Could be a good place to stay but needs major upgrade/ update the bed was comfortable.traveled for three weeks in South Island a disappointment for last night.
Very quiet,clean and convenient
OK for one night but very limited space & very limited kitchen facilities. But we did have a low price deal.
Room was very small. Kitchen very tiny and lacked utensils for cooking. Felt I was in a basic cabin in a camping ground
Very central
Comfirtable
Good space and location
Friendly staff. Good size room, plenty of space. There was an outside seating area at the back of the room. Close to the town and ferries but far enough out to be quiet. There was no where to put your own stuff in the shower and the shower pressure was lacking.
Some maintenance required in units and property. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Room was clean and tidy.
There was nothing we didn't like, loved the fact that we were close to town
Nice quiet motel just off main thoroughfare, good accomodation and facilities within 10minute walking distance to several eating places and five minute drive to the ferry
Close to the boat for a early start in the morning
Great position, walking distance to town. Close to Picton Interislander. Old but nicely kept. Unfortunately the internet was the worst I’ve ever experienced. It was terrible. Don’t come here if you’ve work to do. It dropped out constantly, so frustrating, even at 4am it dropped out, it needs work and soon. So annoying.
.
Delightful hosts. Homelike feel. Friendly atmosphere.
Property is quite dated; stove was at least 50 years old I think. Had a bit of trouble getting the stove to work but finally got it working. Beds were comfortable. Property is very close to the ferry terminals so convenient. Was an ok option for 1 night.
A great place to stay to catch the InterIslander. It had everything we needed.
Good room, town centre within walking distance. Recommended.
It was tidy and clean but dated. The wifi worked only intermittently and the microwave didn't work at all.
Close walking distance to town. Comfortable rooms
Was based on a close run to the ferry for an early morning crossing. Nice place, great check in and friendly staff clean and tidy just a bit dated
A great place to stay for getting on the Interislander ferry in the early morning! Comfortable, compact room - it was a studio room with microwave and fridge - no kitchen sink or cooking facilities. Bed and bathroom facilities good.
Great location close to both the ferry terminal and the town centre. Very good facilities in the room.
Would stay again
Tired Motel
Very old motel, not sure why it’s rated excellent. Do your research.
The unit smelled very musty, as if it needed a complete deep clean. We like older motels, but this one is too dated, and it is way overpriced for this quality (although Picton motels in general are expensive compared to say Blenheim, a nice nearby town). On the plus side, it is quiet and handy to the ferry, and owner helpful re late checkin. We would not stay again.
Nice and close to ferries. Quiet.
AAA Marlin Motels
Three rooms were lovely and clean. Quite outdated but warm ċlean and staff were friendly and accommodating. Price maybe a little over priced but I was quite happy there.
There was no table to eat off so used the one outside
Easy for ferries, 10 min walk to shops and cafes
Nice friendly service
Lovely motel. A bit dated, but very clean and comfortable Very friendly owners
The room was lovely and clean and beautifully present. Close to the ferry for an early morning start
Great Budget Stay in Picton
AAA Marlin is an older property that has been refurbished recently. Older means bigger rooms, bigger bathrooms, and a full kitchen (not just a kitchenette.) Big bed was fairly comfy. Also has laundry facilities and a wee barbeque for guests to use. Friendly staff went out of their way to offer help. Supermarket 7 min walking distance, handy for ferries too.
Lovely friendly reception very helpful. Overall room/motel a little dated. Would stay again.
Excellent place to stay and very friendly people.
Helpfull staff. Quite.
The shower recess and bathroom floor were incredibly slippery, no soap required. I fell heavily, I could have been really badly injured.
Very accommodating to late check-ins and setting up the room
Nice warm and spacious, great for our stay off the ferry
Great stopover for a ferry crossing the next day. Massive double rooms and lounge so plenty of space and an easy walk to town for dinner and breakfast the next day
Perfect place to stay and explore Picton before catching the early morning ferry.
It was great, no areas of anything to dislike.
Easy check in process and friendly staff, even a little cat roaming around
Very nice and clean unit would stay again 😊
Lovely and clean,comfortable bed,lovely grounds
Great stay. Would stay again.
Nice area
very clean, close to Ferry Vehicle access. Reception friendly. Only there for 11 hours so can't really comment on anything else. I would stay there again
If you are nostalgic about the 1970s/1980s then this is the place for you! Cheap stop over motel if you are taking an early morning ferry out of Picton.
Such a great place to stay as it is so close to the ferry
Comfortable and clean, friendly warm welcome.
Very basic room with poor lighting. Lights by bed were set too low, hits your head. Other lighting barely improves your ability to see. Usual 'motel' vibe.
Lovely to have all matching plates and very new equipment No negatives
Stayed a night to catch the Ferry to Wellington. Room was very old, paper thin walls but big enough. Bathroom is out dated but for the price you can’t expect a five-star experience. Fine for a stopover, got a good night’s rest.
Good
Basic, but nice and comfi. Would stay again.
It is so handy the cook strait ferries
Clean and tidy. Good for overnight stay to get the early ferry. Very convenient to the ferry terminal.
Unfortunately had a guest beside us that liked music at 9pm at night we had our alarms set fir 4.30 to catch a boat , but u cant choose your neighbours . Would stay agsin
Great location. Everything we needed
Absolute gem. I selected this motel because of the proximity to the Picton ferry since we had an early morning ferry. The room was clean, well maintained and had everything you'd need. Linens, bedding, towels and amenities within the motel were clean and lovely. The staff were polite and welcoming. The area is quiet and really comfortable. While we only stayed a night, would do it again without question. There was very convenient parking outside our room as well.
Great Service. Just what we wanted.
A quick stay before heading to the ferry next day but motel was comfortable, secure friendly staff and quiet. Thanks for making our short stay great
Retro look
We only had a quick overnight. But the staff was most helpful in making us feel comfy. We arrived late due to a ferry malfunction so our stay was short. The staff helped us get to our car rental the next day which was appreciated since it was pouring rain.
The location was convenient and the room provided all that was required for a comfortable stay.
We had a great overnight stay. Instructions were excellent, especially as we arrived at midnight after the ferry trip. The motel is off the main roads so very quiet. Our unit was so clean and modern and full of all necessities incl plunger coffee and biscuits! We highly recommend this motel and will book again!
Immaculately clean. Comfortable rooms. Would definitely stay again.
This is the second time we've stayed at this motel and each time we've found it awesome it is a home away from home proper bathroom and kitchen facilities comfortable surroundings. Wahi whakamiharo ki te noho (wonderful place to stay)
Very well appointed items to make our stay comfortable
Always welcoming
Big large rooms and bathroom
Close to ferry terminal.
Best heat controls on the shower we have had at any lodging! Homey motel, but had especially comfy chairs to lounge in. Owner was very helpful, and his cat looked like our Bandit, who we had for almost 20 years.
no taxis in town so gordon will pick up and drop off at ferry good old fashioned service at this motel
Enjoyed the experience
Nice quiet clean unit. Spacious room. Thank you
The owner couple was very nice and kind Thank you Don and Ivan! See you next time! Koji and Eriko
Clean with good facilities and a little off the beaten track so nice and quiet. Second time stay and would definitely stay again.
The room has everything we needed. Clean and friendly hosts.
Good value price, close to town, clean.
I enjoyed the stop over Close to the ferry
Great place to stay handy to the ferry
Convenient and affordable
Motel facilities tired - owners not flexible when asked to check-out 30 min later. surprising as only 3 rooms were rented that night....
Nice quiet motel with friendly owners. would stay again.
Quiet setting. Friendly obliging owners. Very clean and well presented. Great value for money
It was quiet and close to ferry terminal
Property was clean, beds were super comfy, but it was a hot night/day it would be great to have fans for the bedrooms.
Quiet and comfortable.
Nice clean motel handy to town
Available channels on the television is quite limited, not even Freeview available. Poor sound proofing, can hear noise from nearby rooms at night. The hot water cylinder creates some noise. Cleaning staff doesn’t seem friendly, doesn’t even smile or great guests.
Clean and comfortable and very friendly host
Great service
Nice friendly Hosts
This is the Best 1970s style Motel,we have stayed at, twice now. We will stay again. Very clean & little qureky detail features.in the rooms.(the Best)
