Fabulous bush setting with amazing views of Auckland City

I never leave a bad review on anything and I travel fairly often so it has to be quite bad for me to say anything. There was hair EVERYWHERE (no exaggeration, there were probably 30 or more in there and I don't know that it had ever been cleaned) in the drawer under the sink and someone's used toothpaste container. There was a layer of dust on the hair dryer holder that was so thick it can't have been cleaned in years. The hair dryer had no cover anymore so you could just touch the metal and burn yourself. The drive was incredibly unsafe and there wasn't enough room for two cars so you had to keep the windows down to listen for traffic. They would run out of parking at dinner time so people staying couldn't park close to their rooms. It's also far from everything so it's very inconvenient. It won't let me include photos of how disgusting it was but I have them...

Stayed for 4 days very beautiful place to stay, fresh air and friendly staff. Fresh towels everyday. Gym room was good. Pool was nice too. Only gave 4 stars due to noise from other tourists in the hotel, too noisy late at night, when trying to rest. I would stay here again, thankyou.

Great couple of nights

Lovely resort, nice gardens and rainforest, service with a smile, comfy room and beds with girgeous views to the city, wonderful meal at restaurant and good breakfast - old world charm could not fault stay! Thank you.

Stunning views, very inviting and accommodating staff. Loved our little getaway

Room was old for the price we paid, musty smell and the chairs were dirty. Had a massage which was nice and the girls were lovely, but signage would be good to be able to find it. Dinner was amazing, everything we had was delicious. Breakfast was a let down, ordered omelette but it was really undercooked. Staff were helpful and brought back into kitchen to finish cooking. Always enjoy coming here but the room and breakfast let it down this time. Will def be back for dinner!

Lovely out of the way spot

This was a great place to stay if you didn't want to be in the main city of Auckland. It was in the mountains, very quiet & peaceful.

Wise 2024 trip

It was a magically wonderful stay! Loved the balcony and views! The sunrise was spectacular!

Room has bare minimum amenities, bathroom did not have enough towels shower are did not have a shelf to put soap or shampoo Extended Property has issues with maintenance I would not call it a Resort just a regular hotel at a nice location

Worst experience ever, we saw a space in our wardrobe which was very scary. Its presence raised questions about the integrity of the establishment and left us feeling deeply unsettled throughout our stay. The walls and curtains appeared neglected and unclean, leaving an impression of poor maintenance and hygiene standards. Also, the absence of air conditioning compounded our discomfort, particularly during warmer periods although it was mentioned on the website that rooms have AC facilities.

Our only complaint was the road in. Mirrors on the blind corners would help.

Amazing view from room but challenging road to get there!

The drive in and out is a bit stressful as there is only one tight road on a hill. However the staff were extremely hospitable, the room was clean and safe, the gym is a bit small but has the essentials. The pool is a cold pool which was a bit disappointing, didn’t try their food. The views were spectacular however there isn’t much noise installation I could hear my neighbours and everytime someone walked in the hall. Overall it is a cozy place .

A great place to stay. You could be anywhere in the world! Beautiful grounds and old world flair. Everything was clean and tidy. Food was delicious! Lots of variety for tastes and flavours. Excellent service from all the staff. We also enjoyed the spa facilities and the views were fabulous across Auckland city and the Waitakere ranges. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful resort with incredible views. The staff were lovely and helpful

While the room we stayed in the first night was disappointing, after voicing our concern to expedia we were upgraded to a great room the 2nd night. Awesome view overlooking the city, spacious, nice décor, and big shower. Very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was great, and so was the vibe of enjoying drinks in front of the fire place in the lounge. We also enjoyed massages at the spa, and got to check out the beautiful rain forest at the scenic look out (couldn't do the walk as the tree was blocking) Didn't acknowledge hubby's birthday (which is why we booked in for the weekend, and I did advise) but staff were pleasant and overall we really enjoyed our stay

A mixed bag of amazing views and good size rooms, great sauna. Had a delicious meal in the restaurant too. Pool area needs some work and deck chairs; we were downstairs so heard everything upstairs, so not great for light sleepers.

The grounds were absolutely stunning and the gardens immaculate. We loved the sauna and swimming pool. Unfortunately the spa was not staffed, as we stayed Monday/ Tuesday. We would definitely have booked 2 massages!!! The room we stayed in was very dated and dark. I would stay in the newer area next time.

The room was a little dated. Ripped net curtain in room, drain not working in bathroom. This was solved quickly though. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was nice.

Located in the Waitakere Ranges, this resort is in the rainforest. Our balcony provided a magnificent view of the forest and further out, the city of Auckland. A dawn chorus of NZ birds greeted us. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The hotel is older but extremely well-kept. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you plan to hike Arataki, Karekare Falls, Kitekite Falls, Mercer Bay Loop, or Piha Beach or plan to visit the gannet colony at Muriwai, this is the perfect place to stay. We absolutely loved it!

The view

The outside of the resort (building) was a little tired looking, inside was nice enough. The one car driveways were also a potential problem as the driveway coming in to the property is long and not many side bays to pull over and let people pass. Lovely and quiet, city views are great.

Okayish, its a conference venue

The main building is newly renovated. But the room.we booked was seperated from the main building. It was abit dated. It should be a good conference/ company event venue. Re food, we were the only couple that night. Fine dinning price. Quality..hmm.. Its a conference venue.

The resort staff were very friendly and welcoming. I loved the large balcony with amazing views of Auckland city. It was very special to be in the middle of a rainforest with all its incredible ambience. The food was overpriced and undersized. There are several “little” things that could make the experience better for guests. I found I needed to ask a lot of questions because not everything was obvious...an example: the information folder in the room states that the bar is in guest lounge, but what you’re not told is that the bar is only opened for groups that book it. Bath robes available for use to and from the sauna would be helpful, too. This resort has incredible potential and with sharpening a few small details, it would be a special experience. Staff having a sharp uniform would be a good start. 😉

Hi, we check in late in evening and we were greeted by Duncan. Took care of us and shortly after, we walked into a spacious room. With a super king bed.... mmm We stayed an extra night. Definitely my new go to place, to relax. Very friendly staff! Thank you R & B

Great view of city

Good place to stay but not to eat

It must have been a 4 star hotel in 80s, but the main building is dated and need big refurbishment. Especially the enterance to the reception look like you came to a wrong place to check in. Not well sign posted. It's a beautiful location and no other options to eat but we were so disappointed with the dinner at the hotel restaurant.

the staff there are very warm, lovely and helpful ! we love the resort environment, the view and peace, all these are unbeatable ! it's really a place for charging and great get away! Definitely recommend for my friends!

Very helpful reception.

Beautiful setting in the hills. Great views even with a pool room. Great service -we had to check out earlier due to changing Covid status of Auckland (we had to return to Wellington). They only charged us for the one night instead of 2. Very appreciated. A pity we didn’t get to try out the dinner menu! Only downside: Beds not very comfortable

This is a magic spot, with super comfortable beds, great linen and nice staff. Overall was a great stay. Thought the access could use some work. But more than made up for this by the quite peaceful comfortable stay

Waitangi at Waitakere

Great service from beginning to end; dinner at the on-site restaurant was a treat with beautiful depth of flavor in our sauces - I had chicken & hubby had beef; naturally gorgeous views from everywhere; spa in our unit added to our relaxing as did the outdoor pool.

Pleasant , friendly staff. Food in the restaurant, very nice, was also well presented Asked for minor maintenance , not done.Other things like the shower shutters, not shutting properly , place very dated decor, but that adds to the ambiance.

Premium Room

Comfortable, great view, clean and nice room in a newly renovated wing.

The Resort has swimming pool, gym, spa and sauna as well apart from the lovely location. Parks are few minutes away from the Resort. Nice and quiet nights.

Waitakere Resort

A beautiful location with attentive and helpful staff. The resort is a bit tired but the view was incredible and the food was delicious at the restaurant. I believe that we were the only guests for our overnight stay but they are expecting a group of conference attendees today. Covid has been hard on the resorts.

Relax on holiday.The mountains are surrounded by beautiful scenery. The bed is too comfortable. We'll choose again for next time .

Picturesque location but if you don’t eat at the hotel you have to drive a distance for other options. No snacks available for room service. Food was nice but limited options. Hotel is very dated and in need of a serious upgrade. Rooms very noisy you can hear people talking,moving furniture etc. Had to call the hotel on an outside line as there was no ph in the room (I asked 3 times for one)

Lovely hotel with great views.

When we arrived we were greeted by the very friendly and helpful Maddy. As we had been travelling for 30+ hours Maddy kindly arranged for some lunch to be made for us even though the chef was not there at the time. The home made soup was delicious. We also ate here for dinner. The steak & lamb were lovely very tasty and tender. The apple strudel unfortunately was very disappointing, the pastry was like shoe leather not the light pastry one should expect. The walnut tarts were ok although the pastry on these was a little hard. This did not put us off eating here on another evening as the meat was so good, although we did choose another dessert which was better. Our room for our 5 night stay was very spacious and had a lovely view over the city. The bed was very large and exceedingly comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor of the hotel was very dated and in some places the cleanliness was lacking. This was not the case in our room but in the communal areas there were cobwebs. In the dining room there was a large cobweb in the corner for the whole of our stay and the lounge area was very dusty. This is though a lovely place to stay with some bush walks direct from the hotel and beautiful beaches only a few minutes drive as well as Auckland and all it has to offer. I would recommend this place.

A beautufl building with one of the best views of Auckland I have seen.

Everything was wonderful except for driving to the property and up the driveway. These are both challenges that American/Canadian and European drivers should consider. The drive way is basically a single lane drive up a steep hill for several hundred feet. When contacting another driver Going in the opposite direction means that someone has to back-up...

Amazing room and fabulous views

An enchanting hotel with a lovely view of Auckland.

Very unique property nestled in the Waitakere Ranges. You feel very isolated and cozy, especially during storms! Nice water pressure in the bathroom and the view was great. Only comment is the king sized bed is really just two singles mashed together and thus there was a dip in the middle of the bed. Would definitely stay again

This property is worth the convoluted drive because it is nestled all on its own in a beautiful spot affording spectacular views over greater Auckland.

Very dissapointing visit

Very dissapointing; no room service provided on the first day - returned to a messy uncleaned room; requested clean coffee cups for the next morning but they never arrived.

A grand old lodge in a fabulous location with beautiful views. Needs a bit of tlc

Great location - room was beautiful (newly renovated), however advertised amenities (gym sauna) were not working/fully functional. The renovation on the property as a whole seems incomplete (for example there is a digger blocking an entrance to one of the bush walks)

Lovely and quiet - great place for some time out and restore the soul.

After laundry service my clothes were wrinkled even 6mo. after.

The room was nice and spacious and clean, fantastic view over Auckland City. Evening meal very nice but on the small side for the price. The cheese platter we had delivered to our room was a bit of a joke for $19 would not recommend. The bar area and restaurant are a bit tired in need of an update.

A marvelous stay!!!

This was our first visit to NZ and staying at the Waitakere Heritage gave us direct access to the amazing NZ wilderness. The people at the resort were very thoughtful. Michael the caretaker the owner, Hughe were so helpful in taking out time to talk and provide guidance on treks around the resort. Thank you Michael got a great day! Let me know if you ever find the treasure we were looking for. Thank you, all.
