Great Location!

The V&A Hotel has the best location on the Cape Town waterfront. It is renowned for its service. We stayed in a flloor 1 room. It was spacious and clean, but is looking a little tired compar3d to the loft room we stayed on a prior visit. The air condioning was very noisy, but we got used to it. Unfortunately on one day there was no hot water (the maintenance team were working in the closed down the hall so I assume it was related to that work?). Breakfast on the quayside is great, with the view of the mountain and the seals playing in the dock. We ate dinner once during our stay and I enjoyed the finest seafood curry I've eaten in a long time.

Sooo convenient with shops and dining. Also close to main pickup/dropoff areas for taking boat or shuttles. Only missing is the pool - had to go across the street to use someone else's.

Overnight stay

Great overnight stay, breakfast was great, the room was huge and very comfortable and the staff were very efficient. The hotel is in V&A waterfront and has a lot of amenities on it's doorstep.

Disappointing

Location 5/5 if you want the waterfront. Service 2/5, front desk not helpful refused to do the complimentary upgrade for Expedia gold, even if I showed she had availability for my dates! Also housekeeping knocks on door to come in at 8am!!!. Rooms 2/5 run down motel level doors that done not close properly, is this safe? And bathroom old. Sad for so high a price they can do better.

Awesome location. Very safe, walking distance to fun shops, bars, restaurants.

Staff broke into my room when I was not inside stole my valuables. Targeted very hidden areas searching for certain items and the management just gave me lip service. In addition my first night the air conditioning didn’t work. I slept in a sweat box. They didn’t move me or offer me any compensation and the next day they gave me a different room…that was it didn’t even buy me a free drink for myterrible evening. Absolutely do not leave anything in your room. If you leave it you wouldn’t expect this from such an allegedly high calibre hotel. Terrible experience. Absolutely do not leave anything in your room.

The location was perfect. Great to walk around. The room was very nice and the staff was excellent.

I picked this property for the location and while that didn't disappoint, everything else did. There is nothing luxurious about this property. the lobby might give you a sense of security but don't fall for it. The room is reminiscent of someone turning their attic into an Airbnb. The door to the room (on the inside) was so dirty and the carpet was worse. Most of the outlets were away from the bed. and we were provided 2 very small bottles of water. The massive tub in the bathroom did not really appeal to me but the mold in the shower definitely inspired some nightmares. We ended up asking for a room change since the original one faced the front of the hotel and it was very noisy. While the new room (on the same floor) was mountain facing and way quieter, it still have the exact same issues. The decor was exactly the same. the level of cleanliness’s was exactly the same. Moldy shower, fixture’s that we barely hanging on... I would definitively NOT recommend a stay here. Uber's are easy in Cape town so find better accommodations.

Great location

Great stay in Cape Town! Tons of shopping, restaurants and attractions in walking distance and easy to grab Uber/taxi to get any where else. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a gorgeous Mountain View.

Average to good hotel

Nice hotel, conveniently situated on the waterfront, very safe location. Hotel overpriced, and the plaza room was more expensive than waterfront or Mountain View rooms, but definitely not as nice.

Great location right on the waterfront with plenty of restaurant options. Also very close to attractions do a perfect place to stay and enjoy everything Cape Town has to offer. Great staff and reasonable cost given the location. Rooms are large and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

It's a lovely upper level hotel with very helpful, friendly staff and a nice restaurant offering food choices all day. Have on site staff to assist with booking tours. Great location at the V&A waterfront, walking to many outstanding restaurants, shops etc.

Excellent Hotel right in central Capetown wharf. Lots of fabulous restaurants located within minutes. Very luxurious and the staff were great. Luci at the Hotel’s concierge desk was fantastic as were Douglas, the front desk staff and the Assistant Manager during the day.

Great place

We absolutely love this hotel and stay here whenever we are in Cape Town. The location is perfect and views of the harbor and Table Mountain stunning. Food and staff are also wonderful. We highly recommend this hotel and definitely will be back.

I stayed there several days two weeks previous. I had a small issue. I was tired suffering jet lag after a 33 hr flight. I complained here on Expedia in frustration. The following day the manager came to my table and was extraordinary. I could not believe it. Issue completely resolved. I was almost embarrassed I brought it up he gave me such complete attention.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer

After 50 + days at sea it was a treat to sleep in such a comfortable bed in a spacious room. Great location right in the middle of the V&A Waterfront. Lovely views. Friendly helpful staff. Valet parking and beautiful little boutiques adjacent to the lobby.

This is the second year in a row staying here. We love the hotel and especially the staff. They are really nice, kind and helpful people. Thank you!

Must stay hotel in Cape Town

What a great place to stay! Can’t fault anything. Great location, really friendly staff in all depts. There was an issue with some water maintenance outside the hotel which overran and meant there was no running water in the morning (obviously not the hotels fault!) but we were impressed by how visible and forthcoming the manager was in dealing with this. Would 100% recommend staying here.

Early check in was accommodated. Room was huge & comfortable. Our room was noisy due to music & building work right outside but timings of the noise were fine. Not unsocial timing. Amazing staff in the restaurant & bar. Great location on the waterfront. Wonderful views & service great on terrace.

Can't beat the location

Stunning hotel and room. Can’t beat the location. Great housekeeping. Great coffee shop attached to hotel. 2 main issues which is why I’m not able to give 5/5. When booking our stay, it stated the hotel had a pool, gym and numerous other facilities that actually were in the sister hotel across the road. Nowhere on this site did it mention that they were part of the other hotel. Secondly, and more annoyingly, we only went to use the pool once for a couple of hours and turned up and there were only about 12 beds, 2 of which were “reserved” but empty the whole time we were there. There is however loads of space for additional beds. I can’t see how 12 beds would ever be enough for a pool that is used by 2 hotels (or maybe 3 as I’ve read there’s another sister hotel). We had to have a quick dip and head home as no beds became available.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property and we enjoyed staying here once again. It is in a very convenient spot for the V&A Waterfront with everything on your doorstep. We had to leave some baggage there and the concierge remembered me when I returned a week later and was very helpful on arrival. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the refurbished room clean and well equipped. Would recommend if you want a convenient location for sightseeing around Capetown.

Great !

I had a view of Table Mountain from my room, I think it’s either that or the harbour. The breakfast was good with views of the harbour, although eating outside could be an issue with the seagulls. The staff were excellent and knew the area well.

Dreadful, no upgrade or amenities and the stench of rotten drains makes you heave when you go in the room!

A wonderful stay here for our honeymoon. We were truly spoiled by staff! Breakfast was beautiful, the room was divine and the hotel is in a gorgeous, lively and central area of Cape Town.

No air conditioning in my room, they came 7 times to fix it but were unable to resolve the problem. No apology. Some front desk staff were very nice while others were hostile.

I am a repeat visitor due to the style of the hotel, it’s location and the staff friendliness. Same staff at the hotel for many years which says so much about how they are treated. Best breakfast location next to the harbour too with a Mountain View 😀

Capetown Waterfront is a must see and staying at the Victoria and Albert Hotel lets you be part of the action in the waterfront area. Hotel restaurant is great. Staff are professional and very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Having to wait in the corridor for your room to be cleaned after you have checked in . You pay a lot for this hotel . 2pm check in ! your room should be ready .

Perfect location, reception staff are beautiful and friendly. The staff at the restaurant need to improve their level of service, as too many times you sit and wait for someone to take your order and you can see the wait staff standing around chatting to one another but the moment management is around, the wait staff are very attentive but once management leaves it goes back to, you the customer, being ignored and they accept a decent tip without decent service.

Excellent hotel centrally located in the middle of V&A Waterfront. Didn't have drive anywhere for food and entertainment. Everything is walking distance.

V & A Waterfront hotel

The hotel location is excellent on the V&A waterfront. The restaurant looked out on the water with sea lions frolicking as we had breakfast. The staff were very helpful and we engaged the hotel chauffer service to tour around Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Bay, Cape Point etc. The downside - we had a few issues with infrastructure - no hot water - faulty wiring. This was however rectified but disappointing none the less. The room was poorly lit with no central lights. The swimming pool was closed which was disappointing. The breakfast and dinner were good value. There were some nice shops in the hotel mall and for those not wanting breakfast in hotel a coffee shop and bakery.

We have now stayed at the hotel 4 times over the last ten years and have never been disappointed. The changes since COVID (luckily we missed the rebuild of areas inside and outside the hotel) are excellent We can never find a fault

Keys kept not working and staff were useless.

Third time at the hotel and its location and surrounding views still provide great quality. The room I was given was a corner room and had amazing views, however it was right next to a door that the Housekeeping staff used to move around. The staff using this were often very noisy which was all heard in my room. Breakfast is good. Housekeeping is a little erratic. Sometimes drinking water would be left in your room, sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes the bathroom amenities would be refreshed, sometimes they wouldn't. In general great place and recommended.

The staff at this hotel make is a hotel that you always look for first. Location is perfect too.

I really loved Victoria and Albert! The staff was too-notch from front desk staff to the housekeeping staff ! I enjoyed having breakfast outside by the waterfront! The location of the hotel was easily accessible to meet all our needs of tourism and shopping! I felt completely safe with the presence of police on the streets and around the shopping areas! The room was clean and comfortable and attended to twice a day!

Amazing hotel in an amazing location - But sour taste left by our experience sorting airport transfer. The photos don't do the place justice. Great rooms and stunning views. Staff all friendly and couldn't fault our night here. During our stay we booked an airport transfer from reception, we asked how much this was and informed it was max R400 and we pay cash to driver. During check-out the transfer was late so a member of staff drove us in the hotel car instead. However when we arrived at the airport we were asked to pay R900. We didn't have this cash, we had taken out R700 (for taxi and airport spends). The driver said it's ok they will take what we have, leaving us with no cash. This left a sour taste of our experience with the hotel, and I'd recommend people just use Uber to get back to the airport (at around R300).

Would definitely stay there again. The staff felt like family when we left. Wonderful stay. Loved it.

Pleasant stay at the V&A - Building work is noisy

Great location for a very pleasant stay at the V&A in Cape Town. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help. However it would have been good to know that major building works are being undertaken and start at 8am each day with some considerable amount of noise.
