Phenomenal place and awesome service Highly recommend
Beautiful hotel in Lyon
Wonderful hotel in Lyon it was a fantastic stay for my husband and I. Very beautiful, the rooms are super comfortable with a nice terrace to sit outside. Staff was wonderful!!! So friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this hotel while visiting Lyon.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in
Absolutely amazing hotel. The facilities were great, and the apartment was beautiful. On top of that we received food & beverage gifts and the service was absolutely top class.
Wonderful experience
Perfect stay for our anniversary.
The staff was lovely. They made us dinner reservations at amazing places. We took advantage of the sauna/steam/massages. All great. Excellent buffet style breakfast with additional ability to order omelets and crepes. The room was super clean and beds were comfortable.
Best service and consierge group
Truly extraordinary service. A few may meet them, but nothing better. As much as I travel and use premium properties for my stays these hotel’s concierge service is at the top of their game. This is the first time I’ve had housekeeping take the pile of clothing I leave everyday on top of the spare bed, neatly fold it and place it a top of the the drawer counter. As good as it gets..
Stayed two nights. The room was very quiet, the view from the room was great giving a look over the city. The employees where very happy to help and jump in anytime we needed anything. They even called us to make sure we were able to eat despite our late arrival on day 1. Do not hesitate this hotel is wonderful. One of the best in Lyon!
Wonderful
Spur of the moment change in our Christmas/NYE plans and couldn’t be happier with our choice. Absolutely wonderful experience. Beautiful hotel and the staff was so welcoming and helpful. Great location. Thank you
Beautiful hotel with a nice breakfast Buffet. I would stay here again and again!
Beautiful hotel; stunning views, friendly staff.
Villa Florentine was fabulous!! The location is amazing, the views over Lyon are lovely and the location is perfect. We were greeted by very friendly staff with welcome drinks and pastries and then a 30 minute history lesson and chat with the manager Emmanuel. It really made us feel welcome and was wonderful. Our room was also upgraded which we appreciated. Staying at Villa Florentine was an experience we will remember and we would certainly go back and recommend this Relais et Chateau hotel.
Fantastic location for enjoying Lyon. A quick walk (down many stairs) to best restaurants and to explore Lyon. Close to funicular to Fourvier. Worried about climbing those stairs to return? There are plenty of Huber rides for 12-15 euro, a value for two sets of old knees.
Beautiful facilities, restaurant and staff
Gorgeous 2 story room but with limited view which we nonetheless enjoyed. Only drawback was bathroom was down curving stairs. All employees friendly, helpful and gracious!
This was simply one of, perhaps THE, finest hotels at which I have ever stayed. Perfect in every way.
This centuries old building is filled with history, the building itself and the scenery are stunning. It is truly a 5 star hotel, the rooms are luxurious and most of them offer a breathtaking view over Lyon. The staff is classy and helpful, the lobby is gorgeous. The only downside in my opinion is the gym, only a small room with 3 cheap treadmills, not enough for those who are looking for a real workout. Nevertheless, the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere make this place a true 5 star experience.
The Villa was elegant, comfortable, and clean. Felt taken care of from the moment we arrived until departure. The views from the Villa were breathtaking and overlooked the city and river. A short walk to Old Lyon and the Roman ruins. The staff was excellent - Nicoli (concierge) was amazing and made great meal recommendations in Old Lyon. Would absolutely stay here again.
Amazing place to stay This what we call luxury and 5 big stars !!! Great job guys Thank you
A beautiful hotel in a wonderful neighbourhood of a fascinating city…! Great views and very kind staff.
Very beautifully located and arranged. Great massage and sauna and pool. Exceptional 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫
One of the very best in every way.
This Hotel is amazing. It has everything you want in a very good Hotel. It also deserves the 5 Star rating. For so many reasons. I cannot pick one thing wrong. The Staff go out of their way to look after everyone, in fact over and beyond for their clients. I spend 3 quarters of the year spending most of my time in 5 star hotels and this one for service from every staff is amazing all the time. This a Hotel I will always keep coming back. I will always stay at this hotel when I’m in Lyon, The hotel is on the hill but the view is to die for. It’s so close to everything. I can only say this don’t stay anywhere else,
Classic history of location, great pool and poolside service. Food was excellent.
Beautiful hotel with nice pool. Our room was large and comfortable bed. We had a huge balcony! Enjoyed the breakfast each morning.
Perfect. Staff and hotel are immaculate. Rooms were perfect. Pool area has stunning views across the city. Food was superb, I’ve no suggestions other than an elevator into the old town😊 (on serious note, if you struggle to walk up or down steps you’ll need to get transport to and from hotel)
Absolutely wonderful. The Hotel is gorgeous with wonderful views overlooking Lyon and the Alps in the distance. Our room was large, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. The terrace is a great option for a meal, snacks or drinks. The staff is top notch. Would absolutely recommend.
Highly recommend
Amazing hotel. Staff is exceptional. Our room had a beautify view of Lyon and the view from the pool was equally stunning. Spacious room and bathroom. Be aware the hotel is near the top of the hill so it is quite a climb. If you are elderly or not ambulatory this may not be the best choice.
Wonderful hotel and exceptional staff. Would recommend thoroughly
Serious luxury!
Lovely stay
We had a lovely one night stay at Villa Florentine. The staff was all very helpful and arranged a dinner reservation and taxi for us. Would go back for sure!
Beautiful building, great staff and walkable to old town and new
There was nothing to dislike , thought hotel very friendly and professional.
Peaceful Relaxation in Lyon
Amazing hotel! Beautiful room and breathtaking views of Lyon. Took a day off sightseeing, just to relax by the pool and enjoy the peace and quiet. Our rating 10/10
Amazing place to stay! The views and pool was fantastic! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay here again.
Fantastic property
One of the best hotels in Lyon.
Beautifully situated above Vieuw-Lyon with excellent rooms and service, this hotel is altogether superb.
A beautiful hotel with great views of Lyon. Be prepared to climb multiple steps if you’re a walker, but very worthwhile. Our room was exceedingly comfortable. An outstanding breakfast. The staff are top notch. I would highly recommend Villa Florentine.
Best view and bed in lyon
Loved our experience. Staff was amazing and the bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed we ve ever had It’s a treat to have breakfast outside with the amazing view to Lyon . The view really Is amazing ! Only slight disappointment- the jacuzzi is dated and our dinner at the Terrace was “meh” due mainly to service
We had amazing 3 nights at Villa Florentine. The location staff food etc etc were amazing! Thank you all especially the management that ensure their staff are totally committed to their job positions. We shall return!
Lovely Hotel and staff.
Lovely Hotel with fantastic friendly staff. Next time in Lyon I will be back.
This is still my favorite hotel of all time. Firstly, the hotel is a beautiful and historic property. All the little details take you back in time. The views are incredible. Of course the restaurant and breakfast selections are great too. It feels like such a luxury, from the bedding to the tub. What really makes the experience is the staff. They are so attentive and kind. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. They were very helpful with anything we needed. Thank you again for making our stay so perfect.
We had a wonderful one night stay-wish we had more time. Historic beautiful hotel. Thank you to the staff and especially Sarah, lovely people!
Beautiful historic hotel In great location With stunning view The hotel staff were Very helpful
The location is great. Staff were very helpful. Beautiful room with an amazing view of the city. There is nothing that I didn’t like at this hotel. Would definitely recommend.
Great view and spot. Great staff
Most amazing stay in Lyon
The most amazing stay in Lyon.
Best place to stay in Lyon
The Villa is amazingly beautiful with gorgeous views of Lyon. The staff is very friendly and highly professional. I love it!
Excellent staff, brilliant location and a wonderful building!
Too far from shops etc.
Excellent!
Beat place to stay in Lyon!
Great building, better staff
We have stayed at this hotel before. We love the history, the luxury and the location.
Top class hotel in Lyon
A lovely hotel overlooking Vieux Lyon. Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful reception area - an old chapel in a monastery. Nice terrace with heated outdoor pool. Must be lovely in warm weather. Breakfast very good. Convenient to metro.
Loved the hotel! It is on the hill overlooking old town and new town. Walk to old town does have some steps but it’s not that big of a deal. The view from the hotel is amazing! Also, rooms are good size and the staff is friendly and accommodating. If you want to stay in old town Lyon, this is the hotel.
Definitely not a 5 star
We were put in an annex which was quite a way from the main hotel. We had to take two elevators to get to our room. We had two small windows without much of a view. The pillows were rock hard! Breakfast was just okay. Very poor service. One person was serving and talking to several tables but never asked me if I wanted coffee or eggs, etc.
A beautiful haven in the middle of a fantastic city
Absolutely amazing!
Excellent hotel
Very luxurious, great staff and location in old town Lyon.
This is a very elegant property and the staff is very attentive and cheerful. It has great views of the city which make it worthwhile to stay in this elevated hotel.
Terrible design, filthy room, outdated, oh,,, and a cat in my room.
View is spectacular. Did not care for the shower set up. Only a hand-held shower head in a tub. No glass enclosure, so a bit of a mess, water everywhere.
Very special and unique property. Staff provide an experience for their guests. Way up and beyond normal expectations.
Very nice hotel, staff is very friendly and accommodating. Pool and view just beautiful! It is in a very nice area walkable to old part of city and Basilica. I would definitely recommend
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Wonderful situation, courteous and friendly staff who were smartly dressed even in the hottest temperatures, excellent cuisine and facilities. We wished we could have stayed longer. Not cheap, but if you want the best you have to pay for it.
The hotel was beautiful, full of history and in a great location with views from Lyon second to none. Staff was very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Definitively a place we will come back!
Not up to expectations
Not as expected: rooms on pictures look much more attractive. They also badly need an upgrade, looked as if from 1990s to us. Didn't get the room cleaned on 1 of our 3 nights when we returned to the hotel in early afternoon. The swimming pool and the relaxation area around are beautiful.
Beautiful hotel in superb location overlooking Lyon
Amazing location with a view that’s unforgettable.
Fabulous location, excellent service, lovely property.
Exceptional hotel with amazing view/amenities
Beautiful hotel, amazing view. Staff was friendly and we appreciated their suggestions regarding what to do on the one rainy day we had while in Lyon. The hot tub and pool area was exceptional, as was the hotel restaurant. I'd highly recommend eating at that Michelin starred gem. The only negative about the hotel is that it is very high up on the hill so if you go to the old town there are many stairs. Wasn't an issue for us, but if someone were handicapped that could be a major issue. Although the hotel could easily request Taxis for you as needed.
Perfect location for Lyon old town, amazing staff and facilities and outstanding views of the city. Pool a real bonus!!
Worst hotel ever! Terrible staff from the front desk to the management. Dirty bathrooms, no internet, not a 5 star hotel at all. They make mistakes and make you pay creating late fees and the expedia booking system also didn't help it double booked my stay and it was a disaster. Worst place in France I've stayed with my family so far.
A great way to end the day !!
My first time at Villa Florentine and it was a wonderful surprise to the end of the day after a long trip. The staff were and sincere welcoming and the comfort and quiet space of the hotel much appreciated . If I am ever again in Lyon it will be my 1st choice hotel.
Recommended
Great location: Room very big; Great Breakfast; Bathroom bit stuffy as it has no windows and ventilation is very limited Power sockets limited and not in comfortable location. Receptionist had no clue when asked for restaurants recommendation. Concierge was no where to be seen at that time.
Lovely hotel atop Lyon
Our stay was very pleasant, and the views of Lyon are breathtaking. My only lament is not being there in the warm weather months where we could have also enjoyed the lovely pool area.
Amazing and very friendly staff. The views from this property are amazing, although you pay for it a bit in the hike up to the property from the city.
Pool with a view
Beautiful former nunnery with great pool and view
The Villa Florentine in Lyon was simply divine! Set above the city the view of Lyon from this former convent was fantastic. My room had a lovely terrace and was very comfortable. If you go to Lyon treat yourself to a stay in the Villa Florentine and be treated like royalty.
What a fabulous setting, high in the hills in Old Town. We had private patio with view of city. Would highly recommend to anyone!
From the moment we got to the gorgeous hotel above the city of Lyon, we were transported to a lovely, indulgent experience marred by only two unforeseen situations. Since we hadn’t made reservations at the restaurant ahead of time, they were fully booked. I also arrived from Aix quite ill, and needed to go straight to bed. When I began feeling worse, the staff was kind enough to call in a doctor who came to our room, examined me, announced I had bronchitis, administered the right medications, drove my husband to the all-night pharmacy, and got him back to the hotel! I am most impressed by their extraordinary kindness. Breakfast in the alcove by the swimming pool overlooking the city was beautiful and most delicious. We can’t wait to return!
Good hotel in Lyon.
Hotel is very nice, rooms are splendid but dated. Only problem is if you can’t take stairs(200+ steps) or incline. Restaurant at the hotel is above hotel food to very good. Breakfast was included and good. Not really suited to families, more like mature couples.
The property is above the old part of Lyon, nice location, a bit of a challenge to get to with traffic. The room was lovely but the bathrooms are old and the layout is a bit awkward but overall, it was a spacious room.
Very welcoming &helpful staff , beautiful location overlooking old Lyon
The hotel is very nice. The staff was helpful. The location is convenient. Room 3 is located below the hotels restaurant which created noise late into the night, well past midnight from chairs and tables being dragged across the stone floor above the room. At hotel of this quality and price a guest should not have this experience.
Very lovely resort nestled in Fourviere Hill. Beautiful amenities and cozy at the same time. Very courteous and professional staff made stay very pleasant. Really enjoyed our stay there and will go back if in Lyon.
Very spacious rooms, great views. Loved it! The only negative thing would be that in order to go anywhere without a car you need to go down about 230 steps! And of course, back up if you do not call a taxi!
Beautiful and relaxing stay
The service was the most accommodating while traveling in France. It is a beautiful historic building with a breathtaking view. Don’t worry about parking which can be a challenge in Lyon. Drive to the door and the staff will take your car to their garage.
Beautiful views
Lovely hotel in a great location overlooking Lyon. Would not recommend for anyone not in great shape due to the number of stairs required to get to the old town
Beautiful historical building with fabulous attentive staff.
Beautiful view of Lyon !
We enjoyed our 2 night stay. We took advantage of the sauna, pool and hot tub. We were looking forward to eating at the hotel Michelin star restaurant but it is closed Sunday and Monday. The two days we were there. We had to take steep steps to the city below . An onerous trip coming back up,for those having any mobility issues. The staff were gracious to our needs. The hotel has an interesting history .
Perfect getaway
This 5 star hotel is excellent. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. It sits high up over old town Lyon. Spectacular views. Breakfast was superb.
Fabulous Villa Florentine
This hotel is beautiful, in a great location in the city and the staff is exceptional. They went out of their way to make this a very extraordinary stay. The rooftop views from the pool and hot tub are stunning. Definitely put this hotel at the top of your list!!
Lovely Hotel and front of house stuff but.....
The waiting staff in the bar are virtually non existent. The hotel is very nice and in a great position. Greeted by staff and a glass of Duval Leroy champagne which was excellent. The room information states the sauna and steam are on a different level to the pool but this is not the case, the sauna is on the same level as the pool and we didn't find a steam room. The curtains in the room (room 9) need to be steamed possibly as they don't hang too well. All in all a nice stay but a lack of communication by the bar staff when myself and my husband were the only 2 people in the bar marred the stay. Too many chiefs possibly!
Luxury hotel perfectly situated with amazing views
The staff at the hotel is very polite and helpful and the hotel is very conveniently located above vieux Lyon, which gives you amazing views from the bedrooms, pool, jacuzzi and halls. Breakfast was amazing and all the amenities in the hotel really favor a nice stay.
Excellent hotel .
Good friendly staff lovely rooms great location .5 star .
Wonderful hotel with excellent staff
The view from the hotel was wonderful and the location is quite convenient, although it is a bit of a climb to get back to and fro the hotel. The breakfast was also excellent. What made the stay really memorable was the staff who were friendly and helpful. A shoutout to Nicholas who was very prompt with email replies and helpful with reservations even before the stay. I'm afraid I didn't get the names of the other staff at the reception and concierge but in all an excellent team. Will come back again to this hotel should I ever return to Lyon.
The only thing good was the lovely concierge!
This place was horrible! Useless manager and staff, save the wonderful concierge who was the concierge, bellhop and car valet while absolutely everyone else sat on their butts and were unhelpful! The room didn’t have any accessible plugs and I had to move a desk to use the outlet to charge my phone. There is a flight of steps to get to the rooms and the ONLY thing accessible by foot are the Roman ruins. Everything else requires a taxi/Uber or walking up/down 200 meters of steps sheer down the hillside. The room service food was pitiful and were unable to accomidate any food allergies. This place is 3 stars at best. We arrived on a Saturday and there was absolutely no availability in the hotel restaurant. Disappointing!
Beautiful Hotel, Excellent Service
Beautiful place in the historic district. It is up in the hills just below the Basilica, so walking up to the hotel is a challenge. But for the view, it is worth it.
Very impressive property high on a hill overlooking Lyon.Staff was very attentive and accommodating. Concierge extremely helpful in getting reservations, etc.
Great location, beautiful hotel and excellent serv
The hotel is in great location with beautiful view of Lyon. The room is very nice and clean. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk into the hotel. There is a roof top swimming pool if you are up to swimming.
very disapointing for Relais & Chateau
Traveled in France for 3 weeks this September. This hotel was the worst. Our room was small, dark, airless and hot! The thermostat read 30 degrees...which is 86. The receptionist turned on the Air conditioning and said it would take awhile to cool. We opened the small window and went downstairs as the room was unbearable. Soon discovered there was no A/C. It had been turned off the week before and it was impossible to switch it back on for some archaic reason. It took us four hours, 4 phone calls and a talk with the asst manager to get a fan. Room never cooled to less than about 80. Miserable night. When we had our rental car brought around, it had a new big dent. Manager wrote note accepting responsibility but, we will just have to wait and see how this turns out. So not good stay.
Location
Awesome location in a beautiful part of the old town

Incredible hotel ! We are experienced travelers and this is in the top 10 of hotels we have stayed at and the value is incredible for the luxurious hotel !
