Avoid - for sure there’s better options.

This hotel is very outdated with mould in a lot of areas and not living to its star category. I’ve stayed here 1 night and won’t return. The staff is that sort that don’t look you in the eyes and speaks in monosyllables because they don’t take any care on providing a good service. Check in takes ages for no good reason, they just need for some reason to type and type and type and type and type some more into their computer. The bedroom is super dated, the normal superior room as only 1 smallish window with a side view of the ocean with a small TV and decor from the 80s. It is relatively big though. The bathroom is also dated and full of mould, this shouldn’t be allowed.

Great hotel, nice rooftop pool

Easy check in

If you are looking to stay on a beach in heart if Rio this is not it. 40 min to airport and 20 from the samba show. Property is very nice. Food just ok. Top floor pool and views are excellent.

Really good

This is not a 5 star hotel property smiling and being nice at front desk it’s not enough. Do something about . Pool area is great only rooms and lobby need renovations big time everything was since 1995

I’m not sure this should have a 5 start rating. The staff was very nice and helpful. The property is relatively old and the rooms have not been redone in quite some time.

Excellent staff and a beautiful spot

Beautiful location. My room was fine - classic hotel. I was there for a conference so did not use most of the amenities. All interactions with the staff were extremely pleasant. They are cordial and patient (I don’t speak Portuguese)

Not sure why Expedia displays this hotel as a 5 stars. I would give it 3.5-4 starts tops. WiFi connection at the hotel is absolutely awful. It’s super slow (whenever works) and it drops every 5 minutes. I complained to the staff and reception and they couldn’t do anything to fix it. The toilet doesn’t work well either. No power or pressure. You flush it and not even your urine goes down until you flush it a few times lol. Hotel is in front of the beach but rooms have no balcony lol. The bedroom has a nice bed, shower is also nice, breakfast descent. This hotel is not a 5 stars lol. If you need WiFi for your computer, something more important than just navigating for pleasire, beware it won’t work here ‘

Amazing staff, amazing views, right on the ocean, food was so very good! Transportation services were quick and convenient; the guided tour package to the local spectacular sites is sooo well worth it!

I upgraded the room to sea view room and all the windows were so dirty that can't even see outside. I asked to change the room but it was not changed. also there was no bathrobes or sleepers in the room. I don't think I will stay again at this hotel.

Service and food is ok, room was very clean

5 star location, 3 star hardware, 1 star amenities and service. warning: no coffee machine or even a simple electic kettle in the room, not even when you request it. no complimentary drinking water, they'd charge you $3 for each small bottle of water. fitness room also poorly managed. the whole hotel management feels like 2-3 star style. consider you just get a bed close to the beach, that is it.

Beautiful property service was great

The hotel is lovely, the rooms comfortable, the location across from the beach superb, staff was excellent. The pool and hot tub were cold and the gym was very small with broken equipment.

Great welcome staff and security. This is a classic, Windsor Hotel, not a newer, modern sleek-hotel. Very clean hotel. Technology will need to be updated. No usb outlets to charge smart phones and/or electric tooth brushes. This definitely needs to be brought current!

Value for money stay

Great place to stay in Barra da Tijuca. Across from the beach, safe walk around the area, good restaurants close by and easy parking.

Need a better hair dryer.

Acceptable stay but not value for money

It’s max a 3 stars. Amenities are basic eg no kettle etc. room is spacious but fittings are dated. Rooms need to be refurbished. Lifts are scary, doors close even when you press open. Once it even skipped floors lucky it didn’t plunge. Breakfast was acceptable but not value for money. Staff were generally polite and service was on point. Location was good - close to beach and some restaurants.

Great Hotel

The staff here were not hospitable, and seemed to not like English-speaking guests (when they themselves spoke English). For instance, my room's safe did not work on the second day. When I called down for assistance, I was put on hold and hung up on *twice*. When I visited the desk to say the wi-fi in my room did not work, they said I needed to go to my room and dial 9 - when they could have just done this from their own phone. No one explains the beach towel pick-up clearly. And then, they will tell you they can book a tour for you, but when we asked them to on our way out, we came back at the end of the day and given a card, telling us we could book it ourselves. Also, we had been to breakfast four times before we were offered made -to-order options; no one bothered to tell us and it isn't obvious. As for the room, decently equipped, but how can a beachfront hotel have no place to hang a wet suit in your room? Rugs was stained, sheets were coarse and not comfortable.

You can take my review with a grain of salt, my opinion the hotel is an old hotel probably made when Die Hard was in the theaters and had never been undated since! There service was okay we had some issues in our room which they tried to fix but the issues we had where not fixable the items where just old products which need to be replaced. Again I’m not out to bash the hotel but it’s not my thing I like smaller boutiques like hotels this is a big outdated hotel with nice people that work there.

Across from the better (less crazy, cleaner and more natural) beach in the Rio area. 30 minutes from Downtown and the craziness of Copacabana. The hotel is a solid 3 star property with a simple lobby, old amenities and aging facilities. Staff were hit and miss, the gym broken for the 5 days we were there (needed one single bolt) hot water took 10 minutes to reach ‘warm’, and although we complained about the air conditioning, no one seemed to be able to fix it. (So we froze the whole 5 days) That all said… it’s a good value and the staff that were good were great. The beach is amazing and it’s a great neighborhood with an amazing Italian restaurant next door (Fratellis) Great value for money… and it’s a solid 3 star hotel.

Our trip to Rio was initially planned as a work conference though my family was able to join me. Overall, the hotel itself was gorgeous. Impeccably clean and modern. The food in the hotel restaurant and various bars was really good. The attention to detail in the conference center could not have been better. The pool was pretty though small. The hotel proximity to the beach compensates for the small pool. My only complaint was that I am an active person and enjoy using a gym in the morning time. The hotel gym had a # of equipment pieces that were broken. I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation. The Windsor Barra made our stay in Rio exceptional.

The hotel has very high standards and it shows, breakfast is great and the location in front of the beach is ideal. Hotel's restaurant was also very good. It could improve it's internet, Wi-Fi is not good and it gets disconnected with no aparent reason a lot. TV in room is smart, but for some reason is not able to connect to the Wi-Fi.

Great location for vacation!

In summary, very disappointing. Marketing photos are a lie, no umbrellas by the pool, no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach. We asked the duty manager and they claimed that they can't have umbrellas by the pool due to the wind but hotels opposite with the same level rooftop pools have them and from old photos it appears this hotel used to have them. He also claimed the ones on the lower level have broken. Like so many things in this hotel it appears hotel management are unwilling to invest in replacing old and broken things. The rooms are looking very old and worn, with mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, and clearly haven't been updated in 20 years. The level of cleaning isn't great which makes it worse. Level of service and room amenities are also poor: had to call 3 times for a baby cot bed and iron for the room, and no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. I don't understand how this hotel can be classified 4* without basic amenities and such old/worn decor. Also don't bother trying to order food at the rooftop pool as it takes over an hour when it's busy, despite them saying 15mins, and they don't keep track of who ordered first so don't be surprised if someone else orders after you but gets their food sooner. A huge shame as the location is amazing. The hotel could make a lot more money if they were willing to invest.

Amazing stay, will definitely come back in the future

The people is extremely nice and friendly. Howe ver, the property requires attention for the guest rooms. The fact that no complimentary water, coffeee and tea available with a coffee machine or similar is not acceptable for the room rate.

The hotel is a fantastic location right in Barra Da Tijuca. The ocean and beach views from the rooms and from the rooftop pool are breathtaking! The hotel is not brand new but the rooms were spacious, clean and very well cared for. The breakfast buffet is an incredible spread with so many fresh and delicious options for all. We enjoyed our time and the hotel so much extended our trip to stay an extra night because it was that awesome! But the best part of this hotel was hands down the staff and service. You truly feel you are in a 5 star hotel with the amazing level of service. I wish I could name all who helped us but everyone from the check in, front desk to the servers and bartenders, to all the staff at breakfast and the security guards, bellman, housekeeping, every single staff member treated us with the utmost level of kindness and superb service. This is what made our stay so memorable! Ok and the views plus location can’t be beat either! We are planning another trip to Rio next year so we can stay at the Windsor even longer! Thank you for a fabulous stay and for your commitment to providing excellent customer service!

Great service and location is perfect

We thought that the Hotel for the cost of our stay was a good value. The property was nice and the staff were excellent. Food in the restaurant was outstanding. We enjoyed our stay and my wife and I both said we would stay there again.

I liked the price. They will screw you over if they get the chance. Beware.

The hotel is on the beach, security at the property is great and they are serious.Breakfast is amazing, worth to include in your package.

Totally unacceptable that a 5 stay hotel has THE WORST GYM I’ve ever been to. Charged R$150 a day when I had a guest over for 2 days is absurd. Lobby staff wasn’t friendly. Pool staff was. Half of the power outlet in my room (1609) weren’t working after checking in. I would not be back. I will go somewhere else next time.

It was a relaxing experience

Good stay for short break.

Largely as expected large international-standard hotel. Excellent location right on the beach front with facilities within easy reach. Great breakfast buffet and nice pool area with fantastic views. Service is attentive, if a little slow, staff are friendly, but rooms are beginning to show their age and are a bit dated. Good choice for a short break.

Excellent location. However, the property's overall condition is visible suffering. The rooms look old, and the furniture looks like they were bought from a vintage store in the 80s. The service is average. For the price, I would expect more. It is not recommended for families.

Horrible service, never even checked in

Shocking

The hotel only has 220 V plugs. To rent a transformer to get you down to 110V was difficult and we were told we could only have it for 15minutes. Even more shocking than their odd electrical was their service. Room service needed to be paid for on the spot as opposed to charging to the room. And while the staff was friendly enough they seemed incapable of providing service.

Friendly staff, good facilities, nice location opposite beach, few minutes ride to two popular golf clubs, very clean and comfortable.

Liked that the staff was very nice. Didn’t like the fact that rooms were not cleaned properly but most of all DID NOT like the fact that they served the same exact breakfast every single day. They didn’t even switch it up at all.

I've been in better hotels. Would have been 5 stars but breakfast was limited and had no variety. Staff is above and beyond but food was cold. Location is ideal. Id recommend but should concentrate on BF.

I certainly recommend this hotel! Everything was great, really met my expectation!

I left a deposit of 800 Reais, two weeks later this money has not reappeared on my credit card. Same issue with rental car companies, you have to go back and fight for your money. Perhaps I will avoid Brasilian companies in the future.

Bad caipirinhas

Rooftop caipirinhas served with little alcohol. That was actually an issue at other places in Rio. Hotel is clean but starting to get outdated. Great sauna though

Perfect stay in Barra da Tijuca

Fabulous property right across from the beach. The room was clean, comfortable and safe. The buffet breakfast each morning was wonderful and the staff was amazing. Especially enjoyed the tub. The rooftop pool was amazing, also.

Check in antecipado realizado de forma rápida e prática, equipe foi bem atenciosa! Quarto deixou muito a desejar em relação a qualidade da rede Windsor. Banheiro sem box, apenas cortina, muitas marcas de bolor no teto, além de porta quebrada e sem tranca. Colchão mole que afundava ao deitar, ou seja, um colchão velho. TV antiga onde não possuía nem opção para Smart TV, somente canais abertos. Fiquei decepcionado com o quarto. A estrutura do hotel é excelente, piscina aquecida, atendimento do Staff ótimo além do café da manhã muito bem servido.

This hotel is wonderful. I stayed several times here and will continue coming back. The property is maintained in excellent condition. The rooms are spacious and super clean. Breakfast is fantastic with so many options. Location is the best, right on the beach and near many restaurants. Best choice in Barra!
