Winston Lodge - Excellent Stay

A recent 7 day stay at the lodge. Service was excellent. Staff was friendly and always looking to help with any needs. The attached bar/restaurant proved to be convenient with good food options. A great stay!

Awesome lodge

Clean, nice, cozy, didn’t like that there’s no elevator or AC but it’s great otherwise.

It’s important for people to know that if you book this property in the summer there is no air conditioning! It was 33C when we stayed there and there wasn’t even a fan in the room. Also, website said there were outdoor games (badminton etc) and board games in the lobby for the kids but we couldn’t find any and there are no staff on-site. Overall it’s a charming lodge but perhaps better for a winter stay.

Rowan was very nice and we loved the location. We were in room 10. I can’t speak for the other rooms, but the bed linens really need to be replaced. The pillows were flat and awful. Plus the bottom sheets were stretched out of shape and would not stay on the beds while we slept. Other than that, it was fine.

Beautiful and quiet. We were lucky enough to be the only lodgers for the one night. Every part of this lodge is beautiful and comfortable. Beds and bedding are lovely. Nespresso machine and a mini fridge that is actually cold! Staff was so welcoming - we will be back!

Fantastic property! Richard was an amazing host and the lodge itself is rustic and beautiful. Can’t wait to stay again!

Listing made it look like a true condo with living room and fireplace. What it is is a hotel-like room with 2 queen beds, common area living room and fireplace downstairs. There was a fridge in the room but only microwave was a small one downstairs in the common area. Good mattresses. Wi-fi never worked. Good location. Hot tub out back looked like it hadn’t been used since winter.

Awesome July long weekend

Can’t say enough good things about Winston Lodge and the management. It’s only a block from kicking horse resort, where there are restaurants and a gondola to take for viewpoints, hiking and biking. But so much quieter than staying at the resort. The check in and out was a snap, the parking ample and it was incredibly private but with management readily available and aimed to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Our room had a lovely balcony on the edge of the forest with a creek that soothed us to sleep. The skylight made us feel like we were falling asleep under the stars and the bedding was like sleeping on a cloud. Our room also had a huge bathroom, was super clean and a fridge in the room in a bureau that was big enough to house all of our needs for a few days. We also had Netflix to watch to unwind at the end of the day. So many extra touches like music playing in the common area so that we felt at home when we returned from outings. We will definitely be back!

The bed had no box spring and the mattress felt uneven. The area where your head goes felt lower than the rest of the bed.

Incredible views from our room of the mountain tops across the valley, beautiful building and common areas. Very quiet and relaxing. We loved it! The only small room for improvement was the bed was a bit too soft!

This is a very reasonable priced lodge right up on Kicking Horse. Rooms are rustic and have balconies to relax on. Have stayed before and will definitely come back

Beware of renting here as the restaurant is not always open and food options are limited. We were not informed of the restaurant closures until a couple days before our stay. Expedia has no way of requesting a refund that I can find and I will avoid booking with Expedia again because they take no responsibility for the misleading information. No one was at reception the first day we arrived, so we started off our holiday scrambling to find food options. The lodge itself is charming but basic. There is a good ski storage area and the location is good.

The rooms were quaint and quite sizable. The Bistro was truly too drawer.

I stayed at the Winston Lodge last winter and returned because I loved it so much. It is cozy, close to the gondola, has an amazing on site restaurant/bar and a lovely common area. Feels like a traditional Canadian log cabin.

Spacious and comfortable common area with several seating areas for individual families, and lots of boardgames. Excellent wifi service and they accommodated the limited breakfast options on hill by providing plates & cutlery as well as microwave for guests to warm up their own breakfasts. Rooms are spacious with luxurious beds and jacuzzi tub, perfect for a soak then a nap after skiing.

A nice little lodge away from the crowds of the resort, yet walking distance for morning coffee. This place is easily suited to skiers and outdoor enthusiasts with a large room to dry your boots and equipment. Nice large rooms with comfortable beds and an excellent bistro for happy hour and dinner.

Great place close to the ski hill. Cozy and quiet.

The Lodge is great however we picked the wrong time of year to stay there. Everything on the mountain had closed the weekend before so we had to drive to Golden for meals which is a long way away. It would be a great place for a ski holiday. It would have been nice to know about the closure before hand.

The room was serene.

Winston Lodge is tucked away in a skill hill area of Golden. We were greeted by the lovely staff and were amazed by the rustic interiors. The room were massive and provided us such relaxing cottage vibes. The bathroom is large enough to have a relaxing bath. Everything was clean and in order. I really cannot get over the views. I'm sure it's amazing around here during their peak winter season. Make sure to also visit downtown Golden and check out some cafes and restaurants. Definitely recommend this place!

This is a lovely ski lodge and although we are out of season we can see how wonderful it will be in the winter. Very comfortable room. Amazing bathroom. There is a restaurant in winter open but not at the moment. Very pleasant stay.

This is the second time I have stayed at Winston Lodge. Beautiful property, rooms are clean and spacious, comfortable beds too. Staff has always been really friendly. Wish I had more reasons to go to Golden so I could stay here more often.

Cannot beat the views, and the rooms/lodge was nice. Our room was very small but nice.

Loved this property. Has a lovely mountain chalet vibe with really unique and spacious rooms. It is a short drive from Golden itself but makes for some stunning views. Its also walking distance to the ski slope and various restaurants. We'll stay here again.

Late check in was easy and the lodge was a good place to overnight in Golden!

Winston lodge was a nice rustic accommodation. Very cozy. I would definitely recommend this place (and will stay there again)

Beautiful property. Clean rooms with jacuzzi tub and balcony. To be fair it was end of COVID and during forest fires so there was not a lot open for the season. Short walk to only open close restaurant at base of ski hills. Golden a drive back down mountainside. I’m sure there is a lot to do there. People lovely and helpful.

We stayed here with our two kids on an overnight stop. I imagine this place is lovely for couples on a ski trip. For a family traveling with small children this wasn’t the best stay. The balconies aren’t enclosed- My very fast toddler got onto the balcony and went under the divider as I was heading out to grab him. The opening at the bottom isn’t exactly adult sized and getting him back was a challenge. There is no onsite restaurant so be prepared to leave for breakfast. The tubs are jetted and super deep, with a ledge at the back, making washing small kids a challenge. Also not all windows in the bathroom have a covering and are visible from the outside, not great when having a shower. There was no table and chairs to eat at in the room, you need to use the common areas. I didn’t see a staff member at all during our stay- the key was left on the desk and no one was around for checkout. I don’t think we’d return.

It was very quiet. It's too bad the restaurant wasn't open but covid has not helped the situation.

The lodge and rooms were great! The only thing I didn’t like was that the rooms are not air conditioned.

My 3 year old was projectile vomiting and having terrible diarrhea. We called to cancel the hotel and drive straight home to preserve the hotel. They still charged us full price. Next time I will be stopping and washing all the puke and poop off my daughter's car seat in their bath tub.

It was a nice boutique feel with well appointed and comfortable room. Unfortunately restaurant was not open which is due to staffing shortages. The staff we interacted with were excellent.

Very clean, comfortable accommodations. During the summer, there isn’t a lot of activity at the ski hill so it was very quiet. The setting is beautiful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

No restaurant open on site.

I did not see the same (picture of lodge) as the reception was at the side of the building. The bed was uncomfortable and the other bed was wobbly. The TV did not work and had the wrong room remote. There was no continental breakfast (granola bar, yogurt), if there was it was not specified where.

Such a cute lodge, will be back for sure! No AC but luckily the heat wave was on the way out when we stayed, the fan and breeze did the trick.

Nice comfortable bed

These people are amazing. I left my gold ring behind while frantically checking out in the morning to continue on my road trip, and they graciously found it and offered to mail it to my new address in Alberta. Aside from my forgetfulness, my stay at the Winston was very relaxing after an intense 8 hour road trip in the 40 degree heat. The staff are super friendly, and the atmosphere was everything I could have asked for. Would definitely stay here again if I was passing through Golden, BC, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else!

What a beautiful setting inside and out. Travis had the spa music turned on when we arrived and my partner spent 5 hours in the Jacuzzi tub:)

Large rooms, huge bathroom, real luxury feel about the place

WONDERFUL STAFF. GREAT ROOM WITH BALCONY. KING SIZE VERY COMFY BED. JACUZZI TUB WAS GREAT AFTER SKIING. BAR/KITCHEN ON SITE IS A BIG PLUS. AWESOME WOOD BURNING FIEPLACES IN LOOBY AND PUB. TOO FAR TO WALK TO LIFTS IN SKI BOOTS BUT JUST MOVED CAR TO PARKING LOT 2.

First time stay at this Lodge and we were very happy with it. Dinner at the attached restaurant was also great. The room was larger than we expected

It is located in a nice spot. The restaurant was great and so were the staff.

Rustic, well maintained and easy access to lifts. Lovely fireplace. The pub fare is pretty limited but has nice ambience.

Highly recommend. Came early for check in and the lady who checked us in cleaned our room first so we could check in earlier. Very short walk to the gondola, great tub in the rooms and awesome restraunt downstairs. Would definitely stay again.

Quaint 11 room lodge with beautiful rooms, great common area and fantastic Pub onsite

We stayed in room number 6. We could hear through the wall with ease. So when guests decided to start drinking and having a party at 11:30 pm. We could hear everything. Then the following night. The Same group of people decided to make a fire and start chopping wood at 9 pm. The banging was Soo loud We ordered food from the lodge , blood was in the chicken burger , and the next night the pizza dough wasn’t cooked. The walls need paint, furniture was scratched, blood on the bedding. I had to confront the Group of people , which wasn’t super comfortable.

Loved the stay. Was close enough to walk to the lift and quiet location. COVID rules kill all the pleasures otherwise that would be potentially available but would love to stay again when the world is back in order

Great boutique hotel

Great boutique hotel. The location is a few minute walk to the hill. Service was exceptional. The restaurant on the property was top notch as well. Would certainly stay there again.

The room we booked had no mountain view and no hottub/Jacuzzi as advertised in the description and provided photos for a delux room - the main reason we booked at Winston lodge. The receptionist explained they don't have a room with a Jacuzzi at the moment.

A beautiful, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Rustic, clean, simple.

Was a fantastic day with beautiful ambience, the rooms were very clean and I especially enjoyed the heated floor in the bathroom. Travis at the front desk was very welcoming and had a few good chats with him. The lobby common area with the fireplace was a fantastic treat for us to relax and laugh the night away. Highly recommended this accommodation, hope to be back soon.

Great location, rather disappointed with the room. Loft bed looked like it was going to fall apart any second, would have been scared to sleep up there. Carpets were filthy, stains everywhere, not too appealing, and room was dusty.

Great Place

A very nice rustic Lodge with comfortable beds and a nice shower. The hostess was very very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed as it was end of season but we still enjoyed our stay

We received excellent service. The place was very clean. They went the extra mile and provided us with a kettle in the room on our request and even left us some tea, cups, spoons, etc. The room had a small fridge as well. The scenery from the room is exceptional. Definitely a must to visit Winston Lodge. There are even a Bar & Bistro with very tasty food and also exceptional service.

Clean, quiet, private rooms in a great chalet on the hill.

Chose this lodge because of the review. However there is no reception service no coffee in or outside the room. All we got was a clean room. Very disappointed. TV was the size of my computer monitor 20inch.

Wow! We loved this place! The front desk staff was so friendly and totally prepared for us. The room was incredibly clean and the views were lovely. You couldn't hear a thing at night and I had the best sleep ever, as did my family. The shower was great. Excellent water pressure and totally spotless. The Winston pub has great food too. Get the nachos if you're really hungry! They do not disappoint! Only thing to note: you will have to carry your bags up stairs as there is no elevator. There is also no coffee available in room but I noticed a machine in the common area.

Quiet night’s rest

We enjoyed our summer stay at this lodge high above the town of Golden. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable with a nice view of nature. We would have like a tea and coffee maker for our early morning get-up-and-go. Nonetheless, there is a restaurant close by. The spacious walk-in shower was a plus.

The room was super cold and no heat. I guess they turn off the heating system during the summer. Had to snuggle to stay warm.

The room was very clean and the staff could not have been more pleasant. The shower in the room shot water in all directions and the shower head was mounted in a really awkward place. Also tracking down a coffee in the morning was no easy task.

A room with a view

Great location in Golden. The price we paid for our room was the same amount for a hotel room in the centre of Golden, but at Winston Lodge you get an A+ view, comfy bed, and a nice rustic/cabin feel. Definitely worth it to come up to the Kicking Horse resort

Room was clean, bed was comfortable food in the restaurant was good.

It was very close to the ski hill which was the only nice thing about this place. For over $300/night, they could pay someone to scrub it and fix it up a bit. There staff are friendly but spend more time sitting and planning their evenings then they do working. And it shows. The place is filthy, and if you’re lucky enough to get a room that shares a wall with the pub you won’t get any sleep either.

Nice building. Great pub. Pool table, although cue sticks were all broken. Everything was quite fine, except the complete lack of hot water! We were told that the reason was everybody came back from skiing and took a shower. That happens EVERY day! We were told to wait an hour. We waited 4 and still had only barely warm water.

Rustic, small, cozy, quiet. Just down the road from the resort, super friendly staff. Great onsite bar, awesome free breakfast to start the day.
