Hilario and the team at Vila Luz are top notch - ideal location for meander into the resort

My friend and I stayed at this property, and despite check in taking some time (we were early), we really loved our room. We appreciated the space of the rooms, the nice shower (only wish it was a bit hotter), smart tvs. Having a kitchen was a nice touch although we did not use it much. The breakfast was simple but perfect due t the daily slight changes they made. There is a hotel cat that roams around, esp first thing in the morning but they say she is friendly otherwise. The only thing we felt was lacking was 24 hour front desk. We left pretty early on our departure date without true instructions on what to do about the key or check out. We did arrange transport from the hotel to the airport, so it would have been nice just having a friendly front desk to make sure it was correct for us as well. Overall great place, and we enjoyed the Algarve Region.

Convenient, nice breakfast, easy walk to town, quiet

Beautiful property with big rooms with amazing views. Only request would be to have the upper pool “adult only” for a portion of the stay as there were a lot of children.

An absolute must

Wonderfully helpful staff. Gave great local recommendations. Location is perfect for beach and dining access. Well kept and clean throughout. Excellent and varied breakfast. The views are stunning and the vibe is welcoming and relaxed.

Property was beautiful and room was great. I wish pool had been heated. I tried to get in but it was too cold. No one else was in either. Also I don’t feel the amenities listed on Expedia matched hotel. There was 1 restaurant/bar-no beach bars on site and pool bar was the same indoor restaurant/bar. Expedia description needs updating.

Great place for an extended vacation in the Lagos Area. The hotel was 15 min walk from Pais da Luz right along the ocean . The hotel was quiet. The pool area is inviting. The staff was unassuming but professional and accommodating. I would recommend it highly .

Great relaxing stay at Vila Luz

It is a great hotel and nice location. Our contact was with Juan as he checked us in and occasionally communicated during the stay. Not much of other interactions. Rooms were large and clean. A very safe and relaxing place and managed to go see many places from there as we had a car. The only downside was the breakfast start time was at 8:30 and we also felt that they could be more generous with variety of the fruits. The fresh squeezed orange juice was a hit. Overall a great stay

My review is from. North American perspective. The staff are amazing and super helpful. The location outside of Lagos in Luz was thought to be a negative at first but was a bonus. The only downside is the value of this property based on the condition of the hotel. Although clean, the hotel rooms are tired. Staff is definitely 9.3 but the hotel condition is 7.2 and the total value is more like 7.

Just as described

The views from this property are fantastic. The pools are lovely. The food was good. What stood out was the staff. They were absolutely delightful. We want to return for a longer stay!

Quiet location with easy walk to town/beach.

Quiet neighborhood with a short 15min walk to the restaurants and beach. Large clean room with kitchenette. Good breakfast and friendly service. They even have a small garage for parking in the shade.

Too far away from everything and everybody we saw there was 70 years old. We left within 30 minutes and found another hotel in Lagos.

We stumbled upon this hotel and the area quite by accident. We were pleasantly surprised around every turn we made, both at the hotel and in the area. Such a wonderful spot!

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times, we love it. The rooms are studio style with plenty of room and spotlessly clean. We always pay the little extra for a balcony and view which are lovely and peaceful. The walk into town is fine though the walk back is uphill. Lots of restaurants and cafes in town and the hotel has a nice bar too. The pool is lovely, the breakfast is good, the staff are pleasant, in fact we have no complaints.

My daughter and I stayed for 6 days during Easter break, our room was upgraded (Abrigado!) to a bigger room with a separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room (spacious room and lots of storage areas) and balcony. Friendly staff (very helpful and kind), room very clean with comfortable bed, nice breakfast included, the town center and praia de luz beach are walking distance, we really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely spot on the Algarve. Beautiful view from 2nd floor balcony. Comfortable beds, good breakfast, friendly staff. Nice and quiet. Short walk into town.

The free pool table is a total bonus! Every member of the staff is acutely concerned about the guest experience. They really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.

Great pool with nice view of the coast. Room was excellent (Panoramic Studio). There is no real restaurant on the property though they serve breakfast & some pre-prepared food (pizza, etc). Mixed friendliness from staff but no one was rude. Guy who checked us in was the best. Easy walk to town to restaurants, etc. A bit far to the beach, but doable. Overall a good place to relax.

Absolutely fantastic location, property and staff. Exquisite hotel with personable and professional staff located in a quaint small little town with a lot of character and things to do. A real travel bargain considering the competition.

Nice place but overrated ..... enjoyed our stay

Very nice place. Clean friendly staff. Very good layout around pool and grounds. Be sure to request a room with a balcony with view of ocean and pool if available. Good breakfast though nothing special. Beds were terrible and bed coverings worse. Air conditioning / heater were so loud we could not use them when sleeping so froze during the night... even with light blankets provided.

Beautiful location. The hotel was lovely and very clean. I loved the pool but unfortunately didn’t get to go for a swim - it was a little too cool outside. The grocery store and lots of restaurants are within walking distance as well as a beautiful beach! Would definitely stay here again!

Everything was perfect. The person at the front desk was extremely proffesional and friendly. The rooms were very clean. The air conditioned worked well. Comfortable and well illuminateed rooms.

We have just got back from a weeks stay with our two children 3 & 4. We had a pool room which was excellent. The cleanliness is excellent. Great location. Breakfast excellent! Throughly recommend.

Great option in Praia da Luz

Great, calm place in a very convenient location to enjoy Praia da Luz and surroundings. 10 min walk to the bar/restaurants, 20 min car ride to Lagos and other beaches. Extremely nice staff.

Lovely outlook both from the rooms over the pool area and from the pool area over the sea. Rooms themselves were a bit dated/shabby but still very good for the price.

My stay was amazing. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. My room was very clean, comfortable, quiet and perfect. The pool was clean with a view of the ocean. The hotels bar and lounge area was very nice with daily happy hours and drinks of the day. 15 min walk to the town. 20 min bus ride to Lagos. I couldn't ask for a more perfect stay.

Beautiful quiet location at hotel luz.. only complaint was water im swimming pool freezing.. too cold to swim.... highly recommend this location..

A gem

I have stayed in many hotels across the world and this is the best. The room cleaning daily was extremely comprehensive. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. On leaving there is a large male & female shower toilet area in which to wash and change. Underground parking meant the car wasn't boiling. Beautiful sheltered gardens. Abundance of sunbeds and really comfortable cushions and good sun umbrellas. Pool very clean and decent size for size of hotel. Kitchenette very well stocked with utensils and crockery. Excellent selection of tv stations, not common even in the best of hotels. Internet facility in bar area. Lovely bar area both inside & outside nicely shaded. Excellent air conditioning. Really decent sized bathroom, not your normal European size. A nice short walk to a small compact town. One fantastic restaurant (Fortaluz), same prices as r restaurants but no other restaurant could match the cooking. Tried others and kept coming back to Fortaluz. I can't give this hotel a high enough rating. I would prefer not to as I would like to keep it an undiscovered secret.

Right On!

We hope to come back- just loved staying here. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, convenient parking, delicious breakfast, spacious rooms - all excellent. Appreciated help paying the confusing electronic tolls on A-22. Enjoyed being a few minutes walk from Luz and proximity to historical sites where the Portuguese launched the Age of Exploration. Considered staying at Salema, but glad we chose Luz. Thanks for a great experience.

Great area to stay for shopping and sightseeing

It was a bit noisy due to construction in the area but the staff were so nice and knowledgeable about the area.

Nice place to stay

This is a very nice place to stay..rooms are very spacious but the single beds are rock hard. You have a 10 to 15 mintute walk into the main centre with plenty of resturants available...very affortable accommodation.

Not at the center of fun but very nice!

Twin beds a minus especially since beds made so tight but overall very clean and nice. A bit off the beaten track but close enough for an after super walk.

Spacious room, accommodating staffs and good service. We had an excellent ocean view room where we enjoyed breakfast there.

A lovely holiday in Portugal

The apartments were spotlessly clean, the staff were very helpful and the swimming pool was delightful. we would recommend this place to anyone who wants a self catering holiday, our apartment had a small kitchen diner with a microwave oven and hob and a fridge. We could walk out of our room straight down to the pool which was surrounded by palm trees.

Lovely hotel

Loved staying at this hotel and wish we had planned on longer. The room was a good size and the kitchenette was perfect for making our own eggs for breakfast. It was only a 7 minute walk to the church and the start of the promenade. We had a nice terrace overlooking the pool and the lovely grounds and also the sea. Would stay here again.

Very nice aparthotel close to the sea. The front desk staff were very helpful and obliging. The hotel facilities were great.

Great place

We had a great stay at aparthotel Vila luz. The place is nicer than we expected based on the pictures we saw. They were doing some small renovations, as it was their offseason, while we were there but it did not bother us at all. The staff made up for any inconveniences it may have caused. Both of the girls working were absolutely wonderful. They were very friendly and made my daughter and I feel right at home.

Okay stay

Room was decent but bed was hard and uncomfortable. There were no toiletries like a bar of soap. We had to request for new towels. Staff was very friendly though.

Great hotel, great staff. Only bad side was someone had cooked in the room prior to our stay and you could not get rid of the curry smell.
