Good stay

The room was kovely and comfortable. With plates, cups, cuterly, microwave as an extra addition. Good coffee machjne and kettle. Could improve on breakfast, only hot option was eggs. Room was noisy in am especially when people getting up. Could hear other toielts flushing and then drain noises. Hotel close enough to get to other areas

The property is beautifully curated and a wonderful escape for a romantic little getaway. We stayed in a suite and loved it!

The rooms (we were upgraded after our first night) were spacious and we got a kick out of the eclectic and risqué decor! Sadly, we primarily picked this hotel due to their ‘fabulous looking and very favorably commented on by prior guests’ outdoor huge hot tub … but it was ice cold and, remarkably, we were told by the front desk representatives that it was not possible to heat it up! Well, needless to say, we were very disappointed, and said as much. In return, to the hotel’s credit, we were upgraded to a larger room with an ‘interesting’ in-room circular tub, that we did then enjoy during the rest of our stay. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant and the breakfasts were absolutely FABULOUS! I would recommend this hotel to others, just beware that the hot tub should not be counted on as part of your stay.

The hotel was very clean and was a nice property, however the hot tub was not working and unfortunately that was not communicated to us upon arrival, We also later learned that the area around the hotel was not clean due to a strike from sanitation workers, so I am not sure how rings are around the area at other times. In all, although we were not satisfied, the hotel staff refunded us a portion of our stay and were very hospitable.

The staff is definitely the highlight of our stay . Extremely welcoming and friendly. Amazing customer service and they made sure to make you feel very welcomed.

Stayed for almost a month and the staff were absolutely amazing. Truly kind people. The room was fantastic—I booked a premium studio and the bathtub was my favorite aspect, I used it every day. They have breakfast and snack options and there are so many great food places close by. There are also a convenience store, atm, and self service laundry to each side. I had a great first time in Lisbon and Upon Angels was integral to that experience.

Stayed here Nov 2024 for 11 days and we were surprised at the quality for the price you pay. It’s the best hotel we’ve stayed at in Europe for the price range. Friendly staff, very clean and a corky fun and cute hotel. It felt like a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend this place for your stay in Lisbon. Thanks Upon Angels.

Staff was amazing! Friendly and extremely helpful!

Very pleasant staff. FYI the poo/whirlpool is not warm & not always open. Jets good. Our room ok but directly facing windows & within feet of another building, no sunlight. Couldn’t for most part open curtains. Bed comfortable, toiletries ✔️& good towels. Microwave & frig, some Dishes & glasses, could warm up food. Place for dining in for breakfast. Good Italian restaurant a few minutes walk. Laundromat beside hotel. Grocery store also easy walk. Rossio metro 15 min walk & Rossio train stn not far from this. Area is ok, we had no problems, it is not touristy. Some nights in our room heard voice noise from street/Alleyway (didn’t last much beyond midnight. Liked that walking home didn’t involve major stairs & if so was generally a climb down. Lisbon was surprisingly very busy.

Friendly hotel

This property is not for everyone, the decor is very suggestive, however the staff and the service are exceptional.

We stay three nights from 10/8/2024 to 10/11/2024. It is over rated hotel. Room is clean but it did not have any drawers and it has no place to put cup & brush in the bathroom. Location is not that impressive. Front desk receptionists are not friendly. We are suppose to have a bottle of sparking wine for each room per stay but we did not receive.

The staff were helpful and very courteous. Also, the location was close enough to sights and shopping as well as great restaurants nearby.

Lovely hotel with beautiful, stylish rooms. The staff are really friendly and helpful with great English, and the jacuzzi courtyard is pure luxury. Especially since you can get drinks delivered to you there with the handy QR codes! However, please be aware that this area is NOT safe for women at night. This is the one thing I wish I had known in advance, as unfortunately we had some bad experiences being followed and harassed by men on the street. Get Ubers after dark, they're cheap.

A really nice hotel well situated 12 mins walk from the main centre. A plus is that it’s not on a hill (you’ll understand why after visiting Lisbon and very close to the Metro at Intendente). A couple of nice restaurants are very close by and I’d recommend the Portuguese/ Italian just as you walk onto Avenida Almirante Reis. Room is funky inc bathroom but little space for toiletries? Breakfast is good but on my first morning I wasn’t offered the cooked breakfast and on another day the scrambled eggs were stone cold! Ask for your breakfast to be freshly cooked? On arrival, the lift wasn’t working but was soon repaired. Take care on the stairs which I thought was quite dimly lit. After unpacking my case, I had some creased shirts and asked for the loan of a clothes iron. But was told on two occasions, it was with other guests. I was given a clothes steamer but this didn’t work. Needless to say, I didn’t bother asking a third time for the iron. Staff always smiled and pleasantly greeted you. The male member of staff who did the breakfasts was so nice and friendly! He was really attentive and looked after everyone. The outside area is quiet and cool if you want some time out to read or just admire the fab mural! Taxi to the airport… book on the Uber app for under €10. I had emails from the hotel offering a taxi for €31… guess which I booked arrived at the door in 2 minutes! Would I go back? Yes. Why? Location, funky interior, cleanliness, no kids, staff member at breakfast!

Comfy but noisy

Amazing front desk staff, well designed room but incredibly noisy. Walls are paper thin and you’ll be able to hear the cleaning staff next door from 9am. Location is walking distance to sights but immediate area not the best.

Staff were great. Loved outdoor area. Would have loved the prices of drinks to be slightly more affordable, otherwise brilliant star. Blown away by breakfast 10/10

We loved our stay at Upon Angels from the moment we walked through the doors. The staff were friendly and helpful, the check-in was super quick and easy, the hotel was chic and beautifully decorated, the room was fantastic and had a balcony, the coffee machine was easy to use, the toiletries smelt great and the bed was big and comfortable.

This property was absolutely amazing! The room was gorgeous and a great size. The staff was so friendly and available 24 hours a day to answer any questions or concerns. The courtyard area with the pool was the best relaxing spot to take a break from the busy city. Overall this place was a 10/10. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Lisbon. The daily breakfast was great start to my busy days. I loved that the rooms all had microwaves and fridge and there is even a small sink and hot plate on top of the counter where the coffee machine is. You just have to lift the top. Overall such a great place to stay. The bar was amazing also!

Our first room had issues— TV didn’t work, outlets didn’t work, smelled like smoke, no hot water in the shower. We asked for a different room and they immediately switched us to a better one. Everything was great after that, they even surprised me with a little cake on my birthday. There are a bunch of great restaurants and bars nearby, a Metro station right around the corner, a little market steps away, and it was super easy to get to other neighborhoods. Great launchpad for adventures!

Lovely property! But definitely in the weirder side of town

I enjoyed my stay at Upon Angels quite a bit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and comfortable, something I appreciate since I didn't have to navigate a large and complicated building. The decor is classy but sugestive, great for couples!

Super clean, cute and close to all things fun in Lisbon!

Property was nice and very walkable to main areas of Lisbon. Also very close to subway which makes getting around very easy. Rooms were nice and the staff was pleasant. I’d stay here again.

Lovely place and staff. Area is a little rougher end messier than what we're used to but not anything terrible.

We loved the funkiness of this boutique hotel. The outdoor jacuzzi and terrace area is fab, the rooms are spacious, very well-appointed (be warned- not for prudes- decor is risque), and the staff is wonderful. It is in the Moorish quarter, so not super walkable for a lot of the attractions, and the street is a bit rundown, but Upon Angels is a little gem in the midst.

Perfectly Splendid

Every aspect of our stay was excellent. Suggestions- need a couple of luggage stands for your room and a small corner counter top in bathroom for your toiletries. Loved the staff. Everything is walkable from our hotel even walked to the castle/ fort. We averaged 5 miles per day walking. We would stay there again!

Clean, quirky, great stay!

Absolutely loved this hotel! Lovely attentive staff, quiet comfortable rooms, gorge decor and a real premium vibe (e.g. rituals toiletries were a nice touch). We would happily stay again! Only 2 things I'd mention but theyre not complaints per se. We were having a lie in one morning and the housekeeping staff (who do an amazing job!) were quite loud, maybe just the courtyard made it echoey & tbh we should have been up already lol! The other thing to be aware of, which didnt bother us but might if youre a lone traveller, is that its in an area that feels like its at the pre-gentrification stage. We tended to head out early evening on foot, but returned via taxi. I wouldn't hesitate to book again all being said! Oh some hooks in the bathroom would be nice and probably would help green credentials as towels could be hung up to dry!

Weekend break

Lovely hotel and extremely friendly staff! Would highly recommend staying here for a short trip in Lisbon. Location was great and just a short walk to metro/tram and the city centre!

I loved the unique theme and feel to this hotel. It’s a one minute walk to the metro and the famous tram line; however, the area it’s located in isn’t the safest. Every day we encountered people on drugs outside (but they were harmless in our case and we had no issues). Just some strange characters. But the hotel itself is fabulous and they offer unique extras and a copious breakfast! As a woman I would only stay in this area with a male partner and suggest coming back a little before 10pm. Fabulous stay otherwise!

Perfect place to stay and relax in Lisbon

Absolute 10/10 stay at Upon Angels. The hotel is in a great location, steps from metro/bus/tram stops and small convenience stores located near the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and due to it being on of our partys birthday we were upgraded without even asking, which was amazing! The pop suite we were given was huge, with two lovely balconies, a super comfy bed, kitchenette, and bathroom. All the facilities we needed were either in the room or we could ask for them. We did have a small issue on our second day where the lights in the room lost power, however this was fixed as soon as the possibly could and we were offered a different room if we wanted it, however we werent fussed as there are plenty of lamps and natural light sources in the room. Overall we would 100000% come back to Upon Angels in Lisbon!

Very pleasant and comfortable.

We enjoyed our week at the hotel. Our room was very quiet, clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable. We had small kitchenette with little fridge, coffee machine, microwave and electric kettle. Shocked by policies.

Great room and hotel. A staff member entered my room in the middle of the night while i was sleeping (in my bday suit) and scared the living hell out of me. HE said that a guest gave this room number and that the toilet was broken. He said he knocked (i was dead asleep), and if he did it wasnt very loud or for very long. Other hotels ive stayed at wont allow an employee to enter after hours unless a guest comes to the door. I was shocked and I travel about 50+% of the yesr for work. Totally needs to change.

Nice hotel in a not-so-nice area

I wish I could give this place more stars, but I just can't. First, the good: super nice, friendly staff and quite clean. The hotel is meant to have cool design, and it does. But that is irrelevant when practicality is sacrificed. For example, the tea kettle is too big to fill up in the sink. There is only a bathroom sink; no sink in the kitchenette. The bathroom is pretty, but there is no vanity space at all so you will struggle to find a place for your toothbrush and face cream. It became very clear after my three-night stay that whoever designed the rooms never actually stayed in them. Another reason why I cannot recommend the hotel is the location. The street where it is located is REALLY DIRTY; trash everywhere. It was disgusting. I also did not feel safe enough to venture out at night. A woman traveling alone should avoid at all costs. The location is a bit far from the sights, but the metro is very close, as is the 28E vintage tram. I did not use the restaurant as I was informed they could not accommodate gluten free. One last thing: some people might find the decor a bit offensive. Some of it is quite explicit, and the kama sutra left next to the bed was not particularly welcome (I just turned it over and used it as a coaster). This last item did not affect my review as it is a personal preference.

Interesting concept and really the rooms are a lot of fun. I was going to meet a friend for dinner and they came to the hotel. While I was getting ready they waited in my room and the font desk clerk both knocked (I was in the shower) and called on the phone to inform me any guest must provide ID. I've never encountered this before. The clerk was probably just following procedure but it felt invasive and uncomfortable. The alley and some of the side streets near by are kind of trashy. Otherwise the property is fun and close to a metro station, good restaurants etc.

Great character, clean, comfortable and friendly

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The property is really well kept and charming. They brought us WAY too much food for breakfast every morning. The property is a little but out of the way from the city center but totally doable if you enjoy walking a lot on vacation like we do.

Very stylish property, friendly staff. A little style over substance maybe? Breakfast is £15 per person, the hotel bar is expensive. The rooms are really interesting but there are certain details missing, for example there are no hooks on the wall or in bathroom so cant really hang anything up to dry. The pillows were not great quality and there wasn't another option? Bed was very comfortable.There are blue lights in the cealing that turn on to movement so when you turn in bed, they come on which woke us up a few times. Often housekeeping would forgot to replace a used item like towels, facecloths, tea, coffee

What a fantastic place to stay in Lisbon. Friendly staff, fantastic rooms, walking distance to the main square and shopping areas. Will definitely stay here again when I’m next in Lisbon.

No bad points regarding the hotel itself and enjoyed the stay.

Amiable staff. The rooms are excellent—very spacious, Clean, and beautifully decorated. The hotel is very close to the green subway line. Also, there are a lot of restaurants around the area.

The property is located in a good area with so many restaurants around, including the famous Ramiro(5 minutes). Laundromat is located next door. The sound isolation is great, we can barely hear anything outside. The bed, pillow, blanket is good. The room is spacious compared to European standard. I really like the night light system with blue LED, the light is turn on when it detects your movement so you can walk safely but it’s not shining through the eyes if you are sleeping. Microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee machine are in the room.

Awful place - wanted to run away immediately

Awful place, feels dirty and insecure. It was not advertised so, but looks like a place for one-night stands only. We wanted to run away immediately after entering the room. Sexual subtexts are everywhere - no idea who likes a room to have such a disgusting design. Bed was noisy as if it was broken, rain shower elements kept falling down, the light switches were very inintuitive.

Brand new hotel. Sparkling clean and colourful. We really appreciated the jacuzzi area. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, which was a nice touch. Room was spacious, but no hooks to hang our towels/wet bathing suits. We appreciated the little welcome gift- prosecco and chocolate. But coffee pods (2) were provided only for the first night out of four, which we found a little bit cheap. We were 1 euro per extra pod if we wanted a refill for the remaining 3 nights…

Really cool hotel. Beautifully decorated, a fantastic staff, and a location easily walkable to the best parts of the city. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Lisbon.

Wow

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Very welcoming and friendly staff who are extremely helpful with any queries. The room was immaculate and the decor of the hotel is fantastic and unique. The little details such as bottle of bubbles on arrival made it that just a bit more special. The jacuzzi was a great added bonus after a long day of walking around. The location is excellent too. If visiting Lisbon again I will definitely be staying here and recommending to others to do so too.

Best boutique hotel in Lisbon

Definitely one of my favorite boutique hotel so far. The place is amazing. The decoration is on point great for pictures in Instagram. They have a DJ on Thursday by the pool. The staff is welcoming and friendly always available to help. You have to get the breakfast in the morning. I’m planning to come back to Portugal and definitely staying there.

Clean and nice

A very beautiful and new hotel in the very city center. Was visiting family who live on the direct opposite so on top to all the other great things there super convenient for me. Not a fancy area but the quarter is very much in the change. Will be interesting to see the development in the future.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Zimmer war sauber und schön. Alles war da. Jeden tag eine Flasche Wasser . Frühstück hszten wor nicht. 2 Minuten zur Metro Ansonsten einfach ein Uber buchen. Funktioniert super.

Grande chambre confortable et calme. Personnel très professionnel et très agréable. Il reste un petit problème d'aération et de ventilation à régler dans la chambre/salle de bain

Good city hotel with nice staff, walking to the center in 20 minutes crossing the area where all the homeless are „living“…

Faites attention avant de réserver. L’hôtel en lui même est bien, très propre avec des chambres de belles dimensions. Par contre, le secteur est très mal fréquenté malheureusement. Le matin nous marchions pour se rendre dans le coeur de la ville mais le soir nous rentrions uniquement en taxi car le coin n’inspire vraiment pas confiance! Dommage parce que l’hotel est bien mais l’emplacement à nuit à notre séjour de 4 jours à Lisbonne.

Substandard toilet design
