Good location. Old Town Lagos is a short walk away. Several beaches are also a short distance away. The room had a balcony but mine was on the ground floor and had a view of an alley. The facility seems pretty old and the bathroom and closet doors stuck a bit when opening and closing. Otherwise very comfortable and enjoyable stay!

MOLD!! There was a patch of mold on the ceiling about 40 cm x 40 cm in the bedroom! Not like a few specs, like mold that is growing in the walls. There was also mold all along the rims of the shower. I had to kill 5 fruit flies at various stages of development on arrival, so there is some sort of colony growing there. When I told the front desk I could not stay there because there was active mold which is unsafe and unsanitary, they made excuses about having a work order. They said they had other rooms I could switch to, to which I responded "If you have other rooms without this problem, WHY would you put me in one that is growing mold? How can I trust your judgement and ethics when you have put me in an unsafe room?" No apologies, no offers of compensation, just emphasis on the fact that I was choosing to leave, it wasn't their problem. So - I wouldn't recommend staying here. I didn't save any money, because I had to pay for an entire new accommodation after paying for this one. The area is not very nice either. I thought it looked closer to the coast than areas in the old town, but it was just dirty streets and noisy traffic. There are so many far better places to stay while paying just a bit more.

The staff were very friendly and nice. The breakfast was also good. The room was terrible. The bathroom faucet was falling into the sink, I had to hand tighten it from below to use it. The shower drain was completely clogged so it overflowed. I had to remove old gross hair from the drain to use the shower. The hot water took about 20 minutes of running to get to the room so a shower was even possible. The AC/heater was very loud. The wifi was unsecured so people's devices could access each other. The tv would randomly come on at all hours of the night. I think that was a network device issue but not sure. They had crazy rules like no eating or drinking in the rooms. We were so unimpressed we left a day early. This hotel might be a 2 star, not a 3 star.

Welcoming staff. I stayed at WoT in Ericeira, it was better maintained that this WoT in Lagos.

Convient location, just a short walk to the center of town (although it is up a hill if you decide to walk). The staff was great, there were fun activities for guests and breakfast was good too.

Able to walk down into town

I truly had a wonderful experience staying at WOT Lagos Montemar. We occupied the family room featuring a bunk bed, and I found the mattress to be quite comfortable. Even with the bunk bed, the room was surprisingly spacious. The property is extensive and teeming with young guests. Breakfast was delightful, offering a variety of items to kickstart your day. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the beach and the Fort. The cleanliness and organization of the hotel are consistently maintained. The front desk staff are always friendly and eager to assist. We spent 5 days and 4 nights there, and we will certainly return on our next visit. If you’re traveling by car, you can easily reach other nearby beaches, such as Portimão and Sagres, which are just an hour away and well worth the journey. Additionally, the hotel is a short walk from the main grocery stores, Continente and Pingo Doce. One concern we had was the shower situation in the bathroom; the design of the enclosure tends to allow water to splash everywhere. It also appears there isn’t a fan, leading to significant humidity in the bathroom.

Enjoyed this hotel stay. Clean, quiet, parking, very close to grocery store, food and waking into town. Lovely staff! Good breakfast.

Everything was ok. Some help with bags up a few stairs to elevator would have been great. After all we are 71!!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was included - a really great selection. Staff were very friendly. The bed was really comfortable. Location was excellent - less than 10mins from the centre of town and the beach. Very good value for money!

Had a great stay, staff were very friendly and check-in and check-out process was amazing and effortless. My only issue was there was no hot water to shower with, both the evening and first thing in the morning. This seems to be more of a maintenance issue, not reflective of the staff's great service!

More than adequate for a one night stay for the price we paid (just over 50 Euros through Expedia). Bed not so comfortable, and pillows a bit lumpy. No kettle or fridge in room. Room and bathroom very clean. Continental style breakfast was good. Would use again for a short stay.

Wonderful! The room was perfect and very clean. The breakfast excellent with 7or 8 choices of coiffée.

I would have given 5 stars if the room had a mini refrigerator and a regular TV in the room. The TV was actually an Android box which had to be connected to the internet before using it. To access the application available once logged in (Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc.) you needed to have an account and every time you opened the TV you had to enter again your credentials. We were not able to watch the news in the room.

Nice little basic property close to the old town (uphill on way back). Most of staff friendly. Breakfast basic with no cooked option but decent croissants and coffee. Towels changed daily but no room cleaning. Decent option for decent price, but building starting to look run down. Best in room/on wall hairdryer I’ve had!

Great hotel, no laundry service

Great room, clean. Nice area. All good. Only concern was they mention laundry service but they only have a machine that you can uss.

Great option for visiting Lagos on a budget. Very walkable location. The building is a little old and the rooms don't have the best sound proofing, but it was never noisy at night. There are no fridges in the rooms so finding cold water can be a challenge. Staff was friendly and allowed us to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout. All in all, an affordable and comfortable stay Pros: - Conveniently placed - Conveniently priced - Accommodating (Luggage storage) - Nice staff - Good breakfast Cons: - Can be a bit noisy in the mornings - Bathrooms feel a little dated - No fridge in room (getting cold water can be difficult)

The location of the property was very convenient as it was very walkable to many things Lagos has to offer. However we only spent one night there and the hotel did not have hot water during our stay. Front desk staff said there was nothing they could do regarding the hot water and it just is what it is.

The staff was very helpful and gave recommendations for the beaches nearby. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was pretty basic, could be better.

Nice stay in Lagos!

Good place to stay even though the room is a bit small. The employees are very nice and helpful and the breakfast is very satisfactory; lots of variety and quantity! Very close to downtown and the beaches! Free parking in front!

It was perfectly in between shopping and food and the beaches, which meant it was far from both. Decent breakfast, clean rooms, and friendly front desk/bar staff.

Looks a bit rough from the street view but absolutely no complaints! They have everything you need from a safe, private bathroom, balcony, to a free breakfast with lots of variety. It was a perfect 10 min walk to the beach and just under 10 to the little town, right in the middle. No complaints, we had a great stay!

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. We had a small problem with our room, and they took it seriously and solved it right away. Good value for the money, and in a good location to walk to beaches and old town.

Missing some comfort Beds are bad

Pretty noisy - as if someone is constantly moving furniture around. Very small room, bare necessities. Decent staff. Pretty clean. Breakfast room always busy, with same small menu every day. I would stay again as it is pretty walkable and a decent value for the money.

Very clean, rooms are a little small

Pros= Very walkable to main beaches, clean hotel & very nice breakfast. Rooms had balcony with chairs = perfect for wet towels & bathing suits. Cons= room was very humid/damp even with leaving a/c unit on and water sprayed out of shower onto floor no matter how showerhead directed. That said, overall a great stay with friendly helpful staff.

Hotel needs refurbishing. Staff was friendly and the location was OK. Had a basement room. Slight smell of mildew.

Easy walk to the beach

The property was just a short walk to ab area with shops, restaurants, and beaches. It had air conditioning which was awesome, bed was comfy and bathroom was very clean

Party hotel

This is a young partiers hotel ! There is a bar downstairs open until midnight and you can hear people scream until 1h30 am ! I even called the reception to ask the guests to keep it down and they laughed and nothing changed… do not go if you want a good nights sleep and go to bed before 2am !!

Room wasn't ready, no supplies at all .No towels or toilet paper Broken toilet brush in the toilet bowel. The desk clerk gave us another room.break was ok.

Staff tried hard. Dust along the floor in the corners in a room with wood floors which are better than carpet and easier to clean. No hot water at all in our room. Breakfast was ok.

Well located, the staff is lovely, the room is very nice, overall it was a great experience and I would stay there again.

This was a wondeful hotel with a comfortable room for a great price. A great value overall.

The stay was good although rooms needs updating. The plates x 2 was stolen on the day we checked out. It was so scary, I had rented so many cars and this the first time the front and back plates were stolen. The cave we went was far from this property. I will not stay here the next time I go to the Algarve area.

This property for their price is ok. Some students or lower income crowd enjoy it without questioning much. Here and there you see lack of service to entry door , walls, plumbing and even furnitures. Entry door injured my foot. Breakfast is not worth paying for. It is absolute disaster. It is walking distance to the beach. Staff are weak and careless. Managment is cheap.

Good location, very friendly and helpful staff, decent continental breakfast. A bit of a septic smell upon entering the hotel (seems to be pretty common in Portugal) but it didn’t last and the room was okay.

We enjoyed our stay at WOT Lagos Montemar. Good breakfast buffet included. Staff was wonderful, pleasant and helpful. Loved the location. Partial view of the ocean from our patio. Walking distance to beautiful beach and restaurants! Short taxi ride to marina or walkable. Nicely Renovated bathroom. Only suggestion would be they really should paint the white plaster exterior walls which is long overdue. An inexpensive fix that would upgrade the property from a dingy, dirty exterior to match the clean, well kept interior. It’s very disappointing to see it compared to its photo online.

Loved our stay completely!!! Would stay again

This hotel is not a 4 stars, at best I would give it a 3 stars. Need some renovation, floor varnish was peeling in the room, TV wasn't working, internet is slow. Was surprised to see a rat in front of my room in the hallway in the morning. Pest control was parked in front of hotel when I was doing the check out

Staff very frendly and the hotel was very clean

The staff was good, but the cleanliness of the hotel is what got us. The toilet had urine stains as well as the door. The trash can already had trash in it, which really made us question if they just walked in a made the bed and that was good enough. We were on edge during our stay because of this. Otherwise, the property was at walking distance to the city center.

Great location! Easy walk to town (10 min) and my favorite, Praia Dona Ana Beach(5min). Very safe area. Small grocery store and laundry about 3 min away. Room was very clean, but dated. Mattress wasn't the most comfortable for multiple nights but for the price, I can't really complain. Walls are a bit thin, but I've had the same issue at nearly every hotel I've stayed in recently. Breakfast spread was nice: coffee, cold cuts, yogurt, fresh fruit and pastry. Overall I would stay again and I do recommend.

This room could’ve used a fridge and possibly a place to put your shower items. Other than that it was very nice and it was in a great convenient location the morning breakfast was good however, it was the same every single day, but it was definitely a nice addition I would stay here again.

Overall really accurate with the listing. A little walk away from downtown which makes it quiet at night. Would recommend! Gentle staff and caring.

Good value for money, good location

We were 7 blokes on a cycling tour of the Algarve. The rooms were clean, good shower, good breakfast, comfy beds, short walk into centre of town. Secure garage for storing our bikes. Only critiscsim is the check in was difficult because we didn't speak Portuguese and reception didn't speak English very well.

Great staff. Peaceful and quiet area

Welcoming staff and location is good. Please be cautious if walking at night. I was robbed close to the property.

There is no parking on site and the lots nearby are usually full. We had to park a few blocks away. Generally, parking in Lagos is difficult to find with the crush of tourists swarming the area. In fact Portugal cities and tourist sites are buried with cars.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Our room was very nice with a beautiful view and balcony. The staff were all very friendly to us. The location was in between downtown Lagos and the beaches. Longer walk to downtown Lagos but not bad to all the beaches. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent value hotel

Good value hotel in a great location for old town and the beaches

An excellent budget accomodation. Very clean. Main beaches are at 8-12 minutes walking. Old Town is reachable with at 12 minutes walking.

It was okay, my room was supposed to have a seafront view but it wasn’t very clear. Room was relatively clean and comfortable but didn’t realise the hotel in general was so dated. Whatever’s going on with the tv needs to be changed cause it’s not user friendly enough; you should not need to start downloading apps just to watch a bit of tv. The breakfast was also quite basic perhaps think about adding eggs as well.

Nice place to stay in Lagos

Nice place to stay in Lagos. The room was very clean and appeared to have been recently remodeled. The staff was very friendly. We would absolutely stay again.

Not quite the normal “just visited” review as the Montemar closed for several months renovation by its new owners at the end of October, just as we were leaving. But, as happy guests here many times over the last 15 years due to the great location and value of this cozy, friendly little hotel I was impressed with the professionalism (and plans) of the new management team and look forward to revisiting again next spring when it reopens.

We found the staff very helpful. The location was very near the marina. The breakfast was basic. Overall a good deal.

Pleasantly surprised considering how little we paid. Location is pretty much in between the old town and good beaches. Wifi also available in reception.

Lagos super find

Super clean and fresh hotel, great friendly helpful staff that went out of their way to please guests. A continental breakfast was included in the room rate which was very low compared to anybody else. I will definently return on my next trip to Lagos and certainly recommend The Montemar to anyone who is looking for great value, centrally located to all attractions in the Algarve
