Reception ladies, Christin and Alysia were fantastic, they were friendly and attentive to.our requirements. I love staying at this hotel everytime I visit Sydney. Highly recommend YEHS hotels in the Sydney CBD.
WORST HOTEL EVER… don’t stay there.
It was the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. The moment we walked into the room, the air was stale and unbearable. The air conditioning probably hasn’t been on for days and when the front desk measured the temperature it was up to 28 degree Celsius. The air control wasn’t working and being there for not even 30 minutes my mom had a major asthma attack. The front desk wasnt even able to fix the air. They wouldn’t offer another room. We had to check-out and find other accommodations. The front desk saw the difficulties my mother had and just didn’t care. We got no refund or even any sort of courtesy. WORST SERVICE EVER. After weeks of back and forth just a notice from Expedia that they hotel wouldn’t do anything to make up for their horrible hotel and the misrepresentation on the website.
It was a smaller budget hotel - we were not aware But the room was comfortable and in a great location and the staff were there to try to help with any questions or concerns
Location and service.
The hotel was brilliantly located, just behind the QVB in Sydney. It was clean and our room was quite spacious. Staff were wonderful.
Hotel was perfect for our one night stay prior to cruise. Very central location, walking distance to everything we wanted to see on our first trip to Sydney. Staff was excellent. Very efficient, helpful & friendly. Room was very basic but very clean. Beds were good.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location really can't be beat - middle of CBD within minutes of transportation and shopping
Great location and value
This hotel was in a great location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities were good value
Perfect location! Easy to get everywhere either walking or by transit - airport train is 2min walk away!
I chose this hotel for its central location. My major disapointment was the room. It was not what is shown on the web selection. yes it was compact room but it did not represent what i saw on room selection. We did speak to reception desk and questioned if there was a mistakes in the room we received. We pointed out that photos of room that we chose was nothing like it. Regretfully our complaint did not result in satisfactory conclusion. So I did feel cheated as false representation and advertising is just not right. On happier note the location proved terrific, staff was nice and welcoming, room was clean.
Great spot, clean and nice rooms. Great service from Christin and Alisha.
Convenient, easy, good location, friendly staff
It reminds me of the APA Hotel in Japan. Room is incredibly small, but the price was better than average, the room is quiet and you have everything you need. Location is excellent.
Very convenient to everything
Tiny Rooms with very little soundproofing
It's not a bad price for the centre of Sydney, but you definitely get what you pay for. The bed basically touched three walls in the room and it was definitely 'no-frills'. For this hotel to have such a good rating I am very surprised. The worst thing was the noise - the doors have very little soundproofing so you could hear people slamming doors all night and the elevator saying "going up" might've invaded my dreams a few times.
Clean and comfortable room. Great staff. Hotel is in a great location. Right accross the street from QVB. 1 block to city tram and Town Hall train station / shopping center. 20 minute walk or 10 tram ride to Circular quay, Sidney Harbour.
very convenient, very central to public transport, shops eateries walkable distance. Nice quite room, staff was very helpful. only one negative, very congested in front of hotel, due bus lane and one way traffic, plus the lobby is very small need to expand or set up nice seating areas
Good boutique hotel in the heart of Sydney CBD. I could smell the bleach they used to disinfect the room before I arrived (could be a or a -). Would stay again in the future.
Good
Sad
I had trouble with safe in room. I had to call desk and on second call clerk came with key to reset it. Bathroom has no counter space which is awkward. Shower is in corner of room. Shower curtain only went 3/4 of way around and did not reach the floor. Bathroom floor got wet every shower. No enough towels, no wash clothes.
Great location for a price that did not match the cheap facilities with interior design of a shoebox. AC not well maintained….blah blah blah would not stay again.
Right in the heart of the city. Easy walking distance to all the shops and attractions.
It was ok but we had blood on our sheets upon arrival. We called to get these changed but the housekeeper had left so just got new sheets to change the bed ourselves.
We love the balcony and cleanliness of the room. Hotel was conveniently located to all the places we wanted to go via walking.
Good location, just right in Syd CBD.
Great location but twin room was small and shower curtain was tied with plastic string! Lack of hotel signage meant it was difficult to find. Reasonable value for money but would probably stay towards outskirts of Sydney next time as transport is good.
Good location to central station, plenty of transport options, plenty of food options close by.
The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed here three times in a short period and everything remained consistant. The breakfast was exceptional with numerous options for all dietary restrictions and preferences. Graham was the best.
Avoid this hotel if you can.
My room was literally next to the lift so I can hear all the noises when people goes out and in. Prior to arriving, I made an overseas call to make sure my booking is okay as hotel.com are not willing to help with some concerns. One of the YEHS staff whom I was able to spoke with downright rude. She hang up on me while I was talking to her. I told her Im calling overseas and my concern was urgent. After she hang up the phone I called again to make sure my booking was settled. She still gave me the same attitude. She doesnt have basic manners and basic customer service. I have since given nore details directly to the hotel management as Hotel.com doesnt seem want to post bad reviews. That being said, the reception was fairly nice when I have arrived and assisted me the best she can.
We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again. There are a number of good restaurants and shopping nearby, however parking is some distance away and difficult to find
My room was on the second floor and overlooked York Street. Although the bus stop was across the road I couldn’t hear the buses. My only negative was the blackout curtains which let in quite a bit of light down one side, even though I put a chair against them and stacked cushions up.
Great location.
The location was excellent. The entrance to the hotel isn't obvious when arriving but ok when you know what you're looking for. The room was very compact which resulted in the bed being hard up against the wall on one side. This meant my husband had to crawl over me to get out of bed, which is probably ok if you're 20 but not when you're 70. He also found that he banged his head on the wall during the night. Having said that the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a great size and the walk in shower excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful and always spoke when either going out or coming into the hotel.
Small room but great customer service
Small room without a window but friendly helpful staffs.
A nite in sydney
Good small room very central at town hall
Very good “no frills” Hotel
Very good “no frills” Hotel. Excellent position on York Street. Right opposite the QVB building for shopping, easy access to Town Hall Train Station and the Light Rail on George Street. Good Shower and comfortable bed. Very quiet overnight. Good Breakfast options opposite the Hotel in the QVB building. Friendly, helpful staff on Reception. Early check in was available. Luggage storage available. Will definitely stay here again 😃
Excellent location of property for tram travel , great location for shops , dining areas etc as despite property advertising breakfast this wasn’t an option on arrival .some of the receptionists were very helpful when asked questions but not all .great to have fridge in room for essential breakfast supplies although fridge felt very hot on the outside .
Fast and convenient access to public transport, shops and major attractions. Hotel staff are professional, responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sydney.
We did get an upgrade to the Sydney Harbour Suite the heated toilet seat and bidet was great
The location was fantastic, staff efficient and friendly. Room was nice, bathroom modern. 4 star as there was a big black hair on the bedside table (not ours.) and also the beds were extremely hard. Would stay again but may bring something to soften the sleep.
Not so small things
The employees at reception were great and well mannered however the bed wasn’t made properly when I arrived, the fitted sheet wasn’t actually wrapped around the mattress it just sat on top of the bed. The room had a strong chlorine smell and the bathroom floors weren’t wet but very slippery? The room also made a lot of noise, most likely from the aircon.
Staff are the only good thing at YEHS Sydney. Christine was kind, caring and helpful. Lounge railing is very unsafe one of our travelers fell down the stairs. The “lounge” looked more like a conference room. Pick up & drop off is very hard because its on a NO STOPPING LANE in front of the hotel. There were 4 of us we all feel the same way. One tv remote , 3 tvs in room. Air conditing was awful, beds very uncomfortable
Lovely and kind to deal with. Wonderful service.
Good hotel in the centre of Sydney.
This hotel is in a very good location just opposite the back entrance to the QVB. Although there is no cafe or room service in the hotel, the nearby QVB contains various cafes that offer a good range of foods throughout the day and it is part of the main Sydney shopping area. The hotel room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was quite large, although the bathroom basin area was fairly small. We would have liked a second bedside cabinet and reading light, as there was only one. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and access to the hotel was easy via the Light Rail.
Great central location
Room was absolutely awful with my windows facing a mustard coloured brick wall and air con unit. So depressing.
I love this hotel because of the best location. Its central to everything such as walking distance to public transports, shops and cafes and famous landmarks. Even though its located centrally, the room is very quiet and has comfy beds for a good night sleep. I definitely would love to come back.
The hotel is right across from QVB. The room was as small as you can move around
Great location at a decent price. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Very convenient location, surprisingly quiet and the staff are great.
All good overall and the price is reasonable.
YEHS was conveniently located to transport and local attractions. The bedding was pristine and crisp and the bed was always made beautifully. The bathroom was clean and the shower was easy to get 'just right'. The receptionist was warm and obliging and happy to have a genuine chat which is meaningful for solo travelers. I would be happy to stay here again when visiting beloved Sydney.
I was given an accessible room which was not what I booked. When I asked to change to the room advertised and booked, I was told that was not possible. The toilet had no lid. The shower only had a curtain and no sides so every time I had a shower, the whole bathroom floor was wet as a shower curtain was not going to stop water from flowing out. Not to mention the massive crack down the side of the bathroom wall. The location is the only reason I booked this place but this was the worse room I’ve ever had while staying here.
Quick check in. Staff were efficient and really nice. Room was super clean and bed was comfy
Air conditioning lets this hotel down.
The hotel is very convenient to the Sydney CBD. A 3PM check in is a little inconvenient (when 2PM is the norm) but you can leave your bags and come back later. Rooms tend to be small but room 312 was well laid out and perfectly adequate if you are only using it for a night or 2. The one major flaw in this hotel is the air-conditioning. Even though there is a controller in the room, it does not work - other than to turn the a/c on and off. The A/C is centrally controlled and is not suitably programmed. It was set to heating in the morning when the temperature outside was already 24c. Nights are uncomfortable as it was still too hot and stuffy in the room.
I thought I booked a good room with a balcony. When I went to the room it was a standard room ( not sure what happened) with one side of the bed pushed against the wall and some boards taped over a broken window. One of the board fell on my bed in the middle of the night. Staff were apologetic and advised a manager would ring me. They never did. I will never stay there again.
Great location! Super walkable and public transportation is so close (bus, train, etc)
Very disappointing
We had chosen the YEHS hotel because it rated well, I now believe a lot of the reviews must not be genuine. We booked multiple rooms as we were staying there with family - NONE of our rooms had working air con - the temperature in our west facing rooms was stifling. The TV did not work, the room was tiny - there was no room for a bedside table or even to place a water bottle beside the bed, with the bed jammed against the wall. Then check out was not industry standard of 11am but 10am - which made it too early to be able to go out for a relaxed breakfast and return - and there is no breakfast on the premises. So overall it was a cheap hotel, but without the cheap price tag.
Accessibility to train and tram. Close to tourist attractions and dining options. Pleasant staff.
Charming hotel steps away from shopping, food , and sights. Felt safe anytime of the day and staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. Would recommend if u are in Sydney for a few days and just need a place to sleep and relax before heading back out to explore the beautiful city of Sydney
My daughter and I love this property when we visit Sydney. We have stayed multiple times and have always been happy. Great locale, lovely staff, cleanliness and care of property is evident.
Great value considering the location!
Being so close to the train, buses and shopping was great. My room was spacious, ensuite was clean.
AB
Everything was excellent except for the extremely hard mattresses, definitely a very bad nights sleep. Why oh why do they buy mattresses like that!
Very basic hotel
Fantastic bed. Close to station. Big balcony.
Great stay - great location
Accommodation was not as expected.
Good location, great views of QVB, the city skyline, and the town hall from the room balcony. The room was a bit small and the carpet worn, but it was clean overall and the bathroom had a large shower. The staff were always helpful. There is no restuarant. I liked this place and would stay here again.
Great
The room is tiny .. but the location is great.. very close to the train and lots of restaurant around
No parking Terrible bed Terrible customer service
Lovely helpful staff. Fantastic location
Central and friendly and that's it!
Great central location and very friendly staff at reception. But the value for money is very low. Very expensive for a 3 star hotel. Small rooms, old fit out, entrance looks like a Backpacker entrance. It would be ok for $150+ at the most.
Good central location, affordable and quiet.
Great location and friendly helpful reception staff.
Worth a stay
Good central location
Very nice and convenient location. Bathroom was a little dirty… the toilet seat.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was smaller place ( reminded us of Japan hotels) but clean, has all the amenities we needed, quite, staff were friendly and close to everything (shops, restaurants, darling harbor/opera house, china town etc). When we come back to Sydney will definitely comeback here.
Convenient and good value Staff very friendly and helpful
Although the room we stayed was simple, this property sits in the heart of Sydney CBD and the nearest light rail stop is just 2-3 minutes away. Convent and safe - good for me.
Good experience all around
Room is spacious and staff is nice. Internet stability can be improved
Great in terms of location to local attractions The room was compact you wouldn’t want to bring big luggage. It would not fit.
Good service
Awesome location, friendly staff, quiet. Room no windows to look out so great base rather than accommodation you’d want to spend a lot of time in.
Great room and confortable
Worth the location to stay at
There wasn't any toilet paper when we arrived but reception was able to provide very quickly. Complimentary wine and chocolates were a nice touch upon checking in was a nice surprise! The hallway can be a little noisy with guests coming and going out of their rooms. Overall, we had a great stay in the hotel as it is close to everything ... the station and plenty restaurants to try out.
It was close to Townhall and QVB train stops so that was convenient. I was there for 5 nights and on 3 mornings there was someone making loud noises in the hallway—like cleaning—and slamming doors. One morning, I even looked out the door, and there was a man in a hotel uniform near the elevator, and he looked back and caught my eye, but he never made any acknowledgment nor did he apologize for the loud noises he was making. That was at about 4:00 in the morning. I don’t know that I would recommend anyone else staying at this place if you value a quiet night’s sleep.
Easy place to get to (walking or driving). Very friendly staff and area was clean and close to so many cafes, restaurants, bars. and transport
Hotel needs to improve on the early check in process for the early arrival guests, we arrived 8 am, and came back few times for the early check in, but have to wait till 3. Few of our friends were able get home around noon time for the nearby hotels. I won’t consider come back again
Reasonable price hotel. Good location. Perfect public transportation.
Little outdated
Central postion.Quiet on 5th floor. Enough space in bedroom and shower room. Comfy bed. Plenty of hanging space. Recommend.
Great one night stay.
Great service, and location. Small room. Comfortable bed.
Sign out front only says Sydney QVB Hotel. You only see YEHS when you go in to ask where that hotel is. Staff were lovely. Room was great but an extra few inches would be 🙂
Pleasant stay
Great location, good facilities and amazing staff that were so accommodating. The only thing is the room was too warm.
Two Day Trip to Central Sydney
This was a two night stay on business. The hotel is easy to find and near the Town Hall train station is you are using the train form the airport. The location is great and next to the QV Building. Many places to eat and drink as near. Consider NOT booking a room with a balcony. The level of noise from the street if you face York Street is significant. To their credit, the hotel does supply ear plugs for free upon request.
nice and convenient
Lovely room and view. Perfect for a quick shower & sleep.
