Very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Thank you
Great place. It would be nice if they got a hot tub
Great location and kind staff.
Certain staff members could do better in terms of customer service. Breakfast and coffee was a little disappointing but plenty of basic food there. The barman at the rooftop came across a little rude at times, could be cultural differences though. Parking was an issue every night, no spaces left and if you get there later on in the evening we really struggled finding parking anywhere around the hotel. Overall we were left a little disappointed. Rooms are not soundproofed.
Good
Staff are very friendly Food not fresh sometimes Location is very good
The cherry on top!
After nearly a week of hiking in Madeira, I booked a stay at the Allegra as a treat to unwind and relax and it did not disappoint. The hotel is kept in impeccable condition, the staff are INCREDIBLY kind and helpful, breakfast was outstanding and the pool is beautiful. It is a little out of the way from the action in Funchal so I wouldn’t have wanted to stay the entire time here but if you’re looking for a place to get away and relax, this is for you.
We loved our stay at Allegro! The space was clean and modern. Amenities were great and the rooftop was awesome. Centrally located to all Madeira has to offer
We had a wonderful stay! The double balconies were a nice feature. Shower was hot and water pressure strong and the bed was comfortable. Conveniently located within walking distance of everything Funchal has to offer. Would stay here again.
Closed to the beach and a lot of stores. We took bus 1, 2 and 4 to the center Funchal (€2). The bus stop is close by and also took the aerobus to and from the airport. Only €6 per person, which is way cheaper than a taxi fee. Breakfast was very nice. They have a omelette station, fruits, bread and hot food selection.
Everything was great, except the onsite half-board. it needs to improve the dinner.
Great location, a room with a sea view breathtaking, a variety of food offered for breakfast and the staff offered excellent customer service. Overall a great experience at the Allegro Medeira hotel.
We stay for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. Guest services, cleanliness and breakfast buffet were stellar. Proximity to the island’s must-see locations was great. We rented a car and had no problem getting to all sites we set out to visit. On-site parking wasn’t available but we used nearby parking lot with meters that didn’t break the budget. The Lido Beach Club was a quick walk and availed us an afternoon of swimming in the open water as well as pools and deck-lounging. Plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance. A definite value!
Outstanding staff
Close to a gorgeous ocean promenade!
Staff were very helpful, polite. Always willing to serve with a smile.
Small rooms and bathrooms. needs a lot of upgrades the pool was dirty with black specs all around the pool area tile never cleaned.
10/10!
Amazing
Gem in the lido area of Funchal
Can’t fault this hotel from the easy check in till checking out. Staff were all superb from reception staff, cleaning, catering and bar staff. Every member we chatted to were very professional and polite and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, modern and had everything we needed during our stay. Room was cleaned when requested and I have to say the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on and pillows were top quality. I usually struggle to sleep whilst on holiday but every night I slept comfortably. The air con was great as well. In the room were various sized bath towels but also a pool towel which was an added bonus. Tea and coffee making facilities and also a hairdryer and a steam hand iron which we used plenty during our stay. We were on the 9th floor with a beautiful panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the City. We used both the poolside bar and rooftop bar numerous times during our stay and service was exceptional and plenty of drinks to choose from. The view and setting from the sky is something else. We enjoyed a nightcap (cocktail each evening before bed) During our stay there was live music on a couple of occasions which was well recieved. The hotel is situated amongst many restaurants and bars and close to Lido pools and seafront. We walked into the centre/marina area of Funchal on a couple of times which took around 25-35 minutes however there are bus stops right outside the hotel. Use Bolt app to order taxis.
The roof top and the DJ night!
Amazing
Amazing
Hotel it’s self was excellent but our room was noisy from the outside area
Such lovely, cheerful and helpful staff
Everything was wonderful. Excellent breakfast, all the staff extremely polite. We will certainly return.
Localização excelente - próximo a restaurantes e comércio. Dá para ir a pé ao Centro.
Had a very nice stay! Hotel was clean, super convenient location and staff was great.
We had a fantastic stay! The staff were super friendly, attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The room was spacious and spotless, with views over the sea - beautiful! The hotel is located near lots of great restaurants and has a bus stop nearby to easily get around Funchal. The car park is fairly small but we had no issues finding a space for three nights. We'd definitely recommend the hotel.
Comfortable and friendly hotel
Clean, comfortable room with safe. Nice view from balcony. Excellent breakfast, lots of choices and plenty of everything. Super helpful and friendly staff. Our flight was cancelled and we had to book an extra day and they gave us a breakfast box as we had to leave early. Airport bus stop nearby and area has plenty of dining and bar options. About 25 min walk to centre of Funchal.
Not As Advertised
Hotel was ok. The rooms were not sound proof as advertised. We heard coughing, the shower in the next room and talking every night. There were ants in the room, we were on the 9th floor, I also understand it is an island. There was hair in the bathroom under the sink on the ledge with the toilet paper. I understand bathrooms get the dirtiest, however long brown hair should he noticed and cleaned up. Staff were great, great location. Pool and bars and breakfast were also great.
A really easy hotel to move around Food above average Staff very friendly and efficient Our 2nd time staying there Roof top bar amazing views Plan to go back Very close to lots of restaurants Public transport And supermarket Would recommend 👌
Great place to stay, staff were excellent and friendly….25mins walk into Funchal or lots of buses…..good local restaurants and bars too….all good.
The staff at this hotel was all very welcoming and lovely.
Friendly staff. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed, Amazing breakfast! Would highly recommend staying here!
Fantastic
The rooms are very minimalistic, but we had a good time and the service at the hotel was Excelent.
Careles staff
Hotel was nice and clean but the service was atroucious. We were having our honeymoon trip to Madeira to celebrate the new years eve and watch the famous fireworks. The hotel provides guests with a rooftop that has quite spectacular view of Funchal and the fireworks. Appareny access to the rooftop on new years eve is limited to only guests that purchased their dinner. Staff failed to inform us about this policy and we ended up missing out. Yet the worst was the way staff handled the cab reservation. Not only they they made the original reservation that was inadequate considering traffic that night, the delay had mounted to 20 minutes and we were lucky to simply catch a cab on the street and make it to Airport at the last minute. There were multitude of other considetably smaller blunders during our stay. Overall, the main impression is that Staff has not the slightest idea of customer service. They are as much polite and nice to the guests as they are inept and slow. Suggestion to guests is to study their policies ahead of time and never to rely on their front desk for things that are time sensitive. Otherwise, location was terrific and the ocean view was excellent.
Perfect spot for exploring Funchal, surrounded by many restaurants and a 5 minute walk from the ocean - very hilly thu. Hotel closet needs longer hanging space and better coffee facilities in room
Great hotel with very nice staff and breakfast!. Close to everything!
Bra hotell i trevligt område. Utmärkt frukost.
Good value for money
I can't fault the hotel in any way but I ended up thinking it was a bit less than luxurious. It was modern and a bit clinical but our room was a good size with a sea view and breakfast was extremely good.
I had a beautiful room with a gorgeous view of the ocean and sunset. It was very clean. The staff was extremely helpful. The roof top bar was really nice too! I really enjoyed my stay.
Great service , clean , superb location with ocean view , very good breakfast
A nice hotel. The rooms are comfortable and adequate but there are only 2 small drawers in which to store your clothes. Also there is not really a closet to hang your clothes - only an open railing. Breakfast buffet was generally good although the orange 'juice' is orange flavoured water and the coffee at all machines is very weak.
Brilliant hotel for a chilled holiday
Great place to chill. Breakfast gives plenty to choose from and everything is spotless. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Walkable in to the old town. Alternatively numerous transport options. Roof terrace bar is a real bonus with great views while sipping a cocktail or two.
Location was top. At the reception staff was not that great, seemed uninterested by their work.Only that one person. They actually sent us a questionnaire to see how things were going, I mentioned it and they sent us free cookies and this person s attitude changed completely afterwards.
Modern hotel with great location
Nice hotel, good location with convenient parking. Photos online don’t do it justice. Great breakfast and surprisingly cheap rooftop bar. Lots of good restaurants nearby and there’s a bus stop next to hotel for easy access into the centre. Reception staff were helpful, housekeeping were hit and miss (taking towels, cups but not replacing). I’d definitely stay here again.
Nice staff beautiful room great location
The included breakfast was fabulous
Siisti huone, merinäköalan kera
Siisti huone, merinäköalan kera.
Very nice adult hotel with great access to waterfront and all kinds of restaurants / cafes / shopping.
The staff were wonderful. We stayed 1/2 board and were very pleased with food and the exceptional service. And this hotel is so convenient to the public buses and the magnificent cliff walk that is just a few 100m away. Fantastic island all around!
Short trip
Friendly service. Good breakfast. Location was good for what I wanted. Room was clean and functional
Wonderful staff!! Everything was great.
Ett fantastiskt boende
Ett mycket trevligt hotell med gångavstånd till det mesta. Frukosten var gudomlig. Vi kommer gärna tillbaka.
The hotel is immaculately clean, All the staff are well turned out and keen to help Thankyou
My husband booked this trip for us and then he was unabl to go. When I arrived on June 24, I discovered that he had booked the trip for July 25-28. It was a lot of trouble, but they were able to work with Expedia to figure something out. They were very nice and accommodating the entire time. The breakfasts were yummy. The view was lovely. I’d definitely recommend.
Wonderful location on the seaside, within easy walking distance from Funchal. The rooms are well thought out and tastefully decorated, the balcony with sea view a joy. The restaurant were we had breakfast and diner was well appointed and the food good. Overall, amazing value for money.
Good value
Good price. Clean and fresh feeling. Good breakfast and heating (too cold for air con when stayed). Room does not have much natural light - only from balcony. Some seaview rooms, including “panoramic”, do not have very good views - therefore cancelled a further stay which we had in mind. Near sea, but a few properties back. Lots of tourist eateries nearby and easily walkable into city.
The staff here were truly one of the best things about this place. Amenities were always brilliant. I stay in a sea view room which was perfectly cleaned and reset every day. Now I didn't try the evening food so I can't speak for it, but breakfast was perfect. I've stayed in a lot of hotel's and this place just had so much to offer for breakfast. I went to Maderia to hike and I could eat enough In the morning for my breakfast to last me until 6pm the same night. And that's with hiking 10-15 miles during the day. Thank you is all I can say. Awesome hotel, awesome location and just the nicest friendliest staff.
This hotel in Madeira is really well located, near many bars and fantastic restaurants. There is a great view from the roof top toward the sea - which I would highly recommend going to at sunset. One thing to note is that the elevators are very slow or not working, so we often walked up the 11 flights of stairs to get to the roof. The hotel had a great breakfast every morning, and the staff were very lovely! The room itself was clean, but basic. One thing I wish they had in the room was a proper closet or drawers to put clothes away. As we were there for a week, it very much felt like there was no where to put our stuff. Apart from that, the room was cozy and comfortable. Overall, this hotel felt like it was very good value for money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira!
This hotel is ideal for a stay in Funchal. Near lots of great restaurants and bars. Can walk everywhere easily. Sea just down the road. Hotel rooms are super clean and modern. The sea view suite is very spacious with comfortable bed, pillows and settees. Great extras provided like toothbrush/paste, shaver and cream and conditioner! (So many hotels only provide shampoo nowadays!). Breakfast is superb. Everything you can want. Great hot options and an egg chef. Fresh fruits and great continental options too- even a glass of fizz (or 2)! Didn’t have time to use the spa/gym/pool but looked good. The bar at the top is a lovely area to sit day or night for a drink. All the staff friendly and happy. Really a great value hotel for a top quality stay.
Great location. spotlessly clean. Great buffet breakfast. Very friendly staff. Lovely views of Funchal and the ocean.
We went for our honeymoon celebration and they laid out a lovely swan with rose petal display on our bed, as well as gifting us champagne and handmade cookies! The cleanliness of the room as well as after each clean during our stay was brilliant! The cleaners were respectful and didn't move our things (mostly), as we were a little worried about cleanliness due to covid. The fact that it's adults-only is so good! I love kids - but on a couple's holiday, it really is a positive! The breakfasts were always tasty. There was one morning we had to leave earlier than breakfast for a trip, and they packed us a little breakfast which was very sweet and surprised us! Lovely omelette lady! Kelly on the reception always went above what she needed to do to help us. Whenever we asked for restaurants to go to, she'd have a few up her sleeve, and she'd know which buses to take to different places as we didn't want to book too many tours. If her own knowledge wasn't up to scratch, she'd help search it on the computer for us. She always smiled and didn't get tired of us asking questions. Her colleague, however, wasn't so great. Maybe it was the language but she was a little older and her name began with "A". She never smiled and didn't help us. There was one time I needed to change my pillow as I may have had an allergic reaction to the feathers, and she said no, and that I'd have to wait for the cleaners the next morning. Thankfully, the male manager came to save me! Location was perfect!
Enjoy Allegro Madeira
Clean, comfortable room with nice balcony (sea view). Hotel is situated near the beach. Very kind and willing to help front desk girls - helped with tour company pick up arranging, gave city map and explained the route, printed out my boarding pass. Thanks them a lot! Broad choice of dishes at breakfast, especially good pastry.
A pleasant hotel
We had a pleasant two-week stay; the rooms were clean, spacious, and modern, with an impressive view of the ocean and Funchal (we stayed on the top floor). The staff was kind and professional. The breakfast buffet was a big plus with a large selection and some variation from day-to-day. The room had a small desk and comfortable chair; this made it comfortable to sit and write/work on a laptop, this was a key feature I looked for when choosing the hotel, and it worked well. The hotel itself was calm, but the road outside and restaurants close by made some noise in the daytime and evening, but it dwindled down around 2300 and was not a bother. It's a 30-ish walk to get to the town center, but it's a nice walk; taxies are also an easy and fast option.
EXCELENTE
Excellent value for money
Cannot fault this hotel or the staff only area that could be improved would be the evening buffet variety choices limited one meat one fish pasta or rice for mains
Great hotel to have a great getaway
Staff is lovely - very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfy - sometimes could hear a bit of hallway noises but nothing extrem. Only had the breakfast at the hotel which was very nice and rich. Bar on the 11th floor is very nice and has a great view. Hotel is locted in Lido - a bit of a touristic neighborhood in the city of Funchal so location is good but everything nearby is a bit tourist orientated. Would definitely recommend it to friends and would be happy to stay here again!
Excellent hotel
Everything is excellent. The room should be more isolated from the outside. We can hear almost everything that happens in the hallway.
Lovely hotel
Fantastic hotel. Loses marks as some of the in-room entertainment features listed didn’t exist, and would have been useful due to the curfew on the island.
Excellent value property - highly recommended!!
How well your room works for you depends upon the layout; ask to see the 1st floor rooms if you need a bit more space for luggage or children, and care more about ease of use than the views. The rooftop bar has the best view of all anyway. The bathrooms are a little small, but are efficient for one person at a time. My recommendations for most rooms would be the creation of a dual ~40x70 luggage rack with clothes bar (even those welded wire racks from IKEA could do). Having the clothes bar over the desk negates the purpose. A few more wall hooks, a second luggage stand, and a drying rack for the balcony would also be nice. High shelves could also be added in some out of the way places (or replace that awkward desk bar). The edges of the blackout curtains could have Velcro to close side gaps. I didn't use the TV, but also couldn't imagine needing a TV in Madeira. The breakfast bar was very good, with only minor differences or inconveniences from day to day, which F&B addressed on the spot. The front desk, F&B and maintenance staff all went out of their way at one point or another to make sure I had an enjoyable trip, once even going so far as to call the local hospital to ensure I was scheduled for a PCR test before my departure (the app was useless and I don't speak Portuguese). I also have to say, value means quality for money: Allegro did an excellent job for a very reasonable price, and it was very clear to see all staff working hard and taking excellent care of guests.
Visit
hetel is very nice, but with disadvantages: boring breakfasts, practically no vegetables. It was supposed to be netfix but it wasn't.
Lido central location
Super friendly staff from beginning to end. Excellent breakfast. Rooms have been renovated (within an old tower). Really good views from our rooms including great sunsets. Very nice breakfast with lots of variety. Location is right in the middle of everything so there’s lots to see and do.
Comfortable, quiet and relaxing.
Staff make you feel at home, all safety measures are in place and they dont really distract you from your holiday. 2nd stay in 4 weeks, and cannot real fault the hotel, good location for the lido, transport, restaurants and tourist offices. Room was good and cleaned daily, prefer a double bed, but had 2 single beds, slept ok. Great seaview (706). Ask at reception if you'd like to have a kettle etc. I like the food here, breakfast is a choice from a fry up to healthy. Dinner is always a surprise and is delicious. Hats off to the chefs and service staff. Pool area is nice, my 1 niggle, the music... plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It is an adult's only hotel, so can be quiet. Definitely stay here again when i go back. Thank you to all the staff at the Allegro.
the Staff were so friendly and helpful, the hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere and the location was great. Just an easy stroll into Funchal but regular busses just outside.
Rooms are very clean and breakfast is nice. Bit of a hill to get back to the hotel, ok if your mobile enough
Excellent
Excellent location, lovely quiet clean hotel with a fab breakfast and cocktail bar.
Good location. Breakfast is a strength. Recently renewed.
Great value hotel with excellent service
Excellent value hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location, fantastic sea views from the sea front higher floors. Food is very good and the rooftop bar offers great views in the evening.
Wonderful view, perfect accommodation, professional service, great location and easy access to public transportation. Very good for single travellers. No complaints whatsoever.
Convenience of location was exceptional. Rooms were small but clean. Staff were always helpful and friendly.
Good array of food options within a short walk from the hotel. Funchal town centre was a brisk 35 minute walk to town which was quite nice or there was the bus stop just around the corner from the hotel.
The hotel was beautiful. We had lovely rooms with amazing views of the ocean.it is really well situated with lots of good places to eat nearby and a nice walk to the city centre. Staff are so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed everything about it except for one small thing which was that pigeons come into the restaurant at breakfast. I am frightened of them so for me it was the only down side to an otherwise amazing holiday.
Close to restaurants and markets. Hop on buses and aero bus stops are just steps away.
I really enjoyed the rooftop patio and bar at night. It was a super way to end your evening. The breakfasts provided were outstanding.
Great location, pleasant front desk staff, beautiful sea view, close to public transit/taxis. Spa amenities limited. Took several times asking to use before steam room was turned on. Spa rooms very small.
Really nice, modern hotel. Had an spacious room with an amazing views. Nice and quiet too. I liked the area, with small convenience stores one minute away and plenty of restaurant options. Good breakfast.
Clean modern hotel with a boutique feel to it
The Allegro is a modern hotel, with a minimalist style giving it a real boutique feel to it. We stayed in a deluxe room, which featured a fridge and coffee machine which were a welcome feature. The hotel has a nice pool area and ample sun loungers. The breakfasts were excellent, catering for continental and cooked. The hotels location is near the lido area, yet only a short stroll into town (approx 20 minutes) or the number 1 or 2 bus at the stop outside the hotel will whisk you into town in no time. The rooftop bar provides great views of Funchal and they even had gas heaters and throws for the chillier evenings. Will definitely return and stay again.
Pleasant short trip
The hotel was in a central position for bars and restaurants. There is a forty minute walk to the marina in Funchal centre which is mostly flat but you need a good pair of walking shoes for the hills around the town.
A great hotel.
A good hotel. Friendly staff. Great breakfast, though I’m pleased I only chose Bed & Breakfast: others who chose Half Board said that the restaurant was pretty empty in the evening- and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area.
Breakfast was outstanding. View from rooftop bar was extraordinary. Location was good. Staff was very friendly.
Fantastic stay
The minute we arrived at the hotel it was luxury. A really enjoyable stay, great location plenty of nice restaurants and bars nearby and a short walk 15 mins to Funchal. Our room overlooked the pool and views of the sea. Excellent food it was different everyday for the evening meal buffet service and a large selection for breakfast hot/cold buffet choices. The little additional attention to detail. Sweets and water in reception and fizz at breakfast. All made it perfect. Thank you to all the staff they were very hospitable and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Modern adult only hotel, in great location
The hotel has been recently updated and has a clean modern feel. Good location close to many restaurants and a lido very close. We had a sea facing room with a a great bathroom with a walk in shower, only criticism of the room is the lack of space for storing clothes. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast, with gluten-free options
A basic hotel but tidy and clean
Tiles Madiera hotel is rated as 4 stars but doesn't really manage to achieve that. Although clean and tidy the rooms are quite basic with minimal storage - 2 small drawers and a hanging rail, meaning most clothes were left out on a nearby flat surface. We made the mistake of paying for the Sunday night tapas at the hotel, which was lukewarm, limited and the vegetable soup dish turned out to be full of fish which made my partner quite ill. We reported that to reception and they deducted the cost of her meal, although it still turned up on our final bill until I asked then to remove it again. Having said all that, the breakfast was actually quite good, with pastries, fresh fruit and hot items available.
Great position. Most staff (not all) are unsmiling, uncommunicative, unhelpful.
Relaxing hotel close to the sea and restaurants
The hotel was ideally placed for restaurants, a beautiful Lido and for transport to everywhere.
Great new and modern hotel
Modern new hotel with nice gym, pool, sauna. Convenient parking, good breakfast and wifi worked really well. Had nice balcony with ocean views.

The staff were very accommodating. We had 2 early morning hikes and they had breakfast for us to go!
