The reception wasn’t very organized. They couldn’t find our reservation with our names. The rooms are on the smaller side and they do not have a window facing the outside, only opened to a thin space that’s inside the building and we can see into the room next door. The insulation was not good, we could hear music from outside and people in the hallway. The water in the shower could not get warm, and the facet on the sink was either really dirty or permanently stained. We asked for a second pillow each and received pillows without linen. There were dirty tissues in the tissue box. Would not recommend this hotel.
This was the worst five star hotel I've ever been to. It felt more like a 2 star hotel. The lobby was really small and there's no gym. There were so many issues with the hotel: The hallway/room smelled moldy and looked old. There were stains on the bed and on the door. When we turned on the AC, a strong smell came out of it. The toilet didn't flush. We called the staff repeatedly and asked if they could fix it. They never showed up until we came downstairs to meet them. We found that the staff was folding napkins the whole time. He tried to fix the toilet by adding water from the bidet. The toilet then worked but the bidet started leaking like crazy. We asked if we could get a refund and was told that's not possible and they would try to repair the bidet for us. We then asked if they could put us in a different room. They said if we didn't like the new room they sent us, we would have to stick with the one on the 9th floor.. Meanwhile, as we were waiting for a new room, a guest came downstairs and said their room on the 8th floor had a clogged sink. The staff gave us another room that was better but then more issues occurred. We woke up to a fire alarm blasting at 7 am and everyone had to get out of their rooms and go downstairs. The staff couldn't figure out how to turn it off and we were stuck down there for some time. The electricity was out and continued to be out for the next three hours. We had to pack and check out in the dark. Imagine carrying a lot of luggage down..
Too bad. Don't stay there.
Not a 5star property, 3 star at best.
It's fine.
The location is great. the rooms were small and the bathrooms even smaller. the beds were hard and the pillow (singular) that they give you is terrible. the staff was decently friendly. But really, you stay here for the location.
Not worth. The hotel stated it is 6 star? A joke. I reckon be 3 or 3.5 start
Trust, book & enjoy all over Vietnam, except here!
I suspect trouble with the Hotel.com algorithm since not only does the Victor Metropolis appears as a five star hotel on their website, but also has many questionable stelar reviews to go with those stars. My biggest problem with this establishment boils down to plain deceit. This is a very well situated 2-3 star/ $60-$80/ night hotel. I would've had no problem with it at all. But instead, here is the blatant deceit: claiming 5 stars it charged me $400/ night. Among many other disturbing pearls they surprised me with an extra charge for their pricey and obligatory (!) New Year's Dinner Celebration and a 3% surcharge for credit card payment. After having a magnificent time on our family vacation in Vietnam and spending much less at every 5 star hotel we went (kindest people, amazing customer service, over the top facilities), we were very disappointed to land at this establishment. It was painfully understaffed, with a sadly austere buffet breakfast, one single tiny, beat-up,and overcrowded elevator, a WiFi connection that worked only sometimes and a bunch of never ending details constantly pointing to the fact that this is a "pig with make-up" type C hotel playing a deceiving on-line roll, fishing for unsuspecting tourists! (fire-place?, no!, sound-proof?, no!, gym?, "temporarily" closed?). I'm ashamed to admit that I stayed here. But I feel it is my duty to tell you: Don't skip the country (you would regret it) but be sure to skip the Victor Metropolis Hotel.
Very hard to contact the hotel staff; they only communicate close to arrival. Hallways of both Victor Metropolis and Victor Gallery are filled with hotel supplies; the bathroom drainage was a problem; the safe didn’t work; breakfast coffee/tea was cold. This was part of a group of bookings made 6 weeks in advance (some made directly on hotel website – not recommended, we were charged twice and are disputing). Just a few days before arrival, we were emailed that a mandatory $64/person New Year’s Eve dinner would be charged whether we attend or not. Wasn’t posted on website, and past date to cancel. We were also put up at the sister hotel, Gallery, where some of our bed requests couldn’t be met, and the rooms were much smaller than the Metropolis, where we had reserved. Despite receiving our entrée orders for the NYE dinner at least 3 hours in advance, when we arrived, fish and vegetarian options were gone and only beef was left. When asked what the vegetarians would eat, we were told salad. $64 for salad?!? They came up with 3 subpar vegetarian meals (actually, all the meals were subpar), and I had to ask them to comp us champagne for our disappointment; we were given 1 bottle of prosecco for our group of 16. We have only stayed in 5-star hotels on this trip. Victor hotels are so poorly managed that we feel cheated. Would not stay here had we known, and do not recommend this place.

Nice location, poor cleaning. Early in the morning there was no hot water for shower. We were upgraded but on the last day asked to change room because they had done some mistake obviously. We refused to get into that.
AVOID THIS PLACE TRAVELLERS!!!! We arrived in Hanoi on the 30th of December and when we wanted to check in, we were asked by the receptionist to pay extra $120 for the NYE dinner which we refused to do so and she kept saying it is mandatory and we need to pay and she started shouting at us and being extremely rude. We attended the dinner on the NYE which it was supposed to be a 5 course dinner but we only got 4 and it was TERRIBLE, we had to leave to find a place to eat. They are also advertising the rooms with gym but there’s no gym and one receptionist said they closed it and another one said it’s in renovations. When we checked out, we had a list of complaint to mention and the receptionist was listening to us and once the phone rang, her manager told her to pick up the phone whilst we were standing there and explain y our frustrations, he then became extremely rude and told us to get out. We’ve never experienced anything like this before and we both travelled quite a bit around the world but this is definitely the worst place we’ve stayed in. The only positive fact about this hotel is the location. Please save your money and stay else where, there are many other hotels around here.
Fake! SCAM! Disgusting!
Scammer, fake, disgusting, not a real hotel! Hotels.com has not taken down after many people has reported this including us, through phone calls and messages. Typical open and shut scam. We paid 500USD per night after the scamming extra hidden fees! Twice as much as a real 5 star at intercontinental which we moved to half way through the unbearable stay. Zero control by Hotels.com other than ‘we will contact the fake hotel’. Fake photos of a gym that doesn’t exist!
Staff was uncooperative handling reservation issues!
TRAVELERS BEWARE!!!!
TRAVELERS BEWARE!!! This hotel is not exactly how it was advertised, nothing like the pictures. The rooms are disguising and dirty. Flies were all over breakfast; down to the breads, food, etc. I upgrade my room to upper floor with balcony; Even the balcony is filthy, seems like no one dust nor sweep. The front desk girl hustles and chargers everything even tho I already paid through Hotels.com. DON’T RECOMMEND this place to anyone except if you want the convenience of location and don’t mind the dust and insects in your food. The food is NOT great, just eat outside hotel is your best bet. The hallway appears to be a storage for the housekeeper. Towels, cleaning products all over the tiny hallway. You cannot seem to move with the tiny walking space. If you like living in a hostel environment, this is the hotel for that. NOTHING LUXURIOUS about this hotel. DON’T recommend staying here for the money. There’s so many hotel better than this old, dirty hotel. By the time you check out, the front desk girl (host) will charge you for everything, down to the key cards. What hotel chargers for key cards?!?! Please book elsewhere.
The room smelt and we asked to move. A little long winded but we got there in the end!
The property is at the heart of old quarter of Hanoi city which was the best thing, plenty of shopping and eating places nearby. However, the room was a but small and the lights were very dim in the room which was problematic. The staff were friendly and the checkin was smooth. Overall a nice stay at a good location.
The bathroom set up is awkward with a window to the outside down a shallow space that is very difficult to get down to close —resulting in the workd being ablevto see you shower. Not that you would want to shower as it was super cold water at all times of the day and the walls and mirrows were not super clean. The room is sml. The breakfast would have been okay gad it not been for the staff who blasted their phones super loud while we were having our breakfast first thing in the morning. Super rude. Clearly not working is one thing but making the whole environment super loud and uncomfortable with their loud phones is another thing entirely. I stayed at other hotels within 6 blocks for cheaper, much better accomodation and customer service. The rooftop lounge is a filthy mess…broken machinery lying around and everything completely dirty with chairs piled up. The lighting is poor in the steps you need to take to get up there and I missed a stair on way back down and am lucky I caught myself as I was falling. The room lighting was terrible in the bathroom. And super loud outdoor noises in the mornings as I think there must be a school nearby. Not recommended…especially as they said they just upgraded….
Great location, in the middle of old town with easy access to everything! But this comes with a price as it becomes very noisy from the lively area around the hotel . My room had street view on the front and I would prefer the less attractive at the back The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and I just can’t thank them enough for making my holiday The buffet breakfast was more than enough with plenty of varieties and fried eggs as requested
DON’T STAY HERE. HORRIBLE HOTEL
No hot water after 12pm, very weak water pressure. We had to boil hot water to shower but the tub won’t even hold the water in. They locked the gate after 1AM. There is NO GYM. Definitely not a 5-star hotel. Advertised Double bed doesn’t exist, they are 2 twins put together. We had to pay extra $330 to upgrade for an actual King sized bed.
A good hotel in the middle of the old city. We had a very small room, which was my fault as I should have checked before booking. This was a challenge with several bags each on a 3 month travel programme! Staff very friendly.
Bad experience
We didn’t stay. The hotel was dirty, old and small. It’s scam for 5 stars, it worth for 2 stars only. And hotel.com , Expedia should remove them from black list otherwise I don’t trust Hotel.com and Expedia anymore They paid people to give them 5 stars reviews 😡😡😡😡
Please delete Victor Metropolis out of your website. Don’t make other people loose the money and walk out very MAD 😡 This hotel shouldn’t list 5 stars, it worth only 2 stars. The MANAGER MAKES workers convinced the customers give them 5 stars and they must have paid for good reviews. NO WAY it’s 5 stars. Please read all bad reviews and this hotel . VERY VERY BAD
Breakfast was covered with fruit flies and stale
Adequate
Stay Away! Scam Alert!
Property is a big scam. They claim to be 5 star hotel on Hotels.com but there is nothing 5-star about this hotel. They are extremely overpriced for the condition and quality of the hotel. The rooms are dated and poorly kept. It was dirty and cramped. The staff is dishonest and stole my wedding ring out of the room. When I asked them about it they blamed me for losing it.
good
I liked my stay overall. The staff was always nice and helpful. The bath tub is tiny for me (6 ft tall). Also the shower controls don't work well. Water barely comes out the shower. The faucet part doesn't aim into the tub. Also the drain didn't work properly. I felt the bathroom could be cleaner as well. I didnt use the restaurant, spa or roof bar.
Rooms are too small. Shower acces is very difficult. Breakfast is good
Put in a room with very strong paint fumes.Complained moved to another room.Things nissing.2 out of 3 breakfasts terrible with no clean plates cutlery fruit coffee water .This occured ad large groups had been at breakfast prior to us.Asked for pan cakes refused to make them then agreed but took 20 mins to arrive.
Ok
Started off poorly as the car did not arrive to pick me up at the airport as agreed. On arrival at the hotel they seemed to have no idea I was arriving. Construction underway on the 4th floor was a surprise. No wifi in the room made for a difficult start. Breakfast was good though. And the room itself was as expected.
This hotel was awful, completely not what the photos suggested, massively misleading and absolute rip off. There was no gym even though it was advertised. We heard other people complaining as well as us. I feel sorry for the staff who have to listen to people’s complaints. The management is poor and they should be more considerate to their staff
Modern bathroom- great! Room very clean. Amazing location. Breakfast very good.
I was booked for 5 nights based solely on the pics of a pretty nice looking gym facility. When I arrived I asked what floor the gym was on, which confused the staff because there is in fact NO GYM. Expedia tried to get the hotel to issue a refund based on their fraudulent listing, however the manager denied the request. Expedia took steps to make me whole, but it was a process that took far too long and went through several departments. Bottom line, as long as you aren’t worried about the gym the place is fine. I just hate being misled and then treated poorly for calling it out.
bẩn thỉu, quản lý kém.
Absolutely NOT a 5 star or luxury property.
The hotel is located in a nice area, with EXTREMELY kind and accommodating staff but definitely not as advertised online. There is no gym, the propriety is old and run down and not clean.
This hotel has no gym at all Pricey laundry service Nothing like described or pictured on line False advertisement Staff was helpful and friendly Convenient location Hotel itself need. A lot of updating This hotel in 3 stars category not 5
Good and bad
Good location to explore Hanoi old town. Service was great, specially Ly anh Ha. But rooms are not good as advertised, the shower does not have curtains, so the water will be all over the bathroom. We also bought the tour with the hotel tour agent. She said the price we paid cover all the tickets and services on the tour but during the tour we’ve asked to paid 200k vnd more, kind of disappointed to the hotel tour agent.
It's very near to the city center. The staff are nice. Our room is surprisingly more spacious than expected. We love it and decided to extend our stay.
The hotel is over rated and I found it within the average, small rooms, no lobby, little restaurant, no parking area and no swimming pool. Also, I send messages to the hotel but no one is responding back till I checked out
A decent hotel in the Old Quarter within close proximity to tailors-shoe shops/ counterfeit merchandise shopping/ restaurants/ spas etc. Great staff who were super helpful. Arranged taxi pick up from Airport ( USD 18-20). They stored our bags for which we were wry grateful for. Especially if you are staying here check out King Roti for some amazing flavour filled buns!
Amazing place and location
Amazing hotel and central to everything we wanted to see and do whilst in Hanoi
Very convenient location in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Very helpful staff especially Ruby at the front desk. Reasonable breakfast option. Room was comfortable though the 2 double beds were off different comfort levels
Location was excellent. Minutes walk to coffee places, restaurants and shopping. Hotel is facing the main road but the room was quiet allowing for a good night's rest. Bathroom however needs improvement especially no shower curtain so the bathroom gets totally wet each time someone takes a shower. Staff were very helpful with enquires and all were quite fluent in English.
Great location in the Old Quarter & amazing staff.
Amazing staff very helpful and friendly too. Ruby in reception was very nice and polite and so were the other receptionists too. Very informative and welcoming. Clean hotel and Great location in the Old Quarter. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Convenient. Very helpful staff!!!
Bad service, hotel was run down
We loved this hotel.

We had wonderful trip. Very great!!
Friendly hotel
Great location at the heart of the the old quarter. Rooms were adequate, given the price and location but I’ve stayed at many 4* hotels before and I’m not convinced that it is today. Staff were really good, they answered all of my questions regarding, gave me tips on what to do around Hanoi, gave prompt responses, and made sure a I was picked up from the airport even though my flight was delayed by 24 hours!
It is old , it’s not very clean it is not a four and half star hotel, it’s misleading. I changed hotel after one day stay. I tried to upgrade but cost is too much for not much improvement so I booked a true four star hotel and moved there and took the loss
Air conditioners didn't work. Room was so hot and had some smell
The room had some bad smell

Location location
We stayed with a group of friends and the hotel has an excellent location it’s close to everything. The staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel has a great location close to many restaurants and shops. We will stay there again.
