Fantastic room (701), big and spacious. Very quiet with exceptional views. The bathroom was very spacious with a big bath and generous shower enclosure, clean and tidy. TV had BBC channels and Channel 4!

Great staff terrible nights sleep

Friendly and professional staff as always. The let down again is the building work. More relevant is the high pitched drone of the water pressure through the pipes when anyone uses water..... Terrible nights sleep (on 7th floor) worst ive ever had, lije a torture chamber.

This is simply the best hotel in the Netherlands,so helpful,we were quoted a taxi price of 189 Euros to the airport,we thought that is excessive,spoke to reception……one phonecall later……79 Euro,we obviously left a tip…..see you soon as we are now in amsterdam every month working.

it was too noisy because of a construction work at the hotel, besides the service of the reception was unpolite and unresponsible

Very clean and quiet. The rooms are luxurious. The hotel is very isolated with no shop, cafe or other eating place within 25 minutes walk so they can charge €17 each for breakfast. Although there is a bus stop outside there were no buses over Easter.

Great service, beautiful decor

Dirty and old rooms and toilets. Unfriendly staff at the reception. Whats saved the deal was the restaurant with amazing food and great staff. Weird people were surrounding the hotel inside out. I would definitely not go back.

Convenient, centrally located next to the highway. Nice room, but had to listen to dogs barking from some kind of kennel below. The jet tub did not work, which was disappointing. Absolutely no option to buy any kind of food after the restaurant closes (nothing in the lobby, no snack machines, no minibar). Sadly, considering this level of hotel, the beds were old-fashioned dutch-style very narrow, and the pillows were of broken and crumbled foam and indefensible.

After long day, wanted to take a bath. No hot water, so went for the shower, no hot water... As I was naked already, decided to take a cold shower and go to bed. The day after I was told that from 8 PM till 1 AM the hot water was off... Not what you expect in a new hotel and especially not in Van der Valk

Good quality but service wasn't good

Good qualitative hotel. Ventilation is a bit noisy. We were kicked out of the restaurant in a non-pretty way. The waiter said "can you now please leave". This isn't the dutch hospitality I'm used too. When checking out I wasn't even asked how my stay was: they probably don't care

Reliable, pleasant stay

As always a problem free stay at this excellent hotel. Large room with all facilities, great food and masses of parking. Not much to see around but a great base to visit the Utrecht area

Beautiful hotel in lovely Utrecht. Rates are incredibly reasonable for what is 4-5 Star service and appeal.

Disappointed ☹️

Unfortunately a horrific experience at a bad hotel, unfriendly staff. Be aware if you have an issue they do not want to help solve it with action; just words... accused of lying by housekeeping (regarding clean my room tag) never felt so insulted. I believe they do not realize that we the guest keep them in work. Please, think before booking a stay at this hotel as the staff do not make any effort to make your stay enjoyable. Payment is the one and only thing they are interested in (money) Oh the gym is laughable. We have stayed at many hotels around the world and this hotel is THE WORST ONE we have stayed at. Never again.

It was lovely but sadly nothing in the surrounding area. You can not walk anywhere either which was a little annoying, but hotel is fabulous.

Wonderful

The Van der Valk Hotel Houten is one of the nicest hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in. At amazing value for money the rooms are large, clean, and beautifully decorated, with great views of the surrounding area. The only downside was its distance from the train station, but this is no fault of the hotel, that is situated right in the highway for easy access if you drive.

Houten visit

Excellent Quality Business Hotel

Stayed here recently, great hotel. Everything was really nice, spa bath was great. everything in good condition, breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend this chain. Not an awful lot in the area within walking distance though, there is a nice restaurant nearby but that is all. This was within walking distance of where my meeting was taking place so will definitely be staying again.

Van der Valk Houten

Hotel was close to main road but was not at all noisy. Easy parking, excellent staff and very comfortable , superb bedroom and bathroom facilities. Nice atmosphere. Good food and drinks. Can really think of anything that was below excellent for this business stay.

Ideal hotel for a visit to Utrecht

Found this hotel on the internet for a last minute business trip. It was well priced and the location was excellent as we had travelled from Brussels to Utrecht and this was on the right side of town. It was also just a short drive to the center which was ideal for our meeting the following day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff including pushing back our checkout time.

1st class stay

Very nice hotel. Would have appriciated heated floor in the bathroom though. The stone floor gets very cold in the winter time.

Fabulous place but...

Love this hotel and the staff was the best but the location is a problem. During the week there is bus service from/to Utrecht that stops in front of the hotel and is quite acceptable. On the weekend this is not the case. The closest stop is a 10 minute walk and service is not very frequent. If you have a car, are there during the week, or do not need to go to Utrecht I can't say enough good about this hotel.

Met with family for dinner in hotel. Food was amazing but service was slow. We had a group of 21. This was our only disappointment!

Very nice hotel but, if you want to go out to a restaurant in the evening, it is a 30 minute walk to town. The hotel restaurant is very good but on the expensive side.

Amazing hotel, the room was fantastic

I had a SPA Suite room, I had a sitting area with an amazing view facing West (with an amazing sunset). The bed was a Superking size and very comfortable, the decor was minimalist and modern, but also very warm and homey. The bathroom was the gem tho. A big jacuzzi with multicolour lights, a shower room that becomes a steam room and a big sauna room with multi function controls. The location is great for all the businesses around, but a bit far if you are on holiday in Utrech, however if you have a car it is worth staying there. I used public transport and there is a bus that stops just outside the hotel from Utrech main station.

Great hotel and extremely reasonable for the room and quality of service. The lounge and restaurant are great and with the fireplace going creates a great atmosphere for either social or business.

Hotel Houten - Very nice stay

I find Hotel Houten to live up to my expectations and provide full value-for-money. Staff is helpful and very polite, restaurant services are great (very good breakfast buffet), easy parking and close to the highway. When not during rush-hour, transportation to utrecht is very fast. I will most definitely stays the again - which will be in 6 months.

Hotel is mooi en lijkt net gerenoveerd. Helaas was de nachtportier echt zeer onvriendelijk. Wij kwamen uit de sauna en vroegen naar mogelijkheden om iets te drinken te kopen. Hij had er geen zin in en we moesten maar naar de dichtsbijzijnde Mc Donalds rijden gaf hij aan.. Kamer zelf was netjes, heerlijk bed maar wel uitzicht op een parkeerplek en bouwplaats.

Jammer dat ze aan het verbouwen waren. Snap dat het moet gebeuren om het nog beter te maken maar geeft toch wat overlast. Qua netheid was het goed.

Hôtel très agréable mais la construction d’un agrandissement est en cours pour le moment. Ma chambre se trouvait au fond du couloir à côté des travaux. Il faisait donc un peu froid dans la chambre et surtout dans la salle de bain. Cependant, très bon hôtel, super petit dej, je recommande pour un voyage d’affaires car pas grand chose à faire autour.

Rewards programma deelnemer, daardoor kwamen we in Houten terecht ipv bij de Witte Bergen, daar wilde ik eigenlijk naartoe, maar daar kon ik niet mijn bonusnacht op inwisselen. Hotel was super, iets verbouwing mag de pret niet drukken, merkten we zeer weinig van trouwens. Kamer netjes verzorgd, whirlpool geweldig, kortom mijn cadeautje aan mn vriend voor zijn verjaardag was zeer geslaagd. Het diner beneden in t restaurant was ook heerlijk

Ein sehr schönes Hotel, in einer ruhigen Umgebung. Die Zimmer waren groß und sauber! Das Frühstück war auch sehr gut.

Nie wieder, unfreundlicher Empfang, Frühstück wurde beim Check-in ohne Nachfragen dazu gebucht (das hat uns dann mal 85 € mehr gekostez) und als Internationales Luxushotel spricht keiner Deutsch.
