Fabulous
Fabulous hotel, in a great location. The bus to and from the city centre is great, every 2 minutes, to the door.... It has Starbuck and a bar in the lobby. Also a gym and pool you can use... The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable 👌 There is a carpark with loads of space so driving wouldn't be a problem. Would 100% stay here again.... happy customer 😆
Fab stay!
Business trip
Quick check-in. Very clean room and bathroom. As always, the gym was well equiped and easy to access. Restraunt, clean and food service effiecient. Food, good quality and very tasty. Very comfortable stay ready for a busy day of business.
Lovely hotel and very warm and comfortable. Only issue was price of food in bar was extortionate
Decent place for the price
Overall hotel was decent and the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Some mix up in the booking and charging of late check out ( complicated by having 3 rooms ). The restaurant/bar service was very slow and there was a long wait each time in ordering food or additional drinks.
Beds are not very comfortable didn’t sleep well, shower wasn’t great
Good hotel, nice and clean. Good bar. Pool wasn’t included which it looked like it was on the booking but other than that good.
It’s like sleeping on a piece of cardboard
Busy place, and still clean and tidy
Excellent gym, pool and spa like facilities. The bar has a good selection of food and drink and the onsite Starbucks is also a big bonus. Will stay again.
Excellent Choice
The Staff was Great, the hotel was perfect as we was down for the Rugby that weekend
Fantastic place to be in
This is the second time we stay at the village. Most of things are up to expectations, very kind and friendly staff, clean rooms and comfy beds, fantastic facilities. I only struggled with the noise from other guests and the very hot rooms although we are in winter ( December 22nd to 25th) and my room temp control was off. I had to open the window which added to my struggle with noise. Still it’s a fantastic place to stay in and I’ll be visiting again.
The room was clean and the hotel facilities (breakfast, pool & gym) were really good. A great option for short stays.
Good for a basic hotel
Good for a basic hotel although quite far out of the city centre. Bathroom was quite worn. Staff at Starbucks were rude, unpleasant people in the sauna.
The room was too hot. Had a view of a wall. The bar shut early. No vending machines. Could not get a drink or snack when we arrived late
Love the Village!
Superb stay! Brilliant room. Great bar. Fantastic to be able to go for a swim. Starbucks was good. The breakfast in the morning was delicious.
Excellent Accommodations
Superb boutique-to-midsize hotel. Had a gym, pool, Starbucks, gastro pub, room service, luggage hold, big lobby/waiting area, and professional staff. Rooms were spotless and bed was extremely comfortable. A high-value yet affordable stay about 2-3miles from the city centre. Highly recommend.
Booked a twin room the beds were a larger size than a single and very comfy. The gym and pool facilities were fantastic as well as being able to drop off our bags of early and get changed before we could access our room. The staff were so helpful and friendly and there was lots to choose from at breakfast. Will book here again when we come back.
Great hotel and pool
Very good staff were all friendly and helpful. The pool was a great size and could use anytime without having to book slots.
Always enjoy staying at village hotels.
Lovely room nice view. Clean and tidy. Very friendly staff
Stay was excellent, staff were lovely and room was really clean. Would definetly stay again.
Great stay - I had asked for a quiet room and I had one! Breakfast was pleasant too. Loved the pool and spa - was also able to attend a Les Mills BodyAttack class with Craig, which was fab. I asked if I could possibly stay in the room until 12 and this was not a problem.
Hotel restaurant and Starbucks were wonderful! Room was spacious; fan was provided. Pool/hot tub, refreshing and even had a machine that dried your bathing suite in 8 seconds! Plenty of parking and a gas station across the street. Nothing close by within a walking distance of 30 - 40 minutes, but not a deal breaker.
Life guard Tom has amazing people skills. A racial incident took place in the pool on the evening of the my arrival the 18th October but Tom managed this in a diplomatic way. This could have but did not mar my stay with my sister for and on her birthday!
Room comfortable but not perfectly clean. Dining facility very poor.
Very nice and comfort hotel Close to the city center .
Nice comfortable hotel
Nice comfortable hotel, with a good pub food restaurant attached. Room had everything we needed. Would be really good to have some charge points in the car park. The bath was really quite high to get out from after a shower, made a little tricky with the fitted shower screen.
Like the hotel loved the use of the swimming pool too nice spacoius rooms
Great weekend lovely hotel
👍
Staff need retraining customer service when bookin
Extremely unhelpful lady I booked in with gave us wrong room explanied to her that requested bath larger bed she said there’s none went for dinner and spoke to very helpful lady called emily no problem sorted great service this is how it should be done
Fantastic hotel ! Great service ! Great breakfast! Just 2 miles from Edinburgh City Centre!
Excellent
Village hotel is perfect for solo travelers that are health conscious! their gym is amazing and a large portion of my reasoning for choosing them!
It will be nice if you having a welcoming reception
You know what you get and can expect with village hotels👍
If you are going to charge a million dollars for a steak, please make sure that it is perfectly cooked and that all of the promised accompaniments are on the plate
staff friendly and helpful nice place to stay
Rooms were nice, staff was friendly and attentive
Customer service was great. Food at the bar was good. The bis stop is just outside the parking lot which made it easy to get into town. On the downside, there arent many restaurants near the hotel. Overall a very nice stay just needed to plan ahead more to get better dining options.
Ok
Husband and I stayed for one night. Close to the airport. Very nice hotel. Clean, modern and efficient. Onsite parking. Also, Bar Grill, Starbucks and gym onsite. Comfortable bed. Just needed another chair
My boyfriend and I stay in this hotel for a long weekend and honestly can’t find any fault. It’s a convenient location for those visiting the city with a bus stop right outside the hotel that takes you right into the heart of the city in less than 20 mins. Clean hotel with pleasant staff. Nice touch of having a Starbucks in the lobby of the hotel to set you up for a day in the city! Would stay again!
Overall very good, staff excellent. Had 2 meals which were very good but the menu was restricted, to many burgers [probably an age issue!] In common with many hotels only one chair in a double room.
Lovely hotel with a Starbucks and restaurant and plenty of parking. Fairly close to all the happening areas.
Good property. Only negative was the plug in the sink didn’t work
Service not up to standard I rate the hotel as a 3 star not 4 stars
Has some great amenities for dining bar and a Starbucks. Right near bus stop for easy transportation
Lovely clean comfortable nice breakfast
Property was clean and staff were nice . Great gym and pool and bar . The only thing we didn’t like was no fridge in rooms and No smart TV to be able to log in to our own app
We stayed here for 2 nights (2 adults & 2 Children). Location was perfect - 15 mins to the centre and facilities were perfect for our family. We has dinner and breakfast here - both were fab! Our daughter has a nut allergy and the staff were very thorough in making sure nothing she ate was contaminated. The children loved the pool too!! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful in going as far as lending us a I pad charger when we had forgotten ours.
Everything is fine, except that London transport is complicated!
Fantastic stay, staff were very helpful and cheery.
Stay at village
Excellent room. Neat and clean. Very friendly staff. Great customer service
Pretty good hotel, everything was pretty good. Nothing too over the top, but for the price it was worth it.
Wonderful Stay At The Village Edinburgh
The staff were really helpful and friendly. They were always happy to help. The room was lovely, clean bright and airy. I utilised the gym and all the associated amenities and everything was excellent. It was a pleasure to stay at The Village Edinburgh. The bus services into the city were very regular and ideally located by the hotel. An all round lovely holiday experience.
Poor choices in restaurant. Lighting in bathroom poor
Extended late check out cancelled last minute
Arrived at reception, no staff, all automatic. Found a staff member as needed late check out. Offered until 1pm. As one of us was getting a hospital procedure nearby, asked if could get later check out. Girl checked availability and said 3pm latest which helped. Next morning got knock at door asking when we were checking out and was explained. A while later, another member of staff appeared and said 1pm was latest and had 45 minutes to leave. Why give a time then change at last minute. Hotel had been recommended by hospital because of location and flexibility so very disappointed
I liked the pool, little football game for kids and buzz about the place
very basic room it is not 4 stars hotel per American criteria no phone in the room, limited outlets and small rooms
The hotel was average and the staff was fine. Definitely missed the feeling of service you normally get as it felt much more like a community fitness centre. Not far from the city centre so Uber was possible, but a little costly every day.
Very well kept very nice big room
Our stay spoiled by issues with the lift
The hotel was ideally placed for where we wanted to be. All the staff were very helpful. The rooms were well presented and always clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good and we were served promptly. The only drawback during our stay was the fact that the lift was out of action all weekend which was not ideal considering my wife has severe back issues. Accessing our room on the 3rd floor presented something of a problem to say the least, and something that we could have done without. Quite how a lift can be out of action for a whole weekend mystifies me. Sadly, it spoiled our stay.
Edinburgh stay for a freinds birthday
A great stay, although it was a little distance from the centre there was everything there that you needed. Great service throughout, a lovely chinese lad serving in the bar/restaurant arranged a candle 9n my friends dessert for her birthday. We stayed in a room with two double beds and it was very comfortable. The taxi fares into the centre averaged about £12, so not too bad. Cant comment on the spa as we didnt have time to use it but it looked nice
All the staff were really helpful and really insightful would stay again.
Decent enough place, but the lift was broken and there was other options except to lug out stuff up five flights of stairs. Difficult with an infant! No apology or alternative was offered. Seemed a bit unprofessional and certainly not as family-friendly or disability-friendly as it would seem.
All good no complaints .
Good service, misinformation regarding gym opening times on Sat but all in all a great stay, very comfortable bed, bathroom needed a freshen up. Although clean, discoloured sealant / fittings etc.
Longer hours on hot tub/pool for adults
Absolutely love that they had a pool with lap lanes! All the amenities were wonderful.
If you want the bass-lines of energy bop naff techno from the gym in your head at 7am: this is the place for you. Made complaint to management which was only responded to after writing to Village Hotel's head office. Read other reviews, fairly sure I'm not alone in finding this not a hotel for sleeping in. However, great if you're a gym junkie.
The staff were great, so friendly. We also like the easy access to the bus stop and getting downtown. We would have like to see more options for doing our laundry. We would like to see more options for dining as well, as there is not other restaurants close by.
Liked the property very much location is far from royal mile unfortunately but otherwise many amenities and very comfortable hotel
The pillows were poor and the bed not very comfortable otherwise the hotel was good. More choice of food
.
Nice hotel.
Nice hotel friendly staff, food was overpriced but where isn’t these days, clean room comfortable bed didn’t use the pool or gym so can’t comment on the facilities as was only a short stay, no other restaurants around the hotel but regular busses into Edinburgh city centre from outside the hotel.
Great place to get a work visit in and amazing gym. A bit dear if you want to get into town for sight seeing.
Great stay
Great hotel, good facilities used the gym and had breakfast both mornings. Room had everything we needed would recommend
We enjoyed staying for a short break in this lovely spacious hotel in Edinburgh! Excellent parking facilities.
A good place to stay, breakfast was reasonably priced. There are limited pool hours for families.
Great family friendly hotel with pool and onsite Starbucks/reataurant.
Great hotel and live music at the bar and dining area
I thought the breakfast was poor, the quality of the food and the selection. Also no water complimentary with the room.
Happy Staff
Enjoyed our stay very much all staff overall were helpful very friendly and happy 😊
Nice hotel rooms but not a lot of space
I would not recommend this property to anyone who is looking for customer service of any kind or good night sleep. Only thing we enjoyed was access to Starbucks(staff their very kind) and pool. First off, you have to check yourself in on an ipad, the lady behind the desk didn't even greet us. All she did was hand us the machine so we could activate our own key once the machine told us what our room number was going to be. She did not tell us anything about the amenities in the hotel or pool hours. Secondly we also had to serve ourselves in the restaurant, the staff on that day had no clue how to do their job (nobody knew how to issue a refund, lady I gave my order too could not answer a single question about the menu without going to kitchen). The one man behind the bar refused to help me when I first got to the bar to place my order and clearly has issue with women as he took a man's order who approached the bar 2min after me. Third the staff do not smile and when you do ask them a question they honestly look inconvenienced by you. Finally the bed and pillows in our room where the most uncomfortable items we have ever slept on during our 7 day trip to G.B.
Nice place and more space room
Had a great stay here, good location. Facilities very good. Food and drinks lovely! Would definitely recommend and return to stay again.
Weekend stay
Your Scottish gentleman waiter was so helpful and friendly pity some of the other staff weren’t the same
The staff were all wonderful, we liked the restaurant. Because this hotel is also a health club, guests can use the gym, large lap pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi FOR ONLY $5 per day per room. We were also able to park close to the building in the handicap area. Hotels with a car park are hard to find in Edinburgh.
DEAD VIEW :(
Put on notes for the best view paid £200 for 1 night, reception guy that checked me in said I’m sorry I can see ur notes but they have all been taken, how am I not prioritised with a better view especially when I booked in advance SPECIFICALLY WITH NOTES .., strange
Had to leave a young child at my table to go to the bar each time I wanted to order food or drink because the poorly trained staff were too lazy to serve at tables. My starter and main came out together so I had to leave my child again to discuss with staff. It had to be sorted by me as I was made to pay in advance. Customer comes last in this place. Minimum effort by staff is the priority.
Disclaimer, my poor review is singular to my experience and isn't indicative of the Hotel in general. We didn't meet much of the staff and only stayed one night. We had booked two nights, but left pretty quick after the first night's experience. So, we were given a room that had a bathroom meant for people with disabilities. Maybe all the rooms are that way, I'm not sure. Our problem with our stay was because the drain was either clogged or closed off somehow. didn't notice because the shower floor is the whole bathroom floor in a disability bathroom but you still have a curtain blocking the view of the rest of the bathroom (also you just assume the water will go down the drain). So the whole bathroom flooded after one shower. I told the person at the front desk, she said she would have someone come take a look that night, but no one came. Possible they came after we fell asleep and left us alone, unsure. But we just decided to check out the next morning.
We had to ask for the room to be cleaned. There was a fire alarm at night no staff explained what was going on and there was no head count. Potentially very dangerous for guests.
Loved it
One night stay
Divan was stained on the sides and the clock in the room had no hands, but other than that all was fine.
This was a great property. Clean and friendly. Women’s locker room could have been cleaner.
Staff were polite and helpful
Great value stay
Great value 2 night stay. Room was comfortable. Had dinner in the bar. Even managed a quick sauna. Staff were really helpful

Bed and pillows were awful. Slow service in restaurant, also expensive. Staff were pleasant and pool area good but changing rooms soaking with water and not very clean
