Bed is ok but still wobble. All good .

Campbell was nice (owner) rooms were small but overall value for money

Nice place to stay and to get to know people, the kitchen is big and has everything you need. More storage space in the rooms would be nice but otherwise I had a lovely stay.

Lovely property, clean, good facilities, great location.

Verandahs is a lovely old villa with an almost ‘posh’ backpackers vibe. Its a couple of minutes walk to Ponsonby Road and about 10-15 minutes to K Road. We stayed in a queen room with ensuite which was spacious and clean, with nice linen on the bed. Check in was a breeze and the service was friendly and warm. Definately recommend and would stay here again :)

second stay at it was amazing, recommend if you are looking for a quiet hostel

Stayed here for a night whilst passing through Auckland. The facilities were great, but bed was a little uncomfortable. The doors were always locked from the outside, but no lockers in the rooms. Also only had 1 main light in the room, which was a bit annoying. But overall good value for money for the night.

Excellence

Everything was excellent!

I loved how close we were to everything and that we were able to leave the car there and walk everywhere. Transport options around the property were amazing. The place was extremely clean and all facilities were fantastic. Would definitely love to come back again.

Extremely lovely building, very homely

Lovely house with garden, balconies, library, living room and a very well equipped kitchen. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I stayed 3 times in different rooms, the ensuite rooms are definitely worth the extra money, simply because you are normally away from the single rooms there's loads of doors slamming shut with everyone nipping to the toilet throughout the night. Great location as very close to centre without the noise and big supermarket just 5 mins walk away

Best hostel I’ve stayed at so far in NZ! It’s super quiet but sociable, the staff are great. Shower rooms are very clean and plentiful. Can’t wait to stay when I’m in Auckland next!

Had such a lovely stay at this hostel. It is very clean and comfortable. Very nicely designed, beautiful outdoor lounge area, nice big clean kitchen dining and lounge areas. Nice balconies with views of the city , has big garden area and is right next to a park, so feels very green and in nature. Easy 10 minute taxi from CBD, good food options in local area. Perfect place to stay for a relaxed experience in Auckland. Very friendly owner and staff

Just what I needed for a short visit, the personal attention was good but they took some time answering my email for my late arrival.

The staff were amazing , the front desk young lady was so helpful and kind . She went above and beyond to help me with my tour reservation and room accommodations . The owner were sweet and kind ! Definitely recommend this gem of a place!

Staff was genuinely friendly. All areas very clean. Bathrooms seem to be newly renovated and spotless. Spacious kitchen area with all availed needs. Comfortable lounging rooms. A lot of charm with old windows, doors, high ceilings.

Verandahs is a nice comfortable and clean place to stay. My only problem is there was no towel provided. If this is usual, I had no idea I would have to bring my own.

We liked everything about Verandah’s lodge. It was in a lovely location, the hostel was very clean and well maintained with great facilities. We had a lovely stay here.

A rather typical hostel, certainly without any of the comforts of a hotel by any means. Locations isn’t wonderful. And there certainly was no free parking which was the major reason I stayed...

Convenient to shops, cafe, park

Great common area, easy check in, lots of useful information available about the area, clean. A little dated, but great for a short stay.

Convenient location, but not very comfortable

Convenient location for walking to major sites. Just a couple minute walk to a large grocery store. But room 3 (single room) was smelly and right next to an exit, meaning that I was disturbed by anyone coming in or out of the building during the night.

Great location, wonderful service. Great value for the price.

The staff went above and beyond to guarantee that I had a great time in Auckland.

2 night stopover

2 night stay in Auckland on first arrival in NZ. Welcoming staff and fellow backpackers. Easy to walk into city and good supermarket/eating places close by.

Verandahs great location

Verandahs suited my stay and the location is very convenient. Inside Verandahs is warm and comfortable and relaxed. The backyard is great for chilling out. Parking is a challenge. Two supermarkets nearby. Restaurants, bars. Queen St not far away.

This was my first experience staying in a hostel, and overall it was a really good one! The staff are all really nice, the location is great, and the beds are comfortable.

Great for a backpackers but could do with fans

Probably good value for what it is but to much late night noise from people returning and no fans so too humid at night. That says, great views of the Sky Tower, good free interest and all the facilities you need so privacy very good if it's type.

Clean, friendly and excellent location

Staff was friendly, room was clean and location is excellent a minute walk to shops, cafes and restaurants. Backs on to a lovely park and a view of the city from balcony, I would definitely stay in this backpacker again. Highly recommended.

Cozy and family oriented lodging

Nice and clean. Receptionist, Lauren is very friendly and helpful. Location not that convenient if you do not have a car. However, there is a nice local food court nearby with selections of mainly Asian foods at reasonable price.

Good quality accommodation in a excellent location

This was a beautiful hostel with a colonial feel, which back onto a local park. the atmosphere was relax, and Campbell an all the other staff, were friendly, helpful and took a genuine interest in people. The best thing about my experience was the other traveller, who were of the same mind, respectful, clean, interesting and friendly.

Great hostel, perfect location

I was only at Verandah's for a night, but wished I could have stayed longer. The owner was lovely and the rooms were the nicest hostel rooms I've ever stayed in - very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect - just off Ponsonby Road.

First time solo

Great location 20 - 30 min stroll into town. Friendly helpful staff.nice communal lounges, kitchen, garden & laundry room. Shared a mixed dorm with 3 20 somethings, I'm 55. Great company & respectful of each other. Would definitely recommend

Pleasant and convenient

Very nice welcoming, awesome comfort for the price, and on top of that what a location ! We made the most of Ponsonby & K Road, literally round the corner.

Good hostel

Only stayed for 2 nights, would have loved to stay for more but they were fully booked, kindly helped me find another place too. Would recommend, although quiet

Simple clean hostel

Arrived after check in closed (7pm) and key had been left out for me which was great. Large room. Simple, clean and functional bathroom. Just needed a bed for the night so didn't use the kitchen or lounge. Left early morning and straightforward key return box by front door. Great location for those just needing a 'bed for the night' but dress warmly if staying in winter as there as it's an old villa so no central heating. Room heater small and turns off after 90mins so you'll wake up in the night to turn it back on. And being so old the walls are not soundproof so earplugs if you're a light sleeper, or like to go to bed before midnight. And 'on street' parking can be very limited, so be prepared to park and walk to hostel.

Great ubication, really nice staff. Clean, confortable and accesible.

Nice hostel

Good amenities, showers/bathrooms were good, enough to go around. Kitchen was big and it was clean. Location was good lots of restaurants and shops. Grocery store nearby. Room was cold though, had a heater but it didn't do much

Great backpackers!

Surprised how comfortable and convenient this backpackers was. Great location and great value!

Excellent place to stay

Easy to get to, onsite parking, very central in Auckland. Excellent rooms and facilities. I will always look to stay there if i am needing accommodation again in Auckland.
