Good atmosphere but small rooms and a light flickering outside neighbours room all night.
Terrific service especially from Alicia, Alejandro and Vrenka (?). Highly recommended.
Staff are very helpful and welcoming
The staff at Vieja Cuba are so friendly and helpful. This includes Alejandro and Alyssia and the cleaning. You are close to many sites. There is an excellent supermarket nearby and several restaurants and cafes.
We love this hotel
Love the feel of the property 👌
Great stay
We are the only ones staying here unfortunately but it was a very nice little hotel with a lot of good restaurants nearby
Me encanto este hotel por tu tranquilidad, hospitalidad, se siente diferente al resto de hoteles convencionales.
This was a perfect get away. Very close to supermarket and shopping. I also took a tour to Mitad del Mundo with the pick-up location only 2 blocks away. I love this place, and the staff were so nice. Two thumbs up!
Friendly slightly quirky hotel
Enjoyed our stay at vieja cuba which has an interesting style and staff are very friendly. Room allocated was not as large as indicated in photo by Hotels.com. Breakfast good but not extensive and plenty of restaurants and a supermarket nearby
Lovely hotel and excellent service.
This is a lovely house with many traditional features still. No stairs to get to the upstairs room but the girl on reception very kindly helped me with my heavy case up the stairs. I didn’t get her name but she was so so helpful and friendly during our stay - even helping us to arrange a food delivery when all the nearby restaurants were closed one evening on the public holiday. The room was clean, quiet and what we needed. The local area felt safe and we were happy to walk around nearby.
wonderful!
I couldn't have been more thrilled with the room, the ambiance, and the thoughtfulness of the staff. thank you!!!
Gem!
Beautiful, artistically done hotel!! Great staff. Convenient location to old town Quito.
Stayed 2 nights. Very clean. We felt safe at the hotel. Dining options short walk nearby. Great breakfast-eggs, cereal, fruit. The staff was very attentive to our needs. We had an early check out and they provided us with a light breakfast to take with us.
no elevator in the hotel, if your room is at 2nd floor, you will need to carry your luggage upstairs. I like the breakfast.
Solid, comfortable stay
Convenient location - centrally located (walkable) to coffee shops and restaurants, other neighborhoods. Room and hotel, in general, was very clean and cozy. The room was a bit small for two people and our suitcases, but we made it work! Staff were extremely helpful and willing to assist as needed with taxis, recommending restaurants, or storing our luggage for a few hours after checkout. Overall, we found the place to meet our needs.
Cute hotel! Great location! The staff was so helpful and accommodating.
The front desk was so helpful calling restaurants for us, arranging taxis, and sending out our laundry; I can't say enough good things about the service here. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet but there were plenty of places to eat nearby; don't miss Selina Coffeeshop on Diego de Almagro!
clean and safe
Top notch! Best hotel experience I've had in years. Super helpful staff who went above and beyond...ordered taxis, food delivery, printed out covid test results. Great breakfast with eggs, toast, fresh fruit, fresh juice, yoghurt, cereal. Clean rooms beautifully appointed. Extra safe with locked gate.
I will definitely recommend, very friendly people, silvia the girl from the front desk was super nice with us and helpful all the time. We love our breakfast and it is very quiet..
I loved everything it was a great experience like I said in my personal review as a local guide we're definitely coming back to this place the next time we travel to Ecuador. Thank you.
Enjoyed three nights here and loved our room - #11. It is two levels with the king bed on second level. There is a small balcony between the levels. Very good service. The woman working at the front desk even provided a small snack for the van the morning we did an early tour. Also, she arranged taxi several times. Great hotel. Highly recommend for quaintness and service.
Service Beyond Excellent
Who could have guessed that we would discover the standard for service above excellence in Ecuador? Jose’ helped us find food, stay safe, get taxis, negotiate COVID requirements, print results, make and serve breakfast and much more. He was always friendly and patient, and took a sincere interest in us. We simply cannot express how he made us so welcome. The Veija Cuba Hotel has true charm and the restaurant area is warm and welcoming. Who would want to stay in a standard cubicle in a name brand hotel when one can stay in a beautifully renovated Quito mansion? I should also mention that the price is an really great value.
Beautiful hotel that is peaceful and quiet to sleep in. The breakfast was great with lots of fresh fruit. And to top it off, all of the staff are extremely kind and friendly and will help you with as much as they can.
Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Nice neighbourhood.
I've always had has great stay here. The rooms in the back courtyard are very quite and away from the street. Great breakfast, and love the dark coffee! Friendly staff. I'll be back!
The hotel was beautiful. the property and gardens were well kept . i enjoyed the architectural style . The restaurant area and lobby were very pleasant and spotless.if I go to Ecuador again I would love to stay there. I highly recommend this hotel
Horrible service. You expect the hotel to be one thing by the photos and you get something else in reality.
Beautiful, small hotel. The staff was great and very helpful. The only thing that was a bit annoying was a club down the street that was very loud. It wasn’t really a big problem because the quality windows were really effective and we didn’t need them open at night. We really enjoyed our stay.
Great place to stay in Quito
A major issue in Quito is that you either have super cheap bad hotels or overpriced brand hotels. Vieja Cuba is a rare middle of the market hotel that offers the conveniences of a brand name hotel at super affordable prices. To boot, you get much more personal service from check in to breakfast!
good breakfast, nice and friendly staff, close to shopping, restaurants, downtown.
This property is a historic hacienda that was probably built over 200 years ago, then changed and modernized into a hotel. The plumbing and water pressure were great, rooms were nice and comfortable. The architecture was stunning with heavy wood doors and exposed wood beams. There was a gate for security. We were given free parking inside the gate for our rental car also.
Such a unique and beautiful room! The staff was incredibly friendly and the breakfast was amazing.
Clean room, nice staff, great breakfast
Very clean rooms. Great breakfast. Really nice staff. Will keep your bags for the day you check out, which is great for travelers. Noise travels between rooms and rooms can be a bit chilly at night.
This was our second tone in this property in 5 months and they did no disappointed us. They gave us a first floor room which was nice so we did not have to move luggage’s upstairs. The most interesting thing this time was when the reception person (a man I forgot his name who was there Monday morning on Sep 23rd helped us find out which health center administered yellow fever vaccine and issued an international certificate. He went above and beyond to help and asked on our return how did it go so he can inform future guests. All in all, great location, breakfast, and services.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
This is a well located and very nice place. The staff is also very friendly
I never think it mutches the price in that country
My stay in Vieja Cuba was excellent. Clean, safe, quiet, accessible to anything you might need while traveling abroad. it would be great if you could have nice toiletries but obviously not necessary
If it wasn't for great people working there, i would rate this hotel much lower. My double room was so small that i felt claustrophobic. In addition they had WiFi problem in my room. To my surprise, after trying to fix WiFi, they gave me another room! Which was a lot better and more comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Prime location with expensive restaurants and even taxi stopped in this neighborhood ask double the usual price. Kinda far from city center.
Place is very clean, staff friendly. No AC but rooms are pretty warm even if windows are left open. Breakfast delicious.
Everything was nice except the location of the room. The location of room 17–which we had—is quite poor. It’s noisy, and it’s open to the full view of anyone and everyone who walks by, so we had to keep the shades of our room completely drawn.
Great location, great character, clean and comfortable.
Lovely place, friendly and helpful staff (breakfast and breakfast lady exceptionally good). Only downside was poor lighting in bedroom (it would seem that this is a problem with hotels everywhere - are they trying to save on electricity consumption?)
The hotel is very close to public transport, restaurants and a supermarket is just round the corner. We were able to buy papayas to eat every day and the hotel stored the fruit for us in their fridge.
Very informative receptionist. Relatively good positioned hotel in the central Quito
The hotel staff is so helpful and friendly! They go out of their way to work with you, and the hotel could not be cuter! It can get a little noisy on Friday nights because of loud music in the area, but generally the rooms are comfortable and very sweet.
Very quaint, clean hotel. Rooms were very nice with different shapes and sizes! Within walking distance to many restaurants.
Beautiful old building, very well kept! Staff were extremely helpful, good breakfast.
This hotel is clean in and out, staff are very helpful when I had problem coz I lost my phone. The breakfast is substantial. The location is 5 minutes walk to Plaza Fochs.. I recommend it and I will stay there again. The place has a unique homey ambience to it💞👍
Beautiful property close to restaurants and stores.
it is a quirky old house with rooms tucked into all these lovely corners. rooms are super comfy, nice beds, very clean. the staff is superb... they go out of the way to make you feel welcome. nice garden area for sitting, good area with restaurants and shops.
We loved Hotel Vieja Cuba. They were so responsive to all our questions prior to our stay and wonderful once we got there at three in the morning. The room was neat and tidy, plenty of hot water and clean towels. The staff was very friendly and helpful about what to see and where to eat. The breakfast was fabulous!!! This is really a charming facility and I would recommend it to anyone that wants a genuine Quito experience.
coffee great. breakfast wonderful. good location. friendly helpful staff
Charming boutique hotel with lots of character in the Mariscal neighbourhood. Staff was fantastic. Great choice if you're looking for hotel close to everything but not right in the middle of everything.
Loved this property. Spotlessly clean, very well located, and very spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again
Nice, intimate atmosphere. Personable.............................................................................
Vieja Cuba hotel is an excellent choice while in Quito, it is in a safe neighborhood, the staff is helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent , cannot do much better, i am going back there to catch my return flight.
Room is smaller than it appeared on the photo. The shower is a little bit hard to use.
Wonderful Hotel!
This hotel is wonderful. It's located in a very good part of Quito and there are plenty of restaurants around, as well as other things to do. The staff is truly special, in particular Jose Luis (Frontdesk) as well as Mary (breakfast café area). They will make your stay an extremely pleasant one and always have a smile on their face. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again when I return to Quito, Ecuador :)
Very quaint room, friendly people, beds are firm. Must be able to climb narrow stairs w bags.
The staff here have bent over. backwards to make my experience enjoyable. Couldn’t be better.
An amazing hotel!
we arrived into Quito very late at night, and missing my suitcase. This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We loved the room, very comfortable, clean with a lovely washroom. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hotel has a great location, very close to restaurants, and easy to get downtown to the old section of town. The staff were hugely helpful. They helped to contact the airline and negotiate the delivery of my suitcase. They gave wonderful directions, called cabs for us, and were overall very, very friendly and helpful. I can not reccomend this hotel highly enough.
The Vieja Cuba Hotel was a gem in the busy city. It was located close to good restaurants, shops, and had easy access to transportation. The rooms were adorable and the staff was more than accommodating. The only issue we had during our stay was that it was rather noisy. The walls are thin and so we could hear others move around within the hotel. We could also hear all the excitement out on the street. There was a dog nearby that must have barked one night for 2 hours straight. My suggestion is asking for a room that is more tucked back in the hotel. Would definitely stay here again, though.
Well located with in the city of Quito. Staff extremely helpful. Very nice included breakfast. Staff very attentive to us.
Charming traditional architecture--much more beautiful and interesting than modern hotel designs. The staff were very hospitable, letting us park our motorcycles inside the locked courtyard, and giving us breakfast to go when we had to checkout at 3 AM.
This hotel will make you feel home away from home. Not your typical, sterile hotel experience. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Desk in bilingual. Very fair price per night, including breakfast. Rooms are decorated in a manner that makes you feel more as a guest than an occupant. Hotel restaurant makes a very good, reasonably priced dinner. Located very close to Plaza Foch if you are looking for exceptional nightlife. Hotel can help you arrange almost any excursion in Ecuador, but be advised you should plan ahead as many excursions only run on certain days of the week. If nothing else, do the Cotopaxi excursion and take your hiking boots. Take a cab to Teleferico for an amazing view of Volcano Valley and the city. You can hike up to the top of Pinchinca from the upper terminus of the cable car.
Clean, quiet, restaurant closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Some staff nice, some are not especially helpful.
A great place to stay; could use some soundproofing. I would stay there again!
Great stay!
Very cute hotel! Pretty quiet neighborhood but very close to restaurants and pubs. The room had a fan/heater which was great! Breakfast was also very good.
Great
It was great as usual. It is our second time and we just love the hotel and stuff are so friendly.
Cuba
Little noisy, doors slamming. Other that that great place to stay. Great staff. WiFi ok. Limited parking. Great breakfast.
Restaurant is not 24 hour service
Not iron board service
Close to everything.
Nice service, clean rooms, friendly staff, excelent breakfast and close to restaurants and entertainment.
Love Ecuador
Friendly staff very god breakfast Close to stores and Quito colonial
Extremely Cozy Hotel
We stayed here during our last night in Ecuador, and after checking in we were dismayed we were only staying a few short hours. The interior is incredibly charming, and the room was clean and comfortable. We had to leave hours before breakfast started the next morning, but the receptionist made us a quick breakfast anyway. It was a quiet hotel in a convenient location to a lot of walkable places.
Great location. Close to restaurants and market.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The breakfast was very nice - fresh fruit, toast, eggs how you wanted them, yogurt, coffee, ham, cheese, etc. It was also in walking distance of commercial areas and parks and even MacDonald's and Burger King. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Beautiful hotel
The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The staff were very friendly and our room was made up and the towels replaced daily. It's a bit old-school. There's no AC or heating, but we went in May and the weather is cool enough that it wasn't necessary. The blankets were warm enough. The breakfast was very filling but pretty much the same thing everyday. Our room had a balcony and had an amazing view of the mountain. The only thing I would want is ventilation in the bathroom. We would have to open the window in order to vent the bathroom.
Cute hotel with great staff.
Cute hotel with a "home" atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Room was very small, and while we book a room with a queen sized bed, we ended up with a room with a double bed, and a small single bed. Not much room to walk around in, but very clean and neat. Bathroom did not have a fan, so a shower steamed up the whole room. Was unable to block out the streetlamp that streamed in through the round window located up high in the wall. Beds were very hard. Otherwise, a nice, quaint hotel, with friendly staff, and located where you can walk to many of the restaurants, bars, and entertainment in the La Mariscal district.
Very helpful staff, great location, super clean but small room. Quito gem
Beds were uncomfortable.
Very cute motif. Loved the Cuba atmosphere . It was very comfortable in the lobby. The dining area was set up very well. Wait staff very friendly.
Charming little hotel, great staff and breakfast
This is a lovely little hotel with lots of charm in its cheerful colors and beautiful gardens, quiet despite the central location at the top of the new city in Quito. The rooms and bathrooms are small but very tidy and comfortable. We liked being able to find great places to eat within easy walking distance. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
Ambiance with a Plus
From the comfort of the beds, cleanliness of the room and the fabulous breakfast staff, our stay here was excellent. The front desk staff was able to help with book of taxis and tours. They small issue we had with the room was taken care of promptly. Good proximity to restaurants and nightlife if that is your thing. Outdoor space a plus. Will stay here again on our returns to Quito.
Very relaxing
Nice hotel close to everything
High recommend Nice hotel Very nice staff Good breakfast
Would recommend
Clean, secure hotel in a nice neighborhood. Various restaurants within easy walking distance. Excellent breakfast. Our staff was very helpful.
Lovely small hotel in safe area
Wonderful hotel with delicious breakfast. Staff were very attentive and genuinely friendly Small roomsbut adequate for our needs
close to very exciting salt minings
well positioned in Bogota city, close to shopping, restaurants and air port, clean small hotel with good staff
Charming place with wonderful staff. I felt very taken care of and comfortable!!!
The hotel is very nice and most of the staff speak English and are helpful with directions and making arrangements for taxis, etc. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean and functional. The only suggestion I have for the owners is to add some hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang clothes and perhaps another towel rack. Because this hotel seems to cater to tourists, there were people coming and going late at night and early in the morning so I suggest wearing earplugs to sleep.
Clean charming and convient hotel.
Good location by restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff.
clean and noisy hotel
The service and cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding. The decor was amazing and the gardens were well kept and gave the hotel a unique atmosphere. The breakfast was very good except for the bitter bad coffee. I have to say the beds were not comfortable, the pillows were horrible, and the soundproofing was non existent. Each night there were several car alarms going off and you could hear toilets flushing in the room next door as well as voices in the hall.
Staff was amazing , hotel was more of a bed and breakfast but it was beautiful . Decorated very typical Ecuador style and very comfortable . Everything was beautiful and I would defiantly stay again !
Stayed 3 nights as a DN. Great breakfast, super Wi-Fi. Only questionable thing was maybe the sound isolation. All in all would highly recommend. Really good value.
Hotel that makes you feel at home
This hotel exceeded all of our expectations! The hotel makes you feel at home. Everyday there are workers painting, gardening, cleaning, always doing something to upkeep the hotel. The staff are all eager to help. One lady at the receptionist, named Daniella, was a true blessing to the place. Very helpful and insightful. Helped us figure stuff to do around the city, told us what areas to stay away from at certain times. She also put us in contact with a local taxi driver named Don Julio that took us around at fair fares. The area around the hotel was safe and clean. Plenty of local hole in the walls with great food and great prices. When I return to quito in the future I WILL RETURN to the great hotel and awesome staff. Highly recommended!!! I stayed 8-22/8-25 and stayed in room 4
What a quaint hotel!
This hotel was very quaint. If you are expecting a typical hotel, this is not it. This is a large house that has converted into a hotel. My room was a triple - three twin beds with wooden ceiling beams. The bathroom was small - only a shower but the staff at the hotel was very friendly. There are no elevators and our room was on the second floor. Breakfast was simple and the server took your order daily (homemade Ecuadorian juices, cereal, fruit, eggs, toast, yogurt and granola.) The hotel provided free parking. The staff has to open the gates to let you park on their property. There is also no ceiling fans or air conditioning - just windows that open. At night the temperature dropped so the rooms were comfortable. Overall it Was a great stay for the amount of money per night. It was nearby restaurants and clubs.
A very nice place to stay while in Quito
I stayed in this beautiful hotel for 8 days 7 nights, it a very nice clean and friendly place, everyone that works there is genuinely nice and willing to make your stay comfortable, the place is clean and well decorated with Ecuadorian taste, it is close to many restaurants and Supermaxi supermarket, all within a walking distance, taxis are easy to find outside the hotel. The only thing that I did not like was the noise outside, car alarms, construction work and so on, and with the weather in Quito being nice and windows open at night that can be a bit of annoyance, other than that it a very nice experience.

Safe, solid mid tier hotel option in good location
Hotel was great for the price, good breakfast, water bottle fill up station. Staff was super helpful and available at all hours. Location was close to metro station so could easily get to historic city center. the minor inconveniences were that the bathroom has no fan and in February the humidity made the bathroom perpetually wet.
