The gentlemen who checked us in was rude. The shower was a foot of the floor, I am elderly and nearly slipped getting out back to floor.
This place is old and in dire need of repair. Curtains were torn, room was dark, shower was not worth stepping into. We had to drag our bags from car park, through an old, dingy unused party room and up a stairway to 2nd level. Stairs had old, dirty carpet. Grounds were a mess of untrimmed bushes and garbage. Pool unusable due to scummy water
It was ok for the purpose thx
Good
This motel was very convenient for a function we had to attend near Matakana and within easy walking distance of the town. Though the unit we were given was spacious, it was dated, while the arrangement of the furniture was rather unusual in that it was difficult to access the bathroom. We also missed having a light/lights near the bed for reading.
Position..
size of rooms and cleanliness was ok, but there was so much evidence of poor maintenance
The older gentleman working there was so lovely, very helpful and was such a great first impression of the business. This was a last minute booking so we just needed a bed for the night, the duvet was a bit dirty (had some stains and bits on it) but overall the room was tidy and did the job. We had a double bed and I’d say it would have been worth the money to pay for a queen and have the extra room as it’s a tight double bed. Laundry facilities were great, we didn’t explore too much around the area but there are some decent shops close by incase you want to do any shopping. Overall a lovely place for a last minute booking!
Cockroachs and ants, non separate rooms as we asked for. Not impressed.
Absolutely delighful.
Space in the room is big nice an close to town
Very clean and tidy. Would happily stay there again.
Personal service and an upgrade to a spacious ground floor room thank you.
very friendly staff, maintenance but not a big issue
Great easy and safe. Friendly staff and clean well presented room
Felt welcomed, unit spotless, would use again
Older motel, great water pressure and hot water, looks like they only have a few rooms usable. Not recommend.
Very rundown
being update
Booked a bottom double room, for convience, was given smaller room upstairs, was far from car park and just needed to sleep. Room overlooked traffic lights was bit noisy and bright lights stayed on all night. Very pricey.
Adverage. No milk provided for cuppa. Bed base was broken so ended up putting mattress on floor to sleep, only place to wash dishes was bathroom sink. Hot water was only slightly off warm and took forever to come through.
This property, while convenient to what we were doing was quite run down. The bathrooms especially had no heating or exhaust fan leaving tiles slippery and everthing wet. The shower base has a sink hole that made you feel as though you would fall through. Our kids beds were dusty on the pillows and the air conditioning was seemed broken as we had it on 27degrees and there was hardly any noticable warmth coming outThe sponge to wash up with was damp and stained and hadn't been renewed. The lady who was in charge was really lovely and happy to replace the sponge. The beds were comfortable and we were warm enough. Probably wouldn't stay again.
It certainly has aged. We were there 52 years ago on our honeymoon. So of course it has aged, as have we!
Staff were helpful and friendly. Didn’t like the back door slide latch to lock. Should have a proper lock, since back into a side street. Outdoor grounds behind units unkept. Also Advertised in- room brochure that there was a Spa, but did not have a Spa on premises to use.
Location easy to find.. Clean and tidy but dated.
Convenient place to stop for the night on our northern trip.
Friendly and welcoming. A tea towel would be great in kitchen. Thank you.
Pleasant surprise
Great bed and pillow. Very clean. New carpet. Pleasantly surprised. Will stay again
Liked how quiet it was and was clean the room, found someone's toothbrush on top of the shower on the corner but apart from that it was very clean , tv doesn't connect to internet even though it comes up to connect but the lady was very helpful and let us know to tune it and it will work just normal channels, couldn't use pool as wasn't very clean and it's 5 foot deep we found out when we got there so unsafe for our little one .. apart from that was clean, quiet and very helpful people
Friendly and helpful staff, plenty of room, comfy bed, but building and furnishings a bit tired and shabby.
The shower is extremely dangerous and no hot water. The outside staircase is also difficult to manage. None if the down pipes are connected so with heavy rain the water just went everywhere.
Location was good
We were given a different room to that which we booked. The room we had was downstairs so we did not have to haul our luggage upstairs. We appreciated this. Our room was quiet and very comfortable.
Hassle free accomodation - friendly, clean, and comfortable.
Check in was seamless and very friendly, however the condition of the room was poor, the blinds in the kitchen were mouldy the floor in the shower was very unstable and felt as if you were going to go through it. Bathroom itself was otherwise very usable beds were comfortable the kitchenette was well appointed and the staff were so very very nice.
The friendliness of the staff, especially the receptionist was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. Because of circumstances, we arrived at 10am, and when I asked her if we could check in a little earlier than 2pm, she immediately offered us accomodation right then!!! Also changed us to a downstairs unit instead of the upstairs one that I had booked….much appreciated as we are elderly!!!
A bit run down Shower nozzle needs cleaning and difficult to access. Entry door glass screened by paper Friendly service in reception Noisy outside with cars back firing but not their fault
Was a pleasant stay. Thank you
Great staff
Great staff, friendly and were there to help!!!
Easy check in and close to shops
I was not overly happy with the room. The shower took forever to warm up, the pool tiles are all moving making it a bit unsafe when my son was swimming, the TV was so quiet I had to sit right in front of it to even hear it, and the room smelt really bad of old cooked meat, I was not overly impressed at all.
The Walton lodge was good value for money. It is a bit run down but it is clean and has most of what you need. The staff were really helpful and quickly fixed up anything that wasn’t right. Would recommend it for the budget conscious traveller.
It was very average and tired looking but really clean. Expensive for what it was
Location is great, its quiet even though its right next to the road. The lady on arrival was so nice and helpful. The accommodation is very dated and the beds are small. Parking infront of your room is very handy.
It was quiet and just fart enough out of the main township but close enough to walk
The room I stayed in might not have been representative of the rest of the property (?) but has a terrible odour and had to unplug the fridge as it continued to rumble through the night.
Very surprised our unit was cleaned, bed made and fresh towels were provided each day we were there. Very nice. Good value for the cost.
The lady at reception was wonderful. In fact, she was the highlight of the stay for us. She was friendly, welcoming and lovely to chat to. Carparking onsite was awesome, we could park directly in front of the room. The living room was spacious but the furniture, particularly the centre of the 2-seat couch, kept sinking down below the base and we kept having to adjust the cushions and pulling them up so we could get comfortable. The bedroom was small, as was the bed. More like a king single.bed than a double. My partner opted to try and sleep on the couch/fold out bed.....and woke up sore. The fold out bed sunk in the centre, had a hard bar underneath the top third of the bed and it made a terrible noise when he moved or turned. There was no soap in any of the dispensers in the bathroom at all, luckily we had our own. When i showered, the bath/floor mat was completely wet and of no use. The coffee sachets were so old the granules had melted together and become hard.....you had to tear the packets open and pull the chunk of coffee out. There were other little things like the broken handle on the closet cupboard just dangling, the extremely slippery bathroom floor, really dangerous when wet, and only 1 large towel for each adult (consider that 2 adults showering at night and in the morning AND a pool onsite, so swimming as well) perhaps 4 towels would be better than having to hang/reuse our towels. At $150 a nightextra towels, soap and actual coffee granules seems fair.
Could get any wifi in the room, the curtains did nothing at all, and with a light right outside the room it would have been nice of the blocked out the light. The coffe sachets have obviously been in the room for a very long time because they were solid blocks, definitely just go buy one from town. There was no hand wash in the bathroom either
Was close to where we were going each day, Freeview , older look , quiet location,
It was nice and close to everything. Unfortunately lots of road noise.
The service was good but the unit was basic and rundown. The bed was not comfortable.
Very comfortable beds, pleasant staff, clean, but dated.
tired rpoerty but suited a purpose - was only accommodation we could get at short notice. Wouldnt say value for money but ok
Good location, Clean room, but all looking a bit tired and old
It was a good hotel for what we were after. Close to town. Check in was easy and nice staff. It was not until later when we realised that the bed linen had not been changed from the previous guests. We pulled back the bed covers and found items in the bed from the last persons stay
Nice little spot to stay to break up our trip. Room was comfortable however the wifi doesn’t work in the room, need to be close to reception for that possibly?
good average motel for the price and waking distance to town very good
Reasonable price. Comfortable bed. No soap in shower dispenser which must have been overlooked. Otherwise very happy and will return.
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Enjoyed the use of a cooling fan. Not so happy with the noise the toilet made after flushing.
Ok stay
Quiet considering location.. rather tired basic rooms
Site looks like it is a drop in for druggies and biker gangs.no privacy in room blinds dont work ,cant leave windows open due to no security stays.bed was comfortable.
Great service, beautiful location and got the resort holiday vibe. Loved it
Basic, but clean. Great location and friendly staff
Affordable Friendly Clean Convenient accommodation.
Dated but very clean staff very approachable A good location
very run down, the room wasnt what we booked and payed for on expedia,we asked for our room to be changed for the one we booked and had to pay an extra $39 for the right room
The staff were very happy to put things right when asked.
All around satisfactory. Only complaint would be that there was only a remote for the tv box and not the tv/monitor? But other than that, the bed was comfy, room and sheets were clean, etc. Perhaps you could also get a do not disturb sign or no housecleaning sign for the door for those who want to sleep in 😊
Very old and tired compared to web site photos. Pool put of order. Stains on pillows. Everything old and low budget. Half a roll of toilet paper for four people. Only two mugs and two glasses for a family of four. Musty smell to room. Queen bed was sunken causing roll together. Minimal power points. Overall disappointed.
Generally good. Hotel manager was very helpful. Some slight staining in the toilet and kettle but overall we were very pleased with the spacious and comfortable accommodation.
A little tired looking but everything needed was provided, quiet location close to town centre
Friendly, hassle free check in. Room adequate. Handy to town.
Good location. Friendly staff. Would recommend the motel to others.
Pleasant overall
The place was a little more "worn" than I thought it would be. Nothing was horrible but the bed and couch felt like they had seen better days. Everything was clean and the manager was a very pleasant person.
The front desk people were helpful and friendly. The motor lodge was close to the town.
Stay was pleasant but glasses and cups were all unclean and needed to be rinsed before use. Not ideal. But staff were really good. They are new owners and clearly have alot to do to bring the motel up to a better standard and I wish them well as they were really nice people. The premises definitely need tidying up alot.
Car park was small. Easy to find. Close to everything
Needs double glazing for traffic noise comfortable room and staff at desk were help full and great to deal with.
average overnight travel accommodation for age of pemises
Toilet not flushing well. Carpet very dirty. Lock on sliding door loose/not working.
Nice, clean hotel. Very quiet. Close to town. We had a very pleasant stay. Thank you
Would not recommend
Overpriced for what it is. We stayed for just one night, we only needed the room to sleep and we couldn’t even do that after being woken by a 1am phone call from management asking if we were with the people being noisy in another room, we were in fact fast asleep with our 6 year old. I found that incredibly rude and intrusive, we did not know anyone there and I don’t know why he assumed we were part of it or why he thought phoning random guests at 1am was a good idea.. The rooms were awkwardly appointed. The towels had stains and hairs on them. The glassware and dishes provided were absolutely disgusting covered in finger prints and filth. And we ran out of hot water after 2 short showers. Would definitely avoid staying here in future.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Would stay again.
Well, you do get what you pay for, but the room facilitities were pretty mean. Very thin duvets on beds on 2 very cold nights. I had to use a horse cover I had in my car on the bed the 2nd night! My friend slept in her jacket. 1 bedside lamp for 4 beds. No heater in bathroom - the heating light had obviously been taken out. Just mean things easily rectified at minimal cost to the owners. Parking was very tight and if the motel had been more full, I would not have been able to get out first thing in the morning!
Busy corner, tidy but a little dated
Friendly staff member greeted me but then we felt like we were being watched by family members. Accommodation inside was tidy and clean but a little dated, however, it was representated in the price. So a fair rate. Outside furniture was filthy. Although winter and unlikely to be used - the Pool was unclean.
Good over nite on trip close to #1 Hwy
Cheap and cheerful
Stayed one night for a wedding. Cheap and cheerful not much more to add. Fits its Star rating!
Stay was good just what we needed! Our toilet did stop working but reception was fast with getting it fixed. Bed was a little worn out but did the job 👍
This was an excellent stay for us. Then decided to stay another night. Quiet,Clean, tidy, comfortable, all you need for a stop over. Very Friendly and accommodating
You get what you pay for
This motel covers the basics and nothing more. It has a fridge, a bathroom, a bed, a tv and not a lot else. The inside of the Fridge was dirty and the piece of manky carpet it sat on was frayed and uneven. The Kitchenette took up half of the wardrobe so we had clothes hanging next to the microwave and toaster. We were given 1 blanket. No duvet or cover (as online room pictures suggested) but a single 1980's wool blanket. There were no others in the room. The tv offered only Freeview but the motel does offer complimentry WiFi which was good. We paid for 2 nights and the room was not serviced during that time. Check out is 10am however at 09:15 someone used a key to try and gain access to our room. The moral of the story is that you get what you pay for. The motel is the cheapest around so has that going for it, unfortunately we won't be back.
Handy to warkworth
Lovely staff, unfortunately no duvet for the double bed in our room but it was a warm evening so could do without it but was odd. Left something there and staff rang promptly to let us know which was much appreciated. Very handy to warkworth township.
Very nice proprietor but the motel shabby
Motel being rejuvenated after being let go Some smells toilet and musty in downstairs areas. Would wait a few months before returning Needs some method of cooling as open doors and windows let in the big traffic noises
Not a good thing to say about this Motel
The motel was at the best shabby and need of a complete renovation. Some painting had been done but was badly executed with roller overruns on skirting boards and light fittings . The room we stayed in had layers of dust on skirting boards, mould in the shower cabinet, justgrubby overall. The room was not serviced during our two day stay. The toilet took a long time to flush properly. Would say this motel is overpriced for the value of comfort and service provided. Very noisy due to location near a major road, no net curtains to give some privacy without closing the drapes. No wardrobe provided to hang clothes, a ‘naked’ light fitting outside the room door was on all night shining into the room.
Walton Park has new owners and is currently undergoing refurbishment. The new owner/manager is friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff are *great*. The rooms have a few problems. The wall plugs are oddly located and far from the bed so if you are a lying in bed net surfing type, bring a charger. The biggest problem is that the only way to cool the room is a tiny underpowered fan and of course that means that the windows / door need to be open to have any effect. That lets the street noise, which is considerable, in and also lets the insects in. The room would be ok in colder weather but can get dangerously hot in summer with no way to cool things down.
Nice tidy, honest motel in a great little town.
The motel is under new management and currently getting a well deserved freshening up. We stopped here for one night whilst returning from a fishing trip so was perfect distance to head into Auckland for a lunchtime flight. New management team seem to be taking the job seriously and are getting the whole place decorated, (with little disruption to operations which was great) Warkworth is a lovely town with some nice restaurants and cafes. Definitely recommend as a stop whilst touring the North Island.
Nice place
Very friendly staff and we got a very nice spacious room 25.
Very noisy motel situated beside a motorway
This review is not to be advertised! The bed was very comfortable The shower nice & clean but the water pressure was overpowering Windows need to be double glazed The motel was in the process of a reburish but the paintwork in our unit was a little bit to be desired
Easy to find
Comfortable clean room. Not enough parking and the traffic noise especially from hgv on the nearby SH1 was. disturbing. Double glazing would help.
