Enjoyable stay, in a great location. However the room was very small, wouldn't recommend if you're travelling with large cases.

Stay in Sydney city. Hotel was super convenient, clean, modern and staff especially Karl super helpful. Will stay here for future visits.

Good location good value

Very comfortable beds, clean and decent rooms but very bright lights from the traffic lights on the road so blackout blinds would be advisable.

Loved staying at this property, despite being in the middle of the city it was a quiet stay. The micro double was perfect for a single guest .

The “King size” bed was a double bed and a single bed pushed together. No space to hang clothes and a bit cramped for 2 people. The shower has only an overhead outlet, shower cap required if you don’t want wet hair. However everything was clean and tidy we got a good night’s sleep and the location was perfect for us.

Comfy bed, clean and tidy, staff were helpful. Good location for the northern end of the City but too far from where I needed to be so not that convenient for this particular trip. Short flight of stairs between the lift and walking to the room was ok for me but would be challenging for people with greater accessibility needs.

Property is bit run down, very tiny room not as good as described. My room was at dead end of the floor caused the poor internet connection. Staffs are nice and helpful. I won’t come to this hotel again or recommend to my friend.

The room that i stayed in (101) was great as i was only staying the night and it had everything i needed. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it had a LOT of power outlets! Overall, great stay

Nice vibe

The lobby's art deco vibe was charming. Loved that they have a water station with both flat and bubbly water available 24-hours a day. After walking around Sydney's heat, it was nice to have a cold glass of water before relaxing in our room.

The overall is good and ten minutes walk to Chinatown so you can have any restaurant and cafe. One thing I didn't like about the stay is the safe on the ground. It is very difficult to get anything in and out of the safe.

Nice overall. staff were very lovely and attentive. I booked the comfy twin for my mother and I and it was very small, only one chair and very small not very comfortable in that aspect. The beds were very comfortable though.

Sadly the photos do not match the reality. The reception and foyer had been nicely renovated. But the rooms and corridors are old and in desperate need of some upgrading. TV didn’t work, plumbing was poor and no where for any storage or hanging clothes. The team were very friendly however

Definitely not four star

Extremely comfortable bed and very modern room. What ruined the experience for me was that laundry services are with an external company and you can't do them yourself - it costs $28 and mine was not even taken to the laundry place (I took it down on Wednesday night to be done on Thursday, and come Thursday night they had not been taken over). WiFi was also horrendous, and needs to be updated as I have stayed in 2 star hotels with quicker internet speeds - some of my apps wouldn't load at all and so I had to use my data

Stay was great, staff helped with a minor issue right away. Rooms are teeny tiny but expected as per the description. Very functional for one person stay.

The location is fantastic but the management need to read the reviews of a lot of the guests because we had so many same experiences and it seems not much has improved. I think I need therapy after using the bathroom for 4 nights. The toilet seat had stains all over it snd clearly needs replacing , the toilet roll holder was right by your leg so it was it was impossible to use the way. The shower design was atrocious and trying to get in and out was so stressful as you had barely any room to move. You can’t stand properly in front of the mirror because the shower glass is right there too. We only had one power point on left side of the bed so if you were sleeping on the right side, you couldn’t have your devices with you while charging them. The WiFi was terrible so reverted back to my own provider to use internet Our room was given clean towels and sort of cleaned daily but we also made sure to leave the appropriate sign on the door when we were out. We didn’t have our rubbish (empty takeaway coffee cups) thrown out on day 1 so we had to put them in a spare plastic bag we had to use as a makeshift bin and they thankfully threw them out on day 2. The overall cleanliness of the room was very average. Stains in the sheets, walls and drapes never made you feel clean. The lift wasn’t cleaned or wiped down around the buttons the entire 5 days we were there. Finger prints all over the panels and doors. I doubt I’d stay here again.

Loved it

I picked this hotel for the walk ability. 8 minute walk to the train, right next to China town , 22 min walk to opera house . It was amazing . The hotel was average . But it was lovely for me . I did have a stain on the underside of my comforter . And they don’t do full room services on Sundays. Which I wasn’t aware of . However I normally clean all the surfaces when I first make it to a hotel room and not a speck of dirt came off so well done. Natalia made my stay wonderful . She greeted me nicely and remembered me . She let me check out at 12 and she gave me a map to help me.

Was really close to everything in the city but far away that no noise was heard during the night

Excellent location but room service leaves much to be desired. Sheets were changed inconsistently everyday with mattresses showing bloodstains. Reception was very nice and were quick to rectify the issue but … still.

The toilet was making noise all the time even though we try to make it stop. Water pressure in there shower is poor and if you want hot shower during peak hours, forget about it. If other room is showering or flush toilet, the shower water becomes cold. What’s good about this place is the large lobby area for chilling and interior decor are modern. The staff are the best out of everything here, lucky i could do complimentary early check in and late check out. Which made me happier with the experience since Expedia incident. Plus, close to Thai town which is a big plus.

Overall is good i’ve been staying there a few times but the elevator was not available and its been a few weeks still not available . Other than that everything is great .

I have stayed here many times and i think it's in a great location very walkable, Room are a simple layout, comfy bed, great shower and friendly staff and is good for value.

A decent sized room, with an extremely crammed in toilet. There is no bath, only a shower. The overall cleanliness of the toilet was not up to par. The room had a nice ambiance but the it was very loud. The lifts were not working, and this added to the difficulty.

The property was lovely, and got a good rate. Unfortunately this time the coffee machine wasn’t working, and the room was a little dusty, with a few marks. Staff were amazing and went above and beyond to help, even with the lift being out.

Clean. Ok room. A lift upgrade wasn’t disclosed until after I booked. I would have paid the same money for something better if that was known. No view.

Average accommodation. Could hear a lot from the room (e.g. people walking past door, people blow drying hair from another room, someone’s alarm). Cardboard on carpet. Elevator not working. Disappointing stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is old and in disrepair. Elevator not working and a long walk from the top of the stairs to the furthest room. Public Wifi connected but no internet access and the TV required a lot of work to gain access to streaming services. Stains on the upholstery, walls and tables were quite off-putting.

The lift was out of order, so it was not accessible for disabled persons during my visit. This was on a Saturday night/Sunday morning so I am unsure how long it had been out of order:(

Staff friendly and efficient. Price very reasonable. After booking, I was informed that the lift was out of action for refurbishment. Seems the price may have reflected that. The room, once probanbly very nice, was very tired looking. It was well equipped with hair dryer, kettle,T2 tea and Nespresso machine. Irons and ironing boards available in a cupboard near the out of action lift. Storage very limited. I kept most things in the suitcase because there were 3 hangers and 2 hooks, no shelf space. It was really small and had a heavy marble table which was very dusty. The phone cord had never been cleaned. The carpet had not been properly vacuum cleaned - I walked on an old french fry. The Ace Hotel nearby has a great bar and 2 restaurants. The area is well served by transport - trains, buses and trams nearby. The area is quite safe but I wouldn't go for a walk at night.

Great location, unfortunately there was no lift service as they are upgrading. This may not be a problem if you were aware at time of booking. I can use stairs but for many others it could be very difficult, my daughter was travelling with very heavy sporting equipment, the porters did help but it was extremely difficult. There was no written information on facilities available in the room ,At the end of our first day l received a email with basic information .perhaps closing down until these major works are completed would save the hotels reputation

Basic hotel

We had some issues with WiFi and some outlets weren’t working. We asked someone to check but nothing was done. The bed was comfortable. Location was good.

The hotel was overhauling their Elevator/Lift for a long period of time. I was not made aware of this situation prior to check-in. The first floor was actually on the second floor, so no rooms on ground level. 22 steps between each floor being a older/historical building. I would not have stayed had I known. No offer of discount or an upgrade due to no elevator/lift. Bathrooms extremely tight. Could not open shower door all the way without it hitting cabinet. Great, powerful shower, but drain could not keep up with amount of water, so always water exiting shower onto bathroom floor. Hallways not vacuumed daily and showed.

Hi, I now use this Hotel when i stay in the city. It's location is excellent, The staff are always pleasant and the Property is also quiet. And is walkable to Central Station, Capital theatre, Supermarkets and dinning options. I like the rooms, Have a simple layout, Great bed, Good Shower and Netflix. And i think it's good value. Jack

Really shabby stay. Late notification of lift works. Staff member didn’t help with baggage as promised. Windows in room wouldn’t close and there were a lot of drain flies. Moved rooms to a muc better room but still had drain flies. Then work being done in reception causing plaster /gypsum to go all over the stored luggage

I did not book this property myself a friend I was traveling with did the booking. I personally would not have booked this property as too far away from the city centre and did not have all the services I expect from a hotel. It is too old and run done.

Property had no lift which we weren’t told about Rooms very small. Beds and shower are excellent. Housekeeping left our door open after cleaning but other than that the staff are wonderful.

Location great with easy walk to both Central and Museum Stations. Tiny room and street noise although not surprised given location.

The lift didnt work. This should have been mentioned before we booked and paid. We had to carry heavy luggage up 3 floors and ended up getting injured

To find out the only lift in the building was out of service 2 days before check in and having to carry luggage uo and down sreep staurs spoiled an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Beautiful lobby, well decorated small room which lifts the aesthetic quality of the hotel. So close to central station so easy access to everywhere else. Amazing cafe and bar at the Ace Hotel a few steps away. A pity that the lifts were undergoing works which made getting to the room and back a workout each time. But will stay next time since it’s very value for money.

Rooms are a decent size, especially if you are just there for the evenings - bed was wonderful! The elevators are currently undergoing maintence, which the hotel contacted me about after i had made my booking. The hotel was able to accomodate my request for a lower floor to limit the impact. Staff were very helpful and carried my heavy bag up upon checkin, and also brought it down when i had requested assistance on checkout. Overall, good experience! The only thing i wished for was chromecast or some other way to link up to the tv in the room.

Room was so very small. I chair, no provision for suit cases/clothing. No proper garbage bin, used an ice bucket. No room service, left bed unmade, no cleaning, only every 5 days. Two small cups, two small spoons, that's it...... Left our coffee cups unwashed, no soap or tea towel to dry them. My husband got stuck in the shower, so small and we are not large. On top of that we received an email in my junk mail about the lift not working, had to walk up the stairs. No info re. telephone, room, etc. again received an email in my junk mail. Worst place we have stayed in and we are not fussy, just far too small and no access to a window, all closed in. That's enough, but not booking with you guys again. Martina and Paul

Overall a lovely stay

Overall, I had a lovely stay at this hotel. Unfortunately the lift was broken during my time there, but staff went out of their way to help as much as they could with taking luggage up to and down from rooms. I booked a Micro Queen room, and would say this is a small room. If you are staying for a weekend or short business trip, I think it is fine. I was staying for 2 weeks, and for a fairly long trip like this, I would probably recommend going for a bigger room. There was limited space to relax, and nowhere to hang clothes really, although hangers and some wall hooks were provided. I could hear everything going on in the corridor as my bed was so close to the door. I had a few other issues with the room. The coffee machine initially kept leaking water, but this was resolved after reporting it. The fridge was also switched off at the mains, and I didn't realise for 3 days, and was using milk stored in the fridge. Luckily, I didn't get unwell, but I would say just check the fridge is on at the start of the stay! The cleanliness was not always completely up to my standards, and varied a little from day to day. When I first went into the room, it seemed quite dusty, the carpet as well, and there was a caterpillar hanging from the television! But this improved as my stay went on.The best aspects were that the bed was very comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, and the lobby was a lovely space to relax, with excellent prices for their drinks, and a Happy Hour every day.

I have never been more catfished. The room was the most uncomfortable and dirty room I have ever been in. There is very obvious mold around the windows. No circulation so the whole place feels damp. I didn’t even want to take my shoes off to walk the few feet to the bathroom. The toilet seat was half off and and the faucet was crooked revealing the filth that they didn’t bother to even try to wipe. The shower was dirty to the point where I felt so uncomfortable showering that I dreaded going back to the hotel. We booked another to move to. Area is not bad with food around but any other hotel would be better. I never ever write reviews but I was very uncomfortable in the room. Front desk was not kind and very snarky. At the end they didn’t ask how the stay was, just the key cards and no bye. Elevator was broken which we were fine to take the stairs but the dirty mattresses in the hallway turned us off. Do not book here if comfort is something you are looking for.

Very close to central station but quiet for sleeping. Having a restaurant on site was great.

Disappointing hotel

Lifted were out of service for the entire stay which meant traversing 3 flights of stairs with luggage. Really loud at night with no insulated walls. Staff didn’t tidy room one of the days at all.

Amazing experience

The lift continually broke down, forcing guests up and down 4 flights of stairs with luggage. Wifi isn’t strong enough to work in half of the building. My toiletries bag was ‘knocked over’ with stuff left everywhere. Look elsewhere for something resembling a functioning hotel

Not for a ‘bougie’ experience. Eccentric and a little scheezy, but ok and different. Interesting location, but don’t think I would stay there again. It was ok, hipster, meh.

Clean, much quieter than i expected given the location and great location. Close to everything.

Unhappy

Noisy, bed was terrible. Pillows were paper thin, I had to contact reception for clean towels, the balcony door is broken and had to slam it to close it. The lift didn’t work and I’m still recovering from surgery and not meant to carry anything over 5kg but had to climb 3 levels of stairs to get to my room. Staff were nice and all the crap stuff was out of their control.

The bed was comfortable and the room felt generally clean the main room could do with a paper waste bin and the drains had a bit of a smell to them but my overall stay was nice

Overall, the stay was nice, staff were helpful with our room. Walkable to multiple places but terrible for parking. There is no actual parking with hotel, but at parking garage near by. They charged $40 per day, which is alright but over the weekend the garage charges $15 per day, but because we didn’t move the vehicle on the weekend we were still charged the $40. Just beware if staying at this hotel with a car.

Great position close to Central Station. Good happy hour. Helpful staff. Main problem was dodgy lift where doors would not open.

Dusty pokey hole

This is not a four star hotel despite advertising itself as such. We were extremely disappointed with both the room, the services on offer as you would expect for a “4*” hotel. The hotel tried to take payment before we arrived eventho we had selected payment on arrival, staff very helpful and free water. Wasn’t allowed into the room until after 2pm and no where to freshen up. Room extremely small for two people, no bin in the room, no wardrobe only a metal frame customised to act as a hanger however not able to use as it has tea and coffee facilities on it. TV didn’t work and despite this being reported the aerial was faulty and was told to make do (in so many words). Bed is extremely comfy. No facility to get food in this “hotel”! Housekeeping/ cleaning disgusting, they don’t make your bed, clean your room or dust but they do put fresh towels out and change your cups. They don’t clean your sink, loo and the sink can’t have been cleaned for some time as we found hair in the plug hole (pics attached).bedside tables not wiped down. We can’t wait to leave and go to a proper four star hotel. I won’t be in a hurry to return to this hotel. The price we paid does not match the expectations or service expected. Plus point is the staff were extremely friendly.

Rooms and foyer are nicely renovated. Elevator wasn’t working when I arrived but they had it back up and running quickly. Bed sheet was slightly stained. Overall the hotel was nice, and fine for a short stay.

Whilst our room was very comfortable and the location perfect for our upcoming event, the lift was not working and managing the stairs with luggage was not ideal

We enjoyed 2 nights at Veriu. The rooms are small but well appointed and the bathroom was light and functional. The foyer area has a nice ambience and the staff were as friendly and accomodating as I’ve come across.

The Veriu has a certain vibrant and friendly charm about it, brimming with positivity for those who stay do so because it offers a certain ambiance which cannot be matched elsewhere. I’ll most certainly miss the pleasant exchanges each day, all the staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel is situated close to both Central and Museum train stations and surrounded by many eateries which proffer a selection of multicultural cuisines. Highly recommended.

Terrible room and service

Spending $1500+ for a 5-night stay at the hotel, one would expect some level of room comfort and consistent cleanliness standard. Alas the room was small with a tiny window in the corner of the room, opening into a bank of noisy air-conditioning compressors. The door to the room could never be fully opened as the corner of the bed would only allow the door to opened 3/4-way. Fresh towels were not consistently provided even though service was requested. Mind you, this is not a $100 a nite room that we paid

I was not happy with my room, in particular the bathroom. I had booked a Queen Room but was happy with the very small bathroom. I spoke with a sraa member Bailey who immediately arranged another room. This was a great outcome and i enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is in an excellent location, very close to all transport. Quiet hotel, great reception staff. Great rooms. I always stay here when I’m in Sydney.

Convenient & Comfortable

Appreciated the early check-in just after 12 as it rained that day. Gave me time to freshen up and have a comfortable change. The room size is decent for a solo traveller. The bed is comfy but a tad high for a shirt person like me. Otherwise it was clean and met my basic needs. Convenient to central Sydney.

The shower was full of little bugs (still alive), shower still had hair on the wall and the bar fridge was so loud it kept me awake. Bed was comfy though...

Great value for money. Only issue is there isn’t any drawers, and limited hanging space for clothes.
