Very convenient to Paddington Station and Underground. Safe to walk as an older woman alone. Lots of restaurants nearby. Basic room that was clean and tiny. Good breakfast with instant coffee (!).
The place is wonderful. The breakfast food is too little.
Warm friendly welcome, offered a drink on arrival. Location brilliant, stones throw from Hyde Park/Oxford Street and London Paddington
Stayed here twice, both stays had been very good and staff again couldnt do more to make my stay confortable. Thanks.
Breakfast is standard English breakfast. Very boring if you are a guest who stay for extended time. Offering of fruits, yogurt and variety of scones or croissants would be lovely. Staff were excellent! Friendly and helpful.
When checking in found out there was no lift and asked for a room lower down. Ended up on the second floor in a family room with no room to move round the room comfortably. Kept walking into pieces of furniture in cramped space . Thought we had booked a double room with a small table and chair. Nowhere to sit other than the bed. The sink shower and toilet were damaged or cracked. He kettle would stop and start but never boil. The tv had poor signal and kept pixelating. The fridge turned everything to ice and the room was so humid even when the window was left open day and night. The shower kept going hot and cold to the point I thought I would be scalded .
The hotel is in an excellent location 5 min from Paddington station, the service provided by the staff is excellent, daily English breakfast is included. The staff provided great guidance about what to do in London, my family and I had an amazing time. I will come back to this hotel for sure !! Totally recommended.
For around AUD250 per night, the room was dated, cramped with a very small bathroom and no aircon. On the plus side it is close to Paddington Station and therefore convenient for airport transfers and travelling to other areas where something interesting is happening!
I was not warned that the basement room was next to a light that is on til 4 am that keeps you up all night. It is also next to the kitchen/furnace room so very hot. The bathroom drain was clogged lending to a flood with every shower. Our bedsheets were soiled. However the staff is friendly and the location is perfect.
Basic but good value
Was advised to check in at KingswayPark Hotel just next door. Upon check-in I was told they had moved me to a bigger room in that hotel, fair enough I was not going to say no! Room was ideal, comfortable bed with all the basics. Shower room small but done the job. Staff really friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Very close to Paddington Station would probably stay there again (I am not sure if the Admiral Hotel would be the same experience so would book this other hotel instead)
This property is safe and clean. It does not have air conditioning. My room was on the bottom floor without ventilation, so it was very stuffy. The breakfast was good, but the worker was very overwhelmed. A lot of cleanliness issues were not used.I would stay here only if I got a better room.
Nice, comfortable hotel next to Paddington Station
Water pressure is too low and service is very bed
Great location and price
Bom custo beneficio
A localização é ótima, com variedades de restaurantes perto e também linha de metrô.
.
Great location. Close to the action while not being in the hustle and bustle.
The room was cute and comfortable. Nice staff and breakfast. Close to places to eat, bus and train station. We enjoyed it a lot. Don't have A/C, not for the summer months. Don't have elevators if you're traveling with big luggages.
Ideal for what we wanted - a base just to lay our heads after a day exploring london. The breakfast was nice and the service was friendly. The room.was on the small side but we didnt book the hotel to sit in the bedroom. 7 minutes from Paddington Station and a similar time to Hyde Park it was ideal for our sight seeing visit.
Friendly staff. Room was good for what we needed just a clean bed to sleep in.
First, while Expedia notes in VERY fine print that check-in at the Admiral Hotel is next door, what is not stated it that the room is NOT in the Admiral Hotel but in the hotel where check-in is done. Beware this property! We were given a different type of room (triple instead of double) in a different hotel. And the room is on the fourth floor with NO elevator. As we arrived late due to a flight delay, we took the room—where else could we go at 1am? But it is NOT what we selected and paid for,
It was a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds and renovated bathroom. The location of the hotel is very convenient for everything like restaurants, Pubs, Transportation and sightseeings. I will definitely come back to stay here.
Great stay with private parking for a good rate. A full English breakfast and not a continental which was inclusive . Lovely sauna in lower floor too. Great spot near Hyde Park and Paddington. Enjoyed!
Great location but a small room.
Budget hotel, great location, friendly staff.
The Admiral is a budget hotel within easy access of the tube at Paddington for all the popular London sights. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful, though we did feel the lady serving breakfast could have done with a helper, as the breakfast room was full each morning. The food was nicely cooked and plentiful. The room was clean, but because the decor is old, it has a shabby, well-used look, with scuff marks on the walls. The room is very small, such that we had to walk sideways around the foot of the bed to access the other side by the window, whilst also being careful not to bump into the corner of the dressing table, nor bang your head on the hairdryer and tv both fixed to the wall. The bathroom is extremely small, to the point where even with us being only 5'6" tall, we had to be very careful not to bump into the corners of the sink, when manouvering around. If you are looking for a budget hotel, with breakfast in a great location and lovely staff, then The Admiral is fine, as you are only there for breakfast and sleeping, but it is compact.
Functional room for a family but the room was in the basement and had a musty smell.
To be svoided.
You get what you pay for here and the place doesnt even meet the threshold of cheap and nasty. No TV, no soap provided and toilet paper was rationed. The establishment was run down and on the verge of being grubby. Poor reception service added to the anquish.
Stay at Admiral
I was a little worried about staying here after some of the previous reviews but we had, overall, a very pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and attended to any issues kindly and readily (our kettle tray stopped working at one point for example). The breakfast was very nice- the fry up was good and you can help yourself to whatever else. Coffee not so great. Hotel needs updating admittedly but it was all we needed for an affordable family trip to London when we were out most of the day.
The staff was exceptional, efficient, and responsive. Really enjoyed the breakfast since it was done to order. If you are assigned to the fourth floor, you had better have a lightweight suitcase.
Short stop, room clean and had Netflix :), breakfast was included and very decent potion/selection, cooked as opposed to left out like a buffet.
The Admiral Hotel is well situated in the Paddington area, close enough to walk to the canal area, Camden & central London. We received a friendly & helpful greeting and found our top floor room to be cosy, warm & comfortable. The nice buffet breakfast was served by a lovely lady who coped well during busy times but maybe could do with a little more time or help. We will stay again when the chance arises.
Check in was smooth. Room was small and there was no lift. Appears a bit dated.
Good location and value
Overall, this hotel is warm, quiet and in a good location. Staff were really friendly and a cooked breakfast was included. I would recommend this hotel to friends. It is more worn and dated than the pictures make it look, but everything was clean. The spa is just a sauna and it is in the hotel next door. I would however not recommend the hotel for larger/taller people as the toilet was in a very narrow cubby and the bed was unusually short (I’m 5”2 and my feet were off the end of the bed). Nevertheless, it’s good value and we would stay here again!
The room is very small and old. It was like a 1-2 star inn instead of hotel. No lift, prepare a climbing up/ down exercise.
TINY
We chose the hotel because of it's proximity to Hyde Park area sites & Paddington. That worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, the room was TINY with insufficient room to lay out our luggage and walk around the bed. The bath was even smaller--a 200 lb person will find the shower really awkward. Even tho we were there for 2 nights, there was nothing to hang our towels on to dry
The room I reserved online was 1x double bed. I ended up with a double and a single. Which of course makes the room cramped. I just wish I would have gotten what I asked for.
Great Little Hotel
This was a Great Hotel. Clean, Hospitable, Great Friendly Staff and a Really Good Fry up... thats English Breakfast for the rest of us.
Good
Nice staff, old adapted building, very small bathroom without any ventilation, no air conditioning
Near by Paddington station. it is very convenient and staff are friendly. But facilities are old and no lift. I have to bring my luggage by foot. Hotel fee is very expensive because of Wimbledon.
Well situated and good value for the money.
Great location! Close to Paddington station with lots of dining options. Friendly staff. The daily breakfast was great, perfect way to start each day. The room was very small but it was nice to have a double bed for us and 2 twins beds for the kids. The shower was very small and with no elevator it was a challenge carrying our luggage up the narrow staircase. Overall we had a great stay.
I probably had the smallest room in all of London and as if that wasn’t bad enough it was on the floor! No elevator, try hauling your luggage four floors up after an 11 hour flight. I guess you get what you pay for. The staff was wonderful however, nice, friendly and efficient. Great area near Paddington station, lots of dining options, easy to get to.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The full English breakfast was super and the lady who looked after the breakfast service was amazing! She remembered my food preferences each day and was always smiling, despite how busy she was. A real treasure.
Not recomend
room As a cellar. Very noise and dirty. Sauna not working.
Family vacation comfortable room nice breakfast friendly front desk people
Small, old, well located
The rooms are small and old. The shower is ridiculously small with almost no water pressure. The hotel is 5 floors high with no elevator, so make sure you are healthy if you get a room on the upper floors. The breakfast is OK and the Paddington station is closeby, which makes it a convenient hotel to stay and move around London. You can get the Heathrow express train from there too which is a bonus.
The manager and staff were very cordial and willing to help all the time
Lift is not available, toilet is not big, otherwise, the location is good, and easy to maneuvere around.
Very friendly courteous staff throughout Newly refurbished room small but spotless and comfortable If i had one small complaint it would be the standard of the ingredients at breakfast but for the price in a really pleasant area excellent value
Was not given the room I booked and the rooms are not in the building advertised. It was clean and the breakfast was good. The location works if you want tobe near the train station.
Hotel manager tried to raise one night of our room rate from $500 to $2000. We did not have electricity for the lights in the bathroom for about 48 hours. The toilet did not work properly. They put us into a room and did not tell us that there was construction going on in the room next to us. The hotel manager harassed us every day that he saw trying to get us to pay the overpriced hotel rate. This hotel sucked in every way possible. Travelocity needs to look at my other complaint and provide me a refund!!!!!!
Room was too small and.had to climb a lot stairs.
Room designed for short persons
The room was very small rhe beds were totally uncomfortable and the bathroom wad extremely tiny....
Poor value
Very much a budget experience at a premium price
Just check your getting the room you have paid for
The first hotel room was horrid but once i got the room i had booked it was a really nice room very modern and comfortable beds, the breakfast is a long wait as guests from both hotels eat there so we had to queue then wait ages for our breakfast to come.
Disaster from start to finish.
The stay was awful. Firstly, I arrived and asked where the spa was, only to be told that there was no spa and they 'hadn't built it yet' according to the man on the front desk. The advertised spa was part of the reason I stayed there. Then I was told there was no parking - again, this was advertised and I would not have chosen this place had I known that. And I was put in a room next to a family with a baby who was crying all night- which can't be helped, but the walls are so thin I could hear everything. The man on the front desk was asleep when I came down to check out in the morning. The whole thing was appalling. I'm therefore requesting a full refund.
My review
On the hotel.com it had said we could check in around 1.30pm but our room wasn’t ready. They really helpful and kept our cases when we wanted to go out. We did found the room was very small, the batteries were finished in the remote so we couldn’t watch tv. The fridge in the room wasn’t working either. There wasn’t much of a selection on breakfast on cereals and we didn’t get a choice on what eggs we wanted. There was supposed to be yogurts available which there wasn’t.
Small room, friendly staff
We were in room 17 which was at the top of the 4 storey building, with no lift! It was a bit of a workout to get up there, but with only small bags this was OK. The bedroom was small, the bathroom was tiny. But it was clean and the staff were very friendly. The room only came with one pillow each, so we requested extras and these were supplied which made for a comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast was great, simple but cooked quickly. It served as the perfect overnight base for us for our trip to London, within 10 minutes walk of Paddington station and Hyde Park, the location suited us perfectly.
Not to recommend
You have to tell them when to change the bedsheets. Towels for one person when you are two. Cleaning was almost not existing. Shampoo and soaps have to asked for. 58 steps up almost straight, not suitable for older people. Good service from front desk personnel and breakfast lady.
The front desk was very accommodating.
London trip 2020
People were really nice, the cleaning was very good and I had a very nice time. The bathrooms are not very comfortable but they’re fine if the stay is not long. One more thing that could improve a bit is breakfast (only bread and cereal was served, a couple more options such as fruit and croissants would be nice).
Clean room & comfortable bed . Lovely breakfast . Staff are friendly & helpful .
Mold on the walls. Dirty pillow cases and curtains, they were also too small for the window.. Hair all over the bed & a very small bathroom. The cups on the tea tray was dirty. The room kind of reminded me of an asylum & for some reason there was an attic, which didn't make sense as we were on the 1st floor. However, the mattress was quite comfy & there was a friendly receptionist to welcome me.
we were greeted by the night porter on arrival and were invited to leave our bags in reception as we had arrived quite early, around 9.00 a.m., we went and had breakfast and returned to the hotel around 11.30 am when we were told our room would be ready shortly, much sooner than we expected. Kevin helped us get our bags up to the room which small but very clean and comfortable. the hotel served a nice cooked breakfast every morning with very friendly wait staff. overall a very nice experience.
Good hotel for a easygoing stay in London! Very nice staff
Hotel was convenient in good surroundings. However very noisy as on a road, windows didn't keep noise out. Breakfast was good except those serving either spoke little English or did not want to answer our questions regarding breakfast. Up until then, felt very welcome.
Very nice place to stay in London, for a good price and very easygoing staff
Excellent - couldn’t fault
Lovely room - quiet with big TV - bathroom small but well laid out to make up for it - friendly check in and good Breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for more, particularly at the price. Worth twice what I paid.
general condition is ok general condition is ok general condition is ok
The hotel was closed when we arrived from the airport at the night and after a two hours they opened us
Lovely little family run hotel in beautiful area!
Lovely little hotel in an excellent location, would recommend for short stay business trips or longer tourist stays. Was upgraded for free to a sizeable double room, which was very clean, bright, fresh and modern and appeared to have been recently refurbished. Brand new bed and mattress made for an excellent nights sleep, and breakfast was a very tasty full English the next morning with cereals and toasts on the side to leave you ready for the long day ahead. Wifi excellent, staff and service top notch, everything was as good as could have been hoped for. Will be looking out for this hotel as a first choice option next time I come to Hyde Park or central London.
Perfect - A+ location, comfy room & helpful staff
Great staff, breakfast, comfy bed, brand new (refurbished) room. Room was v clean and location was excellent, quiet and safe. Great transport links to pretty much anywhere and loads of nice supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Kevin, the manager, was v helpful and gave us tons of advice. He had a larger room available, so upgraded us for free! We will definitely stay here again and recommend this place to our friends who visit London regularly.
Small but OK. good value for catching the train to a plane
Reception was actually in the sister building which was only few doors down, warm welcome and well briefed on the area. Rooms were fresh with decent facilities including a very large smart TV and fridge also within the room. Recommended.
Comfortable and convenient, I will book here again
Fantastic stay. The hotel is nicely renovated and feels very fresh. Beds were new and very comfy. Quiet room, good wifi, lovely breskfast, great staff very friendly and helpful. Location is super convenient, just minutes from bus, train or metro connections and close to shops, and wide variety of restsurants and nice pubs. Will book again, one of the nicest and best value hotels i have stayed in whilst in central London.
One night before flight
Location was good. We stayed same location (had different room) when we arrived in London. Used same for return from France. Our second room was disappointing. Loose floor boards under carpet near entry door, leaky faucets that would not turn off. Window propped open with large plastic bottle. Sticky bedspreads , daughter found some hair on her sheets☹️
We actually were not accepted to live in this hotel despite we had fully paid the fee and received Expedia's booking confirmation email. That night we were sent to the nearby 'Brunel Hotel' instead. The male receptionist explained that their contract with Expedia was over in 2018 and our booking was hence cancelled. We were aware of this only upon arriving the Admiral hotel reception hall in London. No notification from Expedia or the hotel at all beforehand. As we could not live in this hotel, I wonder why we still receive Expedia's email invitation for this hotel review, and upon return home we still see this Admiral Hotel being advertised in Expedia HK website with two reviews further published after our booking date? I have reported this to the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong upon return.
All fine
Single room , a bit small but they usually are. Shower took ages to heat up but it did work
First time in London
Great location. Small room as expected. Close to Paddington station. Kevin desk manager was very helpful with transportation arrangements for early morning flight.
Good for a short stop. Well connected
Good for a stopover. Close to the station, marble arch and Hyde park.
Great Admiral Hotel
The staff was friendly and helpful. The location great. We just stayed here two days in all - one at the beginning of a trip to Wales; one on the way home. We would stay here again.
Good location nice clean room comfortable bed ideal for HydePark
Comfortable room. Lovely staff. Breakfast was great 👍
Great mid- level hotel
Keeping in mind , this is central London, decent hotel for its price. Excellent location with both Paddington and Lancaster stations within minutes, clean, decent breakfast and friendly staff.
The hotel in the pictures is not the hotel you stay in, they redirect you two doors down to a different hotel, the Kingston. Poor poor poor value for the price they charge. 1/5 would not stay here again.
Nice staff and location, not much else.
The staff and the location are fantastic! I think my experience is unique and that’s why my ratings reflect the scores. Originally I booked the admiral hotel, but when I checked in the nice gentleman at the front desk said his hotel 2 doors down had a single room and it wasn’t as many stairs up. I agreeded since it was the 3rd floor with no AC, no elevator, and a terrible layout. I arrived during the heat wave and was laying & sitting in my own sweat. I had to take 3 showers in one day! That wasn’t the hotels fault obviously but the toilet and the shower were together in a closet sized space with no ventilation. The shower was dirty and the water got the toilet paper wet since they were so close with no curtain. Not to mention all the stains in the carpet, I did not walk around barefoot for fear I would not be clean after. I had enough after one night and asked to switch. Another staff looked at his bookings and said he had a room in my original hotel. He said I should look at it first then decide. It was in the basement level of the admiral and a much smaller room. Anything was better than the first room so I agreed. I lugged my suitcase back down all those stairs in the heat. The staff looked at me and said “I’ll help you with your other things” haha so nice! I was drenched in sweat and not having a great time. The bed and breakfast was average, but the staff and location made it tolerable.
Good location and good breakfast. Since there is no an elevator and space is very limited on the property. For those who should be prepared to climb up the narrow stairs to the 4th floor with heavy luggages. Also bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste , maybe iron and hair dryer. Besides, it makes very uneasy feeling to whoever walks on squeeze wooden floor with old carpet. A closet door also needs help.
Good
Good location, great breakfast but very small and no ac.
Booked at this hotel but put up at another property. Dirty linen, smelly carpets, rancid sausage....need I say more?
Reasonable London Stay
The room was tiny (as expected) and check-in painless. We were there during cool temps and the room was comfortable. But I cannot imagine what it would be like in summer. Only one window (so no cross draft) and no screen so keep the sheer curtain closed. The walls are thin so you can hear everything but the mandatory quiet time seems effective. Breakfast was good. All in all a good choice especially for the convenience to Paddington station.
We did not stay at the Admiral we stayed at kingsway two doors up from Admiral so I don't understand that side of things not happy !!!!!
Bare minimums, small hotel
Would not stay here again. Adequate for a quick trip or simple overnight, but nothing longer. Pro: Location right near Paddington and Hyde Park. Breakfast was good and staff was adequate. Cons: We had a 4th floor room with no elevator (although that was advertised). However, it is 72 narrow, winding steps to the top floor, which appeared to be the converted attic. No air conditioning and you could feel the heat radiating through the floor and roof. Had to ask for a fan three times despite 90+ degree heat outside. Marginal water pressure in the shower and sink was absurdly small (because a regular-sized sink would have overwhelmed the tiny bathroom). No closet in the room. Room key kept demagnetizing (and we were strict on keeping it away from phones, other cards, etc), so it was 72 steps down and 72 steps back up to resolve the issue.
Close to Paddington
Very close to Paddington station and near to shops and restaurants. I was upgraded from a fifth floor single to a third floor double and I was grateful for fewer stairs to climb! Simple, clean room. Staff were welcoming and friendly.
The hotel informed me they were already booked. Even though I had fully paid. Now, please refund my payment ASAP. I have already logged a complaint but heard nothing back from Expedia. Please revert back ASAP. Gunnar Skoog 00971504587833
Check in was smooth. Guy at the check in counter was amazing. Really helpful. Hotel is in nice location. Rooms are bit small but that’s London for you.
elevator doesn't exist and our room was in fourth floor also room was very hot also breakfast did not have any variety.
clean, uncomfortable beds, no AC, very little water pressure in the shower, front desk helpful, hard to communicate with the breakfast staff they did not seem to be proficient with English
