all ok
The only issue I had was the temp of the room which I found to be too warm. That is it, that is all
Quiet Clean Needed shampoo Hairdryer
Very pleasant experience. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice service. Good location, not very expensive parking.
Perfect location for our needs and parking relatively easy.
On campus therefore you are a walk away from our son who lives in graduate housing . The bed and pillows are unbelievable.
cold temp, unadjustable heater, water too cold. no extra drink in fridge
There something missing, it is information.
To he rooms were great. Very nice, very comfortable. The problem with this place is it stange, atypical, not normal. The hotel is essentially spread out in a conference center/dorm. This is ok but they should have more signs with information. Also parking is with the University about $15 per day, but you need to research to not accidentally pay much more. Still I enjoyed me stay. Just wonder how many people never find the front desk. I marked the device low only for this. Otherwise great friendly service.
Good, clean room, comfy bed, convenient location for our stay, no complaints about the room. Staff was friendly and thoroughly helpful. I’d stay here again in the future if my travels brought me back to Edmonton. Paid parking would be my only complaint.
I like the convenience there. The hotel is next to the conference rooms. But the internet is very slow for the guest account. I can't even use VPN.
Hot water supply in the shower was unable The pillow was dirty
I enjoyed the location but the key access is a bit cumbersome.
The best place I stayed at in a very long time! Thank you.
It is very difficult to find it is hidden building hard to see not advertisement. Those are super hot dorms the only good there is the friendly staff and the soap.
Great price, nice clean room. Worked perfectly for what we needed. Would like parking and meal options but otherwise great.
Practical but uncomfortable
Location was great for us as we had to spend the weekend on campus. However, the pullout couch was so worn out that one of us ended up sleeping on the floor as it was more comfortable that way. And on one side of the bed's mattress, it felt like there was a rip on the mat. And the room was way overheated. But check-in and check out was easy and the staff was really nice. And it is super quiey. We did not hear our neighbors at all.
Decent, no frills accommodation
Not bad for the price. Basic, basic, basic - but comfortable bed and good shower. Virtually no one there to assist with anything, but otherwise okay. I'd stay again on my own, but not with family members.
Hotel staff were very pleasant. Location was very convenient. Ample parking.
Not comfortable
Not comfortable at all. Hard bed with plastic cover. Not good. Can't adjust air conditioner. Had a fan but not good. No TV in the room. Good is it's close to the hospital and Kaye clinic. Safe. Add $15 to the rate for parking.
Great if you need to be at U of A
I went to university at U of A years ago and remarkably this was the first time I ever set foot in Lister Hall. This is exactly what you would expect from student res. It is functional, spartan and has just what you need. I stayed in a twin room which was small but still was roomy. The twin bed had fresh sheets that you needed to put on the bed. There were towels and packaged soap provided, and more available if necessary. Bathroom was small but everything worked great. Be forewarned, no tv. The building floor had a social room if you needed more space. There was a shared kitched with fridges and microwaves. I didn't see any cutlery or pot, pans or dishes. There was dish soap. Next to the kitchen was a laundry room with one washer and two dryers. Didn't see any soap available or for sale. You'll need a U of A swipe card to pay for the machine but I expect they are easy to get. Check with the desk. The building had places to eat and a Timmy's for coffee. There are restaurants a few blocks east or on campus. If you drive you can find all day parking on campus for $15. Parking at res may cost a bit more. If you don't drive this is a good hub of transit options with access to the city trains at the university. It appears the airport shuttle will pick up there as well. There are tv monitors with all of the transit info on the main floor.
No frills, but more than adequate for the price.
The "hotel" I stayed at is actually a student dormitory 9 months per year. During the summer months, the building houses summer students and conference attendees. Each room had its own private washroom with shower, a large closet with shelves and hangars, a desk with shelves and drawers, a chair, and a bed consisting of a 6-inch-thick mattress lying on top of a wooden frame with more drawers for clothes. The mattress was about 3 feet by 6.5 feet, i.e. room for one person but not two. No TV, radio, or alarm clock. But Yes, there was free Wi-Fi. There is heating but not air conditioning. I was there in Edmonton the one week of the year where it got warm enough to make air conditioning highly desirable, but the housing staff loaned me a fan, and that helped make the room tolerable. The doors have deadbolts instead of automatically locking door-latches, so locking myself out of my room accidentally was not a risk. Room Service knocked on my door my first full day there, and I said No Thanks, and either they never came back or they couldn't get in because of the deadbolt. At the floor entrance from the elevator, there was a table stocked with extras of clean towels, soap bars, and plastic-wrapped drinking glasses. Like the title of my review indicates, the accommodations were free of frills, but I think they were more than adequate for the really cheap price I paid per night.
Great Location!
I was attending a Conference at the Lister Center so having my hotel room in the same building was extremely convenient. The room was basic but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room was quite warm but there were two fans in the room that allowed me to control the temperature. I would definitely stay here again.
Be sure when they ask you for your credit card
The rooms had no issue , no issue with my stay as well. But when I reached for a checkin the staff asked for my credit card just for pre authorisation, I had no clue he would tap the card without me knowing that there was a deposit amount to be paid. I had no issue paying it but I was not aware until I checked for my card details. I had to call after my checkout to confirm all the details .
Excellent Place to Stay.
Parking is right out front of the building. It's a little confusing to check in but follow the signs and it's pretty painless. Paying for parking is via Honk (they have a machine in the entrance...pay before you check in). It's right on UofA campus across from the Butter Dome. Location couldn't be better for on-campus meetings. Room was clean, well appointed (coffee, towels), the bed was very comfortable. The room was dead quiet as well.
Excellent location
Since I was taking a workshop on campus, I looked for a location close to the U of A Campus. I was pleasantly surprised to learn I could stay at the University of Alberta - Guest Accommodations. My room was clean and comfortable as well as a 5 minute walk to my workshop.
An Enjoyable Stay at the U of A
Staying at the University of Alberta Residence is always a pleasant experience. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay!
Terrible Stay!!!
The room was clean, well maintained and in good condition, but the room was unbearably hot; probably around 35 C and does not have AC. The room had 2 fans so you can blow the hot air around the room. The taps only run warm to hot water even when you're running "cold" water. The ice machine doesn't work and the vending machines were not filled. I would not stay here again!
Convenient
Very convenient to walk to medical appointment in the morning.
Convenient but not that accommodating
The bed was comfy but the room was hot even though they provided two great fans. There is no air conditioning. Opening the window in the night helped but it was noisy from traffic. The first sign-in staff before 3:30 were excellent. The sign-in staff after 3:30 were not very friendly, bordering on rude.
Great spot on UofA campus
Size of the room was very large, clean, great bed, modern coffee maker/TV. Would recommend.
My room was extremely clean, very impressed!
The only thing I found missing was a tv guide. I did ask the front desk, they told me the channel, but after scrolling numerous times, was unable to find it. I was very happy that there was absolutely no noise in the halls, in which made my stay very enjoyable!
Adequate Accommodation
It was a very cold day when I arrived but the room felt too warm and I couldn't find a dial to adjust the temperature. I had a friend that was performing several shows at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium so this place was perfect in location since it was just a couple of minutes walk to get there. The internet connection was not very good. There were some things that I had to tether through my smartphone to be able to connect. Since the place seems to be mostly occupied by students, the check in process didn't feel professional enough. The room was clean even though dated. Overall, it was an adequate place to stay at for the purpose of my visit.
hospital stay.
the hotel was close to the U of A hospital. the parking was cheap however, once I left , I had difficulty getting a spot again. all in all, a good hotel.
Very good
good location for on-campus conference
Convenient location for an on-campus conference. The room was comfortable and quite well-appointed. Two of the lamps had broken or missing switches and the room was a little overheated, with no temperature control.
The room was a bit on the warm side but clean and comfortable, and at a reasonable price. Not a lot of accommodation choices near campus; I'll definitely be staying here again.
warm room cool shower
Expensive room close to u of a. Unfortunately room was very warm making it difficult to sleep. Shower never did have hot water, only lukewarm.
Memory
The student working on the reception desk is not flexible. They don't allow me check in until 4 pm. The room quilt is heavy. The air is not fresh in room. Sleeping for a day is okay. The breakfast downstairs is a bit of horiable. Unfortunately, the hub mall does not open until 9:00 am. Have to run somewhere to have breakfast. You have to take it if you want to look for memory as a 30 years ago student At u of a. Nice campus, the two key system is a bit of inconvenient. Room 525 lead me no where, finally, using imagination, try room C525 to unlock the door. No air condition control in each room. Maybe there is no air condition. I see a fan standing on the room ground. Fortunately, the temperature is not that hot. It is Sunday night, next day is holiday, but still charge parking fee, 7$. Be prepared. Donating to mother school is a happy activity.
Nice UofA accommodation
This is the best option if you are travelling to the UofA on business or just need to stay on campus for a few days. The pricing is reasonable, the hotel staff are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable. It is also quiet during the night.
Air conditioning
It was good overall, but it would have been nice if the room had air conditioning.
Good for a few nights
First of all, the staff were all really helpful and friendly and had answers for every question that I asked of them. The room itself was understandably basic but functional and the only problem I had was that the shower felt a bit like receiving acupuncture! The shower head is probably due a replacement but it wasn't so bad that it was unusable. Finally, the location is great if you're staying for events around the University itself but not so good if you are heading Downtown or to West Edmonton Mall. Fortunately, the local buses run regularly and are easy to figure out so this was fine with me.
Decent, clean, quiet room for fantastic price
Stayed at the campus hotel for a conference. Comparable to other services on other campuses (fairly basic room, had to make the bed myself) but the price per night was fantastic. Great value and for a short business trip with little time being spent at hotel, it was perfect.
Better than expected
Nice accommodation near the University. Rooms were very nice and clean. On site tim hortons and and other food service made for quick breakfast. Much better then I had thought being that it is in Lister Hall.
Lister Hall
Note: must pay extra for parking. Long walk from entrance to rooms. Not suitable for person with mobility problems. But, is a clean, comfortable, room, with coffee, ironing facilities, laundry room available, and various types of foods available in the building. Close to Jubilee Auditorium and Uof A hospital. Overall, good place to stay.
Very nice place clean comfortable but internet is poor. Otherwise very good.
Convenience and comfort
I had a great stay. The ladies at the check in counter were very friendly and helpful, I enjoyed having a variety of places to eat at on site so I did not have to leave. It was close for me to walk to my course.
Great location for attending functions at UA
Convenient
Nice rooms close to University of Alberta
Stayed at this guest accommodation due to the proximity to the University of Alberta. Campus is within five minutes walking time.
Right on the UofA campus
It was perfect as I was visiting my son on the UofA campus. Room had everything I needed, clean & quiet too. Great price. Would definitely stay again!!
Stayed at U of A Guest Accommodation while at a conference in Edmonton. Convenient location on campus; dorm-like setting and reasonably priced. Room a little warm and without thermostat so appreciated the fan. Staff at check in and out very friendly. Room was somewhat 'tired' but had hotel-like amenities including a small fridge and Keurig machine!
Nice hotel on campus
Nice, clean room. Close to the bus stop and the train. Rooms are on the same floor as the conference hall, but seperate with locked doors.no noise.dining hall is located near the conference rooms and if you don't like what they have you can go downstairs and there are places like Tim Horton's there.
Bad experience
No A/C, phone, TV, mini bar and uncomfortable bed. Tiny size room and sizzling hot. Overall very bad accommodation
It was ok.nice clean not alot of facilities Like dormitory
Good but could be better
No sign on door that opens automatically after key card is read. Almost got hit by the door. Bed was not made and no shampoo or conditioner was provided. No signs indicating procedure for ordering food at the cafeitria. Was told to order at a kiosk not counter even though the let me order at the counter the day before. On the plus side it is within walking distance of a train and bus syop
Good location for my exam.
The room was pretty good but it was too noisy at night and I couldn't sleep .
Perfect for events at the Jubilee .
Location is on the University of Alberta campus. Perfect for events at the Jubilee,a 3 minute walk. There is no air conditioning so a little warm in hot weather.
A practical hotel
I took part in a UFA family Orientation day and stated there one night with my son. All facility is available but air condition. It's ok because Canada is not so hot in summer.
Nice residence close to university & downton
I loved the place; excellent accomodation. I will book again next summer.
No air conditioning
It was really hot with no air conditioning. The windows were not open during the day so when we checked in, it was hot and stuffy. Will not stay here during summer again.
Good and cheap, but...
No signage to check in, building looks abandoned. Room ok, odd configuration, even for a student. NO HOT WATER!
nice accommodation closer to the conference center
the temperature of my room was on the warm side.An air conditioner or venting window would make it more comfortable
Other than the fact that the hot water in the sink and shower was not very warm, a good stay.
Staff education need much improvement
The room itself was adequate. Unfortunately the staff are predominately students and do not know the hospitality industry. It was very poorly run and operated.
Excellent facility. Very helpful and accommodating staIn walking distance to all UofA departments.
Serviceable Place To Stay At UofA
If you have business at UofA or the hospital nearby, this place is a solid choice. It's in the middle of campus and close to not one but TWO light-rail stations. Its main downside is the complete lack of a free breakfast, although the food court (with a Tim Hortons!) is a decent alternative, and there are other places to eat that aren't too far away.
Perfect for a short stay
I was in Edmonton for a couple of days on business with the UofA. The hotel's location was perfect; right on campus! The staff were very friendly, the room/bathroom were clean, and the bed was comfortable. Even though there are many student dormitories around, it was very quiet. After checking out I had breakfast right across the reception which was very convenient.
Wonderful accommodations.
I was very pleased with my stay. The staff were great and the room was very inviting and neat. The only minor negative that I would have is that the views from the room are blocked by other high structures, but I suppose that should be expected as the hotel is built on university campus grounds.
Hidden gem close to Whyte Avenue
We would never thought to stay at UofA guest services/residence, but the location and facility was superior to a tradtional hotel in a similar price range. Located in the heart of university campus, the guest rooms are locked securely away from the student residences and event facilities. The convenience store for students offerred a large range of snacks, salads, sandwiches and more, and NOT at exhorbitant hotel prices! We walked through the event area to get to the rooms, and a large party with loud music was getting underway. However, once on the other side of the doors, sweet silence. the room was not overly spacious but had everything we needed, and the quality was better than anything else in the price range. The bed was extremely comfortable, the wifi was free and seamless, housekeeping fast and friendly.
Great Stay
Close to several amenities, quiet, clean. Great choice when visiting campus.
Great for UofA events
Convenient location for events happening at the university. There was no temperature control in the rooms. Parking is extra, but inexpensive. My daughter enjoyed the food services/mingling with the students.
Good value in Edmonton
Arrived and checked in late about 9 PM. had a bit of difficulty finding the address but we called the receptionist and she was able to set us straight and get us there. Reception is not obvious - located down a level and around the corner , and then the rooms are upstairs.
close to health sciences building
hotel is conveniently located inside the university campus. lots of dining options. room was clean except the toilet flushed with a very loud sound.
Reasonable accommodation on UofA campus
I had a reasonable stay at the Lister Center. It's pretty clear that this is a University-run hotel at a residence and so the price is somewhat inflated. Rooms are large and clean. Place is surprisingly quiet. I appreciated the proximity to the LRT and other university-related places. To improve, wireless internet would be very helpful.
Exceptional on-campus stay
Nice rooms. Exceeded expectations for a campus accommodation. Dining hall is convenient, has decent food and is reasonably priced.
Convenient on campus hotel
staff was super nice! Rooms were very clean. Had wifi and free local phones. Also TV. Very satisfied in terms of meeting my needs, which was a pace to have a hot shower, sleep comfortably, and get ready for my meeting the next day. Obviously because it's also a residence hall (guest rooms were separated from the residents) there was some noise in the stairwell that transmitted to my room which was close to the stairs even after midnight. But it wasn't so bad that I couldn't sleep or was woken up from my sleep. The linens were clean, but towels and bathrobe were kind of scratchy. The pillows were probably the most uncomfortable part of the stay -- they were very soft. Since I usually sleep with a firm pillow, it was difficult to get used to. But again, I still was able to accommodate and had a good sleep.
Stay at Lister Centre
The room was bright, clean and had new furnishings. The staff were courteous and helpful. The location and affordability of our accomodation were the key elements of our decision to stay here. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely stay here again!
Great stay- very clean!
Stayed here for 6 nights, it was the perfect location to lots of food options and activities as well as any classes at the uofa or the faculty of social work Edmonton based campus. I am really picky and make sure everything is very clean before I accept a room and this is one of the cleanest places I have stayed at. Also, the bed is very comfy. This is the perfect place to stay if you are attending any conferences at the uofa as well because the rooms are right by the conference centre - in the same building just down the hall.
Exactly what you expect it to be
This hotel is very basic, but clean and bright. A little too warm, but the windows do open. It's very close to the Cross Cancer Clinic, where I was having tests. It's perfect for that.
Nice overall
Nice clean room but nothing classy or upscale. Frontdesk staff were super helpful. Free parking and wired internet were good plus. It's my second stay there and would stay again.
doc.app
it was good.and quit
Close to university and Jubliee Auditorium
Great night and we were there for Fall Graduation.
Family
Stayed while my child was in the Stollery Childrens hospitsl
Handy location to our relatives.
Very comfortable bed. The false alarm fire alarm shortly after midnight disturbed our first night's sleep, but otherwise it was comfortable and quiet.
Excellent on U of A Campus Hotel
Perfect when you need to be on the University of Alberta Campus.
Great value !
I picked this because it was close to the venue I was attending. The room was basic , comfortable and quiet , I liked that it seemed to be secure . Parking was free and it's close to the Jubilee Auditoium , I would stay there again if I went to a concert.
nice on-campus location
I stayed here for a more affordable option to the downtown hotels while attending a conference. Getting to the conference downtown required a short ride on the light rail, but the stop was only three blocks away and if the weather was really bad you could cut through campus buildings. The hallway to the rooms includes a windowed view onto the dodgeball court and, if your timing is right, you can watch the dodgeball league teams fling stinging rubber balls at each other.
Great hotel right on campus.
It was nice to be in the same building as the conference on the U of A campus. Great night's sleep at a low price.
Convenient Location
I was interested in going to U of A so being on campus was great to begin with. Staff at the desk are friendly and helpful. Maps were given for the campus and also pointing out places to eat. Ventilation is a bit poor. It was stuffy and warm in the upper hallways and my room. My window was facing other rooms and was also above a bike rack so I had to adjust my blinds sometimes. Window doesn't open all the way. Convenient to have a private bathroom. Sheets, towels, and soap were provided which was nice. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean (carpet looked like it could have been vacuumed a bit more). Nice big desk with a keyboard tray, convenient for doing computer work while there. Rate was pretty good. Would stay here again.
Great for the budget
It is a student housing that is open for the public in Summer. Room is neat and clean with a private washroom. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Price is unbeatable.
Convenience to Cross Cancer Institute
My husband has an overnight stay at the Cross every few months and the guest accommodation at the Lister is perfect for me: just a 5-10 minute walk from the Cross, with excellent parking included and the room is spacious and comfortable - everything I need.
Guest Accommodation UofA
I was great value for the money. I Uses the kitchen. Parked steps away from my room. Room was quiet. Very comfortable work desk and chair.
Very basic stay
Basic accommodations. Bed was a single, not made, and it did have a private bathroom. But it was a little noisy from a fan outside in the hallway, no A/C. Could at least have made the bed. This stay was extremely basic in all sense of the word
These are not fancy accommodations, very basic. But the place is clean and quiet. I had a room w a bath. I was at the University for a couple days, out most of the day and evening. It was good for that, I just needed a place to stay.
Good, clean, basic accommodation
If you are expecting to stay in a residence room without air conditioning, this will meet your needs. The rooms are small, clean, have lots of drawers and closet space. Towels and linens are supplied. I brought my own fan, which was a life-saver in the +28-30 degree weather. Staff were courteous and helpful. Least expensive parking rates on U of A campus.
Dorm accommodation. cheap and adequate
Enjoyed the location easy to get the LRT to Downtown and not have to drive. Quiet area at this time of year.
Good place if you want to be near U of A
Reminded me of 30 years ago , when i was a university student. A student dormitory , clean , good Internet connection in section where i was staying.a bed a desk a shower and nothing else....
Central to downtown and University.
The university residence was handy for me as a visitor to the university but there are very few amenities at this facility. The residence did have a student common area with a Tim Hortons and eating area but the food court closes at 3:00pm each day. The room is extremely basic and has not TV or alarm clock. The bed is a single bed and is very stiff. The room was generally clean but the carpet had numerous stains and the internet was patchy.
Waste of money
Don't stay here. Total waste of money. Room was cold. Plastic bed. No amentaties. No tv. Overpriced. Just aweful.
Parking
All was great for the price, the only annoyance was the parking. Because this is also a conference centre, parking can be far from the door. Otherwise great value and location.
