A very quaint hotel. This was beautifully maintained. The room was very comfortable. Overall an amazing visit 12/12/2024
Beautiful view. I would definitely go back there
This is an old building, with old building charm. We loved the old elevator and its musty wood smell, charming! Staff were all great. No lounge area or bar. Our room overlooked the Vritjhof Square. A bit noisy at 4am when a few drunks were singing enthusiastically! Room was comfortable, no hairdryer. We had breakfast at local cafes which was good.
Excellent
Really impressed with this Hotel, rooms had plenty of space and were well equipped. The hotel was centrally located and the staff were very obliging. Local restaurants were plenty and reasonable.
Great
Quirky but great!
The hotel is situated right on the main square close to the shops, restaurants and sights. It is about a 25 minute walk from the train station, but its flat and pretty much a straight line. Loads of individual, quirky, art-deco features, from the lift with seats, to fabulous movie posters. We had a superior room with a fantastic view of the square, to watch the hustle and bustle of the restaurants, tourists and bars. Bathrooms have been modernised and updated, free Wi-Fi, tasty and fresh buffet style breakfast. ALL of the staff were lovely, particularly those at breakfast. Loved this hotel.
Very nice art deco hotel very comfortable and lovely smart new bathroom
Loved how near it was to the Vrijthof, as we were going to an Andre Rieu concert. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. However, our friends were staying in room 405 and found that the bathroom was very small, with hardly any room to manoeuvre between the toilet and shower door. This room is really only suitable for very slim people.
Lovely stay
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Great location, central for enjoying everything Maastricht has to offer and perfectly placed for the Vrijthof Andre Rieu concerts. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we arrived an hour before our check in time not expecting our room to be ready and it was , so that was a great bonus. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had plenty of space in a deluxe room and a large bathroom with a really good shower and plenty of hot water. Air conditioning was very good when we needed it. Breakfast in the spacious dining room was good with enough choice for us, friendly, cheerful and helpful staff and it was all very relaxed. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will definitely return.
Perfect location, very lovely staff and a great br
Perfect location, very lovely staff and a great breakfast too. What more could you ask. There is a supermarket just 2 doors away "ah" = Albert Heijn The room we had 582 was magic, a window opening to the main square and such beautiful views of the church and 50 metres from the main street with hundreds of shops there and in every side street. Just 5 min walk to the market square too. We had many good restaurants also within a few minutes stroll. Every cathedral, basilica, and sights like the Hellport (old city gates) are within easy walking distance. A special thanks to Nicki & Giorgia, who took great care of us.
Big shoutout to the nicest receptionist during our European adventure!!
Wonderful location, helpful staff, and convenient breakfast.
Excellent
Great room, clean, great service
We had a lovely stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However if you are looking for a modern space, this is not the hotel. The rooms are basic and old.
Great hotel, fresh rooms, airconditioned, and friendly staff. A good place to stay for visiting Maastricht - right in middle of everything. Price is good, quality excellent - it’s great and I’m happy I picked it!
Na
Mooi en goed hotel
I loved the hotel and we got the room that faced the Christmas market which was a bonus. The breakfast was great (although a bit pricey but very convenient) and my favourite was the lift. I really can't fault anything. It is extremely central and while we didn't really explore the area, it was really nice to be in the centre. The room was spacious, large TV, large bathroom, we had the balcony as well. The Receptionists were very helpful with booking the taxis for us and phoning up when one was a bit late. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would also return if I travelled here again.
Cool place and great location
We paid approximately £250 for one night, all there advertising leads you to believe you will have a room overlooking the square, definitely not the case when you arrive. We arrived after check in time to be told our room would not be ready for another half hour, i said that’s fine as our room overlooks the square, we do not have any rooms that overlooks the square, I challenged him, again he said the same but louder, he then said I will now give you another room with a upgrade, the room was no better that you would get in the Uk from travel lodge for £50 a night. The room we had was on the 4th floor and later when we returned to it the keycard would not work so I went down and had it recharged but that didn’t work so went down again and was give two further cards and neither worked so my wife went down this time and we managed to get in. Later my wife required a Uk adapter so I went down and asked if they had a loan one, no came the reply but I will sell you one for €10, with no choice I had to pay the £10. The bed was ok and the room was clean. Would I stay here again, NO
Second time staying at this hotel…fantastic location. Love the quirkiness of this place, staff are fantastic, wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Everything was lovely. The concierge was helpful and the location convenient.
Centre nearby. Lots of shops, restaurants and terrases. Good vibe.
very central
the elevator was broken for days, not very pleasant. Staff helped us to move us from the 4th floor to the 1st. overall pleasant hotel
Amazing location and accessibility to everything. Convenient, well maintained and helpful staff. We had a few issues with our room upon checkin, but the staff was very accommodating, understanding and helpful in finding a solution and made several extremely generous gestures for making up the inconvenience. VERY impressed with the unexpected customer service beyond call and duty! Also great suggestions from the friendly multi-lingual (impressive!) night manager regarding dining and sightseeing tips! Highly recommend and we will definitely return!
Lovely hotel in a spot on location.
What a find! Lovely hotel, location for the vrijthof you could not get any better. Centre of old town, walking distance to everywhere. We walked around the sights, returned for a rest and drink, then set out again. Car parking arranged in secure commercial park just across to road. Room large and so clean, lift to floors makes suitcase carrying easier. abreakfast was tasty, all fresh, full continental with english options available. covers all tastes. The staff in the hotel were excellent, always happy and smiling. Really can't think of any negatives, for what we wanted in a hotel it delivered Thank You
Had a small issue with safe and Shower but was sorted quickly as usual staff very friendly and welcoming
I LIKE ALL OF IT.
The location is good but in no way this hotel is a 4 star! The heating was set at 30 degrees in both rooms we have booked, and in both rooms we can hear the water flowing for the whole night! The hotel is under staffed and only one on duty in the evening! The computer system was down during our whole stay and our bill was written by hand. Compared the experience with the price we have paid, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.
Disabled access
A ramp would add that little bit extra to a first class hotel as access unsuitable for anyone with disability
Very good except for one
Everything, except for a female staff who was in charge on the evening of 19 October, was very good. I asked her whether I can borrow a wine opener. She said sharply “No, we don’t have any as we don’t have a restaurant inside. You can check with the supermarket, but I don’t know.” The hotel’s brochure says “All other alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages can be bought at the front desk.” So, if you order a bottle of wine, she definitely will say “Here is your wine. We don’t have an opener. You can check with the supermarket.” For sure.
Room is small but other than that, all was ok
Bedroom was extremely small, even for the hotel's location. You literally couldn't pass by properly between the bed and the desk in front of it. Other than that, service was good and overall very clean. Breakfast not that vast but it had all we needed.
Great room plenty of space stairs are a bit steep but wasn’t a problem
Situation in the centre of the city Room was a bit small
Passable
The room size was inadequate due to the large furniture leaving no space to unpack suit cases .It was necessary to use the remaining floor space which was very inconvenient . The incease in price for the room on the evening of the concert was not justified and was unreasonably high at 246.88 € considering the cost for the previous 2 nights at 90 and 69.85 respectively
Excellent location for the Andre Reiu concerts and for exploring Maastricht
Great experience from check in to check out. Very nice hotel right in the middle of the city, very friendly staff. Stayed for 2 nights and will be back again
I was early in the hotel at 11 am and wanted to go shopping before check in because check in is at 2 pm. Surprisingly the room was ready already at 11 am. Friendly staff. Very nice room with view on Vrijthof was given to me. Very clean room, good breakfast. Hotel super location. I think the best location you can get. Enjoyed my stay. Thanks Amrath du Casque Hotel.
Location is great, breakfast is average , old building ...
Good location, iffy service
Location is very good. Beds comfortable. There was a faint smell of sewage from the bathroom and our sink backed up – even after we managed get it drained, the scent lingered. I was not happy with the level of service as they were quite unaccommodating but I don't imagine that's always the case. I would recommend for the value, location, and comfort; assuming you don't have plumbing issues or an actual customer service need that will likely go unsolved, you'll have a very comfortable time.
Very nice staff, good hotel and good breakfast. The location is also very good
Nice hotel in a good location. Noisy on weekend nights until about 1am. Not apparently above or next to a bar or club but music could be heard quite clearly. Maybe request a higher floor?
Nice room good staff good location great night life
Great location. Close to restaurants and shops. Staff is extremely welcoming.
A very young inexperienced receptionist on duty when we arrived. There was a problem with the room we were given and we were asked to pay when we had paid already. Both of these were resolved eventually.
Great location but that’s about it
The hotel is in a great spot and the rooms are comfortable but the breakfast is poor for the price so we opted for the nearby McDonalds. The rooms were not particularly well cleaned - we found hair grips and tablets on the floor of our room which were not ours. The staff were mixed - generally the ladies were helpful but there was one male member of staff who was grumpy with everyone which wasn’t great. Would recommend on location alone.
Right in the centre
Excellent location, near the square and excellent shopping. Big, clean light room. Friendly staff.
Mediocre
Not a 4* hotel , lobby , such as it is, very dated. Rooms slightly better. No mirror near any outlets for ladies to use blow dryer! Dry in the dark? We arrived around 1:00 and despite our reservation saying 2:00 check in , we were told our room would be available between 2 and 3. Okay fine. We returned at 2:30 and had access to our room at that time. Decent enough stay , just a bit underwhelming.
Perfecte locatie.
Vlakbij het Vrijthof voor het concert van André Rieu.
short break
ideal position for touring Maastricht. staff were exceptionally helpful. hotel does not have any lounge facilities other than main reception area.
City centre hotel. Good location
All good x all good x all good X. Breakfast was a bit expensive.
Great place
Loved the hotel, great location with incredible staff. I truly recommend this very nice and little hotel in the heart of Maastricht
Great location
Perfect location and easy to get to. Nice parking and a good rate. 1 minute walk from the man square. Well looked after old hotel.
Perfect location, room was a little small but had everything we needed, good value for money.
Most comfortable mattress ever in a hotel! Very close to both Market squares.
Conveniently located hotel
Nice hotel, very centrally located. Beds were great and lots of pillows. Free coffee on your way out in the morning (or whenever). Great place to stay for a few days.
long weekend in Maastricht, what a great place
Maastricht has something around every corner. Very international and very comfortable for tourist of all ages and capabilities. The pleasant surprise was the value for money for food and drink compared with anywhere near Amsterdam. We will return for sure
Not too bad
Shower was a bit dirty, room small, but functional... The far superior 'eye' hotel next time for me
Don't be fooled by pictures, two stars at max.
+ Very good location + Nice staff - Two stars hotel advertised as four - Water flow sound trough the pipes all day/all night - Horrible bad mattresses - Expensive parking site, 30 EUR or more I usually never let negatives but check the picture of my "upgraded room" so you can judge yourself . I also get the same "upgraded room" treatment in Amsterdam Amrath Grand Hotel so I believe this is part of their marketing, in Maastricht I got the mansard room in Amsterdam the basement room, I'm really upset...
Our graduation stay
Helpful staff. Old hotel at the Vrijthof with charm. Warm enough even for me.
Great location and friendly staff
Arrived to a warm welcome by Robin. Hotel is in an amazing location and our room had a balcony overlooking the Christmas market in Vrijthof square. Breakfast was ample and again had a great view of the market square. Overall excellent stay and would go again.
Nice hotel overlooking the beautifulcity square
You get a very warm welcome at check-in, All of the staff are very pleasant and have excellent English and French language skills. The rooms are spacious and modern and very clean, Try to get a room overlooking the Vrijthof - it is beautiful by day and stunning by night.
My stay
Location is excellent. This is an old fashioned hotel but all things are in good order. You are right between the two squares in Maastricht. 4 doors from supermarket and next to countless places to eat and shop The room i had was small but for one person it was just big enough. I believe they have larger rooms. My room was very warm even though outside was 14 degrees Celsius. All attempts at lowering the room temp failed and it stayed around 24. in the end the cleaner left one window ajar for me. The bed was very soft for me but that's a personal choice. I was supplied with four pillows which were all very high as I prefer a flatter pillow a combination would have better. Other then that the place is fine. Regards
Five star location, 3.5 star hotel
The location couldn't be better for exploring central Maastrich. An easy walk to the train station. Had to wait 5 minutes for staff to show up at modest reception desk. Room was adequate and clean. Little things like no outlet for a hairdryer any where in proximity to a mirror.
hotel location perfect staff very friendly and helpful.
Very nice hotel in the major town square
Wonderful stay! Great small city..Took a great free 2 hour walking tour of the city. May lovely sights
Historical and comfortable hotel
All in one for me: historical, parking and located right in the old town. My room had a view on the square so very pleasant. The staff was courteous and very nice. Loved it!
Loved location and breakfast room. Staff very helpful.
Clean and Quiet, even during Carnival.
We stayed during Carnival. We had no idea Carnival was such an event in the Netherlands. The whole city throbbed with a mix of traditional Dutch music and house music. In spite of this, the hotel was pretty quiet, and the activity on the street did not make it past the front doors. This hotel was half a block from one of the squares where the main Carnival activity was happening, so this was fairy extraordinary.
We loved it !!!
The Hotel is next to a beautiful Square in central Maastrict and is a 1 minute walk from the the main shopping area. It is a classic well maintained "old world" building with plenty of charm. The staff were excellent and we wish we have planned to stay longer
Nice hotel right next to the Central Walk Platz
Very friendly and helpful front desk and breakfast staff. Several English speaking TV stations, quiet room, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. There are two areas to park your car. I parked in the enclosed parking garage right next door to the front of the hotel entrance, but it only has 3 stalls. Additional hotel parking is near by. There are at least two walk platz, this hotel is near the larger one with the cathedral. Many stores and restaurants. Near the river and train station.
Charming and full of character with great location
This hotel is full of character, starting with the lobby area which has a lovely old style lift. The decor still retains some of its Art Deco styling which I love and only adds to its charm. The bedroom was very roomy with a big comfortable bed and cotton bedding and lovely and warm. The bathroom again was spacious with a power massaging shower (no bath). The room did have tea/coffee making facilities but no fridge. WiFi was available and the room had a large flat screen tv. There was also tea/coffee/hot chocolate with biscuits available in the hotel foyer and the hotel offered a small selection of cold beers and soft drinks available to purchase. The hotel staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We often ate in our room and were supplied with crockery etc by the hotel staff. Whilst the hotel does not have a bar within its premises, there are plenty within 20 yards radius of the hotel offering a wide range of international and local cuisine and local drinks. Also, 2 doors down from the hotel is a small supermarket which offers fresh sandwiches, bakery and deli counter as well as beers/wines and soft drinks at reasonable prices and everything else you would expect in a small supermarket. There is lots to see here in Maastricht and this hotel offers the perfect location whether its for sightseeing, shopping or busiiness. I would definately stay here again.
Wonderful hotel near the town square
We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was elegantly decorated with Art Deco furniture and fittings. It overlooked the square. The two single beds, pushed together to make one, were very comfortable. The only complaints we had were that the heating unit, mounted on the wall near the ceiling was a little noisy, the sink showed signs of wear - some fairly deep gouges around the drain, and ice was a little hard to get, but that's very typical for European hotels.
Hotel in center of city Maastricht
Next to Vrijthof, exelent breakfast, very kind staff. Bathroom is to small. Water from the shower wets the floor with door of cabin closed. For asthma patients it's not a hotel to go too. Old hotel, but charming.
Very convenient location, clean, comfortable
Great location within easy walking distance to train station, shopping, historic sites. 1/2 block off of Vrijthof square. Our room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. The staff members were helpful and spoke excellent English. We found our room to be too warm when we got there and the receptionist had no problem giving us a second key card to leave in the room power slot so the A/C would continue running while we were out. Excellent breakfast. Would stay here again.
Convenient clean and comfortable in great location
The outside of the hotel does not look like much, but the room was clean and convenient and the location is great. I would definitely stay again.
City Break
Short holiday to attend Andre Dieu concerts.
Front desk man was so helpful. They go above and beyond with service.
Right in the city center, clean, comfortable room, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Very central
Nice hotel. Large room and bathroom.Staff excellent. Very clean and comfortable.Really central for everything. No noise when windows closed. Would use again.
I had a three day reservation. My assistant called in the evening of the first night to say that I would be arriving in the morning rather than that evening, but was paying for the room anyway, so they said no problem. I then arrived in the morning and found that my room had been given out and the hotel was sold out. I had reserved it a year prior, as this was a sell out week for Maastricht because of the Tefaf art fair. Their excuse was that the credit card number had been changed, but had no answer as to why they did not raise that when my assistant called the night before. Or why they hadn't e mailed me for an updated card number. To their credit, they called 7 or 8 places until they found a dump that could house me for one night. Shame on them.
Perfect spot!
This hotel was perfectly situated in the core of old Maastricht. It is an older hotel but very well maintained. You are basically steps away from numerous historic sites, shopping, excellent restaurants, cafes, and bars. There is even a movie theater nearby and a grocery store conveniently located on the same block. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the front desk, breakfast, and room cleaning. Oh, and the bed was sooo comfortable! I will absolutely return.
Worst hotel ever !!! should be 1 star hotel
If you want to enjoy this wonderful city, DO NOT !!! stay at this hotel.
Great hotel close to everything
Had a great experience at this hotel in Maastrict. The hotel rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast and wifi included in the rate is a nice bonus. The hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance of everything in Maastricht. Lots of sights, restaurants and shopping nearby. The front desk staff was also very helpful. We will stay here again. Bedankt.
Fine hotel in a Great Location
The best thing about the hotel was the location and service House-keeping provided a bag with fresh towels and toiletries when the do not disturb sign was in use which was a pleasant surprise
Comfortable Hotel, good location.
The Hotel was ideally situated for sightseeing and shopping in the lovely city of Maastricht. The room was comfortable with a modern bathroom and the staff friendly and helpful. The only problem we encountered was that our room overlooked a side street where the noise from a nearby Pub kept us awake until 2am on 3 of the 9 nights of our stay. This was during a spell of very hot weather when the revellers were outside on the pavements so this would not happen for most of the year. The Breakfast room overlooks the Vrijthof Square and the food was very good. I would certainly recommend this Hotel to friends and would stay there again myself.
A city break.
A few days leisure in a beautiful city.
Great location steps from the square. Wonderful!!
Location, location, location!!
This hotel is in the best location. Everything is on the doorstep.
Weekend Break
Excellent location and friendly staff. Room very small for 2 people and bathroom door badly located
Great two days in Maastricht
Very nice hotel, excellent location, the receptionist allocated us a room over looking Vitrhof Square which was great. First class staff an added bonus was the hotel has its own parking facility in the way of an underground car park, the cost was euro 23,but well worth it. The hotel is in the centre of Masstricht perfect for exploring the city by foot.Highly recommended.
Our stay
The lift was out of order !!
Central & Great value Hotel
A great central place to stay. Good to be able to book in early and have front door access for pick up/drop off by car. A pleasant 20 minute walk from the Train Station. Breakfast was fantastic. A good range of food. We really enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful Location!
This hotel was great with the exception of the 'noise factor' at nighttime. It overlooked the square which was beautiful, but it was noisy in the wee hours of the morning with people walking home. Also we were woken up with the smells from the restaurant underneath-- not bad smells, but strong food smells non the less. It was roomy and comfortable and the 'wait staff' were very accommodating. Also reasonably priced and a great location!
3 night break. Bed/breakfast
On arrival was shown to room by Martin an excellent member of staff. Sorry to say room too small as I had forgotten when u book via third person always have inferior rooms at hotels. Always book directly with hotel which we will do next time. Asked for upgrade and was shown to lovely room at back of hotel as the carnival was on and Martin thought it was be quieter for us. Very thoughtful. There was no bar or lounge at the hotel and parking was very expensive 22 euros per night I would say this is a very good three star but certainly in our opinion not a four star Location was excellent Breakfast each morning served by a fanominal lady Gloria? Who ran the kitchen and the dining room all alone. I am very surprised at this putting on one single person to do EVERYTHING The domestic staff also curtious making sure to ask each morning was our room ok. Just a handful of staff for a 4 star hotel...........don't think so.
I was kept awake at night time by the sound of water filling up in water tanks somewhere.
