Simple Serenity
In the heart of Port Renfrew, is a jewel of cozy comfort. Simple yet, perfectly equipped with everything you need. I’m planning on making this a monthly adventure from the hustle to take in #wildrenfrew and the abundance of nature it has to offer. ❤️
Very good value for paddlers.
The good: Overall great experience. Clean and well maintained. Good coffee. The bad: Mattress was sunken in the middle and not comfortable. Limited hot water. Despite not having the most comfortable sleep We would stay here again.
Check in was horrible. I had called the property in advance to tell them that I would be arriving late and ask what the check in protocol was and they assured me I just need to show up and someone will be there. I arrived exhausted at midnight and the office was closed. I tried to call them and no one answered. I drove around the property for 20 minutes looking for someone to ask about check in and couldn’t find anyone. I was trying to find another hotel to book when it was only by a struck of luck I went up to the main building and found a mailbox with a key. Would’ve been helpful if I was told late check in protocol when I called in and was given misinformation…
We had a wonderful couple days and enjoyed the easy access to hiking on the beautiful island
Comfortable place to stay
-
Room was very clean. It is a fairly basic room, but does the trick. We booked a kitchenette and this was useful. We brought food (for sandwiches, etc.) from Victoria as there is limited food nearby. Very well located for the Botanical Beach and one of the Juan de Fuca entrance points. Staff, particularly the front desk person, was very helpful. The pub is within easy walking distance and has excellent food.
We were disappointed that the West Coast Lodge did not have a restaurant as advertised on the websites. Also we were not able to get live TV channels, only streaming channels.
Bring what you need. The guest services area does not have very much. The bed was very comfortable. The tub was amazingly deep allowing for a nice soak after hiking all day. The room was cozy and quiet. We were there 2 nights and I never heard our neighbors. The pub has a nice atmosphere.
Pros: The location was easy to find and the price was lower than some of the other accommodations in the area. Cons: The bathroom sink and shower were slow draining, and the toilet was not very secure and would tip forward when sitting on it. While overall the room was serviceable, it was on the small side for our family with our bags. I would not recommend staying here more than one night (but I believe you have to book a minimum of two nights.)
Quick check in, comfortable beds
Beautiful property. Great coffee and hotel room setup.
Great location. Check-in desk staffer was a little gruff but the property is very nice
Clean and efficient rooms.
The property was a beautiful place to stay after a long day of hiking. The room was very clean and had a great little kitchenette. Water pressure was kind of low but to be expected so remote and the water was nice and hot and bathroom very clean. Wifi wasn't great but sort of enjoyed being disconnected for a few days. Apparently there was a bear nearby (we were told be staff) but we didn't see it. Enjoyed the Beach Camp coffee and chatting with it' s friendly staff. Renfrew Pub was delicious. All in all a great stay.
Clean
Staff at reception not particularly welcoming or customer focused.Seemed more focussed on explaining the rules. Only 2 recommendations for local restaurants and it seems they may have an interest in those. Room was good and clean but they could have tidied the outside are to give some sort of view. We were in the lodge at the rear. Just felt slightly disappointed.
quiet out of the way place, had a good rest, our bed was too soft though, other than hiking or fishing charters not much to do. no shopping or food stores, loved the cafe had a nice vibe we drove from Sooke so the road was super rough in our truck. A place to visit for the day!
This place was perfect! Exactly what we needed, easily accessed and the room had everything we needed: cutlery, cups, plates, bowls and paper towel.
Super dirty bathroom and bed sheets, and basically no service
Never met any staff, but that was ok. Power went out in the town, so generators were noisy.
We enjoyed our stay.
Stayed in lodge for a couple nights, it was easy to get to and from there explore the area. Handy having the small kitchenette to make a quick breakfast, coffee, toast, etc. Slept well in the comfortable beds.
Nice 2 Day Stay
Room was good, small but good. Close to everything as Port Renfrew is very small.
Quaint hotel in beautiful Port Renfrew. Very close to the local pub, Botanical Beach, and the Juan de Fuca trail.
Stay was great, could have done with some lighting down the road, more for walking to and from the pub
Quiet hideaway
Amazing customer service, the rooms were spotless and super quiet. The staff made us feel right at home even though we were over 1400 kms away! I highly recommend this quiet spot.
Not good value for money. Our room was overlooking a car park and the internet didn’t work well. Cleaning could be improved.
Recently updated. Bathtub plug was broken, so couldn't use bath. No breakfast at the lodge, only one small place further down the road offered breakfast. There was a small microwave and fridge in room.
Fantastic stay. I would recommend it.
Your enjoyment here sadly depends a lot on your neighbours. We spent two nights here and both times our neighbours were loud and oblivious, and both nights I couldn't fall asleep because of their snoring. However if we were alone or with quieter people I'm sure it would have been much more restorative. The property is simple but clean and well kept. It is expensive compared to other B&Bs and guesthouses in the area in terms of what you get for your dollar, but I would visit here on the off season again. The staff were rather shy at first which throws me off when it comes to customer service, but they were sweet enough to indulge me in conversation and they proved to be all truly wonderful!
Surprised there was no air conditioning. Room was stuffy and hot due to high temperatures outside. The mattress didn't feel good, had trouble sleeping. Only a few parking spots in front of rooms. If all spots taken, had to park slightly further away on unpaved area which was dusty. Difficult to wheel luggage on gravel but it was only a few feet of inconvenience. The staff were stellar. Very friendly and helpful.
Great location, but the rooms are a little tight.
Room was clean and good amenities. Lights on building are on all night for security. I asked and they removed one so was darker in room. Windows did not have full blackout drapes. Asked about doing laundry - they didnt have facility i could use. No boats out of dock nearby. Just hiking trails. Great restaurant/pub onsite. Internet good most ofvthe time. Very good & friebdly staff.
Nice clean rooms. Good pub with food a short walk away. Grounds well kept. Good place to stay in Port Renfrew.
Very laid back setting. Clean with adequate standard amenities. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We were having difficulty accessing some TV functions and a staff member was happy to come up the road from the office to help us out.
Friendly staff, quiet. The room had garbage left behind from the last guests (dirty chip bags in the drawers) and the bath tub was dirty. There was a super bright light right outside our window and the blinds barely blocked it out making it very hard to sleep. Overall not horrible, however it wasn’t exactly cheap.
Very Clean & Comfortable. Friendly staff
room was very comfortable and quiet. There's not much in. Port Renfrew. We were there in the off season (right after Christmas) but there were some great beaches just to the south of the port and we loved exploring them
Location is perfect! The only thing we found was that the fridge was a little noisy when sleeping. Thankfully it turned itself off every so often throughout the night. :(
I booked 2 rooms during Thanksgiving for 2 nights. One room has a broken fridge that keeps leaking water. I brought it to the staff's attention, but they did nothing. They did not change sheets or clean our rooms during the 2 nights I stayed there.
Nice place to stay prior to hiking the trail. Rooms were clean etc.
It was a nice convenient place to stay. Nice that the office stayed open late, even though we didn't need to use it late.
Cozy lodge. Beds were comfortable. Staff excellent.
For what the town offers its a good location as its close to the pub, the only place open in the evenings. Could use some areas to sit outside, they have a few chairs on a sloping lawn. For the price compared to others it was good value.
Great staff. Very friendly and helpful Rooms were comfortable and quiet
Not worth a penny!
Good gift shop and the pub opposite was great.
Simple rooms. Recently renovated. Quiet. Comfy beds. Hit and miss wifi but didnt bother me as wasnt there to surf wifi.
The rooms are very nice. Only wish they had fans. No AC, but typically doesn’t get hot here. But some sort of air circulation would be nice for sleeping.
Clean rooms well located to facilities.
Beautiful setting! Nice size room. I wish thete were more food options but we made do.
Clean room. Noisy though. Husband got sick. Staff would not refund second night charge. We had to leave so we lost almost $200.00.
I had a great stay! The room was super clean and had everything I needed. The staff was also super friendly. Only wished the people in the other rooms were quieter, cause I could hear very well the other rooms.
Everything was great about this property, the only bad thing is that we could hear footsteps and people talking from upstairs. It's unfortunate there isn't good isolation between floors.
Best place to stay in Port Renfrew, easy walk to the pub for food and drinks and short pier for stunning views. Close to hiking trails.
Staff were very friendly and warm. Our room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. Fridge, coffee maker and kettle. Only one thing missing......Wish it would've had a microwave in the room. It's nice that they offer a restaurant/pub for lunch or dinner.
This was a clean and quiet location for visiting the area, good beds, towels, and shower, easy check in and out, very good value for money.
Pleasant staff, quiet room, quick walk to the pub for dinner
Easy check-in - clean room - great location.
Televisions dont work in room No outlets to use besides in bathrooms
New renovation and quiet environment. We stayed at the ground level and heard people running around upstairs though
Loved our stay here. The Lodge was beautiful and clean. Tv had Netflix and Prime. Kettle, coffee maker (with AMAZING local coffee) and a bar fridge. Local wild life everywhere. You can walk to the local pub and restaurants when they are open for the busy season (May long weekend-Sept). Port Renfrew pub at the end of the driveway is open when we were there in April and is your only restaurant open. Everyone in the area is very friendly. No cell service but that is a nice break from technology. New building and very clean. Keyless entry doors. Highly recommend this place!
Nice place, not quite as fantastic as the oceanside cottages but in close proximity to the Renfrew Pub, wharf and local attractions. One thing to note is the absence of microwave in the regular room, it was a bit of a surprise given most or all motels have a microwave.
I enjoyed my stay. Location is convenient to the pub for meals. Very nice
Great little place
Very nice hotel. No contact check in was easy. We were the only ones there, was midweek. Very quiet. Nice pub nearby. It's the only place to eat during the week in winter. It's quite good, great service. Nice hiking at the beach. Room was comfortable. TV didn't have much available. Clean except the coffee pot still had the last guests grounds and coffee in it. Everything else was quite clean.
Stay was good overall but the building is older and has a very sensitive breaker, so needed to be mindful of what appliances we were using. When we boiled water or used hair dryers we can see the light dimming and changing. We also stopped watching TV as we lost power for a split second after turning on the TV which was a bit scary.
Great stay….met our needs completely. Lots of email to review, so no contact check in and check-out, though simple, was not effort free.
I didn’t like how thin the walls are at this property. The people staying next to us blasted music at all hours of the day and night!
The ocean side cottages were right at the water where as the lodge is up on a hill away from the water front with trees blocking any view of the ocean.
beautiful setting. The place was very well appointed and clean.
Great location and easy to settle into. Clean and comfy. Rated lower as there was a used towel in the bathroom when we arrived. Concerned about the constantly running toilet and the amount of water wastage. We notified the office, but didn't hear anything back.
Beautiful lush area
The room was spotlessly clean. It had a tea kettle which was great as I'd forgotten to bring mine. There were stools to use if sitting at the table - no chairs and no recycling bins.
Beautiful spot. The staff is very friendly. There are beautiful trails to hike and wildlife viewing opportunities. It is a small community and has limited services. There were only two restaurants open and they closed at 7 and 8 pm respectively. The pub's food was very good!
It’s okay. Some coffee was left in the coffee maker, there were not enough bath towels for the number of people stayed on the first day.
Staff were pleasant. But only given 2 towels for 3 people for 3 nights and 1 roll of toilet paper. Make sure you ask for an extra before the office closes at 7:00. Staff won't make your bed. It's a step
Botanical Beach
Port Renfrew with its majestic beaches, parks, and wilderness is a wonderful place to get back to nature for a few days.
Good condition with all necessities Incl. kitchenette and wifi.
Room was not clean: dirty carpet, dust everywhere, washroom was not clean probably weeks. And they asked you to clean dishes otherwise $75 fee will charge. Kitchenette’s supplies was not working properly, especially MV. There were few spiders webs in the room! Wifi is terrible. Owners needs to put more effort in their hospitality business.
Very clean, well-outfitted little kitchen, very comfy beds, good sound-proofing, central location.
Two queen bed room is very small and ok for two people but not more. The beds were hugely uncomfortable. It rained the one day and I would not recommend this room to relax in. Cottages by the water seemed better. One restaurant operating under COVID would only allow indoor dining ?? There was a whole patio outside but did not allow seating. The town restaurants only open Thurs-Sun then one closes at 6:15 pm and would not take our order - terrible. Beautiful area but would not recommend staying in Port Renfrew during COVID unless you camp and bring your own food. There is nothing to do in the evenings in this town.
Basic accommodation with no frills. The room was clean and the hotel is close to Botanical Beach and the Renfrew Pub.
No room cleaning Expensive
Liked the location, cleanliness and room. No dislikes
Overall the stay was good however there isn't AC. Which i understand but there wasn't a fan in the room and when requested was not able to get. Room was very warm and made it hard to sleep.
It was fine
The fact that for the money paid there was no house keeping and they hid the garbage cans in the closet. Not cool. 258$ per night is far too much
The check in and check out process was straightforward and the hotel does a good job communicating via email. We got the kitchenette suite, which was roomy and clean. However, the mini fridge starting up was very noisy and woke us up in the middle of the night. The bed and pillows were also too soft for our liking. So we didn’t feel rested the entire stay and ended up checking out early.
Good spot close to harbor and pub. THe pub is walking distance and the food there is pretty good! Nothing special about this Lodge but for those looking for a clean bed and warm shower it works well. It does have a nice outside area where you can sit and enjoy the views.
Cheaper to book direct… good lodge
It was a good place to stay at. Port Renfrew is a bit out of the way, so there wasn’t many food places around. The lodge itself was pleasant, seemed to be newly furnished. Overall my experience with the lodge was good. However… my experience with Hotels.com was not. I originally saw the lodge on their own website on Wild Renfrew at a lower cost than how much Hotels.com has listed out stay for. I booked through Hotels.com anyway knowing there would be a price guarantee… however, hotels.com did not honour it. It took me 6 separate calls where the agent didn’t even really listen to what I’m saying (they keep reciting scripts it seems). I even took a screenshot of the lodge’s website to show the price difference. I tried explaining to hotels.com that by the time they tried to verify the price difference, all the rooms on the lodge’s website was sold out already- so they couldn’t verify it (but I did provide a screenshot). I had to email the screenshot to them multiple times and still, they didn’t honour it. Anyway… I was disappointed in general. I’ve been a silver member of years and it seems like the customer service, best rate guarantee and such is all a marketing gimmick. I will be booking directly in the future and not trusting hotels.com’s best price guarantee anymore.
WCT Lodge had ever we needed for our stay before & after our 7 day hike
I didn't like looking at a huge rock. Would of preferred a room in the front. The mattresses in our room were hard and we had sore backs each morning. Sheets were soft and clean.
Gavin was very helpful, because the tv didn’t work. He came and fixed the issue. But, he didn’t know the book with lots of information wasn’t required. The cleaning gals knew. So, I guess there needs to be more communication. The info was sent in an email, which I didn’t get because there is no internet. It’s a wilderness thing.
Nice view
A good lodging experience. The power went out for the night we stayed
Most affordable I could find, quite a nice boutique downstairs and super close to THE ONLY pub. Too bad we couldn't stay seated all night as the whole town needs to eat the tables have to turn fast. Nice folks checking in and out, outstanding staff all around Port Renfrew.
The lodge was great. Very clean and friendly. Just a quick walk down to the pub. You can hear the waves crashing from the room. It would be nice to have a small breakfast set up since there was no place open for breakfast during our stay.
Nothing to do. No trail walks. No beach walks. Botanical beach closed. Pub diner closed early...no dinner. TV didn't work. No bath-tub plug.

Amazing place and a great price
