good. We did have an incident with a broken ac and wifi the second day but the staff was quick to rectify the issue. Do not feel shy to ask for the buggy rides to/from room as at night time it maybe hard to navigate. Shout out to Noong at the concierge who went above and beyond in getting our tour sorted.

Don't Book if you are looking to enjoy the beach

While the hotel is technically on the beach, the beach stretch outside this hotel is the dirtiest across the island. There are boats parked outside (refer to image below) emitting diesel fumes On the plus side, property is good and clean. Staff is generally friendly but communication is an issue (more so than some of the other resorts we've stayed in)

Amazing few days, villa with private pool is well worth it - room and bathroom are beautiful and pool is lovely. Staff are great and F&B can't be faulted - wonderful stay, will be back!

I’d give this place 3.5 out of 5. The staff is excellent and very accommodating and the breakfast included with the room is great. However the pictures online make the pool and beach area look a lot bigger and picturesque than reality. The pool is decent but the beach is small and I didn’t really want to put my feet in the ocean there.

Stunning scenery

Beautiful setting on a quiet side of the beach. Friendly, helpful staff are always on hand to help out. Only a five minute drive from the main Chaweng strip. We had a plunge pool room which had a lovely outside space.

Superb Resort!

Anantata Lawana was a beautiful place! We stayed in a pool villa and it was gorgeous. The breakfast spread in the morning was great with lots of options for vegetarians. They also had a great fireshow and BBQ on the beach twice a week. We preferred this Anantara location over the Bophut one because of the uniqueness of the rooms (less of a standard hotel feel) and closeness to Chaweng Beach. The hotel staff was very pleasant and friendly as well! The manager Joao greeted us on the second night at a cocktail hour and ensured our stay was going well. We also loved the spa and felt great after a massage. The only downside was that some of the staff was quite pushy with the timeshare offer and tried to convince us to attend the 90-minute presentation several times during the week, even after we indicated we were not interested. Otherwise, it was a lovely place! We would definitely come back here again.

Beautiful hotel with a small problem

We had a lovely and relaxing 7 nights in this beautiful beach side resort. It was a really special week with great food, drinks and most importantly service which was out of this world. Our only problem was that our room had a smell of sewage (room 302 for info). The hotel were already aware of the problem and let us know that some other rooms had a similar problem. They replaced lit candles a couple of times throughout the trip to mask the smell. This is no fault of the lovely staff working at the resort but should be fixed by management who are very clearly aware of the issue.

Run away, don't go there, Worst EVER!!!!

1.Lobby full of mosquitoes and fans only on the couch not at the chair where you actually speak with the staff! 2.The most dirty beach I every saw! 3.Bathroom Shower drain is blocked! Called them to clean it and they told me they did, guess what! They did NOT! 4.You cannot plug your charger in the outlet wall! You need to call them to show you a "trick" how to do it! 5.Went to their library to read some news and the AC was not working and the library full of humidity and mosquitoes! 6.They recommend for me and my wife for our anniversary dinner to go to Happy Elephant Resturant as one of the best; it is literately one of the worst between all its neighbors! I think they have a deal with the restaurant! 7.They cleaned our coffee cups in our bathroom sink! with no soap! 8.For the Thursday Night Show our anniversary table was the last one despite informing them. Then the table next to us just came and they did not like it and they actually moved them to the first row! We tried the same thing with no luck! 9.Convinced us to take private car from the hotel and it will do whatever we want including safari. After we started the trip the driver told us that’s not true! When we told them we're leaving at 3PM they said ok without saying it might be really late for you (NO ADVICE AT ALL!) which we ended paying for 6 hours and used only 2! 10.We asked to speak to the manger 3 times with no luck and I know he might reply here with only apologies and nothing else!

Wonderful stay in Koh Samui

Excellent stay. We stayed in a pool access villa which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool was very nice. There was plenty of privacy. We’d definitely recommend staying in either a pool access villa or a sea view villa. The plunge pool villas seemed a bit to boxed in for our liking. Staff was very courteous and helpful, however they generally spoke fairly poor English which made it pretty hard to get advice and to converse about possible activities and excursions that we were considering. It was also tricky to get help on things that were not a standard routine. Breakfast was amazing.

Perfect

It was a perfect vacation and the hotel staff were to thank for that, the service was excellent and the food was great. Our room was always spotless and the beach was beautiful. The fire show was very entertaining and our kids loved it. I would recommend the Tree Tops restaurant for fine dining .. a bit pricey but good value for money The location is a 2 minute drive from Chaweng market which was just perfect for us. We were with our 2 kids 5 and 8. I would recommend it for families if they plan to go on day tours and excursions because it was lovely to come back to a relaxing hotel after a full day of activities and the kids were always happy to go back to the pool in the room which gave us time to relax guilt free! The beach offered free kayaks and life jackets which added to the kids fun as well as that lovely little boat that came to the beach to sell fruit at market prices. We had a very nice stay at the resort. This place fit very well for family and couples.

Nice hotel on a quiet stretch of beach.

Really enjoyed the hotel facility but the prices in both restaurants were jacked up. The breakfast buffet which was included was quite the spread but we tried to avoid eating or drinking much otherwise at the hotel because it is so much cheaper outside the resort.

Anantara Lawana

The resort is very near the airport , about a slow 10min drive and it is not difficult to find. It takes about 10min to get down to Chaweng Shopping area as well. The bophut shopping area is also not that far away about 10km off by road. In the immediate vicinity there isn't much - a convenience store , a nice new massage shop, a tour agent office across the road from the resort. The ananatra resort ambience is present. However the pool villa will do better if there is a bluetooth speaker provided. There are stagnant pools by the walk paths which I feel maybe breeding grounds for mosquitoes. There is no source for new water to flow in. I stayed for 5 nights so got bored with the breakfast spread. Was surprised Thai Milk tea is not available. The self help noodle stall was good but can do better if its not the same meat addition , or the same 2 types of noodle choice every day.

Wonderful place

celebrated my birthday here, and what a great choice. Staff were friendly the premises were clean and tidy. The breakfast was awesome, great selection and service was impeccable. The staff even went above and beyond by coming to my room to deliver a birthday cake and sing for me. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks Anantara!

Good but not great!

We wanted a relaxing holiday stay, but didn't really get it. The two main issues that spoilt our stay are: 1) Room quality - It seems like quite a while since it's last renovation. The room was poorly lit. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was loud, with no controls and constantly leaking. The bathroom had no extractor fan so it was hot and smelled of damp. 2) The pool area - We found a severe lack of respect by some guests on the house rules and consideration for other guests, with the hotel staff to polite to do anything about it. For example, a family with young boys played frisbee by the pool area and in close proximity of the sun beds. One time the frisbee hit my wife but the parents of the children didn't even tell them to stop. Shortly after they hit another guest on the back of the head but carried on playing. A very impolite family. This is just one example of the many rude guests we found at the hotel. The standard of facilities and types of guests make the hotel feel very much like a 3 star establishment.
