We reserved a Family Suite which advertised having a king bed for parents plus a twin bed for a kid. What they gave us seemed like an upgrade compared to what was advertised: two adjoining rooms, one with a king bed, the other with two twin beds, so that our kid got her own room with its own bathroom. It did have an ”ocean view” in the sense that it faced a side street, but you could look to one side and see the beach and ocean (and look the other way to see the hill with the Christ.) There was a small swimming pool on the roof. There wasn’t a hot tub, but the roof had excellent views day and night, and the roof level offered additional dining options. There was also a restaurant on the ground floor where we had a decent breakfast buffet every morning, which included fixings to make sandwiches for lunch as well. We also tried dinner in the restaurant once, although that area has lots of other dining options. The location is a beautiful world famous beach in a nice neighborhood, right next to the famous Copacabana Palace. Even in a great part of Rio like this, we were still concerned about crime, and took precautions about where we walked at night and kept valuables such as our wallets in the room safe instead of carrying everything around with us.
Good hotel. That whole street across from Copacabana Beach is lined with hotels. This one seemed like a good choice because it offered a "family suite" that had a king bed for the parents, plus a twin bed for our teenager. When we checked in, it was a pleasant surprise that they actually gave us two adjoining rooms for that reservation, so our teenager got her own room with two twin beds and her own bathroom. The rooms had an "ocean view" in the sense that you were facing a side street, but you could look to one side and see the ocean and beach (or look the other way and see the Christ statue on a hill.) The roof of the hotel had a small swimming pool. There was no hottub but the roof level had great views day and night and offered another dining option. There was also a restaurant on the ground floor that did a decent breakfast buffet, including ingredients to make sandwiches for lunches. The hotel loaned out towels you could take to the beach and had responsive bilingual people always available at the front desk. It's a nice neighborhood, but anywhere in Rio, even nice areas like this, tourists need to use caution. We didn't have any problems with crime, but were careful about where we walked at night and left valuables in the safes in our rooms rather than carrying around full wallets, etc.
Propiedad vieja en no muy bien estado. Toallas, sábanas, muebles, viejos y algo cochinos. No me quedaría de nuevo aquí.
Love the staff!
Although we only stayed one night we really enjoyed our stay. We arrived there after an 8 hour transfer and it was just what we needed. The rooftop bar has the most incredible views and we ordered room service and it was delicious. As a coeliac I really appreciated the menu showing a selection of gluten free items.
As an American that spoke NO Portuguese, my stay was still amazing. Everything from the menus to the documents in the rooms were in both Portuguese and English. The only thing in the room that was not both was the book that explains the services at the hotel. But honestly, that was minor as i could easily translate the pages with my phone. The buffets on Saturday and Sunday for lunch is incredible. My only complaint was my shower head in my bathroom was older and if it had options like pulse or rain, it would have felt much better on my sunburn. Oh, and please explain the blue card to foreigners, it took me a few minutes to realize that was for power and air conditioning. 😊 I will come back again. Thank you to the entire staff. Obrigado.
Hotel was bu the beach and many restaurants were within walking distance.
I have Been in Rio many many times since 1988. I happened to stay at this Hotel, in 2000. we had 3 rooms, then. To my surprise the lobby was the same, but 25 years older, so was the room and Furniture It seems to me that the owners, Are very, Very Cheap! They haven’t spend a penny since my last stay.( Staff were very nice, the only plus!) AC made so much noise that I ended up turning it off, so I can sleep with ( heat was preferred over noise!) The Best way to describe it? THET CHARGE WITH , $, $€, &£, AND spend Rials 😜 I DONT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL!
everything very clean and the staff very friendly
Nice hotel, great location. We were allowed to check out lat, and then store our bags and use their facilities right up to our 8PM flight. Very accommodating!
We like the location and the quality service and rooms.
Very nice place to stay. Inside was safe, clean, and very pleasant. The rooftop pool and view are also nice
Excelente opción en Copacabana
El hotel es excelente, el servicio y la atención al cliente excelente también. La comida del restaurante buenísima y la ubicación frente a Copacabana también fue muy buena. Las vistas desde la terraza y desde mi habitación increíbles.
Pool area and restaurant need a refurb but the hotel is actually very nice, communal areas just seem very dated. Staff are really friendly including the managers, when I had an issue with my room, she ensured it was changed to a much nicer room
The service exceeded all my expectations.
El staff del hotel muy amables . Cerca de restaurantes y shopping.
Great location! Right across the street from the beach and in a prime area in Copacabana. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I love the location & the staff is amazing!!! We have stayed there many times & they always remember us!!
Excellent hotel
Excellent Location
Great location. Service excellent
Loved it here
Great location with excellent staff
Helpful staff and responsive to needs. Great location to restaurants and beach.
Very poor service staff not friendly
The staff wasn’t friendly
Definitely overpriced hotel. The room and furnitures are old and outdated. They charge 99 BRL for breakfast, which is not worth to pay. Note that they didn't grant any Expedia discount for the breakfast, which they don't mention during check-in.
Copacabana zum Genießen
Nach Preis/Leistung die beste Adresse auf Copacabana für einen entspannten Aufenthalt! Die Aussicht aus den Meerblickzimmern ist fantastisch!
Being our 4th visit to a Windsor in Copacabana and our 3rd at the Excelsior we have a level of familiarity, and expectations which are consistently met. The staff on the ground level and front desk, the room cleaning staff, and of course the whole roof top crew are always professional and we have never been let down. Obviously we'll be back again.
location
Terrible experience
service, location, rooms quality
Roof top pool.
Ok
The hotel/staff/location were great. Great view of the beach from the 5th floor. AC is powerful. The breakfast is amazing! The shower pressure is fantastic. The doors/walls are thin, so you can hear noisy neighbors sometimes. There wasn't a lot of room for clothes (we were there for 2 weeks and had a lot of clothes).
It was a comfortable stay.
Avoid!
Hotel super dated, our room had a few damaged things, such as floor boards. The flush was a joke, basically not working. Hotel staff were not very helpful. Our room was not very clean and the pool was also dirty. I would never stay in this hotel again. The only positive thing about this place was the water pressure and location.
Arrived very early , we must be wait until 3 pm por checking, don’t gave us option to accommodate before
No VIP services were available. Our bedsheets were dirty. Called twice and no one came. Had to stop a maid in the hallway to change the sheets.
Rooftop bar/area is very nice - view of copacabana, sugarloaf and christ the redeemer.
Prime location in Copacabana, great breakfast and the staff were nice. Rooms need some work.
Great location. Clean hotel. Friendly staff
J’ai beaucoup aimé l’hôtel, le personnel très gentil très serviable. J’avais une chambre simple mais très confortable. L’hôtel est très bien entretenu la piscine magnifique. Merci pour ce séjour et je reviendrai à cet hôtel.
Great hotel and fabulous service
The check-in process is laborious and confusing. The staff is not very friendly. The rooms are very small. We were given two twin beds for a family of four. The sheets were stained and I had to request new ones. There are no amenities. The accommodation does not commensurate with the price and I guess people choose this hotel because it is close to the beach. I would definitely not recommend!!
Friendly, but avoid if you can
The staff were very kind and helpful, but this is far from a four star hotel. The property is quite worn and could use a renovation. I also saw loose hairs in my room, the shower products looked expired, the shower head was rusted/molded and the shower itself looked like it was made of raw dry wall.
The location is perfect; however, the manager Thiago is arrogant. The rest of the staff is okay, not particularly friendly except for the bellboys and the guys outside. On my last night, I couldn’t sleep because of the noise from the room above. I had to call reception three times (the guy on duty tried to help), but the following day, when I went to complain, the manager was arrogant again. I also noticed that the treatment toward Latinos isn’t the same as for Europeans. The cleanliness was good, but the hotel needs a renovation. The bathrooms look old, and the TVs are very small (the one in my room was fine, but the ones in other rooms were not as good).
Hhki
Not a bad stay and hotel employees were kind
Staff was very helpful, room was clean, water pressure is fantastic and right on the beach.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a perfect location on Copacabana beach for a competitive value. The breakfasts were very good and the staff is great!
The staff has been great. Extremely helpful.
The property is in a great location! Walking distance to beach, many restaurants and shops. The room had many issues….mold in the bathroom, lights flickering, AC had to be fixed, outlets not working, key constantly needed to be reset, elevator doors close on you while walking in (to the point I have bruising), when staff would clean the room the floors were never swept and toliet paper not refilled. Breakfast Buffett was ok nothing crazy, but overall the staff was GREAT. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
O funcionário Vinicius foi muito gentil e competente ,destacando -se dos outros funcionários. Recomendo a amigos e parentes.
The property was in prime location in copacabana and the staff was amazing.
Overall, not a great experience. Room was outdated. Staff was not friendly. No VIP perks presented. Would not recommend
Rooftop
Al good
The General Manager (Karoline?) was amazing. Great customer service, fantastic English, and very accommodating.
The rooms were dated
Bellissimo hotel con staff estremamente gentile. Ci hanno fatto un upgrade gratuito della stanza che dava sulla spiaggia. Bar con piscina sul tetto. Ci tornerei sicuramente.
Perfect will stay again
Staff spoke English and were able to exchange US dollars.
The Windsor hotels are the Mc Donald’s of hotels. Unfortunately my customer decided to put me there. Air conditioning is old and noisy, there is no hot water in peak hours, the room was dirty, I found an empty package of crackers yesterday when I went back to the room and it was not mine. Today at 7am someone entered in my room (staff I assume). The personnel simply do not care. Will never use again Windsor hotels.
Get the super deluxe for the view. Amazing staff.
Pay for one of the expensive rooms - the view is worth it. The staff are amazing. Lovely hotel.
I recently stayed at Windsor Excelsior and I had an excellent experience. The staff was really kind. The property is ideally located in Copacabana, in front of the beach with easy access to local shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely return.
A great place to stay in the Copacabana- the front desk staff were very kind and helpful ! Breakfast was very good and the location is excellent ! We would stay here again !
A tv não funcionou mas trocaram por uma outra sem problemas. O piso dentro do quarto poderia ter sido limpado, estava um pouco sujo.
Staff friendly and were quick to handle tasks. Good area. While there are better places, I often staff here because of the value. The price point is good. It is a safe, clean, dependable option, with good restaurants nearby. Everything you need is nearby, pharmacy, money exchange.
Great staff
Good neighborhood, everything you need nearby. As Expedia Gold VIP I got room upgrade with full view of ocean.
The hotel is good for a short stay.
Nem mesmo os melhores quartos disponibilizam Smart TV. Aparelhos antigos.
Beautiful place to stay!
Nice hotel at the beach
Not very hotel in a great location. Room and bed where very nice but the hotel lacked a nice bar or lounge area to hang out besides the pool area and bar.
I didn’t receive any VIP benefits. Location is really good because the hotel is in Copacabana beach but is extremely old and needs to be renovated. The quality of the breakfast is not really good.
Wonderful location, the staff were so helpful and patient with non-English speakers (like us) and had great recommendations for dinners and just all around wonderful! We had a lot of questions, and each person was so kind and helpful. We felt safe and the location is perfect for walking to everything and great views from the rooftop pool!
I loved my room with the beach view. The staff were nice. The only issue I had was when trying to check out and I had $26 of incidentals. Unfortunately I was pick pocketed a block from the hotel and they took my cash and debit/credit card. They do not accept Discover cards which was the only thing I had left so I was held up for an hour getting to the airport while trying to find an ATM, which also did not accept Discover cards. It was a mess over $26
The place is amazing. The view is incredible. The people were super nice. The beds were very comfortable. The food was delicious.
The staff is great and location excellent. The hotel has seen better days.
Good hotel, friendly staff except one night in the pool area that I had issues with a disrespectful person in the bar. Also, I got stuck in the elevator but the personnel worked really well and safely to solve the elevator problem.
liked the location but the check in staff was not very informative and misinformed us about the 2 booking we had , didnt tell us we had to check out and. then check in for the reservations we had as they were consecutive days .they charged us late check out fee which is very unfair . the sink was leaking from bottom ,,, ac was not working. properly,, housekeeping service was not very efficent
Everything was great! The property just needs to be updated.

I enjoyed my stay, the service was great
great location, room clean, staff very helpfull.
Great hotel
Great place to stay, nice staff, clean, great location! Recommended!
We booked the executive suite for our stay but noticed that the bathroom was still dirty when we checked in. Our housekeeper moved our shoes to a cabinet but no one including future housekeepers could find them. Upon check out we asked them to do a room check twice and both times were told our shoes were missing until we insisted on checking ourselves and found a hidden cabinet door and looked. Overall the service could be way better for the price we paid and the hotel looks very outdated which is why we will not be staying here again.
I had a terrible experience here. The staff was friendly until they weren’t. The first day or two was great. The room was clean despite being a bit outdated and the pool area was very nice. I enjoyed being close to the beach and near major sites. One evening, the tv fell off of the wall and onto the floor ON ITS OWN. When alerting the staff, they sent up a very rude manager that accused us of throwing it to the floor. My partner and I travel frequently and have NEVER experienced such rudeness and disrespect. The manager asked how it happened and I in turn was asking him how this could’ve happened since I didn’t mount the tv myself and didn’t even touch the tv once. All tv programs were in Portuguese, which I don’t speak. I had no reason to use or touch the tv. He then left and came back up with a cc machine demanding payment for the tv and refused to discuss the matter further until we had no choice but to pay $350. I was absolutely floored at the interaction and was VERY disappointed. I would NOT recommend and would NOT return to any hotel with the Windsor logo.
Great Location & Good Value
The hotel is in an excellent position, right on Copacabana beach. It has a very old fashioned feel about it and could definitely do with a spruce up. The room felt dark but everything worked and it was perfectly acceptable. The breakfast choice was good and so was the service. The provision of beach towels was a bonus. The pool is very small. The roof bar is lovely although on occasion it was frequented by large groups of families or loud Americans which really spoilt it. If groups were asked to tone it down a bit it would improve the atmosphere for other guests. Overall good value for money.
Convenient location across from the beach. Some decent food options. Staff were kind and helpful. The rooms are a bit outdated but overall clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
Excellent location.
Breakfast was great, location was great and nice rooftop pool. Air con was a bit on the loud side.
The ocean view of Copacabana beach from my room window & king size bed that that I had requested when I made my reservation
Would definitely come back to this hotel.
Unbeatable location on Copacabana Beach. Could use updating and a deep cleaning but overall an excellent value. We’d be happy to stay here again!
