It was ok dated However the smell up in my room 23 was awful

I thought the stay was pleasant enough and the staff helpful. If I had to be completely honest there was overnight noise that detracted from a pleasant experience.

The Alcala units are rather dated inside, but they are clean, large and comfortable, and staff are very friendly. Would happily stay again.

Served purpose for overnight stay

Overall was good just had limited parking infront and was inconvenient when some one is having shower than no one can use loo.

Starting to age a bit but good value for money. Handy to town and good car parking. I'd stay again.

The property is very dated. The shower had small dots of visible mold. Parking was difficult if you want to park late afternoon or evening, there is a boat and trailer that seem permanently parked and a couple staying were using two car parks so limited spaces available.

Great friendly staff. Clean rooms. Handy to eateries, shopping and stadium.

Lots of room and a great kitchen area. Friendly host and great security. I arrived late in the day, so it would have been nice to have the door and windows closed earlier, as it made for a cool night. The shower was poor pressure, but I didn't get a chance to check this with the owner - there may have been an issue. Otherwise, comfortable, good sleeps, easy week!

Lovely grounds.very warm welcome from the host..lovely clean & spacious unit. A beautiful large bow made from our towels lay in base of shower.. Highly recommend..

Staff were fantastic but thats where anything good i have to say ends. Very dated property and im sure the stairs in the unit are unsafe. Not only are they narrow and oddly shaped they are very unstable feeling. Beds were uncomfortable, shower and kitchen had the basics however was damaged and dated, mold on the shower curtain and a poorly repaired light. Also no heating on fan in there. Not to mention the poor shower pressure. The owner seemed to have taken up quite a few parks in the limited car park.The list of cons definitely out weigh the pros. For the price point its very disappointing.

Although I arrived at the motel earlier than the check in time, they had a room available for me., even after the staff were all busy that morning after a huge number of guests were checking out.. On one occasion I couldn't open my room door but one of the staff immediately came to my rescue. Staff are fantastic.

A great stopover for a few days. Good location, everything you need. I enjoyed the morning paper. Thank you

Very spacious room, well furnished, close to restaurants & university.

Great size for the 5 of us, nice and clean and handy stroll into town. The internal staircase is realy steep ( fine if you are fit and able) which we all were. Really awesome tudor style place great for the $$$

Lovely place to stay Clean and quiet.But not enough parking space when full.Had to park on road overnight.

As an older person, with arthritic knees, found stepping into the high sided shrub a bit of a challenge. Otherwise found the unit very acceptable.

The stairs in the unit were too steep for older people. Toilet brush was disgusting had not been cleaned for a long time.

Good stay, as expected. Layout of double plus twin bed room was weird. Maybe running the beds parallel to each other would work better.

Helpful staff with local knowledge of where to go etc

A peaceful place to stay , great clean facilities . One suggestion you have trash bin and seperate recycle bin under sink .

All was very good apart from no elevator. I'm 77 years old with a bad knee therefore I was uncomfortable climbing 3 flights of stairs. I could have asked for assistance but I didn't. Apart from that it was very good.

The staff were most pleasant to deal with and the fact that the receptionist recognised me from a previous visit makes you feel very welcome.

Well equipped room but we wouldn't have wanted to use the loft area as the stairs were too quirky.

The services of staffs were good. The room condition was average with old facilities. The location was very convenient to city center.

What I liked was the helpfulness of the staff. I unpacked in the motel unit and found the tv wasn't going. Went to the office and the Owner, I think it was, came straight over and corrected it. I was only there one night, I had no compaints.

Staff super helpful and very pleasant on arrival and when we were leaving. Only slight hiccup was we were a large family and the second room was upstairs. The stairs itself was a scary flight of stairs (very vertical and as each step was different made it easy for the children to fall). But no one did, and overall it was easy access to town, happy place to stay, warm…. Would go back again …. Just maybe not that room with young children

Alcala is perfect for a one night stay. It's a bit dated, but that's reflected in the price, but it's clean which was all I cared about.

Fantastic service. Mattress on bed was too firm for our liking but that was the only niggle I had.

Older building but Gary was very welcoming as was every interaction with the staff. Spacious room and in an excellent location!

I was suitably impressed with the size of the room: it was meant to be for a family, with two bunks up a flight of stairs. It was still a little bit out of town: took a while to walk to the town centre.

It suited our purpose.

The room was so cool! A big open room with an open top level with a fabulous window as well as a wee bath tub too. The only thing was the room was in the third level and my elderly mum struggled to get up and down the stairs. I will request a lower room next time so partly my fault. We all loved the room, it was very clean although a few missing or odd bits around the room but still loved it!

The Alcala Motel exceeded our expectations. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our room was spacious, and we each had sitting chairs and a table in addition to large kitchenette and sleeping. Highly recommend the Alcala Motel

We had excellent stay. The property was very clean, the location was easy walking distance to the university and the city, and the service and friendliness were outstanding.

Close to hospital for visits. Host was SO accommodating.

Enjoyed the friendly helpful attitude of the young lady who took our booking. We appreciated being able to leave our car in the motel carpark for the day even though we had checked out. It made things so much easier for us. We also enjoyed the spaciousness of our unit and the closeness to everything we needed outside of the motel. Would recommend Alcala to anyone ...we hope to come back again.

No bells or whistles but good value for your money

Our stay at the Alcala Motel was comfortable. The room was well maintained and clean. There was no air-conditioning, but there was lots of natural lighting and with open windows, the temperature is comfortable. The kitchen has a microwave and fridge and comfortable seating for more than one guest. The shower was interesting, in that the shower head was quite low and taller than average individuals would have to squat to take a shower. Other than that, the management was very responsive and friendly. Overall, value for money.

It suited my needs for the night. It is perhaps getting to the time it might consider an overall upgrade/modernisation, but is still well maintained in its current form.

I really like how the retro look has been so well maintained and the range of items in the kitchen which has everything including an egg beater. This a unique place which I enjoyed.
