Poor design

Not so good ! Room #10 had an air conditioning that was set high and behind the balcony curtains, so running the aircon meant having open curtains to the sunlight and with no privacy. Also the shower had no racks for soap, shampoos etc….

Property Location is good. It’s spacious and good with clean linens and towels. Absolutely recommend. It’s close to the road so you can hear cars pass by every time even at night. We just turned on some white noise and slept through the night. Other than that we had an excellent stay..

The motel was in close proximity to a spot we were going to.

Great new Manager from Korea,very helpfull and friendly.

Lovely clean open spaced rooms friendly helpful staff with good communication 👏 We were just passing thu to Auckland and wanted to break up the trip this was perfect for us to stop at 😃

It just felt very institutional, especially the bathroom.

Pleasantly surprised

I was a bit leery about booking this lodge since i dont usually stay at motels. I booked it because there weren't many options available in waitomo and from what was available, this place had the best rating and looked ok. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised once we checked in. The room was spacious, very clean, had a kitchenette, good size fridge, lots of toiletries. We were able to use the laundry room ($4 NZD per machine). Check in was easy. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Assigned parking right in front of the room too. Only stayed 1 night but i would say this place is a very good option for anyone looking to stay a while in Waitomo.

Great room and comfortable beds but unfortunately too noisy at night due to freight trains and traffic.

Walls were thin, if you’re a light sleeper that might be a problem with the noise from the road. Otherwise was clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely stay at the lodge. Only needs a shower caddy for soaps etc… other than that it was great! Thank you for a lovely service. Room 4 😊

Quick overnighter

We got in late so reception was closed but key was left for us to get into room. Very nice comfortable room, perfect for our overnight stay.

Convenient to the village but very noisy due to SH3 and rail line went on all night

Overnight stay. Late arrival, early departure. Served my purpose of a comfortable sleep during my journey. Second time I have stopped here,

We had a rental car so this property made a good lodging option for the Waitomo Caves area, which is about a 15-minute drive. The "river" deck (I think we rented a "premium king") is a deck with not much river. The room was clean and had housekeeping. It was equipped with dishes and utensils. There is a coffee cafe right across the street. 4 minutes to the main drag with a number of food options. Driving tip: Take the time to get off the highway and experience the countryside roads.

A nice little spot just out of town. Theres a park over the road where you can walk up the overlooking hill for great views all around, a nice cafe too. Trucks make a lot of noise and shake the property as the go past very very regularly day and night and theres the occasional train ttoo. If you can live with that, its a nice spot. Stayed there twice now. Will stay again.

Manager was wonderful. We arrived early than expected and she let us check in early and was so friendly. The room was super clean amd cozy, the deck had a wonderful view. would stay here again.

Amazing large units

Easy, convenient, bed was super comfy and room felt cosy and safe.

The young lady at the front desk was so cordial and most helpful. The rooms are cleaned very well, and as much as I travel I know what cleaned well is. Highly recommend this location if you’re traveling through beautiful New Zealand.

Great place to stay near worm caves

Lovely stay! Convenient to visit the Worm Caves and near good restaurants. The woman at check in was so warm and welcoming. Plenty of space to spread out as a family and the bathroom was very large!

Exceeded Expectations.

Was greeted on arrival with bottles of water and chocolates - very nice. Our room was large, comfortable and with floor to ceiling windows at the rear where we could view the countryside from some very comfortable arm chairs. Bedding was spotless. Free netflix provided.

Comfortable stay

Very large, spacious room with high vaulted ceilings. It had comfortable furniture to sit in, along with a very comfortable bed. We used the kitchenette to cook our breakfast. Very quiet area. Free parking.

All good I crept for the trains

Large, very clean room. Comfortable bed. Large TV. Small kitchenette in room. Some maintenance is required.

Clean and comfortable stay

We only stayed for one night at Waitomo Lodge but quite enjoyed it. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. Check in and out was straightforward. After reading previous reviews we put our headphones on before going to sleep and didn't hear any trains, had a very good night sleep.

Friendly staff offered us water and chocolates on check in! Spacious and comfortable rooms. 15 minute drive to Waitomo Caves and Spellbound Caves. HIghly recommend!

Would stay again

Doesn’t look luxurious from the outside, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and good amenities.

Nice sraff and accommodation was as i expected.

Room was clean, bathroom spotless and most importantly the bed was comfy.

We were looking for an overnight stay during our travel from Napier to Auckland. The Waitomo Lodge is conveniently located on the edge of the small town of Te Kuiti, which provides convenient stores, Cafes & many Takeaway options. It is also a short drive to the famous Waitomo Caves. The Lodge itself had a Warm & Welcoming ambience. The gentleman (who I would assume was the Property Manager), greeted us with a great big smile and genuine personality. Rooms were clean, spacious and fully equipped with all the basics. TV's in both main room & kids room had Netflix, etc. Beds & Pillows were lovely and comfortable, best sleep all week!! Traffic, particularly big trucks, could make the stay a bit noisy (we were a bit further off the main road, would hate to be in unit 1 or 2). Full blockout curtains would just take this room to the next level of comfort. Thank you!

Everything is good

Hard to sleep with the loud traffic noise. Constant trucks going past all night. Great place otherwise. Very eco friendly which was nice.

The room was spacious (Room 10), good amenities, netflix, a good supply of tea & coffee, and a comfy bed. The only dislike was the 3:37am train that woke me up.

Spacious, reasonably-priced, clean and comfortable accommodations for our family of 4. Nice kitchenette and clean bathroom with amenities. Pleasant front desk staff. Quick drive into town for dining options. Was a quick stop over in our travels, and met all our needs. . There is some road/train noise but it wasn't too bothersome for pur family. Overall a very nice and well-maintained place to stay.

Very convenient location. Nice staff. Very clean room. Road next to motel, however, is heavily trafficked by large trucks through-out the day and night. So it was very loud.

Great stay with a super spacious room. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The host was gracious and welcoming. I would stay here again.

Perfect last minute stay! Even though we did not plan on cooking, loved that the kitchen was fully stocked with all utensils and dishware. There was even a pint of fresh milk in the fridge for coffee or tea. Appreciated the bottle of water and the Whitaker’s treat when we checked in. The food recommended at Stoked Eatery was gourmet and Bosco for breakfast just hit the spot. Only suggestion is to have a little stool to place shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. Thank you!

Excellent overall stay.

Stayed overnight whilst visiting the glow worm caves nearby. The room was very big and spacious and also very clean. Comfy bed (bonus) and close to town. Much better than I had expected. Would recommend to anyone travelling through. 👍

Good rate for room no complaints would stay again

A nice place to sleep

My favorite thing about Waitomo Lodge is the toiletries. It would be nice if there was a shelf in the shower area to place said toiletries. They were eco friendly and of good quality. The air conditioner works very good too. The only down part is at night, the neighbor’s security light shown brightly outside our window. It came on right as we were going to sleep.

Nice place. Worth the money

Check in was easy, our room was very clean, the shower was great, and the WiFi worked well. The larger of the two beds was softer than i like, so I slept on the other firmer bed.

Very spacious with a very usable kitchen. Although on the side of a main road it is pretty quiet at night.

Nice and roomy good amenities. Bosco cafe across the road is excellent.

Lovely stay!

Perfect stop on our way to the glow worm caves. Clean and comfortable with a great coffee shop for breakfast right across the street. Not crazy about rooms with carpet but all good. Was nice and bright.

Decent place for a quick stopover

Just needed a place to sleep for the night while on the way to Waitomo Caves. Decent room; good size, good internet reception and adequate television reception. Balcony with chairs out back. Toaster, microwave and coffeemaker if you need a quick breakfast in the room. Seemed like there was a bbq grill outside that might be shared use. Parking is a bit tight as it seems like a place where roadworks crews stay overnight so there were a lot of truck vehicles there. Felt safe though with all those burly guys close by! Desk clerk very friendly and helpful; recommended dinner at Stoked Eatery and that was good and close by.

This is a good option for those going to see the glow worm caves. The units were clean and it was nice to have the kitchen facilities. It’s not luxurious, but it is a good value and we had a nice stay.

Room was great. Clean and comfortable. The outside was uninspiring and rather drab. Since the inside was nice, I would still recommend it. It is true to the pictures.

Being on the main road it was easy to find this property. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and well-provisioned. Receiving chocolates and bottled water upon arrival was a nice touch. From here it is an easy, short and pleasant walk into the town.
