A beautiful hotel a short drive outside the medina. Choose it for lush grounds, a friendly team and a great pool. We had a few problems with our room which were raised with the staff and resolved to a degree. Be wary of the superior bungalow with courtyard view… it’s actually in the car park and does not reflect the high standards and ambience the hotel generally sets.
Nice and quiet place for relaxing
Quality should be part of the style
The room quality very poor , no phone to contact the reception , not convenient far from everything . WiFi not working properly . Not recommended .
Very nice moment!
Very quiet and peaceful place. Pretty rooms with nice view in a pretty garden guarded by cute rabbits. The pool and the restaurant are very cosy. However, the pillows are way too soft and the breakfast is very light.
This hotel was by far the worst hotel we stayed in Marrakesh and put a downer on our trip. The hotel is in a quiet area and has beautiful gardens and for the most part the staff are friendly. HOWEVER the rooms do not live up to pictures at all! They show water on a table in the room, that will come at an extra price, none at all is provided and they leave a fairly aggressive note on your bed for your arrival letting you know that bringing in drinks is ‘strictly prohibited’. There was a wurring noise coming from the air con unit/electrics (the air con wasn’t on) that caused the lights in our room to dim for a few seconds followed by a thud which stopped the noise, this happened frequently and also woke us up during the night. We did report it only to have absolutely nothing done about it. We had no way of locking our balcony door so that was unlocked for the entirety of our stay. Two of the lamps in our room didn’t have working bulbs and looked nothing like the attractive ones in the website pictures, there was a slightly foul smell around the wardrobes/loo that never seemed to go away, the walls were cracked and the place really needed a lick of paint! The bath has chunks of plaster missing, the shower took 5-10 mins to run semi warm when turned on full hot. Terrible breakfast (unless you pay €5 for eggs per day) they provide bread, cake and chopped fruit sat in juices that was not fresh, orange juice and coffee/tea, you have to buy water (another €3 per 75cl).
The hotel was in a quiet area and beautiful gardens and for the most part the waiting staff were friendly and polite.
We had a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and the staff is amazing. Make sure you have the Tanjia for dinner one night, it's to die for! The villa is off the beaten path, which we liked because it was so quiet and tranquil. Some people may prefer to be closer to all the hustle and bustle, just depends on your personal preference. The car service that the hotel provides is slightly more expensive than local taxis, but in my opinion it's completely worth it. The service is amazing, the cars are big and clean, and you don't have to worry about having enough cash to pay or getting lost. I would highly recommend staying here!
Immediately on booking an airport pick up was offered which worked really well as the hotel is a little way out of town and not the easiest to find. Incredibly friendly and willing staff - sometimes we were not always understood but we muddled through. Food was good, always cooked to order, very good sized portions, enjoyed in front of a log fire - chilly evenings at this time of year. Pool and gardens looked good. Overall a small well run hotel that was good value but not as refined as some of the very expensive ones in the middle of Marrakesh
Small, wonderfully private hotel, a little way out of the city, but enoug to make it peaceful and calm. A perfect change from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff are excellent and they are what makes a stay at Al Assala special. Nothing is too much for them. Thank you to Mehdi Mustapha and the girls. I will be recommending Al Assala to my friends.
Beautiful and quiet property
Enjoyed my stay but most of all the staff was amazing. Bed isn't what I expected nor the tub but everything worked out perfectly. Again the staff they were awesome.
The service was good. It was a mini holiday that me and my partner needed. Mehdi answered all my questions prior to our arrival. He also arranged for our airport pick-up even when we only decided last minute. He makes sure guests are comfortable with their stay as much as possible. Staff are hospitable and try their best to meet guest needs. My partner was not well so whenever we ask for hot water so he can drink lemsip the kitchen staff would deliver hot water to our room. I'm heavily pregnant and needed extra pillow to sleep comfortably, mehdi sorted it out even though he was already signing out on the way home.
Excellent villal and staff
Excellent villa - quiet location for a great getaway. Villa staff could not do enough to make sure your stay was relaxed and you had everything you needed. Always cleaning to make sure the villa was in 'tip top' condition.
The streets in this area are not named. This property is walled and cannot be seen from the outside, has no address and most importantly NO SIGN to let you know where you are. This is very frustrating when you know where you are going in a rental car. We drove around for 2 hours looking for it. We had driven by it several times but with no sign, it was impossible to find. The owner explained that has never happened before... BS!! PUT UP A SIGN!!!
Beautiful exclusive hotel
We stayed there for 6 days and it was like living and having your own personal and exclusive space. The style and decoration was beautiful. Perfect place to chill out and use as a base for going to Marrakesh. You can eat all meals outside under a shaded canopy by the pool and gardens and really absorb the beauty of the place. Staff were great and other guests friendly but not intrusive if you did not want that. Is a little out of Marrakesh but we had hired a car and so transport was no problem. Taxis will be called for you if you have no transport anyway.
Relaxing, peaceful and beautiful.
We stayed 3 night here. The hotels grounds are very well maintained, huge gardens, lovely pool. The staff were helpful and friendly. With only 10 rooms, it felt very peaceful. The decor of the main building was beautiful. The room was large with a cute balcony. Would absolutely come back to this hotel for some relaxation.
Expensive, average
Quite far away from anything. So expect to pay around £20 taxi return if you want to go anywhere. Hotel prices expensive, only got provided one small bottle of water each but only on the first night. Around €5 for a bottle of water which was warm and only given 2 cubes of ice in a glass. Breakfast was NOT included with my booking even though it clearly stated on my booking. The owner refused to accept this. Not 24hr reception. Spent most of my time looking for staff. They were friendly though. The cable TV was mostly French. No mini fridge in the room. Provided the wrong number by hotel.com for the hotel so was put in a dangerous situation with taxi fare to go back to the hotel. Sun lounge area the highlight of the stay. Too secluded from anywhere. Could not find one shop or cafe around the hotel. Taxi ordered from hotel was ridiculous. Told 150 MAD one way by one hotel worker, the next day 200 MAD one way 300 MAD return by another. Told off for buying water from the market? Water is a necessity. Paying €10 for 2 when I can get a pack of 6 which are cold for the same price?! The air con in my room was blowing warm air. Asked in the morning, told he would fix it, 4hrs later, not fixed. Asked the woman at reception and she showed me that you had to stand on a table and aim the remote correctly as the cover of the AC was blocking the signal point. I would only recommend for someone who only likes to stay in a hotel when abroad. There was however no entertainment provided.
Perfect for relaxation
Fantastic stay. Villa a bit out of the way from everywhere which is good for relaxing but bad as you need to get a taxi into town each time. Staff were amazing and really friendly! Food was delicious! Would 100% recommend and will be going back!
Special but not a five star hotel
This hotel has ten rooms, and is much more like a B&B than a luxury resort hotel. The owners live onsite, are westerners, and own other hotels -which makes the lack of expected items even more disappointing. There are no bathrobes, there are no basic amenities such as hair products/lotion/cheap disposable razor, no free bottle of water (they charge you two dollars even though it costs pennies locally). The towels are not big & fluffy. No restaurant, just a staff person that will cook you one of ten items on a list - again at an over the top markup. It truly feels like you are just staying at someone's house....and that is what makes it special. The garden is beautiful. The staff are really kind. It is a unique experience and perfect for a family. Don't expect five star, but do expect five star pricing, and be open to what makes this property unique.
Home away from home
Home away from home. Perfect location for a quiet break. However, a $20 taxi ride to town and back. But, worth it. Good neighbourhood. Good service. Moderate sized rooms. Shower could be better.
Most relaxing holiday ever.
After a very stressful arrival and passport control experience (the worst ever airport)the transfer which our host had arranged started the holiday brilliantly. Marrakech is beautiful and the villa is the most peaceful place to stay. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are clean and comfortable and staff were the best I have ever met on a holiday. Top marks !!!
Very welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, friendly
Unforgettable experience, we loved everything about it, gardens are beautiful, pool is great. Perfect place to relax; staff tries to grant you every wish. We will definitely come back again and again and again!!
MOST AMAZING VILLA
I just got back from morocco and basically teared saying goodbye at the airport. I had stayed here with my mother for a week and I strongly believe this hotel was the reason our trip was breath taking. From the very kind hotel staff doing everything to make your stay comfortable, they were so sweet and loved engaging with my mom and I. This villa hotel was so beautiful, quiet and small. It only has 10 rooms and when my mom and I went we were the only ones there with another couple. 20 minute drive from the airport and 10 minute drive anywhere else in, quiet little stay right outside the busy city of Marrakech. The pool was superb, the rooms where superb, and the food was to die for. The hotel employee yaseem was so nice and helped make our trip the best. The villa has there own associations with tour guides/drivers, however our private driver they supplied was also our tour guide for everyday we stayed and it was also very cheap! His name was abdul latif and he was the sweetest person ever, making sure I had a great time every step of the way! I didn't have any intention of returning to morocco but now I must go back as soon as I can just for the hotel! I wish they had more locations around the world to stay in! Just perfect, everything.
Very peaceful away from the hustle of the city
Was a lovely retreat. Very friendly staff, always attentive. Could have been more toiletries and items you would expect in a 5* hotel.
Beautiful Villa in quiet Palmeraie
Stayed for 9 nights. Went for trip to Atlas mountains to see Ouzoud waterfalls which was highlight of holiday where we swum in pools and saw wild monkeys. Chilled out in the hotel Hamam and by pool. Wandered the Souks in the Medina. Evening feast at Jemaa el Fna.
Not a 5 star
I regret not having read those reviews provided by Ken Wilson, Paddy Briggs, Pakipsy99 as they are most accurate and in line with our experience. Disappointed.
Hotel
Nice enough hotel but be aware that small - 10 rooms, and perhaps overly intimate (some may enjoy this but I found it difficult to get away from everyone) and NOT close to the centre with little else around it. A 'shuttle transfer' as stated on the hotel amenities was in fact a £15 return taxi journey . There's nothing at all within walking distance so can feel in the middle of nowhere which- again , some may enjoy. Staff were hard working and very nice but there weren't enough of them and they had their work cut out bless them
An Oasis of Calm
This was my first visit to Marrakech and I can't wait to return. The Hotel was magic. The only thing missing was a fridge in the room! V important feature in such heat to have cold water available at all times. Otherwise it was perfect.
A bit of morroccan charm
If you want to get away from the normal hotel experience and try something a little more traditional this is for you. The Villa concept was new to me, 10 rooms only, a beautiful pool, great food, excellent service. We were only English there but had no problem communicating. Secluded, peaceful, convenient for the city and airport - would go again.
beautiful resort in prestigious location
nice warm atmosphere beautiful garden and easy to find in the outskirt of Marrakesh. very good indications. true 5 stars hotel reaching the prestigious french palace standards.
Quiet environment but far from the Medina and city
Comfortable stay
Just lovely!
Very relaxing Villa a bit out of town so peaceful and quiet. The staff are just amazing and made our stay I have never had such attentive service. Would recommend a French phrase book if you don't speak French, the owner is fluent in English but to get the most out of the stay you should try and talk to all the staff who mostly speak French (but are happy to listen to you try your best!). The rooms are huge and ours had a lovely patio out onto the immaculate gardens. A really relaxed attitude really added to our stay too, breakfast at midday? No problem! Dinner in our room? No problem! Budget for taxi journeys into the city centre as you will need these we didn't try the local bus service (at rush hour it looked crazy busy), but the food at the Villa is excellent so sometimes we managed never to leave and really chill out.
Tranquility within chaos
A wonderful retreat . The owners and their staff make every guest feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The food was of fine quality. The accommodation was spacious, the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was pleasantly decorated however the shower was disappointing . The hotel is surrounded by well kept , peaceful gardens . It takes no more than 10mins to reach the centre of Marrakech and the drivers associated to the hotel will look after you without being expensive. In summary it may not have all the 5 * luxuries however none of these are missed as you are overwhelmed by the 6* hospitality
Fabulous villa for families or couples
We had a lovely stay at the Villa. The gardens and pool are like an oasis after spending the day in the medina. The food is also wonderful as are the staff. Nothing was a problem - they went out of their way to help us clean and prepare our baby bottles and also offered fabulous restaurant recommendations. We would definitely recommend this Villa to both couples and families.
Lovely place to stay
We all loved staying at the Villa Al Assala, the staff were delightful the place was peaceful and relaxing and the food was simple but very good.It is just a short drive to and from the airport and also from the bustle of the centre of Marrakesh A perfect place for a short break
Relaxation at its best!
This is a great villa/riad and I am convinced that anyone who stays here will agree. We were made very comfortable and the food and general service is fantastic, You can breakfast and lunch at different places in the Villa: poolside, outside the room overlooking the beautiful gardens - where you can take a walk, or inside the dining area which is also clean and has a warm Morrocan ambience. You get a personalised service which you don't find in most hotels. It does lack some minor 5* touches but definintely compensates in other areas. The distance from the centre of Marrakech by taxi costs 200 MD for a return journey which is around £17. Out of the 7 nights we stayed we travelled 5 times to the main square which cost around £85. Do budget for these taxi rides. And before I forget to mention, my wife loved the spa treatments! Overall: we will definitely be visiting Villa Al Assala again on our next visit. 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5
Beautiful
Fantastic friendly hotel. Best tagine we ate in morocco too.
Tranquil oasis in the midst of madness
I cannot rave enough about our stay in Villa Al Assala or Marrakesh. The streets of Marrakech are completely chaotic with a variety of cars, trucks, bicycles, scooters and pedestrians weaving their way between each other, dicing with death. The sights, sounds and smells are extremely exotic compared to home but enticing nonetheless. After a day sidestepping traffic, fighting off sellers of anything and everything and being smothered by the desert heat stepping into the Villa was like stepping into another world. I cannot praise the staff enough for their kindness, hospitality, conscientiousness and eagerness to ensure that we had everything we needed and that our holiday was relaxed, peaceful and unwanting. Our room was spacious and although there were a few little issues, such as smell from air conditioner, door handles fell off the wardrobe, plug hole coming loose from sink, they did not detract from the overall ambience of the place. We felt like we were the only ones there, although we weren't, due to the service and attention to us that we received from Miriam and Mourand. The breakfast was basic but enough to start the day well. Dinner or lunch was served when you requested and all very good if a little expensive. Overall a fantastic place. Will definitely visit again. Also recommend restaurants bo-zin, La Tanjia, Cafe de la Poste, bars in La Manounia.
Beautiful, discreet oasis. Stay and don't bother with Marrakesh centre!!
I took my husband here for a 4 night 40th birthday treat. The staff, grounds, food, suite were all fantastic. The bed is THE most comfortable either of us have ever slept in. The only thing I would have liked is tea/coffee making in the room. Miriam on front of house couldn't have been more accommodating. Drivers into the centre of Marrakesh were quick & easy to arrange. It was nice to be out of the city centre away from the madness. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa or indeed return myself. LOVED LOVED LOVED it.
~oasis in the sun~
After 3 days tramping around the souks ., we spent the next 4 days relaxing at this hoitel., nice swimming pool within extensive gardens , food was excellent/ no tariff ask for menu /prices in advance / staff attentive .,/ it is situated 5 miles outside main city ., in a remote area but taxis readily available/and not expensive.we would recommend without hestitation.
What an amazing find!
Al assala is perhaps one of the most special hotels I have been to. Friendly, caring and informative staff, fantastic food, lovely pool, gorgeous rooms and great hospitality. The owner christof was so helpful and made our 'minimoon' perfect.
Villa Al Assalla Palmeraie
If you want a small, quiet and exclusive hideaway that feels like your own holiday home, this is for you. Lovely pool and surroundings and authentic Moroccan style villa with all comforts and luxuries in a friendly atmosphere . If you want lots of English people then take your friends with you and you can make the place your own for a week as the place is very popular with French holiday makers. You can enjoy chilling and sunbathing there everyday in your own oasis and take occasional trips out but because the villa is a couple of miles from central Marrakech taxis can be expensive. Of course, if you stay in the Villa and eat there all the time, the bill at the end for extras will be quite high, but all meals are very well cooked and presented, better than most restaurants there. They will try and satisfy any request you have but do not expect instant service like a hotel, as sometimes the few staff are busy or just a bit slow. We would go back again to this Villa, but we'd take friends with us as we'd have more people to talk to and more fun in the pool. The pool is great if you have a few children with you!
A Wonderful Escape
Very impressed at how beautiful the Riad and its grounds were. Great service; a relaxed atmosphere with fewer restrictions (e.g. willing to accommodate late breakfast) made this a more friendly & personal experience. Rooms were luxurious and stylish, bed was especially luxurious! Close enough to be easily in reach of the city centre, but far away enough to have some peace and quiet from all the noise.
A truly wonderful experience
From the moment we stepped out of our taxi we were welcomed with huge smiles from the members of staff who could not have provided a better service! The main Villa is beautiful, you walk through and it opens up to the stunning infinity pool with the huge white leather sun-longers (for which you are supplied fresh towels and sun hatsdaily). There was a nice calm atmosphere about the villa, people were there to enjoy the peace and the lovely weather, it was a very friendly environment. The rooms were lovely with nice balconies which looked out over the gardens. The location was good as it was a relief to escape the madness and the extreeme heat of the city/medina areas, but it does mean approx £12-£16 (150/200 dirhams) taxi ride each time you head out which can mount up. As mentioned the service was top notch, the staff could not do more for you, very sweet, Christophe and his wife were lovely as well (the owners), very welcoming and helpful. (I would recommend touching up your French before visiting Marrakech!!) The evening meals at the villa were very nice indeed, cant be faulted - the only slight point i would make about the food would be that the breakfasts got very repetitive - after a few days the thought of dry toast/ morrocan cakes and coff/eeorange juice every morning fails to delight!! All in all yes i would thoroughly recommend this villa!
Amazing Riad!!!
The Riad was beautiful and met all our expextations! Very friendly staff members and excellent service!! I recommend this Riad to anybody trying to spend some quiet and romantic time in Marrakech!
Magical place. Stayed in the medina (old town of Marrakech) two nights and then went out to Villa Al Assala which was PERFECT. Super friendly staff and wonderful surroundings, even though there’s a big street and you hear the cars from far, you could zoom out. We meditated in the morning and layed our bathrobes in the grass and did yoga. Since the hotel only had around ten rooms it was never crowded and everything felt very personal. We went for long walks but would recommend that only day time between 9-6 if you’re a woman.
Relaxing, Beautiful, great service, friendly and helpful staff
Reposant
Very happy with my stay, definitely coming back!
Very cost boutique hotel, rooms in a riad-style villa. Great and friendly, as well as personal, service. Incredible value for money (both for rooms and wine prices), rental car is highly recommended though as the villa is situated in Palmeraie, a posh residential area just outside the city centre. Super cosy with a fireplace with a live fore in the mornings and evenings (and otherwise on request). Pool was not heated, which wasn’t an issue in the Marrakech heat. Was told by the owner that renovation work will be done and that pool water heating is coming soon. I had a special request for Moroccan Khlii/Khlea for breakfast, and they arranged it without issue the say after I requested it.
Parfait!
Chasse d’eau cassée a plusieurs reprises, wc sales a l’arrivée.
Quiet and peaceful place in Palmeraie
The staff was very accommodating and the place was very nice, but it felt a little bit empty due to the small number of rooms. This could of course be either a good or a bad thing, depending on how you want it. For me, it was nice that it was quiet and peaceful, but a little bit too quiet.
Super gemotiveerd personeel. Altijd vriendelijk. Je voelt je de koning.

Exactly what we wanted
Amazing. Well curated and executed. A peaceful retreat stones throw from the chaos!
