Review
Very comfortable, nothing to regret about , breakfast was so delicious plus humble respective staff
This is an excellent hotel but with one small complaint: No brewed coffee for breakfast. If you want good coffee, you need to pay a stiff fee. It's odd. Nearly every hotel offers free coffee but the Vittoria charges several hundred shillings for a cup. Come on Vittoria, you run an excellent hotel operation, you can offer brewed coffee with breakfast!
Always our choice for Kisumu hospitality
The staff were very courteous and friendly. Especially Michael and Baraza in the restaurant. Didn’t catch the name of the woman who checked us in, but she was very friendly and professional as well.
.
Nice clean and cozy.
I would book here again.
The Vittoria continues to be an excellent hotel in Kisumu. The place is clean and well maintained, room size is good. Mostly, the staff is always helpful and friendly. Everyone staffing the Vittoria deserves a nice pat on the back.
The hotel was clean, the room was just adequate for one, it lacked a refrigerator, and microwave. The TV was bad, two local channels & Aljazeera. The staff was helpful and courteous, the food was great.
Great for business trips
Perfect for business trips. Great service, secure building, strong WiFi, good restaurant, and outdoor garden area. The location is OK but I think that’s why you save on the price with it being a bit further from city center.
Hot water problems
My biggest gripe was that the hot water was an issue. I called the front desk and the staff attempted to troubleshoot the problem. Maintenance came to address the issue with no real timeline of when the water would be hot enough to shower. Because of the delay we were late for our excursion. The staff were very friendly and seemed as though they were genuinely apologetic and wanted to offer a resolution, but the hotel was full.
Very clean. Kind staff. Good breakfast
They have very clean rooms which I was able to see a number of as I had my pick. I ended up with a free upgrade to a larger family room. The bed was very comfy and they seemed to have a good variety of food for breakfast. The staff were very kind and helpful. They even found the gold chain that I'd forgotten in my room and I notified me before I left. I'll definitely be back..
I particularly liked the location away from town. Their Wi-Fi is great. A nice place where one can get work done. Nice food too.
Good, a bit of attrition over the years, may require some touch up
Very clean and nice.
The Kitchen staff was quite friendly and the food was sumptious!👍
Clean hotel
The hotel is clean and well maintained. The location is a bit hidden and the back side is a busy road. It’s however comes recommended by me.
Rooms were very nice. Patio dining was also very good, as was the breakfast.
This is a lovely place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and immaculate, it's close to what people want to visit in Kisumu, (walkable to Victoria Lake, the Impala Sanctuary and also downtown and the Kisumu Museum.) The restaurant is very good, also, the best I dined at while in Kisumu.
It’s was one the the nicest and cleanest hotels we’ve stayed in. Great security.
This is my second stay and the same as the first time. Clean rooms
Amazing hospitality as always!
Great Hotel threatened by cost savings renovations
This was my third stay at Vittoria suites over the last 2 years. The hotel is located in the quiet Milimani area in Kisumu, close to the city center. The food and beverage staff are very friendly and helpful and while the breakfast buffet does not have as large a variety as other hotels I've stayed in, it's very sufficient for most people and just right. The road going to the hotel was really bad but as of the time of this review, the city is working on tarmacking it. Now, recent cost saving renovations have made this favorite hotel uncomfortable and unsafe. They installed motion triggered security lights in the dark hallways leading to the rooms. However the lights are set to stay on for less than 5 seconds when triggered. So be prepared to be trailed by darkness behind you when walking the hallway to your room! Make sure to Greece your room key card ready or the lights would turn off leaving you in total darkness fumbling for your room key card! They also replaced the very highly functional wall mounted air conditioning units with low energy units that take hours to cool down the room. But most annoyingly, they tied the Air Conditioning to your key card so when you leave the room, it turns off! So be prepared for extremely hot rooms and hot nights when you return after a hot day in the city! You can obtain two keys but the cleaning staff would manually turn the air conditioning units off when they clean the room, so no use! This is a deal breaker for me!
Just fine!
Very nice stay. The hotel is new so everything is nice and new in the rooms. The breakfast was good though for me I'm. It one looking to eat matoke, liver, and provisions in the morning. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The property was secure and in a good quiet location of town, not far from dunga beach.
A good hotel within Kisumu town but away from the
I enjoyed the ambiance at the dining and breakfast area. Breakfast is wide and covers both local and international guests.Rooms were ready each time I visited. They organised my transport to the airport which was on time.
Very peaceful and safe neighborhood
I liked the joy on the faces of the staff which reflected on the guests
Great value.
Comfortable and friendly staff. Always a pleasure to stay there.
Kingmo
It was really great
Pleasant trip
Customer service was great. Rooms were ok but maybe a tad congested. Also the hotel is off the ring road so no great views to look out on. Pleasant trip. Food was great.
Stayed at Vittoria Suites for 10 days as part of a work trip. The staff was uncompromisingly helpful with anything, and able to accommodate needs like printing, business rooms, portable meals for a long work day, etc. Bathrooms are spacious and have hot water that does not die out (unlike many places!). Internet is reasonably good. Rapid laundry service. Rooms are ample size, with air conditioning and a great work station. Meals are fairly priced (compared to mzungu and upper-class-Kenyan restaurants in downtown Kisumu). Buffets (complimentary breakfast, and 1-2x per week for dinner) are based on Kenya foods. Finally! A chance to savor brown and white ugalis, githeri, sukuma wiki, and samaki choma. Highly recommended. This will now be my go-to in Kisumu.
Cheap
To be fair there is not much choice in Kisumu. The Vittoria Suites is cheap, the rooms are fine, albeit I stayed for 3 nights with only hot water for a shower on the last night. I used my son's room next door the other days. The restaurant is fairly awful - food is not great - 95 minutes to get a steak and a pork chop - which was cold. Starters arrived after the main course! Having said that the staff tried their best and were very friendly.
Modern, comfortable hotel, close to the airport
This was my first time in Kisumu. The area surrounding the hotel is chaotic, but the Vittoria Suites was a nice break from that. The room was clean, comfortable, and the bed was comfortable. Tiny critiques - there were no facial tissues or a clock in the room. The room included a mosquito curtain (in front of the bed, not surrounding the bed. The staff was very gracious and helpful. The breakfast served tasted good and there was plenty of it. There was no coffee, only tea, but that seems to be common in Kenya. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Kisumu.
A diamond in the ruff
This oasis is a blessing for anyone who takes the time to find it. By opening as recent as March 2016, the level of security, food, staff, customer services, the facility itself, rooms, and more...will simply blow you away. Well worth the stay and very affordable.
Clean, redone hotel near Kisumu town
We were pleasantly surprised with this good value hotel. It was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Food was good, location near the Impala Park and Victoria
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not all items on the menu were available. It was relaxing and comfortable.
Very nice and clean rooms
The hotel was very clean and everyone was nice. I ate their food which was very delicious and everyone was very friendly. I will definitely go back there.
Great place; Felt at home!
This is a new hotel that is coming along. The staff was amazing; super friendly! It is not perfect; however, I felt at home. I was there for work for 5 nights and I had a very nice experience. The rooms are nice, well decorated, and very comfortable. The internet, in my room, was very good, and as a business person that is very crucial. The food was also very good; congrats chef. I just wished they had a pool! I will definitely continue coming back and will recommend this hotel to everyone!
We stayed a week in Vittorias Suites. It was our second time. We were also there shortly after opening of the hotel. During our stay we also booked rooms for our friends. What was disappointing us the most was the lack of social behavior of the staff. Nobody is asking how you are doing; if you check out, no one asks how your stay was; our wishes you a safari salama. The whole staff can use a training on customer care. You dont feel welcome or appreciated. Rooms are quite ok. Big enough. If you have a room for two, it would be useful to have two cups and enough towels. Food was also good; except for the last eve; then the chef must have dropped the bottle of chilly into the spaghetti. Location of the hotel is good.
You get what you pay for
Good Hotel for its level but we had issues with the water in our room. We got to change room, but the new didn’t have a safe. They agreed to let us also have access to the first room but when we came back at night the card was not working. They should try to do regular maintenance and make sure all rooms have the same standard. All rooms have the strange mosquito curtains which covers off the bed and bathroom. But a lot of mosquitoes come in through the bathroom because the windows there don’t have mosquito net. I would prefer mosquito nets that only covers the whole bed. Plus nets have some small holes in them including where they are attached to the wall. This was my second time staying there so I think you get what you pay for. For my first stay there were no issues except small holes in mosquito net. Staff are very responsive.
Nice and clean hotel in a quiet area
Great stay, good food, comfortable room, good shower.
Gutes neues und sicheres Hotel in Kisumu
Sehr neues Hotel in Kisumu. Gutes Essen und Frühstück, schöne Inneneinrichtung.
Vittoria Suites - Kisumu | Hotel in Kisumu | Travala.com
Vittoria Suites has been my go-to hotel during my annual trips to Kenya for the past eight years. I've even recommended it to friends and family as a "hidden gem" in Kisumu. When traveling with my family, however, I’ve usually opted for other hotels that I thought would be more kid-friendly, like Imperial Hotel (now Sarova Imperial) or Sovereign Hotel. This December 2024, I decided to stay at Vittoria Suites with my family since it was just for one night. To my surprise, this hotel keeps exceeding my expectations! It’s one of the very few hotels in Kisumu that still offers interconnected family rooms. Imperial/Sarova removed theirs during recent renovations, leaving Vittoria Suites as the only hotel near Kisumu CBD with this feature—perfect for families with young kids who can’t stay in a separate room. We had an excellent stay and enjoyed dinner through room service without any issues. Why do I love this small hotel so much? It’s located in the posh Milimani neighborhood, close to the CBD. It’s quiet, clean, and every room has working air conditioning (a must in Kisumu’s heat). The breakfast is always excellent, with a wide variety of options. Plus, there’s a chef on standby to prepare anything not included in the buffet. The only downside? The bathrooms have vented doors positioned right next to the beds—a poorly thought-out design. Overall, it’s still a fantastic choice, especially for families.
